- Rabbi Tovia Singer is the founder and director of Outreach Judaism, a Jewish counter-missionary organization. It describes itself as "an international organization that responds directly to the issues raised by missionaries and cults, by exploring Judaism in contradistinction to fundamentalist Christianity." Singer cautions regarding congregations that "are designed to appear Jewish, but are actually fundamentalist Christian churches, which use traditional Jewish symbols to lure the most vulnerable of our Jewish people into their ranks." Outreach Judaism was described by J. Gordon Melton in 2002 as an example of "the current state of Jewish counter-cult activity."

Jews are not Israel, because they are forbidden to eat the Lamb in the Matzos. They have no authority of Moses to interpret the Bible, they are under a curse in Jeremiah 17, and in Psalms 116 verse 11 God says " And in my dismay I said " all men are liars". The Jewish Rabbis are the Men of Judah, by the Bar Mitzvah , they cannot eat the Lamb in the Matzos. which Moses in Exodus 12 says shows such people may be hired hands or temporary residents in the land, but they are not Israel , thus they cannot eat the Lamb in the Matzos for the Lord's Passover. They cannot interpret the Bible, they have no Authority of God's Holy Spirit, they are forbidden to eat the Lamb in the Matzos. That is Moses Law. You cannot refute the Scriptures.

When you say "Fabrication" that is sort of nebulous because all human literature is a fabrication of human invention, and expression , not the direct reflection of Nature. So Nature plus the Human Talent, equals "Fabrication". But if you mean there is no historical value to the Bible, then Archaeologists would prove you wrong many times over. Ancient Babylon, was thought for a long time to be a legend, a myth , not real ,until in the 1880s archeologists found the site of Babylon.
The only correct assertion is that you presume that a book by Charles Darwin based on "Naturalism" must be more true, objectively , than say a book by Charles Dickens. That can be argued. A Book that portrays the REALISM of humanity may offer more TRUTH about the human condition , then any book on Evolution.
You missed the point. There were no Hebrew "Written" Torahs , some versions of the Law of Moses were written in Aramaic, in the Seventh Century B.C. as gifts from Gentiles to the Temple Israel, and those scrolls then were given over to the Judah Kings, because they could read Aramaic, and there was no such thing as a Hebrew Written System of Literature. The Law was only Oral by the Priests and they could TENURE the final abrogations and interpretations of the Law by the reason of being the SPEAKER whose MOUTH was the instrument of God to broadcast the Law in RECITATION. . So the entire debate over written matter is BOGUS, and has to be taken with a pinch of salt.
Jesus never wrote any books. Jesus was an Oral Torah Teacher, and it was considered the MIND of the TEACHER to be the MEDIUM through which device, God from Heaven, channels to the hearing of the people though the Mouth of the Speaker. Just as in the Law of the High Seas, in times of peril the Captain plays God Almighty and vows to kill anyone for even a minor violation , because the entire ship and it's passengers and crew may perish on the high seas in a storm. So then DRACONIAN LAW is based on a SUPREME LEADER, who assumes the authority of God and can ABROGATE , ABEYANCE , INTERPRET, and FULFILL A LAW to move it aside, and bring in NEW LAW that all must obey , or you will walk the plank..
CarmineFragione The point I am making here is that Rabbi Singer uses his videos to discredit Christianity while ignoring the fallacies of his own. Moses was not there at creation, therefore he could not know what Adam and Eve said. Moses has no way of knowing any communication of Cain and Abel....again, he was not there. Nebuchadnezzar put three Hebrew men in a furnace, but came out alive and not smelling of smoke, where is this historical miracle recorded anywhere but the Bible?

I'm am atheist, and I take issue with the rabbi saying atheists can't have morality without God, like we're dogs, but I love listening to him trash talk Christianity... he's as smart and funny as anyone I've ever heard from.

You can’t have morality without a metaphysical precursor to your morality. You need an ultimate good in order to be moral…rendering some objectivity and universality to your morality. Without a metaphysics morality becomes subjective….and we all know what that can turn into.

