I thank you Eric and Chad! I can relate very much to this gripe. I own a very modest gun collection that has accumulated over a 30 year span secured in a safe. My girlfriend of 2 years had never fired a gun but was interested when we first started dating so I took her out to shoot steel in the AZ desert. She enjoyed it and even posted pics on social media. Now that she's moved into my home a year later she makes comments when I have ammo or magazines delivered. For example "Are you planning something?" and it offends the shit out of me! I'm about to give her the boot.
Long term, they appear to be great investments. 😊Just remember to take those safe queens out of the safe once a year and wipe them down, work the bolt and confirm it’s still in operating order.
I use the golfing analogy when questioned, I ask why do you have so many clubs in your bag, answer they all have a different purpose, I say bingo its the same with guns.

Great video! An idea i have is that being 19 and living in New Mexico I feel like young adults my age all face the same stigma. I bought my supernova last year a savage axis last week and my first ar this week. Every purchase the seller was just like staring at me horribly the whole time like they don't want to sell you the gun.
10-20 guns seems like the sweet spot IMO. Enough to for specific situations (self defense/hunting/range toys), some for redundancy, and some because you just think they’re cool.
I relate big time, when I watched several video's on the coonan 357 mag. 1911 style . I had to have one. It's my pride and joy of collectables. And the cool thing is that I got it from Lenny Magill, A private sellers auction . What a master piece .
I surely have “too many”, especially the ones I really like. For example, for some reason I love the Springfield M6 Scouts. I have 23 of them. I have one of each model “new in box”, and the rest are shooters. Why do I have so many? Why not?
I feel like I should have a backup to everything I own. And I’m addicted I started in November have spend hours and hours learning and I feel like I’m playing catch up. Still have holes to fill in my collection. Still have lots I want. My girl is already asking why I got so many. Lol
Oh I will just get one…then it turned into three…oops five…okay okay just 12…and so on and so on. I completely understand having backups, one is none, two is one 👍
Only for fun. I know a guy that can drive 300 yards with a junky putter and that was when we were in high school so he's probably better 20 years later.
I helped an old man who was a friend disperse his collection of collectable guns. I ended up with as many as i could afford. He had a dusenburg that is now in lenos collection!
I have dozens of guns but collect now as I collect watches and knives and other sophisticated tools - each model has unique mechanics and aesthetics differentiated from other similar offers in history. Understanding the choices a designer of a particular time made about how to build the tool educates me on how to solve daily problems, often adjacent, to the core topic.
different roles for each of my firearms, Pistol/revolver for light to medium risk or when out and about, a lever gun for slightly more power or hunting, a battle type rifle for BIG groups of problems, only missing a Long range problem solver 🤔
I love when I get an idea when designing my guns and I can go over to my wall and find an example of how it was done well enough it was put into production, then I can learn from it and I tend to have more success when working on my version of the concept.
Yup. They all serve a different purpose. One will be really good for home defense, while another will be really good for conceal carry. Another will be really good for hunting deer at a medium range, but you need a bigger caliber rifle to hunt Moose or Grizzly bear because a .243 cal isn't enough for big game.
@@mikegriego3671 and don't forget, we even have some of the same reasons as women do for their stuff: "I need a Colt single action .45 to go with my cowboy outfit." "I need an AR-15 with a barrel shroud and a support hand pistol grip to go with my operator outfit and plate carrier." Lol
@26:56 that's exactly why I snagged a sporterized K98K at a LGS recently. New sights, bolt knob, and stock. Doesn't bother me one bit since it still has scroll and stamp marks, and I got it for a freaking steal. The shop owner "just wanted it out" which worked for me. I got a German K98 that probably has "been there, done that" and a cool old hunting rifle in one. Man I wish guns could share the stories of their lives.
It's pretty simple. Every different one can serve a different purpose like you said, for plinking, hunting and self defense. Not one gun can fill that role. Plus we like them because of the mechanics of them. There's some that operate different than others like a single action or double action and we appreciate the mechanics of different ones. Then you get to the history side, some firearms have historical meanings attached to them like the M1 Garand, Mosin Nagant, all of which served in WW2. So you may have a collector that collects ww2 firearms or others of a different time period. Then there's ones where you see a movie and you think "That gun is cool" and so you have guns from movies that you like and it can relate to pop culture, someone brings up Die Hard the movie and you say "Hey I got a 92fs like Bruce Willis used." So that is why some people can own a few.
LOL i can see that . im going to stop eventually .. my logic is that im paranoid if i have too many then i can't properly clean /oil them all . my personal opinion 10-15 is enough for me im not there yet though lol

