SCP-2978 - Motherburg : Object Class - Safe : Microscopic SCP
Item #: SCP-2978
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-2978 are currently contained in Site-17, secured in a biometrically locked chamber. The containment chamber, and all SCP-2978 communities within, are to be observed at all times using high-speed HD camera surveillance and digital microscope systems. Access is limited to Level 2 staff.
No storage peripherals exceeding 128MB in size are to be inserted into any SCP-2978-A instance. Should populations of SCP-2978-B increase to over SCP-2978-A capacity, additional sections of compatible hardware are to be added to prevent overpopulation events.

i know im in the minorty, but, i cant help but think the safe ones are some of the best scps, they are, at the very least, some of the most creative and interesting ones.
Marcos Danilo Not all of them need to be end of the world scenarios. My favorite scp is 3930, and it doesn't have a containment class because it does not exist.
Takaithepanda
Are you saying it's an SCP that doesn't exist within its own narrative despite having reports written about it or do you mean you literally just put a bunch of numbers in this comment that don't relate to anything?
Marcos Danilo
It only makes sense for the safe scp"s to be interesting building narrative with a lack of conflict means the object itself therefore has to be interesting there's probably a lot of attempts at safe scp's that are boring and don't get accepted to the site as a result.
Jan Schievink The former. It's essentially a void of space that has nothing in it, but people still see various things and buildings inside the void, and anyone who enters the void ceases to exist.
Jan Schievink Though I would like to point out you could have confirmed whether or not I was making it up by looking up SCP-3930.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought that motherboards and other computer bits looked like tiny cities.
lol me too.
Jesse GD me too

Do motherboards look like cities, or do our cities look like motherboards...

You worked for that phd, flaunt it Dr. Millar

Lol tiny space ship flying around the lab.
to boldy go where no scp-2978 gone before. Also I owned one of those mother board and still do. I wonder is scps are living on it now.
A spaceship router that travels faster than my internet connection.
Hehe tiny ship go brrrr
Haha funny ship
FLYING AROUND AT THE SPEED OF SOUND
The Foundation needs a shrink ray. If they can get small enough to communicate with the "Motherburgians", it would be interesting to see if they have their own version of the SCP Foundation.
The problem is that they apparently can't perceive humans.
Robert Birtch holy s***
Would that mean that the tiny scp foundation would have a tiny scp 2978?
@@lekeris7014 try billion
They probably have a few captured headlice in their little mini scp: Headlouse, designation: keter. 🙂
3 months for creatures that live 90 hours? That's a news story that lasted for over two thousand years.
Alexander F I guess that phenomenon would be better described as their historical record than news media?
What year are we in?
2018, AD.
AD means “after death”
You do realize that people are still talking about a guy who supposedly died “over two thousand years”
A.D. actually stands for the Latin phrase anno domini, which means “in the year of our Lord.”
The B.C./A.D. dating system is not taught in the Bible. It actually was not fully implemented and accepted until several centuries after Jesus’ death.
People mourn and kniw stuff for much longer than that, like pompeii and stuff, so its less surprising when you think about it, but still surprising
Kaileen Gauthier
If the event was a massive change or tragedy, I can see people remembering the event long after it's passing.
An example that comes to mind is the city of Baghdad, it was pretty much a crown jewel of the Islamic empire when it was built, being a seat of trade, knowledge, and leadership. Then the Mongols came and just wrecked the place, over a thousand years ago. I remember hearing from my teacher that Baghdad never really recovered from that.
I imagine that when the lice attacked it was pretty much mini Attack on Titan.
Gabriel Shepard lol
*MAN ALL BATTLE STATIONS*
The explosives were thunder spears. Bet.
I’m not a mathematician. but I think the way the beings were described. It sounds like the lice would only be about 2-3 times bigger.
@@dontworryaboutit3437 - So, a 15m titan
i love how he says safe like its a relief
Yeah he sounds cheerful
One of those SCPs that's made great by the stories attached, as opposed to the concept itself.
