I've finally started leveling a monk, rewatching your video and article for guidance, and man, is this fun! Windwalker is an absolute beast, pretty much one- or two-shotting any pack of enemies with the fists. The level of damage output is off the charts, I've leveled 7 classes to 70 by now and others can't even compare. "SW: death" on my main priest now sounds like a joke compared to monk's "touch of death" lol. Not only that, but monk's mechanics are so simple, unlike other classes that have to consider 150 things to squeeze any noticeable damage these days. Here you pretty much get what you press without any damage ponzi schemes and that feels so good. I'm really surprised tbh. And that trick with the Godfrey npc party is so dope! Did it with like 5 tries and got basically a full party for the quests. I wished to keep the guys up the Zephyrus quest line as say on my rogue I could barely finish the first quest and would only die on later ones, so this would be the best party for the job, but sadly going to the Orcus quest despawned my team. Also at some point you enlist 2 more people, a bloodelf 'princess' and an undead, and your npc party grows to 6, which you could keep by not completing the last quest in the "human farms" chain. And this is quite fun! I wish I could go to dungeons with them lol. Which brings me to memories of Allods Online, the only onther MMO RPG that encapsulated vibe of WoW good enough for me to play it. Not only encapsulated, but made it even more awesome, mixing WoW fantasy atmosphere with Russian/slavic cultural sentiment, from old fairytale times and up to USSR with its scientists (undeads ofc lol). And in that game, you could actually hire NPCs to go to dungeons with you, not for cheap, but could. And this Godfrey shenanigan really touched my nostalgy. Didn't expect I would watch through the whole video, but I did. Nice speed run, nice comentaries, and Jojo monk is probably the best WoW addon ever made lol. I wonder if there are 1-60 speedruns without any preconditioned gold/items/conditional buffs/guildmate help. Like, true solo on a new server kind of speedruns.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this: Battle Pet Dailiies that are account-wide. They have really good XP, and can be held onto as long as you need (meaning don't need to be completed the day they are started). Nice chunk of a level doing them.

@@TheTastyFoot Druid is getting quite a few changes in 10.0.5, so that would be the absolute earliest that I made a video for them. That being said, right now I'm pretty swamped with raid stuff, so leveling videos will need to wait until the new year.
thanks for making this route! as somebody who runs other games, and somebody who has also played a ton of WoW before, what I can immediately observe about this route is that not only is it incredibly fast, but theres also so much more room for optimization. sub3 is possible and probably a whole lot more. is WoW still an actively ran game? i don't see many verified SRC runs.
At this point I'm the only one left who seriously runs full leveling speedruns. Not terribly surprising though, since it requires an insane amount of gold/prep time to get a run going, and that's not even including the time of the run itself. That said, I'm not ENTIRELY sure that sub 3 is possible. In hindsight, while I could have saved a bit of time due to minor optimizations, my testing over the last months has made me realize my routing wasn't nearly as unoptimized as I thought at the time. This particular run also used the Anniversary buff, which does save a significant amount of time. For sub 3 to be possible, I would need to have the anniversary buff again AND I would need to get perfect rare mob RNG just like I did in this run. Unless I play on PTR servers that's unlikely, and my recent routing changes require Live servers since they involve dungeons. I'd be more curious to see if I can match this time without anniversary buff, or atleast get one below 3:30. My recent Alliance Speedrun had terrible RNG and still managed to get sub 4 hours, so it might be possible.
Good luck to anyone running this seems like its a super popular route now ive found 0 of the rares thus far and just hit 20. Currentl its 1:15am EST on a thursday so not exactly prime time
@@Harldan1 oh no doubt im sure. im gonna follow it through on my rouge with no rested, no buffs, and only heirlooms and see what happens :) I think im about 3 or 5 levels behind you at the moment coming into Hillsbrad
All joking aside, I'm more than happy to do speedruns like this one every now and then, but only if it's a special occasion. Early on some viewers got the expectation that WoW speedruns were my thing, and I wanted to dispel that notion quickly so that I could branch out into other stuff.
That's not necessarily true. The User Interface, as the name implies, is inherently the way people need to engage with the game. Bad UI design is a really easy way to lose new players, as many of them will get frustrated and quit before they get a chance to figure things out.
If you want a slightly better chance at finding rares you can turn off Chromie time while leveling through the early zones. This stops working after level 30, though, and you're forced to re-enable it to get full XP.
The Hotbars thing is if you have never used these before yeah its gonna be wierd but if you have amd XIV experience then you've used these bars before.
It took some getting used to, but I'm relatively fine with them now. One of my biggest early frustrations was the lack of certain QOL features that FFXIV and other games had, such as auto snapping and grid lines. Those were added in a recent patch, so it's better. I still think the default UI they give you is pretty terrible for new players though.
one thing i wish i dont know if you can based off of wows Macro system is Disappearing Hotbars @@Harldan1Edit: The macro system in wow needs a revamp cause when i was playing wow i couldnt understand the macro system when i started 14 the macro system helps teach you how macros should be set up and how they work.