I'm addicted to building ARs. If I have a spare part, I have to turn it into a rifle. Example: I recently purchased a BCM mod 1 SOPMOD stock for an existing build, now I have an extra stock so I need to turn it into a rifle. It's an addiction.
LOL! The real operators use the SOPMOD mod 0 buddy.
Son you got a problem, a healthy one, but a problem none the less...
I got a spare gas block roll pin, for free if you want it, you could build an AR around it.
@@memeier9894 That's all it would take for me to get started on build #14

I thank you Eric and Chad! I can relate very much to this gripe. I own a very modest gun collection that has accumulated over a 30 year span secured in a safe. My girlfriend of 2 years had never fired a gun but was interested when we first started dating so I took her out to shoot steel in the AZ desert. She enjoyed it and even posted pics on social media. Now that she's moved into my home a year later she makes comments when I have ammo or magazines delivered. For example "Are you planning something?" and it offends the shit out of me! I'm about to give her the boot.
My girlfriend did the same thing: "why do you need 10 AR mags?", with a concerned look on her face. lol (then i ordered 10 more)
"Why do you need so many guns?". Simple answer, because i can. 🤣😂
To go with all the bullets!
Long term, they appear to be great investments.
😊Just remember to take those safe queens out of the safe once a year and wipe them down, work the bolt and confirm it’s still in operating order.
"because its not called 'the bill of needs'"
I use the golfing analogy when questioned, I ask why do you have so many clubs in your bag, answer they all have a different purpose, I say bingo its the same with guns.
From Nova Scotia, Canada 🇨🇦. Love you 2 guys. Your show is EXCELLENT! Both you and your brother are very well informed. Keep up the FANTASTIC work. From vet to vet BRAVO ZULU. Ps can you guys do some more of the cannon stuff and civil musketry? God bless you both.
Great video! An idea i have is that being 19 and living in New Mexico I feel like young adults my age all face the same stigma. I bought my supernova last year a savage axis last week and my first ar this week. Every purchase the seller was just like staring at me horribly the whole time like they don't want to sell you the gun.
For all us “poors” out here grinding. Run what ya brung and have fun, Invest in ammo and shoot more!
Run what ya brung 100%
Great points, love everytime a video of yall pops in my feed. Miss Barry everytime i watch RIP...
10-20 guns seems like the sweet spot IMO. Enough to for specific situations (self defense/hunting/range toys), some for redundancy, and some because you just think they’re cool.
Just like no one in combat never said “I wish I had less ammo...” the same goes for guns.
I was asked the same thing by a date a few years ago, I asked her how many pair of shoes did she need, she did not like that.
I relate big time, when I watched several video's on the coonan 357 mag. 1911 style .
I had to have one. It's my pride and joy of collectables.
And the cool thing is that I got it from Lenny Magill,
A private sellers auction . What a master piece .
Mom: “why do you need so many guns if you only have 2 hands?”
Me: “how many shoes do you own?”
I was looking for that comment. Excellent!
I surely have “too many”, especially the ones I really like. For example, for some reason I love the Springfield M6 Scouts. I have 23 of them. I have one of each model “new in box”, and the rest are shooters. Why do I have so many? Why not?
L😭😭🥴🥴
Haha holy crap, 23 of the same firearm?? I had to justify to myself a while ago why I want more than one brand of polymer pistol!
I feel like I should have a backup to everything I own. And I’m addicted I started in November have spend hours and hours learning and I feel like I’m playing catch up. Still have holes to fill in my collection. Still have lots I want.
My girl is already asking why I got so many. Lol
If she's the type, ask why she has so many pairs of shoes. She obviously can't wear them all at once! Lol
There will always be holes in a gun collection. Even if we have to create holes to fill.
Oh I will just get one…then it turned into three…oops five…okay okay just 12…and so on and so on. I completely understand having backups, one is none, two is one 👍
Pro-tip: backup weapons can fail too...remember to get backup weapons for your backups 😁
i always equate it to golf clubs. each has it's purpose, and you're not going to play a round of golf with only a putter.
Only for fun. I know a guy that can drive 300 yards with a junky putter and that was when we were in high school so he's probably better 20 years later.
Ask any kid why he or she needs so many toys during his/her youth, and you'll have your answer.
Whoever dies with the most toys wins ;)
Investment toys
That too.
Because it's freaking fun. We don't need any other reason.