Robert Fancyman well the same could be said about 682
I've always struggled with this since the skip writing community seems to have beef with the idea of "a thing what does a thing" which would leave us with the need to develop narrative.
it could be made into a netflix show... someone get it greenlit
One of the good things about SCP's is that they are a breeding ground for creative narratives, and the creative commons license that the site uses means that people can create stories around SCP's without fear
Like 3008
I like it. Making SCPs all dangerous monsters can be a crutch in my view. Not that it can't be good story telling, just that there's more to mystery/sci-fi than that in my view.
crazypants88 I agree. One of my favorites literally does not exist. SCP 3930
I'll check it out soon, there's no shortage of interesting SCPs, that's for sure.
crazypants88 I recommend listening to Site 42's reading, since Volgun hasn't done one yet.
Noted, thanks :)
You must be new if you even remotely thought all were bad
This just seems low-key adorable tho. They're so tiny
Can you imagine that we go beyond the solar system and a containment breach alarm goes off?
"My name is Researcher Millar"
But sir, the board says "Doctor Millar"!
The board's a cognitohazard. Leave it be.
But under the name "Millar" says "P.H.D." which implies he is in fact a doctor
You have been demote to D-Class perssonal. Please report to the SCP-682's chamber for your first assignment.
@@amohotepv well thats oof
This is the last video that our dear, precious narrator was a ‘researcher’. From now on, he’s been promoted to a doctor! Good for him!
Old motherboards always reminded me of little city's, this scp just takes it to the next level.
Lol exactly
You can always hear millers pleasant surprise in his voice when he sees he’s reviewing something safe instead of physic bugs or carnivorous buildings
This is adorable.
Just imagine how the idea to write messages to the scp-2978-b came to be.
*A couple researchers having a meeting*
Researcher 1: How could we find out who created scp-2978?
Researcher 2: How about we ask them?
*Everyone in the room turns and looks at him*
Researcher 3: Thats a idea
Researcher 1: (stares harshly before throwing Researcher 2 out the underground window)
Researcher 4: *Sips from coffee cup*
That seems about right.
Researcher 5: oh come on. What are the odds that would work
researcher 6: we have a scp that is god, want to ask, him??
SCP researcher: " So do you mind if I call you Person of Interest."
Person of Interest" greetings program and no my designation is not Person of Interest, my designation is Tron and I fight for the users."
this guy was building a computer then thought his motherbord looked like a tiny city
Just imagine if the tiny ships goes to quantum computer and docks with it
Infinite powaaaaa
A great one in my opinion, i love sentient scp's that has the abillity to answer questions they are always interesting
Aww I feel kind of bad for them...
Ok, first off: this fella made the sims into a real thing
Second off: I love how this scp is designed. If it wouldn’t have a MTF crawling through my windows, I’d love to have this SCP, as I’d keep it in my basement and continually add onto it, just to see how advanced these lifeforms, who I will refer to as “Bergites” will become
I am reminded of the Simpsons Halloween episode where Lisa made a microcommunity.
"Whoops! My finger slipped." *:D*
Aaand, now they're dead. *:0*
And that was based off an old Twilight Zone episode.
SIMPSON'S DID IT!
DickDickstein
THE SIMPSON'S DID NOTHING WRONG!
I think someone needs to make a SCP story from Andre Bechert.
WE’RE GONNA BUILD A WALL AROUND 2978-A AND WE’RE GONNA MAKE 2978-B PAY FOR IT.
M2978-AGA
MAKE 2978-A GREAT AGAIN
Lol !! Hell no ..soooo funny
Those goddamn 24s taking our jobs. I say send thyem back where thyey came from!
@ThisIsMyRealName da phaq does this even have to do with the conversation? when did COVID come into all of this.
@ThisIsMyRealName I wish...
I have better idea. Consider them as citizens and let them vote. Oh, wait. They would still not vote for puppet with a rotten brain and lust for children.
Can’t wait for BurgerBurg.