Hi Harldan, I've been enjoying your videos. You mention some nerfs to the cracked radinax control gems. I can't seem to find any other info on that. What did Blizzard change?
It's an old change from ~2 years ago which was stealth added, afaik it never appeared in patch notes. TLDR, Radinax Gems used to have no level requirement, so if you watch my old speedruns, you'll notice I make heavy use of them for 10-50 runs. After my runs became popular, Blizzard changed it so you can only use the gems if you're level 40 or higher. As the saying goes, fun was detected, and fun was nerfed.
Correct, this is stated in the video. You can also tell it's the beta due to the character copy thing at the very start, or the debug panel present during the run. That being said, these changes will go live on November 15th, which is in just a few days.
@@Harldan1 Dope! I do wanna level some new toons for raid farming purposes. I don't think Ill be able to match these speeds, but two 3-hour sessions should be good enough for me.
Since this was on the beta, it effectively simulates what leveling will be like after November 15th. That being said, if you want to level right now, you can follow this route and then stop once you reach level 40. After the 15th, just continue along the route until you hit 60.
@@Harldan1 Unfortunately was not, got to level 46 at the point where your guide suggested I should be at 60. I'm not quite sure where I messed up - the leveling was going along nicely until 30, where in the WoD intro you seemed to gain double the exp that I did.
@@Harldan1 Welp, I'm a dumbass. I completely missed the last paragraph of your guide. That oughta do it, then - will just have to wait for my server to come back online.
Not sure what you mean. My 15 minute leveling guide covers the entirety of both the Horde and Alliance routes. I'm guessing you skipped through the video, so if you go back and check it again you should be able to find the Horde sections.
I am sure I missed the reasoning somewhere during the run, but why not skip cutscene? Not saying you should have, just wondering why it wasn't done. Nice job!
I am curious what your thoughts are on the UI in more depth. To me, your ui looks no different to default. I don't know if what you were showing isn't your UI that you were talking about. Also, you can just import a UI if you find something like, no? Edit: Love your leveling guidse btw, looking forward to using the DF stuff when it launches!
I think you misunderstood my point about the UI. It only affects me from a speedrunning perspective of having to play the first ~1-2 minutes with a messed up UI. Also, as someone else pointed out, I can set up a character with an identical name ahead of time in order to make sure my UI is working properly. When I say the default UI is complete and utter garbage, I'm referring to the default layout that the game provides you with. Once you have bars set up and some stuff moved around into the proper locations, it ends up not being too bad. That being said, most new players won't want to take the time to figure out how to do this. It's fine for the UI to be customizable, but the current setup REQUIRES customization because Blizzard couldn't be bothered to set up a template that doesn't suck ass.
When burning crusade first came out I held/hold the record even over "death and taxes" for 1-60.. i stopped at outlands level 62 cause I was alone and playing for 24 hours and I bought the burning crusade game a week after release date. ..also I was a alliance shaman named "maraxus'.. every 3 mins during leveling I received "I'm telling your cheating " .. as I giggled and enjoyed the fame.. that I.. was the best and first 60 alliance shaman!! In the world..
So question, tried to follow this route but my Lordaeron is blighted and on fire but yours is normal, yet I can't seem to find anything that I did differently... Any idea why this is?
bro in spires of arak if you build home away from home you gain 20% passive EXP for that zone if you mind that isnt that zone a perfect zone for leveling?
No, it's not. Mind you, Spires is the next best zone that I recommend after Gorgrond, but it's not as fast as people make it out to be. "20% more experience" is misleading, because it only applies to the second half of the zone, and most of those quests aren't even that efficient. You can't simply say "this zone gives 20% more xp" in a vacuum without seeing how that affects the overall time.
Do you plan on making some screenshots of the Df maps with routes for 60-70 leveling? Would be great having it on my 2nd monitor and follow it on launch day, rather than a video I can't keep up with.
More than that, I'm planning on making a detailed guide for 60-70 leveling. As usual, I'll have both a video and written version so you can use whichever one you find to be more useful.
Just getting into WoW for the first time and came across this, all the items you get at the start, how do you get all of them? Is that something you get through a specific edition?
That's mailed over from one of my other characters. The route I use will still work even if you don't have any of the items, they're mostly for speedrunning purposes.
No, the written guide is fully up to date and will always take precedence over my older speedruns. Keep in mind that for many of the streamed speedruns, I was simply testing out different variations to figure out what was faster. I've done a lot of offline testing to refine my results, and I've found the route in my written guide to be the most effective for Alliance. If I get time, I'll put together another run showcasing a fast Alliance time, but this is low on my priority list and probably won't happen until 2023.
@@Harldan1 I am sure that in 2023 a newer step by step video guide for both factions will be welcomed by many (unless they make it so we can level alliance toons with horde quests XD ). You did some great work so far which saved me from the boring WoD route of Azeroth Auto pilot

