Very nicely done. I am a Vet and I trained with an M16. But that was in 1986, and I’ve forgotten a few things. Your video was a nice reminder of the similarities. For instance, I forgot the forward assist was called the forward assist. It’s interesting that you mentioned it’s rarely used with the AR15, whereas we were taught SPORTS. (Slap in the mag, Pull the charging handle, Observe the chamber, Release it, Tap - the forward assist, and Squeeze.) You are probably familiar with that. So I suppose with the AR15 it would be SPORS.
Anyway, great video. I learned a lot.

People should get used to always doing a press check and then tapping the forward assist to make sure the bolt goes into battery.

A very good presentation on basic operation of an AR 15. Suggestions, get a rifle vise or build a simple stand to hold the rifle. Also if you are going to talk about the amo ... please clarify and be specific as to the caliber of amo that can be fired in an AR15, is based on the specific caliber the rifle is chambered to fire. Yes a rifle chambered in 5.56 it can safely fire 2.33 , but not the reverse safely. Let us not forget 9mm. This can't be an issue glanced over, in any presentation.that is not geared to the topic. Thanks

I have that magazine lock and it’s actually pretty spectacular if you can find where to buy one. Comes with two Abus keys and you can order new keys directly from Abus. I think I got mine from White Oak Armory a couple years ago. If you lost the keys, you can mill it out with tools. It’s not a permanent theft solution, but it makes it so that nobody can just grab your AR and some magazines and go on a shooting spree without spending at least a few hours in a garage with some tools to get the lock out of the magazine well. It also locks the upper onto the lower. The only improvement I could see to this is perhaps adding a metal loop that could be locked onto a cable to make it harder to steal from a vehicle.
Apparently, the company that developed these also made them for Glock handguns, but those are impossible to find. If anyone knows of any just shoot me a response, please.
Decent variant basic operations video. I didn’t need it, but was curious about what you had to say.

I also live in what you would call an "unfriendly" state, and to be honest my own views on firearms would probably be considered "unfriendly" too. I do own a rifle inherited from my grandfather, who taught me target shooting on his property when I was very young. I cherish it and will continue to vote for the right of other people to have those same experiences, but I do not believe that civilians need (or are constitutionally guaranteed) access to the degree of firepower most of your viewers probably do. Frankly, I have no idea why this video came up in my recommendations.
All this to say, even though we likely disagree, I wanted to comment on how professional and educational this video is. I particularly appreciated that you discussed proper safety precautions first, and then repeatedly throughout the video. I also valued the efficient explanation that covers the basics without assuming the viewer has any prior knowledge of use or terminology. You focused on the important info without editorializing, and alluded to your personal views without getting into politics.
This is exactly the kind of video I would show someone I wanted to be more educated on the subject of gun control, so that they know what they're talking about before calling for bans on this or that. And if everyone calling for lightened gun control laws demonstrated the same degree of responsibility as you, I feel like we as a nation would have much more productive conversations.
    Cheers

I dink it's a brilliant idea that to make the safety bar EZr to operate,
u just bend it outwards away from the rcvr. As to operate it (after i did
ur bend suggestion), i've also found it's EZr to use my RH thumb's top to pull
the lever up, then push it down w the underside of my same thumb. All this
time, the rest of my RH fingers n palm r still gripping the pistol grip n my LH
is still holding the front armguard all the time.
Cheers, n Thx for ur ideas here in the video

At about 7 minutes and 20 seconds when you push the release button, what would happen if the charging handle was in and not pulled out?

    • @RavenTwoAlpha
      @RavenTwoAlpha 2 місяці тому +2

If the bolt is locked to the rear, it would still slam forward. The charging handle is basically just a device to pull the bolt back. If the bolt is locked to the rear, it doesn't matter where the charging handle is. The bolt will still slam forward. In fact, in the Army, when we did inspections, we woud lock the bolt to the rear, then slide the charging handle back forward to lock it. After inspection, we would just hit the bolt release.

Good for spare guns you’re not using for self-defense in your home to keep children from getting into it but I don’t see how it would’ve prevented school shootings where there’s a will there’s a way, but that is a good product. Happy to see it. Thanks for the simple video for the guys that aren’t familiar with rifles.
