In this video, I show you how to roll your fender lips. I would recommend having a friend help you with this are your hands will be pretty full with the tools needed. Hope you guys enjoy it. Also, drop some comments if you have so better ways of doing this. I had to do this to clear my new wheels and tires. 265/35R18 on Doss FF2 wheels 18x9.5 +35 5x100 in Matte Bronze.

“Make sure to get some good heat in there...”
Cracks paint 😂
I've done about 20 to 25 car and the reason your paint cracked was not enough heat. you need heat do the paint is flexible. to fix your cracked paint. use your heat and put super glue on it n push it back on then after it drys use a bit of clear fingernail polish over the crack to seal it. good luck
Thomas Rossi smart dude you are
It also looks like he’s doing to much to fast
How much degrees would you recommend to heat up the heater?
you forgot one critical step. vape before you roll yo
Ivan Belen hahahahahahah im dead
You must sip some small batch nano brew beer
cool tutorial. So much easier now that it was back in the day.
+DoctaM3 Yeah, I used the hammer and dolly method on my 68 Mustang back in High school worked great. The steel on newer car's seems like it wouldn't be able to take that abuse without getting nice dents.
Nicely done man!!
This is also very good for your paint, it helps getting fissures and cracks in paint
Always wondered how to use this fender roller, Thanks William
good video if you want to learn what not to do...,Slow and steady wins the race
I use clear finger nail polish to touch up chips that have gone down to bare metal. Left untreated though and then you're painting a whole quarter panel and possibly a blend into the rear door if the paint work is too far forward.
The amount of hipster is high with this one
Good video, I just did this my my hatch as well and used a lot more heat, had a tiny little crack close to the bumper, other than that it was good, just used subaru touch up paint to fill it, but I hate how the fender doesnt smoothly flow to the bumper now since its pulled, thanks for the video, mase me man up and do it.
99% of Subaru owners look the same
Indecisyve yea, like total douchebags
Veight Rwd88 😂😂
i must be in the 1% then
@@Reserved_Rogue nope, you look like a total douchebag.
Like whyyyy?!?! Why?!?!?
Love your dog man
good video brother, sexy looking wheels fits the subaru well
"those lugs are on there pretty good!" as you use a 12 inch ratchet to break them loose.. LOL
+LastHumansGarage should have used the 6 inch just for effect lol
***** That was a small breaker bar.
The issue is the leverage; 12" isn't enough, whether it's a breaker bar, socket drive or cross wrench. ;)
U guys are all gay for talking about this
Good video. One suggestion for others who try this. Go slower with adjusting the tension (the part he keeps tightening) and take your time. Also more consistent heat will help the paint stretch with the metal more reliably.
nice work!
I cant wait for the reveal of the rolled fenders
Huh that's a neat tool awesome :)
+HyperBlue STI Yeah it's definitely a must have for this.
Lmao the roller spooked him!
dog looks sick
I don't think it's mentioned in the video (although it looks like it was performed at least), but on AWD cars with an open center diff, you'll want to make sure both wheels on the same axle are raised off the ground whenever rotating either hub, to avoid damage to the drivetrain. Might even need to have all 4 raised.
Yay for my focus st. factory rolled fenders son
thanks for sacrificing your car to show the technical job. i always wondered what "rolling" meant.
+LastHumansGarage hey man funny seeing you over here. Cheers!
Lol
The wheels are gonna look so sick! Sucks about the paint cracking though :(
Nice work!! Any updates on what you did to fix the paint that cracked on the fender?
Lololo Lolol bump from the dead. He killing that fender lololo
cool can't wait
Bro one tip: use truck bed liner for the undercarriage. You can apply it with 3 inch paint rollers. Works great, and is great at protecting stuff lol
Subie Sammy probly not too suitable for weight stages but overall sounds durable good tip thanks! It even helped me by you helping him.
Right On!
Hey Blake, really dig your videos.
Think you can do a quick video on proper jacking and jackstand locations for the wrx? Thanks
SSNougat Read your owners manual lol.
SSNougat if you don't know how to properly jack your car then you probably shouldnt try to do any work to it. Imo
That looks that family guy beard where Peter feeds the bird and doesn't want to let it go...lol
About to mount 265/35/18's on my 2017 WRX. Was told that I wouldn't have to roll the fenders as long as it wasn't an STI. Still debating the issue in my head. I hate to have to go back and do it after the fact. Then again, as long as I keep fatties out of the back seat I should be fine.