Hey im relatively new to the game, and some things are just hard to fully understand with only the guide. Do you have full footage of the alliance version for your route?
Did they increase exp required per level? I have just copied your exact path and by the time you hit 54, I have hit level 38. I am using warmode, darkmoon hat and the BFA 10% elixir. I know there is no anniversary buff anymore, but this seems dramatically different?
First off congrats on the WR one small thing I've noticed I'm not speedrunning leveling at all but isnt it faster to get to silverpine forest when taking the tp to undercity right next to the flight trainer in ogrimmar? Or is there any particular reason u didnt do that? Seems to me that it couldve saved a minute or 2 for sure. @@Harldan1 You are awesome, thank you. Just coming back from a year ish long break with chars in the mid 50's trying to figure out best places to level lol
@@Harldan1 Hey just out of curiosity, should we follow along if we are 5 or more levels behind you at any given time? In these sort of situations should we keep following along and we will just make it up in the end?
@@Harldan1 Interesting. I would like to say, in your written guide, it does not say to talk to Chromie and return to the currewnt timeline. Just following your guide, I would still be in the Legion Chromie Time from doing the Dalaran Hearthstone quest
@@Harldan1 Ok, so now I am confused. My initial question was "So you are not actually in Chromie Time?" and you said "That's correct". Now you are saying that we should be in Legion Chromie Time?
In the run, I'm not in Chromie Time for 10-30. In the guide, I recommend talking to Chromie to enable Legion Chromie Time to pick up the Dalaran hearthstone. As stated in this video, Vulperas and monks both have abilities which bypass the need for a Dalaran Hearthstone, so I didn't pick one up. As a result, I didn't turn on Chromie Time.
That doesn't seem possible if you're following the guide, unless you're brand new to world of warcraft. If the latter is true, though, then you shouldn't feel the need to rush to max level. Take your time and enjoy the learning experience.
1-10 is extremely linear and doesn't have much room for optimization. 10-60 is generally a more popular category since Allied Races start at level 10, which allows you to skip the boring introduction stuff and hop right into the meat of the run. Allied Races also have some interesting racial abilities that allow for more fun routing (such as the Vulpera camp that I use in this run).