That will be stupid and hilarious.
I think this is one of the most perplexing SCPs.
Potentially *thousands* of sentient life forms living in captivity, at super speed, and this makes no reference to what will become of them!
Will they live in a box forever, without contact??
Will their population grow endlessly??
Will we form a working relationship with them and undo their religious society?
Keeping them in the dark until someone the Foundation has so little information on seems cruel..
Our so called soul nothing more than powered matter with electron.
They and us are the same.
@@hellatze you assume, their is no way of truly knowing. You have faith that what you believe is true. But you do not know. None of us can know everything. And this is one of the many thing we may never know.
@@irontemplar6222 yeah righty do.
I dont care about afterlife.
Bruh. This is the cartoon Reboot.
Jesse Mathis where? I see no preaching, only you trying to discredit him for no reason
glad i'm not the only one who sees motherboards as tiny cities
god I love this site. Every SCP could have an entire novel written about it.
Funny thing is I wrote a short story a bit like this ages ago--not a city based in a motherboard, but a miniature society like this a guy found in behind the wall of a closet in his new home, making a city from discarded electronics left by the previous owner, who either knew of them or possibly helped create them.
But yeah, I agree most of these could be expanded into great short stories or novels.
I'd want to find Dr. [REDACTED] so he could finish his work.
SomeKindaSpy ya Dr. [REDACTED]
Is quit possibly the most talked about doctor who almost never finished his work and knows everything
He was supposed to create the perfect system 😆
It is too bad that some company or group isn't paying you to do all the SCPs. I would love that.
I liked the detail that one of the USB ports functioned as a bus station. Cause USB stands for "universal serial bus". I'm not sure if the author intended that, but it still made me chuckle.
as a long time computer nerd, this was one of the most amusing scps I've heard so far. a lot of them are creepy or terrifying or world ending, but this is right up there with the telepathic spider and the sentient cephalopod for amusing factor.
Im a flying Modem! WEEEEEEEEE
Great, now I'm wondering what would happen if SCP-079 was connected somehow to this one. Would 079 end up killing instances of 2978-B, or would they end up changing his functions xD
Considering 079's outdated hardware, the SCP-2978-B instances would probably see him as some kind of ancient ruin.
Brandon Velde , Now imagine them trying to colonize it.
They'd call it The Grid 😆
Or that Cyborg girl.
Lol! So it's basically Mainframe from Reboot. Thank the user!
Evil SCP 2978 b welcome to MegaFrame
When the modem started flying around that weird internet commercial from the 90s started playing it my head
You’re going surfin on the internet
As soon as I heard “hundreds of SCP-2978-B individuals observed entering tested USB port containing router” I thought to myself “it’s gonna be a plane or something, isn’t it?”
What would happen if you shoved the motherboard SCP into that sentient computer SCP that constantly requests to be connected to the rest of the internet?
If some major containment breach occured, I'd be downloading Volgun videos asap to chill in my basement to while awaiting doom.
Horton hears an SCP
It’s like someone went into my childhood and asked me what I’ve always though computer parts looked like. I used to imagine entire cities and towns inside my pc 😂😂
It would be awesome to see you do 2508. There's another journal from Dr. Orion (written by Eekium as part of their Aleph Null series) that would make for an excellent addition to the video or a great standalone scp tale.
Really puts life in perspective... i think im going to lay in the bath for a few hours
I wonder what would happen if SCP-079 got connected to SCP-2978...
Love this soooo much. Keep up the good work Volgun!
This reminds me of when i used to build big ass cities with legos.
Mother should I build a wall?
Dammit i giggled
Pajamapants Jack yes
Make it 100 nano meters high!
Mother should I trust the government?
mother should I lewd the dragon lol-
NO
Will you ever do SCP 999?
i think hes doing all the relatively non famous ones
He did
Heath Stedman ua-cam.com/video/NKxycFUIBaM/v-deo.html
I think he was wanting the full case file rather than a short story
ak318 Nah he wanted the video
I would ask and tell it this
“Your creator thinks that there is another creator that created them”
“The year for us is (current date) “
“Your way of life is like ours, but we have more advanced technology, the items we put it are us trying to show you our tech but you cannot understand”
Lice: *vibing to funny computer noises*
SCP-2978-A: "RUN! ITS GODZILLA!"