God damn, thats a nice beard. Oh yeah sweet vid too !
Thanks Buddy! Cool Channel by the way.
Those two little paint cracks: try covering them with a small piece of clear packing tape. Sounds rinky drink, but it is effective. It's pretty stealthy. You can't "fix" cracked paint. Cover it up, seal it some way or sand and paint. I'd tape it.
My brother just got some ambit RT8s 18x9.5 et38
Your dog looks just like a Wilbert
Back in the day we would bust out the Louisville Slugger to di this lol!
hey so what did you end up doing to cover that paint you mess up on? (6:11 on your video) i had the same issue too but i dont what to use. be great if you get back at me about it. thanks!
cover up the chips and cracks with some touch up paint so you don't have rust issues.
I saw this coming
Wilbert is worth the like
265 thats some serious rubber! lovely choice of wheels too they look great
Just an FYI you will need to split he hub and bearing to take the 3" arp studs. Theres methods out there to trim down the stud for the front and back but I dont really care removing material on the studs.
I had the studs done on the front of my 2010 sti hatch and just waiting for some extra cash to do the rear with new bearings and hubs.
+Chad Sergerie thanks for the heads up. Sounds like I may be making two videos on this then lol. Fronts then rears.
ROOKIE!😝
How much does it poke with +35 offset? +1 on Hub centrics.
Do you have paint damage after that hope it wont RUST!
Maybe try wet sanding and touch up paint
Great job with your videos
+Manuel Aguayo I like that idea thanks
Super glue that paint back. Get some heat to it and press it back down
Okay dont care about the rims... obviously. Get on with the damn rollin'!!
if i have dent right in my fender would this fix it?
I have a 13 WRX sedan. Do I need to roll my fenders to fit the same specs?
hey Blake i have a stock 2016 hyper blue STi 8.5" wheels, wanna install new Michelin pilots on the rims .... can i go 255/40/18 or 265/35/18 ???? stock was 245/40/18
Watching that almost hurt me more than that fender... Go slower and be more gentle, you won't chip or crack your paint. I wouldn't recommend being that aggressive with a roller.
Lol ikr hes all trying to finish all fast and going all aggressive 😂 it supposed to be a slow process going one step at a time
You should always heat up the fender. If you dont, you risk cracking and buckling, no matter how slowly and gently you roll it.
Cheers
U put of hand break on or off?? Bro
When you do whatever it is you are going to do to prevent rust from occurring you should make a video on that please
+Cj Lotzer Will do!
The biggest tip, do the whole lip at the same time, don’t work little sections at a time or it won’t look uniform.
As well, be careful how much pressure you are applying and the angle you’re working it at. It’s pretty easy to screw up the lip and cause ripples in the guard.
Dylan Baxter I was thinking that. Get an even roll that way
I just ordered the easton to roll my 19 series gray wrx. I keep hearing do small sections but I agree spreading the pressure across the arch from end to end should in theory keep it from deforming the lip edge. We’ll see how it goes. I did my MK5 with a borrowed easton no problems. Any other tips greatly appreciated tks 👊🏽
Can you make a video of when you cover up the he chipped paint and such?
+Plazoh yeah I will make one on that.
What kind of tires were those? All I could see was Hankook. I really dislike the tires I have right now.
Went way to aggressive with the roll. Gotta start basically flat with the fender and do it as a whole not in sections but great video
Yeah, same thing I was thinking, ouch.
treated that fender like a cheap date.
This would be my first rolling fenders on my 1999 legacy subie and everything has to be the same correct 🤔
Mr.blake please help me to install lowering springs to my wrx 2016 pls..
Hey those are some lovely wheels! I've been wanting that style for my bugeye but i'm scared about the whole 9.5 width and not actually being able to fit. Can't wait to see how it looks all done!
9.5 is fine, you will need to roll the rear fenders, one or two degrees camber and fettle with the alignment somewhat after as its a pain. I'm running 8.5s with lowered springs, no rub or need to roll anything just alignment after and still have about 5mm wheel gap. If you ran coilovers it would be pretty flush and still have pretty good drive-ability.
Where did you get that roller or buy
You did well man, but i suggest next time do it a bit slower,, and hear up the surface nicely 😊
Now time for some coilovers
+Josh Ansin I couldn't agree more!
All in good time, when are those badass brakes going on?
Were the wheels rubbing enough that you had to roll the fenders? I have a GR STi sedan and I was thinking about running wheels and tires in the exact same specs but I heard that this setup would not rub. Thank you!