I like the new UI set up and think its pretty easy
GAWD DAYMN THATS FAST
Good luck to anyone running this seems like its a super popular route now ive found 0 of the rares thus far and just hit 20. Currentl its 1:15am EST on a thursday so not exactly prime time
Even without the rares it's still pretty solid
@@Harldan1 oh no doubt im sure. im gonna follow it through on my rouge with no rested, no buffs, and only heirlooms and see what happens :) I think im about 3 or 5 levels behind you at the moment coming into Hillsbrad
The jojos sound is goated.
Harldan: This is my last speed run
Blizzard: changes xp
Harldan: ok, THIS is my last speed run
All joking aside, I'm more than happy to do speedruns like this one every now and then, but only if it's a special occasion. Early on some viewers got the expectation that WoW speedruns were my thing, and I wanted to dispel that notion quickly so that I could branch out into other stuff.
I was today years old when I learned that chests now give xp
It depends on the chest. Some do, some don't. Additionally, most of the chests in modern expacs give way less experience than the ones from cata.
I think a truly new player wont care about their bars until later.
That's not necessarily true. The User Interface, as the name implies, is inherently the way people need to engage with the game. Bad UI design is a really easy way to lose new players, as many of them will get frustrated and quit before they get a chance to figure things out.
I ended up being lvl 37 when finishing up all quests in Hillsbrad, quite a long way from 45 :D Any recommendations on where to go instead?
So many people are leveling that I pretty much never see the rare mobs. I know they aren't required, but it's disappointing :(
If you want a slightly better chance at finding rares you can turn off Chromie time while leveling through the early zones. This stops working after level 30, though, and you're forced to re-enable it to get full XP.
@@Harldan1 Thanks for the tip :). I guess it's good for the state of the game though that so many people are leveling and playing.
Awesome video mate, but i can't access chromie time, even though i did the bfa quest play through to activate it and have a 60 character
"Watch your clever mouth!" hey, theres a B word missing in the end of that 😏
The Hotbars thing is if you have never used these before yeah its gonna be wierd but if you have amd XIV experience then you've used these bars before.
What are all those quests in the bag you got? coming from someone who has over 20 lvl40s and lvl50s from previous expansions... about to delete them all and start fresh.
Is this on the beta? I thought they wouldn't remove having to do Shadowlands til Tuesday.
Is this possible at the moment assuming we are just wanting to get to 50 and wait for 15th to do 50-60?
Since this was on the beta, it effectively simulates what leveling will be like after November 15th. That being said, if you want to level right now, you can follow this route and then stop once you reach level 40. After the 15th, just continue along the route until you hit 60.
Been following your guide now with a troll druid, but found myself in a situation where I'm only level 36 at the point where you're 53. :P
Just continue along the route and you should be fine.
@@Harldan1 Unfortunately was not, got to level 46 at the point where your guide suggested I should be at 60. I'm not quite sure where I messed up - the leveling was going along nicely until 30, where in the WoD intro you seemed to gain double the exp that I did.
@@Tarquillentte You fully completed Gorgrond, Spires, and the bonus objectives within Talador?
@@Harldan1 Welp, I'm a dumbass. I completely missed the last paragraph of your guide. That oughta do it, then - will just have to wait for my server to come back online.
@@Tarquillentte Yea, my WR run ends REALLY early into the route. Without buffs it's expected that you'll stay in WoD for a while longer.
I can't find where I saw/heard it in the video, What is the item that skims across the water quickly?
XA-1000 Surface Skimmer, but Gunshoes also works.
do you have a shorter version of this levelling guide like your alliance one that is only 15 minutes?
Not sure what you mean. My 15 minute leveling guide covers the entirety of both the Horde and Alliance routes. I'm guessing you skipped through the video, so if you go back and check it again you should be able to find the Horde sections.
I am sure I missed the reasoning somewhere during the run, but why not skip cutscene? Not saying you should have, just wondering why it wasn't done. Nice job!
It's not possible to skip the Silverpine cutscenes.
@@Harldan1 that's a cool little gem of info, taking that trivia straight to the boys 😎

Did you forget to turn on Chromie Time?
What it s the name of the addon with the sound effects from Jojo 😂😂 so sick, made me laugh every time when you used fist of furry 😂
Is this speedrun utilizing thee 50% xp buff in pre patch or I can use this route now without the 50% ?
Nice job! But what's with the sound effects while u do fists of fury etc, is that really the sound effects that are in the game for vulpera monk?
C'mon man, I explained this within the first ten minutes of the vid.
@@Harldan1 i skipped around, sorry! Well done on the run though
Add-on por template?
@@Harldan1 question how did you lvl up from 55 to 60 in gogrond if chromie time turns itselff of at lvl 50 ?
@@Itachixg As mentioned in the video, this is done on the beta. You'll be able to follow this route when the changes happen on November 15th.