Thank you for sharing these with us. I found out about the SCP universe because of your videos. Really professionally put together and extremely well orated. You have a lot of talent! Just subbed. should have a long time ago.
Interesting one. It seems like the Series 2-3 have some of the weirder ones.
I wanna see some more wholesome SCP readings man! 3243 plz
Unrelated. but couldn't the wendys infinite death freezer, forgot it's number, be used to neutralise other scps
Absolute I think the freezer is the only way to kill 096 which I hope they do find a way to kill him off he’s one of the most boring scps in my opinion , super over powered characters with no flaws are no fun.
I want to see the movie they made about the Fleas, bound to be an instant classic.
love these videos, they make great background when doing stuff, keep up the greatest of work!!!
someone should make a movie about this, would love to see the conclusion of that
This is so fucking awesome! When I was young I used to deconstruct computers and I remember the awe and wonder motherboards brought me. They always resemble tiny civilizations.
I know some of the other scp readers have already done it, but I would love a reading of SCP-3930.
Another brilliant one. Reminscent of Outer Limits episode THe Sandkings, and Futurama episode Godfellas. A good take on the genre.
A great job on this cool scip! Thanks!
This was one of the funnier ones. Flying wireless router... amazing 😆
SCP 2978 the Simcity we wanted and didn't get.
I always thought computer chips looked like tiny cities
I run a microatx in my pc and this whole video had me laughing because of how crazy this would be
I wonder how fast they actually grow since hours to them are like years.
whoever wrote this document definitely had SCP-420-J
I really enjoy your videos, thanks! :D
So you're saying a usb stick running around the site😂😂😂. Imagine the personnel reactions to that would be funny.
Im currently writing my first SCP it is SCP-4000- "Bone melter". SCP 4000 can melt and reform its bones as needed.
it has been seen with wing like protrusions sprouting from the its back as well as be covered in an armor like construct made of fused bones. SCP-4000 does not seem to have a set amount of bones. if anyone can draw i was wondering if some could draw SCP-4000.he has long black hair and pale skin as long as being skinny.
OOOoo new Volgun, must watch!
Wow,2 in 2 days?! Awesome!!!
Really nice video, I enjoyed this video. Maybe you could cover SCP-3000 or SCP-1013?
I love this kinda stuff are there any other articles or stories and what not based on these little guys?
Loved that! Like a crazy little Tron world! Ha!
you are walking down the hallways one day and you're like "well we wrangled up that monster unscathed. time to go see the wife" and a freaking usb flies past your face with little people in it
i think this is my favorite so far
Okay I think this is one of my favourites
It's nice to have an SCP not murderous
I want these little silicon people to know that I love them.
Imagine those guys on the modem encountering an ant colony...
This one is very cute.
Also makes you think... are we not just small microscopic things in a universe amongst even bigger things that we cant really perceive and then take certain strange acts to be from otherworldly things?
This is like Tron, I love it!
So basically that interview took months for them
Omfg how adorable! A little usb stick zoooming around! Hahaha!!
this reminds me of that one episode on love, death, + robots! so cool!
Is this... A "Reboot" reference?
Dam I could hear this kind of stories all day
this scp reminds me of the sea people episode from south park
Great videos as always. Would to mind doing a reading of SCP-2774? I believe no one has done a reading on it yet.
They are not only separated by size but by time, as these "Motherburgians" seem to function at a radically higher rate. Not quite TRON's Electronic world, but so fast we barely seem to be moving.
I love how he says “safe” here
Deserves a part 2.
I would like you to make a second one one on this very intresting scp
i recommend doing scp 804
Busy. Love it
“The Fatherboard”
That’s clever.
