you should remove the coilovers to simulate bottoming out when checking for rub anyways. just do that before you start rolling and use the jack to adjust height. I thought the roller I had wasn't going to fit either but then I realized the obvious
I was looking for tips on pulling fenders to do my 40 ford but I’ve also got a 96 V8 Miata with 17x10 +25s so of course I had to watch this! Turns out after the dozen videos I’ve seen now I could have just watched this one! Very well done thank YOU for posting it!!!
Thanks for watching! I also have 15x10's on my current NA, and I did a video about the specifics of fitting that setup as well. Not a fender rolling vid but more of a tips and tricks video. It's called "how to take your wheel fitment to the next level"
Dude you have no idea how you saved the day! I have a 1991 Toyota MR2 and now because of you I'll be able to go more aggressive. I was the 1000 LIKE and just subscribed. Thank you so much man!
Great instruction. I've watched three different people show this. Yours was the best. Looking to get my own fender roller so I can do the fenders on my full custom 2006 Civic coupe. Rock on, roll on.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I had eBay spec coilovers in my Miata when I put it and had heaps of scrubbing issues, I just went and bought a set of MCA suspension coilovers and followed this tutorial to get it not to scrub and I cannot get it to scrub anymore! Again Thank you! Your videos are awesome! Keep it up!
great video again i learned a lot. Only thing i would possibly do differently: where you cut the metal for the releifs or removing the fender brackets, the metal is exposed and will almost instantly start to rust in these areas. A quick squirt of spray paint in these areas would take all of 10 seconds and provide some protection Another great video man thankyou
Nice Work! A stock look is also my preferred way to go, hope to roll mine soon, the mk1 miata was such a good design only the details need to be improved upon to achieve what you might consider perfection.
Bro I feel like an expert now! I always said the best way to learn is from others mistakes. Thanks for the pointers.. now I start round one on the civic
Nice video, love mazdas and this was what i was looking for about rolling. One thing; you should tell people cover the bare metal afterwards to make sure rust doesnt get in.
My main issue with this Video? You cannot remove the front coilovers in the way described. Maybe that works with these short Tein ones but nor with stock and not with mine (vmaxx xtreme). I tried for several hours and ended just with scrathing the metal with the bolts that hold the coilovers in place on the top. so i would have to remove the uper controllarm - but when u remove the long bolt that holds this in place, you need to have all of your wheels set adjusted at the shop. Thats where i gave up or better to say changed from this description. im gonna use the "Verschrenkungstest" that the german TÜV is gonna use to legalize the Wheel/Tires combo for the Papers (raise Front right and back left Wheel on 12cm wood plates, then steering the wheels, then same with front left and back right wheels). Also German TUV requires 6mm space between Tire and Fender, (but it depends on how good willing the person is, whos testing it). I want to keep as much of the fender liner intact, mybe heating the plastic and forming it is an option?
Working towards it!! Maybe someday. But I don't intend on changing up the content just to get more subscribers, I'm having fun doing it just the way I like.
Cool. I agree with everything you said and did. great video photography and the audio was perfect. you are a good teacher. and no annoying music; how nice.
Yeah I wish I would have too, I finished the car at night so I didn't have time to take any pictures. One side note is these same techniques can be used to fit really wide tires for grip driving, so it's not just about #datstance :)
Im loving the MCM shirt dude !! Ive just gotten a Daihatsu Mira and im gonna stance her out and i was gonna use some of your tips . Definitely a sub 👍🏼
I just got my 15x9 Storm S1's in and put them side by side with the stock 15x6. Holy crap what a difference. I REALLY hope they fit well onto the car without having to make a TON of cuttings and rolling. Should've went with the 15x8's... but I wanted to be more like Greg :(
@@ConnorGrosseFilms I put on 225/45s, and they fit perfectly! I did have to roll the fenders a bit, but I didnt have to pull them. They tucked right in. I'm loving them so far!
Balto D nice man I just ordered some coil overs for my nb can’t wait to get them in and lower, I’m on 15x7 205/50 rpf1s so definitely no problem with fitment
I did that some years ago on my Golf GTI MK2. I didnt cut these Plasticthings of the Inside of the Fender. What I did was bending them with a heatgun to fit behind the rolled fender. So no Water could get there. Looked like stock.