Is there a written guide/video on the gear/enchants that you're using?
This is something that I plan on making at some point next week.
So question, tried to follow this route but my Lordaeron is blighted and on fire but yours is normal, yet I can't seem to find anything that I did differently... Any idea why this is?
You'll need to speak to Ziridormi to phase back into the original Tirisfal Glades.
bro in spires of arak if you build home away from home you gain 20% passive EXP for that zone if you mind that isnt that zone a perfect zone for leveling?
No, it's not. Mind you, Spires is the next best zone that I recommend after Gorgrond, but it's not as fast as people make it out to be. "20% more experience" is misleading, because it only applies to the second half of the zone, and most of those quests aren't even that efficient. You can't simply say "this zone gives 20% more xp" in a vacuum without seeing how that affects the overall time.
@@Harldan1 i see. ty for great guides on leveling.
@@Harldan1 That's awesome man, keep it up.
Just getting into WoW for the first time and came across this, all the items you get at the start, how do you get all of them? Is that something you get through a specific edition?
That's mailed over from one of my other characters. The route I use will still work even if you don't have any of the items, they're mostly for speedrunning purposes.
@@Harldan1 got it! Thanks! Loved the leveling route guide so I came to watch what it looks like in real time lol
Is the written version of the leveling guide for alliance out of date? because it seemed to not match the video versions of speedruns

Those are the Darkmoon Quest items, and they're a standard part of the routing.
Hey im relatively new to the game, and some things are just hard to fully understand with only the guide. Do you have full footage of the alliance version for your route?
nvm I think I found it ua-cam.com/video/4ZKufVWvLKo/v-deo.html
Check the description of the guide. It has a link to my Alliance run.
I did the route and finished gorgrond at level 50. Would you suggest just going to spires after?
Yup!
Did they increase exp required per level? I have just copied your exact path and by the time you hit 54, I have hit level 38. I am using warmode, darkmoon hat and the BFA 10% elixir. I know there is no anniversary buff anymore, but this seems dramatically different?
Nothing has changed. Just continue along the route and you'll be fine.

Just asking cuz thats what im doing when leveling an alt as I said not speedrunning it but trying to optimize it as much as I can.
I had to go to Darkmoon Faire first. You're probably correct that if Darkmoon Faire isn't active, that portal will be marginally faster.
Didn't you lose time taking an RP heavy quest just to straighten out your bags?
Have you done Silverpine Forest before?
is it not just faster to farm donj with a lvl 10 monk ?
No, it's not.
When you are in gorond, are u in chromie mode or whatever its called?
Yes.

@@Harldan1 Interesting. I would like to say, in your written guide, it does not say to talk to Chromie and return to the currewnt timeline. Just following your guide, I would still be in the Legion Chromie Time from doing the Dalaran Hearthstone quest
@@reaperish Correct.
As a result, I didn't turn on Chromie Time.
vulpera are cute
how did you decide that this is a world record ?
i did it in 1 second with 60$
Hilarious, I totally haven't heard that one a million times before!
i was playin 4 hours and get lvl 16 :S
That doesn't seem possible if you're following the guide, unless you're brand new to world of warcraft. If the latter is true, though, then you shouldn't feel the need to rush to max level. Take your time and enjoy the learning experience.
you like monk man? XD
I hear Japanese voices from your character? is it an add on?
Explained in the first five minutes
OMG WHY THE FURRY BRO... nah im just joking congrats on the run :)
Why 10-60 and not 1-60?
1-10 is extremely linear and doesn't have much room for optimization. 10-60 is generally a more popular category since Allied Races start at level 10, which allows you to skip the boring introduction stuff and hop right into the meat of the run. Allied Races also have some interesting racial abilities that allow for more fun routing (such as the Vulpera camp that I use in this run).
