its amazing that even today companies like Kaw Valley, KVP, BA are still making the crap feedcone barrels. They're already being made on a CNC lathe and its the same operation, just change the damn angle of ramp. That said I don't know where you live but you overpaid for a lot of things and made some mistakes. Blowback9 specifically says not to use colored or heavier duty springs. A flatwire one is required for the kynshot with wilson combats being the recommended. The recommended kynshot for the JRC buffer tube is RB5015HD, while the 5007 can work it doesn't reduce impact as much. Do not put fancy triggers on a duty/protection rifle. Go milspec. I agree with your findings at the end. You spent $800+ on a firearm, then replaced the bolt carrier group, barrel, buffer (twice), handguard, brace, trigger and charging handle, buffer tube. Which is waste. For anyone watching just build one from scratch or buy a better made firearm.
It is amazing. At the _very least_, they should say "hey this only works w/ FMJ" so people can make the decision to buy something that's limited or make the decision knowing more money will need to be spent to accomplish their goals. Like I said in the video, it's b.s.
Not just that, but Kaw valley has a mix of buffers.. they make deadblow/ sliding weight buffers and solid ones at the same time. The issue? They don’t tell you. The 7.5 oz buffer is solid, meanwhile their 10 oz is sliding weights.
I’m new to the blowback ar9’s. I’ve looked at PSAs AR-v 4”,8” and the likes of Sig Sauers mpx-k’s, H&K mpx. Thx for posting and good luck 👍 I’m leaning towards PSA ARVs but have to look into their barrel ramps and bolts.
Man, I’m sure Glad I bought an Extar! It’s a featherweight, it 100% Eats anything, runs Fast, reliably, smooth and soft. Very inexpensive too! Built in Arizona 🇺🇸
That is one of the exact issues that Rudy at Macon Armory will address for you. You can either buy a barrel with an adequate feed cone or you can send your barrel in to Rudy and he will machine it for you.
Muzzle Velocity on 300AAC 220gr ammo that isn't subsonic is almost subsonic anyways. Muzzle Velocity is also calculated using a rifle length barrel. So when going through my shorter "pistol barrel" and a suppressor the muzzle velocity is right at 1100FPS. At that point the altitude and barometric pressure will help determine if you get a sonic crack or not. For me shooting in Tennessee on a warm summer day, the round hitting the steel target at 150 yards is louder than the report.
I have a brigade bm 9 with a 9inch barrel. I have no idea what you're talking about. We have put at least 2000 rounds through it and only one issue. Which was a small screw backing out of the bolt, which we use locktight and it has runs perfectly sense then. It has been so dependable that we're gonna use it as our home defense weapon. I think maybe you just gotta bad bolt carrier group or something.
Im trying to build one now with a Noveske 10.5 inch barrel and BCG, they are recommending a Vltor A5H4 buffer with a Carbine Action spring and buffer tube. The weight with the BCG and the A5H4 is 21.73 ounces.
Thanks 😊for a great and informative video. Very few firearms fans understand enough mechanical engineering to figure out on their own the many points you’ve made. Over time there have been many more dual column feed open and closed bolt PCC and SMG firearms than the AR9. From WWII on, the former design has had wider use in the European military an law enforcement for a reason. In the US, marketing gets the “last word” over engineering. The Extar 9 has the best trouble free operation for the AR9 money, but I chose the Beretta PMXS from PSA. PSA has a rebate that gives the best price online. Although the PMXS does not come with an arm brace, the cost of the arm brace was less than the PSA rebate so my total cost was less than your build from scratch cost. The arm brace install was within my skill set. I very much admire your knowledge and skill in custom building.
18:47 How's 300 blackout compare to 9mm in terms of going through drywall and/or walls into surrounding homes? I'm on the fence about getting a pdw for home and am heavily leaning towards an ar9 for this reason. That, and ammo is cheaper.
From what I understand, 300blk subsonic has equivalent power to a .45acp but 300blk subsonic has that same power all the way out to 300 yards. With the right defensive ammo, you should be gtg. That said, I am rural, and the appeal for me is the ability to swap mags and reach out to 200yards. You may not need that.
@@PorcTactical Mag swap....... I've seen the result of loading a magazine with 300AAC into an M-4 (.556). You only make that mistake once. I have both 556 and 300 ARs. I use black Magpul magazines for 556 and green for 300 to ensure I don't make that error.
Great info, thank you. IMHO the niche for 9mm AR is Home Defense/ suppressed. Reliability is key. ergo must be able to shoot SD ammo. , Reliably, else its just a range toy.. when you get to $2k range... just get Sig MPX or HK MP5. Disappointing to learn AR9 platform is so problematic.
I have a brigade bm9 and mine feeds hornady critical duty 135 grain hollow points without a problem. I think it’s more of a smg/pcc problem more than just the ar9 brigade problem. My zenith mp5 clone is picky with hollow points as well. It’s just the nature of the beast. Just find hollow points without a HUGE hole in them to help feed more like an fmj. Both my zenith and brigade don’t like hydrashock hollow points. Hole is too big and is to square.
The feed cone is not a "crap" feed cone nor is the barrel "improper". AND, you are wrong about there not being an AR-9 mil-spec standard. Colt built the first mil-spec AR-9...the R0635 9mm SMG. The barrel, which had the broader cone design you call crap, was designed for, as you stated, mil-spec full metal jacket rounds. It is a common mistake made by many when building or buying an AR-9; but your ignorance is not the fault of anyone but your own. Do some research on the Colt 9mm Sub Machine Gun.
Ive been a GS for going on 20 years. Your rant is completely uncalled for and proved nothing. Yes the feed cone is crap. Next item the only part of an ar-9 that is truly mil-spec is the trigger group. So be quiet and let the grownups talk. Go back to the table of discouragement. At least this creator has over 400 subscribers. Now how many do you have? Why don’t you make a video of what makes the ar-9 mil-spec? You don’t have the ⚽️ 🏀 🏈 s.
@@blackbartbartholomew7122 Dude you are absolutely wrong...but you go on believing what you want. I've probably shot more weapons and different types of weapons during my 8 years in the Marine Corps than you've seen in your alleged 20 year gunsmith career. You know NOTHING about me son.

Thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate it. I’m glad that it was useful for you.

Outstanding information. F the expert haters.
Great information and illustration! I've had the best cycling with Spikes BCG & heavy buffer ( for 9 mm) and Faxon barrel.