TheEpicCrumpet I've been driving the Genesis every day, it's just such a fun car to drive for everything (ice cream runs). S2000, my bro is driving it right now. I needed the garage space as I am building the engine for my 300ZX. I want to get it done before school starts back up.
great video very informational and well put ... and i loved that i didnt have to fast forward or skip any of it do to rambleing on about random shit lol , thanks for the video
@@damienfrizzell9394 The tires deform down closer to the road surface but return their shape once back up to the fender area. However bushing flex will affect fitment so it's best to not make it too tight.
I've done that before as well. Believe it or not, once the fender is rolled and pulled, it's actually highly effective for getting a few extra mm of clearance!
What size are your wheels / offset and tires do you have? 15x8 +20? I love them! I don't want to stance mine, but I do love the look that yours has- especially where it almost looks like you have fender flares.
Hey Greg, wouldn't it be better if you made more cuts into the the fender lip to make sure everyting can bend up without interference? Thanks in advance!
No it's not necessary to make additional cuts, and the reason I don't do it is because if the tire were to rub the inside lip, cuts in the lip could damage the tire.
TheCarPassionChannel Oh yes, I hadn't thought about that. Thanks man! Keep it up, and, as I said before, you still deserve an awesome intro for your videos ;)
I have a 2009 honda civic sedan on 18x8.5 +15 do you thing I need to go negative camber if I manage to roll my fenders like your red Mazda? still on stock suspension which will change in the near future.
I heat the fenders on every pass, on every car I've ever done. 30 year old paint is not always going to bend and stretch without cracking, especially at the seam.
Amazing. I've got a Staggered set of xxrs for the nb2 the rear is a 0 and rhe front is +20 I believe. Non the less. Extremely helpful vid my dude. 🤌🤠🔥🗿
I just found your channel about a month ago and have gone through everything! Im def in the market for a miata. You make this looks super easy. Im coming from the hyundai community....my question to you is how do you keep it from rusting? Ive rolled fenders before and even spraying the fenders with paint...it still reers its ugly head. Keep up the good work!
Yeah when I was in florida, we disnt have to worry much either, unles you were beachside. But the man the northeast is killer, though the miata is only going to be a 3 seasons car and stay in the garage when not driven. Keep those vids coming! Stoked about the 1.8 build.
Hi is this the same as a mk2 ?. I have a mk2 and i'm about to roll my guards I wanted to get as much information as possible. I know the cars are different of course but is it the same way of doing it I.E the tabs and relief cuts I think I'll just do the same as you have but I'll adapt it to my car I just wanted to ask anyway just in case I may run into an issue. Thanks.
Love the video, I have a question, when removing the shock, how is that simulating a shock at full load? I would think the suspension would just keep traveling until it literally hits anything else.
when the shock is removed, he places a jack under the control arm and jacks it up until its bottomed out. then the spins the wheel to check for rubbing spots, dont forget to turn the wheel as well
Can you make a video showing how you fling out your fender like your Miata? And would I have to do that to fit a 9in wheel with +35mm offset in my na or can I roll it just like you did in this vid?
I have a cuestion i have a set of rims front are 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear . But of rear wheels of tires hit on my fenders what can i do there. ? Can u help me

Oh yeah
Because we hairdressers ha ha ha!!!
Definitely one of the best fender rolling vids on YT right now.
Great video on fender rolling. Best one I've ever seen. Your a awesome teacher 👨🏫
When I rolled my fenders the roller barely fit in the wheel well so I had to start with an aggressive angle :/
It was as small as it could get, my coil was just to low
You can raise the coilover to avoid that.
Raise or remove your coilover then, lazy bum ;)
you should remove the coilovers to simulate bottoming out when checking for rub anyways. just do that before you start rolling and use the jack to adjust height. I thought the roller I had wasn't going to fit either but then I realized the obvious

good thing I watched more vids on it, was gunna cut my stock fenders, but now ima borrow my buddies roller and pull em out as far as I can

superb video, very informative, very helpful; thanks for putting this together!
good video man, keep stuff like this going!

man, I love bacon
