"Towns which have been pillaged by British Soldiers"
Proceeds to show Colours showing victories in WW1 and over Nazis during the liberation of Europe, conspicuously including Dunkirk.
No it’s not now move on
Remind me of a photo of Kim Jong Un and his Officers. LMAO
You copied that comment word for word LMAO
@@MichaelJ44 are you ok?
No.
Joe Glenton served in the Royal Logistics Corps, who served within Camp Bastion for his whole term. After this he went AWOL.
Are we seriously going to listen to this man?
Why would he have a reason to lie?
Yes. And your so knowledgeable about the armed forces you will understand the RLC has a very distinguished history. How many medals have RLC soldiers won doing stuff like EOD etc.
Lots of Navy and RAF roles are even less "dangerous" than being in the RLC, but they are still allowed to have an opinion on the military.
Whats your point anyway? That if he had fought on the front line perhaps he would have more sympathy for Far right leaning soldiers?
The bigger problem is more with ex-Army members who have not adjusted to life outside the Army, they often get pulled into far-right politics there are so many ex-army in EDL and far-right groups.
Murdochs Press is distributed freely on UK bases! Putting a stop to that would be a significant start
My husband has 'unfriended' or 'blocked' many of his old comerades. He cant believe their extreme views.
This isn't good, it closes the communications that make discussion outside of 'filter bubbles' possible.
+TOITN True
@@Anthony1uk No, he just doesnt believe in rascism, bigotry and ultra extremism.
@@Anthony1uk Good deflection there. Bigots will always deflect.
@@Anthony1uk My husband thinks you're a mindless troll. I dont like trolls, bye
Could colonial Britain be classed as facist ?
Absolutely
@Nostro you failed to correctly capitalize 'Britain'.
You managed to get 'English' right though. Well done, pat yourself on the back!
no and i wish it was. it would have benefited the whole empire.
Bore off
Being far right is far far better than being far left
If I was to join the army then I would rather die for my heritage instead.
What a load of piffle!!
yes
Their only crime was loyalty 🇬🇧
Every Regiment has its own colours, true, bur battle honours do not represent "towns that have been pillaged" - they represent actions that regiment has been involved in
This guy went AWOL are we going to trust him?
The problem is that the British army has a David Brent attitude towards racism. It knows it's wrong, it knows it cannot be tolerated but doesn't fully understand the complexity of it. The Tommy Robinson photo situation was a classic example. Looked at it , went to the British Council of Muslims and asked do you have a problem with this? When the answer was yes they kicked the young lad out! They believed that this would resolve the situation, but only caused more resentment and fuelled Tommy Robinson with more material. They resolved it in the only way they understood, discipline, Punishment and pandering to PR. They should have asked the soldier why he believed that this was a good idea and then tried to educate him on these matters.
TR is not far right just a patriot
The army ought to have a recruitment drive amongst Sikhs and try to appeal to their traditional side as a warrior people. They served this country with distinction during it's imperial days and earned their place in Britain. Those that have made it their home deserve a central place in our armed forces, which will also have the knock on effect of challenging all the white soldiers to think twice about these fascists that are pitting them against different demographics.
LOL
It wasn't only sikhs, indian muslims, hindus, nepalis, afro Caribbean and arab soldiers.
yeah, every time I used to visit the job centre in Newcastle, the army had a spot set up where they speak to lads coming in.
@john-paul baylis well, it felt sort of like the army were taking advantage of the unemployment situation. Which I suppose is understandable for them. But it felt sort of predatory. Many of these younger folks probably don't get to hear about the bad side of military service. Instead being young and looking for direction and adventure, they may think the military sounds cool. I wanted to join the military when I was a kid. Many of my previous generations of family were in the army or navy but now I'm older and understand more about the training from people who did join, I'm really pleased I didn't.
I'm not saying I can't see positives from the military, such as the discipline, but I think it also does some damage that maybe can't be easily reversed.
Well made video. Im a Black Canadian considering joining the British Army so this was helpful.
i see nothing wrong with the army and we should be proud of what we have done
The short answer is no, the Army has actually changed for the better in many ways in the last 20 years, in Equal Opportunities, humanism, BAME, & LGBT issues. Most of the online gammon vets have left during this period and the Values and Standards (which anyone can look up) speak for themselves. The Argument made about Colours and Guidons is misleading, you will mostly find places like Arnheim, The Somme, etc which were hardly being pillaged.
However, there are a lot of people with right wing views, although, as the army is made up of mostly millennials, you'll find they aren't the mainstream, on social issues at least (There is a dislike of Jeremy Corbyn due to media propaganda about his meetings with Sinn Fein, again mostly from the older members, this is in no way universal, and there is also a huge mistrust of the Tories due to years of devastating cuts).