I helped an old man who was a friend disperse his collection of collectable guns. I ended up with as many as i could afford. He had a dusenburg that is now in lenos collection!
Whenever my girlfriend asks why I'm buying another gun, I just tell her that my wife would understand. Why defend, just be honest.
I use them for fishing, but my boats keep hitting icebergs and sinking so Im constantly getting new ones.
Them: "Do you really need that many guns?"
Me: "Why, are you selling?"
LOL
different roles for each of my firearms, Pistol/revolver for light to medium risk or when out and about, a lever gun for slightly more power or hunting, a battle type rifle for BIG groups of problems, only missing a Long range problem solver 🤔
When people ask me “why do you need some many guns” I say why do you ask so many dumb questions.
I have enough guns and ammo to equip every house in my neighborhood. In case of SHTF and WROL our neighborhood would be secured and access restricted.
I love when I get an idea when designing my guns and I can go over to my wall and find an example of how it was done well enough it was put into production, then I can learn from it and I tend to have more success when working on my version of the concept.
I finally understood it when my husband asked me why I need so many shoes 😂😍
I was gonna say that. When a woman asks me why i need so many guns, I ask why she needs so many purses/shoes/black dresses….
Question: "Why do you need so many guns?"
Me: "It's the Bill of Rights, not the bill of needs."
Best episode you two have done ever. Hands down.
"So many guns..." well, to me that threshold would be when Horders has to come and make paths through the stacks of rifles so I can find my toilet
LOL i can see that . im going to stop eventually .. my logic is that im paranoid if i have too many then i can't properly clean /oil them all . my personal opinion 10-15 is enough for me im not there yet though lol
@@blackticalmayhem8461 it’s not enough. When you get 16, you’ll find another.
Think of the different knives you have in your kitchen, let alone how many specialized knives a professional chef might have. Most might use an 8 inch chefs knife for most, but sometimes you need a paring knife, cleaver, boning knife etc
Let’s keep it on guns… Don’t even get me started on my knife collection!!! LOL
A carpenter doesn't have just one tool.
Not the" bill of needs", the" bill of rights". A little different, theyre gonna find out soon!

The anti-gun zealots and politicians would say one gun is too many.
But we already know that, and have a decent-ish idea of who and where they are.
But every good survivor knows one is none, and two is one.
and frequently do.
When a woman asks a man why he "needs" so many guns, he need only ask her why she "needs" so many shoes.

I use my guns, though, and can actually hit what I’m aiming at…
Love your videos man. Always a good watch. Thanks for everything you do in the community.
You can never have enough guns and ammo.
Ammo and components. In case of need, one can get firearm easily by taking it from the other person. In case of conflict there will be firearm everywhere. Ammo? Not so.
When I was a hardcore surfer I had 7 boards for different kinds of waves and conditions. That was a basic set. My friends had 14-30 boards. Guns for people who train and compete are no different with one exception: people who collect surfboards love to surf and use them. Some gun collectors never shoot or train and just like to have / hoard them.
Would actually love to see an updated lantern video, really liked those.

Wife: Why do you have so many guns?
Husband: Why do you have so many shoes?
When your wife asks "why?" put it in terms she is familiar with.
Ask her if she would go out to the mall in 6 inch stilettos?
Would she pick tomatoes in the garden while in 4 inch platform heels?
Would she wear sneakers with her best little black dress to go clubbing?
It's the same principle. Don't get defensive, or condescending, just explain it in her terms.
My right to own something will not be determined by my *need* to own something.

Its simple guns are not just tools they are collectibles, anyone who doesn't collect something cant understand why you would have more than 3 or so of that item...Gun guys may not understand why anyone would have 500 dolls or 500 stamps they dont use but the doll collector wouldn't understand having 500 guns either lol...To each his own...