@@TheLastOutlaw289 Also even if you accept some objective metaphysical origin for morality, it leads to subjectivity. Which god is true? Many gods teach contradictory morals. Only one can be true. And if you prove one then which version of that God is true? Even in one religion, the various denominations disagree on what God thinks is good. Then even IF you get all that right. If God is the centre of morality, what if he changes his mind on what is moral?
One thing I must say regarding all revealed religions. They all burden the intellect to the point that one tends to lose their sense of the ineffable. Always having to interpret, explain, discern, calculate, debate meanings etc and so on. I find in my own spiritual life that I lose all internal sense of spirituality when weighed down with all that and I have to believe it is the same for others as I am no one special and not unlike most people. I found a kindred thinker about revealed religions when I read Thomas Paine's Age of Reason. "Just because it was revealed to one man does not mean I am obliged to believe it"
It is a good thing to bring on "insiders" to get more clues to "the puzzle" so it eventually can be solved.

Rabbi Singer’s sense of certainty regarding his religious beliefs undermines his credibility in his historical analyses. He seems equally confident of all his opinions and assertions. He treats his religious beliefs re Jewish “history” as factual. That said, I very much enjoyed and appreciated these three videos. Great work!
His skepticism does seem to only apply to beliefs outside of his chosen and cherished magical ones
Surely the Bible is very contradictive and filled with alagory and wrong translations but that's why God gives us the Holy Spirit to Interpret scripture. As far as I hear the Holy Spirit say to me concerning the women going back on the 3rd day was to see if Jesus spoke the truth about his own resurrection. Yes I agree that the writers of the Bible aren't correct in all their translations as not all of them had the Holy Spirit as Helper and Wisdom as Isaiah said in Chapter 55:1-3, but surely the women didn't take spices to annoint Jesus otherwise they were in unbelief and surely the Angel didn't sit on the stone that was roked away during a severe earth quake. 😅 Ok I understand that the letter kills ones faith but I continue to believe in the God of Israel and not in religion or routines how to serve the Creator of the Universe. I surely don't think of God as a stranger to me, but as a Father who created me, hence I am his daughter and not His servant. Isaiah 54:5 as He personally showed me through His angel and Holy Spirit visitation. So process this... 😊
Mark 9:30-32 (and also in Matthew 17:22-23) as follows: He said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise." But they did not understand what he meant and were afraid to ask him about it.
Derek, I'm so glad you made this a three parter so Rabbi Singer got plenty of time to explain things. I don't always see eye to eye with the Rabbi, but I always enjoy listening to him.

Singer cut him off, but I wish Derek would have been able to finish asking the Rabbi the question to the effect of "what kind of Greek translation text did the NT writers use and rely on if the completed Septuagint stamped by Origin wasn't until the mid 3rd century?"
Clearly the NT writers were relying on some Christological-centric Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible --especially if, as Tovia Singer insists, the writers of the NT and the Church fathers weren't conversant themselves in Hebrew. Tovia has some apparent incongruencies in his argument that I would like him to address.

Many people christian and atheist alike look down on Jesus mythicism but from what Tovia Singer says, much of it lines up as a precursor to mythicism. Especially what he said about Paul.

I love this channel. I have discovered it only few days ago and I am binging its content. The Rabbi is really interesting, though I am pretty sure he refuses to acknowledge that Judaism is also based on previous myths and mysticism of other tribes adapted by some Israelites and the Tanakh is full of myths and legends, with made up heroes and made up events.

In 2 Peter 3:14-17, Peter warns that many will misinterpret Paul's 'difficult' to understand writings, resulting in lawlessness (without Torah) and destruction. Are you guys absolutely certain that you're not misrepresenting Paul?