It's not perfect, but definitely heading in the right direction and within a generation, I think will lose the stereotype. I see a very different picture than what is presented in this video, and the Tommy Robinson video was just a bunch of recruits who would have had their pic taken with anyone famous in a service station, any large organisation will always have bellends letting the side down
Do army rapes syill get brushed under the carpet?
You don't sound stupid at all do you?
If you want to know what fascism is, read “what is fascism” by Benito Mussolini, or the 25-point manifesto of the National Socislist German Workers Party. It is not just a matter of racism. Racism is not a necessary component. It is not about crony capitalism or corporate or special interest influence in politics. Fascists were against that too. They wanted the exact opposite relationship between government and business, with government ultimately calling the shots where it mattered.
I won’t get into is it “right wing”. That debate is plagued by people talking past one another without considering that they are arguing semantics and have anmist diametrically opposes definitions of terms. However, fascism cannot be considered right wing on the basis that it is so very liberal, individualist, Laissez Faire, or free market. This is precisely one of the very things which the fascists were opposed to. Opposition to those very ideas are one of a few defining principles of fascism, along with, primarily elevation of the leader as embodiment of the state, state as embodiment of the National will, and opposition to representive democracy and opposition to what they considered Marxist materialism and destructive class jealousy.
nazis promoted anti capitalism only in order to attract working classes , reality is the Nazis & mussolini cosied up to industrialists /big business and never even attempted to destroy capitalism ..... thay were the original fake news merchants
Feel bad for them
Well said.
Not really. He said neoliberalism and not capitalism. He wants to trim the branches of capitalism and not get rid of the entire tree including the roots. Socialism can't be established through parliamentary means but only through revolutionary violence.
obvsl
It's quintessentially built-based-and-bound to a top-down authoritarian/totalitarian and bottom-up militant/militarist organisational intwined relation's condition's and standard's/expectation's or system's structures and schedules intricate-and-complicate by in-of-by-for-on itself
All you need to do to get into the security-force police-force/internal military-force or the military-force/external police-force is comply-and-conform they're filled-and-fuelled by blue-collar personalities-and-psychologies/mind-set's who are in essence mindless-meandering dumb-and-docile yabbering/yammering/yackering yobbo's/yahoo's with their boisterous bumbling babbling/blabbering qualified-or-over-qualified but under-educated-and-under-informed or un-educated-and-un-informed dopey-and-dogmatic in tone-and-texture
He raises some valid points and then some dog shit ones. Doesn't matter though. I have zero respect for anyone who goes to the glasshouse for being jack.
Very well presented mate. After watching peaky blinders I realise how important it is to revisit the issue of fascism. And more importantly how close; just how close this country came to a serious successful revolution. It’s quite frightening. The will of the people is amazing. People like Trump and Farage and our lovely Tommy know exactly what their doing and how to play on peoples fears and exploit them for their own narcissistic pleasure.
Refreshing to hear.
Problem is the lowest of the low, the no hopers who either live a life of crime on the streets or go into the army. Once upon a time respectable men would join the army, but now it's the Underclass who the politicians see as nothing but cannon fodder, which by the way they act are just that - expendable. This is backed up by the fact that army numbers are at an all time low, if they could recruit from the Middle/Upper classes of all backgrounds then I believe that would not be the case.
Great video. The answer is, of course; yes - if we're not careful.
Full of false information. A regiment's colours denotes the battles that have been fought, NOT "villages that have been pillaged around the world". The Army isn't full of far-right sympathisers, which he would know if he hadn't gone AWOL after three years.
@Lee Davenport The thing is it's easy for them to dehumanise people out in places like Afghanistan when they see first hand what the allies they're supporting are actually like. When you're propping up corrupt PB commanders that keep little boys locked up in their compound as their own personal sex toys then it makes sense they'd adopt a warped view of these people. The values dissonance is real and the structure of the army only facilitates it.
Lee Davenport "beat up people in Libya" such a bullshit anecdote. There wasn't any Army deployment to Libya. The only boots on the ground in Libya in 2011 was a couple of SAS special forces raids that lasted only a few hours and they obviously didn't film it and show it to some mug like you.
@Deep Thought I served 24 years and met no "far-right supporters" in that time.
@Lee Davenport Sure you did, that is why you reported it to the police and we all got to read about the court cases. Or perhaps not?
@Deep Thought I'm curious as to why you think that I should be looking for it? It was not practical to 'interrogate' everyone who I worked with about any far-right sympathies anyone had. I worked with men, women and transgendered from all religions, races, sexualities and none of them experienced any problems from the far-right within the armed forces.
I wasn't impressed by the virtue signalling copy and paste then and now. It's far too contrived.
Youre talking total crap mate
Im ex British army and I definitely prefer fascism over democracy anyday 👍🇬🇧