+Jeff Chimenti I never even ran the wheels before rolling the lips. I wanted to do this before I even had an issue. It hasn't rubbed at all but I did roll them so this would not even be an issue.
great job bro. I'm going to have to look into getting a set of DOSS wheels
Nice! I'm really loving the look of them.
I think the link to the roller is pointing to a different roller now? I bought and it seems longer than yours. It’s too long to do the side of the fender well!
That is a magnificent beard. If I had that beard, I'd hide sparrows in it.
Did you clean the lip first it's possible you got something between the fold and that could have cracked your paint
Hey Blake, did you roll ur front fenders? I'm going to run a similar set up thanks
+Justin Yang no, I didn't have to.
Willbert aint having none of your shit today
I like his beard
youszaaaa! Dudes punishing their cars for no reason, so sad :(
Any tips on getting the fender roll even on both sides? Or can you adjust the roller to be the same? Just wondering cause I've tried rolling bread dough and I can't do that evenly... Haha
HAHA I would just make sure to keep the same angle as the fender and work slow to achieve the look and fit you want.
Thanks, man! Love the channel. Look forward to more DIY videos :)
Take it from someone who knows, this is much more efficient than any baseball bat or baton.
I think I need to do this. Mine rubs during autocross.
+My WRX Channel Yeah, do it before the fender gets taken out.
I felt you were kinda of aggressive with tightening....
Bro bro that does look like a freakin Gremlin do you feed this thing at night
can some one tell me the song on 5:18
Smallest breaker bar ever. Lol
Subaru's have the thinnest paint around. You probably have to go slow as hell in order to not crack it when rolling.
the thicker the paint the more apt it is to crack, you dingus.
Hey Blake with that low offset wheel you got, How's the car handling? any problem with a low offset? BTW like your channel. keep up the good work. learn alot.
The car handles amazing with the new wheels and tires! I haven't had any problem with the +35 offset at all after rolling the finders.
Don't worry about the paint chipping. after I rolled and pulled and lowered my car more on the new wheels I would rub the fenders every once in a while so touching it up is kinda pointless lol
+Christopher Hernandez Yeah its bound to happen.
i recommend sanding where it chipped a little and touch up paint on the damaged arear to keep the chips from getting bigger ..good job though..im #THEFASTLANE FENDERROLLING
+Josue Silva thanks Josue I need to do that soon.
No problem bro i appreciate the video.
i just wanted to see it rolled and with wheel on car lowered back down and all to show clearance gained
Wonder if he read the direction told not to roll the rear.
Rock&Roll the directions said don't roll double wall fenders, which the Subaru doesn't have.
Too much stress at the same time, then it cracks, we live and we learn
I have never heard of this before. What exactly is "rolling" your fenders? what is its purpose?
You do this if you have wider tires so that the fender lips don't cut the tires.
get some wrb and touch it up
hi, what do you think rota wheels or doss wheels???
+gabriel arnez ardiles I Really like these Doss wheels but I think Rota makes decent wheels also.
I have not the machine for fenders, as I can do ?? otherwise you know ??
baseball bat will work but not the best way.
Talk about making life easier..
I tried rolling my fender cold turkey, no heat gun and just a 2 inch pipe 3 feat long.
Four blisters later and a migraine from all the pressure and effort..
Noway will I ever do it again .
Too much bs involved.
Never again
that is the mangy dog..
We had just rescued him about a week before this video. He’s a good looking healthy boy now.
Best way to fuck your car up. Although I personally wouldn’t need a tutorial on that lol
looks like you're heating the polyurethane roller more than the fender!!
+Gannon Kupko ha ha yeah probably I would definitely recommend a friend to help with this.
hey blake will a 18x9.5 +38 rub on a 14 wrx without rolling the fenders?
+bry954rr The front will clear fine. The rear fender lips you may have to roll. It all really depends on what size tire you go with.
+Blake's Garage would you know what tire sizes would clear just fine?
+bry954rr sorry I'm not sure. I have 265/35R18's also all tires are not the same height/width even tho the numbers are the same. It didn't rub that bad in the rear I just rolled them to be safe.
Cool man, thanks for the info
Being an awd did you have to jack all four wheels off the ground?
Read up on how differentials work.
You went in way to agressively that's why the paint cracked.
You're supposed to go at it progressively with the angle of the roller.
2:13 That's what she said.
You didn’t roll the entire fender out before applying more pressure. You only did half and then applied more pressure starting the other side which caused it to crack between those two points