Not mentioned here, but considering cultural context, how old were the Apostles? Peter was a tax collector, so he had a job. Mathew was married. Besides those, boys of 13 and up seek rabbis to learn from. What we read as fisherman of the others, may have been fisher boys learning the trade from their fathers, until a rabbis came by and said “follow me”. Could Jesus have been hanging out with teenage boys? That’s a bit disturbing considering what a 30 year old man could have pressed upon very young malleable boys. They could have been told anything and lured into a cult, then later gained followers in their later years and who knows what Marry Magdalene had on the influence of them after their rabbi died? Then Rabbi Singer talks about a Jesus character mentioned in the hidden Talmud who brought up all sorts of idolatry up from Egypt who was born to mother named Mary after being impregnated by a Roman soldier around that era.
And there was a great earthquake and the saints came out of the graves and walked into Jerusalem yikes thats the zombie episode in Matthew

Notice how when he was arguing against Christianity he had legitimate inarguable points, end when he was arguing for God he appeals to "we know what's wrong!" .
One, there are plenty of arguments that explain conscience that don't require invoking a deity.
Two, do we know what is wrong? Any two people will differ on any number of issues about what is wrong.
Then he appeals to our differences from other animals as proof of our special position in reality. Every organism has things that make it different from everything else, why does it follow that our differences are evidence cosmic favour and not, for example, an octopus? They are unique in many ways too

It can get really tough! Many of my long term friends and family are now disowning me and/or telling lies about me. Go figure.
It's odd, isn't it? It's often said that without religion there would be no morality. I'm not religious and yet I have a moral compass at all times. I find that many religious people, however, have an on/off switch on their moral compass. They turn it off if you don't believe in the thousands of years old story they believe in with no evidence.

Rabbi Tovia Singer is making perfect sense, as far as a regular burial is concerned... But, if as Bart Ehrman, and many others have said, that the Romans hardly ever allowed for any kind of formal burial, after a crucifiction... especially for someone who was a known insurrectionist, that interrupted the Romans big money making scheme at the temple! So then, the body was left on the cross for days or weeks, and then thrown in a common burial pit... then there is no resurrection story to be had, at all! I mean what is doubting Thomas going to do? Put his hand through the entire stomach area, where there are NO bones, and NO flesh! The more you know, the more you know that the Christian story is just Made Up FICTION!!!

I disagree on Paul. I know main stream christianity has distorted Yashuas/Paul's message. Because why would jews receive Yashua as the fulfillment of the Tanakh when mainstream christianity shows them to be in conflict with Tanakh? Yahsua said he wasn't against Torah in any way if anything he told his disciples to 'do' and 'teach' even the least of the commandments in the Torah. (Read Matthew ch. 5 in context).

Good video, however in addition to Mary Magdalene having a demon cast out of her, there are at least 2 other instances where she exists aside from the resurrection scenes. 1st is when Lazarus, her brother, gets resurrected (which Tovia Singer actually mentions in this show,) and 2nd when she washes Jesus' feet with her hair and puts perfume on him. These are both in the book of John.
Tovia’s answer to the question of why did some of the disciples doubted in Matthew 28:17 gives NO room for any other reason but HIS OWN. Consider this: the “disciples” were not just 12 Apostles, but multitudes of people. They were at a mountain in Galilee. Yahshua resurrected from the dead unlike any OTHER resurrection of the dead like the widow’s son, (Luke 7)or Lazarus (John 11). They eventually died in time, whereas, Yahshua BODY NEVER experienced corruption as David prophesied, “For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.” (Psalm 16:10). Therefore, His state of being as to His body was different in that He was not subject to the material world which in seen in Luke 24:31, where it mentions two disciples were conversing with Yahshua and “didn’t recognize Him” until at table: Luke wrote: “When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them. 31And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight!” (Luke 24:31). So Tovia strikes out again.
I like how he mentions they went back to the tomb after 3 days because they had to wait till Passover was done. Well wasn’t he killed on Passover? More problems with the gospels.

Morality is evolved, it took TIME (I mean both from fish to human moral brains, AND from stone age customs to modern ethics/law)
...AND it took EFFORT (meaning it's not just emergent and evolved but also has parts invented consciously on purpose).
It equipped us with moral senses, some of which are great, others not so much.
