Dwight is a 8x all star, 8x all nba, 4x top 5 in MVP voting, 3 times a DPOY, not to mention being the best player on a team that made the finals (Orlando). How does this resume not crack the top 75?
@@jerryzheng7114 yeah AD only had like 2 playoff apperances in his 7 year career before Lebron recruited him and no real accolade, Dwight was 3-time DPOY, 5-time Allstar, 4 All-NBA First team, 3 All-NBA Defensive First team, 3 rebounding leader, 2 block leader and most importantly made it to the Finals facing botht the Celtics, Lakers and MVP Lebron in the same playoffs in that same 7 years, what did AD do?
Sorry but it's a hard list considering there's a lot of great player. The top 75 is based on their achievements and influence in the game. Let's be honest about that. I mean, can you imagine if you pick 2008-09 Dwight Howard and drop him on the court like a time machine, and let him play in 1960s with Kareem, Walton, Bill Rus & Wilt? Have you even seen how those player played in the 60s? Have you even compared Dwight Howard's physique over those players? You know what's the answer.
Preach. They are projecting them to be better but as of today Howard was better. I don’t think people appreciate how he has became a great role player. Not a lot of superstars can do that
What makes it so bad is that not only was he one of if not the best defender in the NBA during that run he was also putting up like 12 boards and 20+ppg so its not like he was a specialist he was genuinely one of the best all around players in the league.
Not true because Dennis Rodman made the list and he was a defensive player. Rodman only averaged over 9ppg ONCE in his career and wasn't really a rim protector. However, he was the best rebounding big in the modern era and his versatility on defense makes him legendary. There's still no way Dwight Howard doesn't make this list. It's all personal and recency bias to exclude him. Listen to SAS try to come up with a reason to include Klay over Dwight despite Klay never ever being the best player on his own team or having the individual accolades. People rightfully praise Klay's defense, but ignore that there wasn't a better defensive player in the league than Dwight for consecutive years?! Klay has ONE defensive team nod to his resume in 8 years (not counting last two seasons).
The reason why defense is not as respected is because offense is much more difficult of a skill. In basketball offense takes greater coordination. Every person who plays a lot of basketball is constantly working on their coordination. Defense takes desire and quickness but offense is what all players really respect.
What kind of question is this? - Champion - 8x All-Star - 8x All-NBA - 3x DPOY - 5x All-Defense - 5 Rebounds Titles - 2 Blocks Titles - Averaged 14.9 pts, 12.5 rebs, and 1.5 blks on 59.6% FG during the "bad years" of 2014-15 to 2017-18 - Career Playoff Averages of 23.8 pts, 11.8 rebs, and 2.1 blks in the Eastern Conference Finals Dwight Howard is Top 75. He's greater than Davis
Lol imagine those numbers being bad years gg. If Dwight would have stayed consistent with his playing after he left Orlando he would have easily been top 20 lol. The man overall career and accomplishments are better than Davis if we are talking about now. Idk how Davis is ahead of him lmao.
SAS is a clown. Dwight Howard in Orlando was an absolute monster, and was easily the best big man in the game and received serious consideration as being the best player in the game.
And the moment he left Orlando his career fell off a cliff. He was on 7 different teams in 7 years. His career is actually disappointing compared to the super star he was in Orlando. The fact that he was so special and his biggest accomplishments are 3 DPOY and 8 all star teams is actually disappointing. He was that gifted. He had the potential to be one of the best big men to ever play and even Shaq was intimidated by him taking his throne. He never developed a polished post up game. Never developed a go to post scoring move. As his athletic abilities started to decline that was it. He was so special of a talent his career is disappointing 100%. Anybody that has a bigger problem with Dwight not making this list over klay has problems.
@@NextLevelAutoDetail actually, it didn't. He was an all-star his only year with the Lakers and an all-star with Houston while making All NBA those first two years he left Orlando. Injuries curtailed his career. And regardless of what transpired, his resume, especially at his peak was better than many of the careers of those on the list. That includes AD, Dame, Rodman, Westbrick, Bill Walton, etc. 8x All NBA, and 5x All Defense, leading your team to the Finals as the only star, are not just hall of fame accolades, those are all time great achievements.
Best player in the game? Hold on man and put down the pipe. As great as he is, he wouldn't make top 20 centers of all time. Top 75 players however there's a case for Howard.
@@PQV-8898 At his peak, he was definitely the best center playing, and he was being discussed as the Best player in the game when he was playing, not all time. That was a legit argument.
Even when Dwight was a role player in Charlotte he had a ridiculous 30-30 game. He’s earned his spot as an all timer
Dwight is definitely top 75 or at least close to it when looking at his resume, he’s got a bunch of accolades
Thanks for making me laugh.
@@harveyscottz You're acting like we're putting him at the top of the list. No, he's towards the bottom but still top 75.
So do we supposed to forget about the years in Houston, Atlanta, DC etc.? Because those years are on his resume right?
As much as I love Dame and AD
They aren't even out of their primes yet
Dwight definitely deserves a spot over them
I agree. Dame and AD need more.
Agreed
I'll put ad over him, but not dame yet
Preach. They are projecting them to be better but as of today Howard was better. I don’t think people appreciate how he has became a great role player. Not a lot of superstars can do that
Based on this logic Shaq shouldn't have been in the top 50 when they put him on
Leaving Dwight out off this list kind of shows the NBA doesn’t appreciate flat out defence.
- never like Dwight in ORL but yeah, he's a top 75 player. I'd take him over Klay Thomspon for Top 75.
Stephen a is right though most people who even are commenting on this never seen

What kind of question is this?

Dwight over AD all day
SAS is a clown.

I dont think so lol yall look too much at the numbers and the accolades when impact also matters Dwight was fun loving but he didnt stand out he was a star never a Superstar he wasnt even the biggest FL Athelete at that time
Walton and Dwight are kinda similar in my mind both having had relatively short peaks. But Bill Walton accomplished more at his peak. Honestly I don't know about AD vs Dwight though. AD is way better offensively than prime Dwight, he has a championship he won in his prime which counts for a lot but when he was THE GUY in New Orleans he didn't have the team success Dwight had I'll grant. Nobody thought the Orlando Magic were gonna make the finals in '09, everyone thought LeBron vs Kobe was a foregone conclusion but he beat him and it was Dwight vs. Kobe.
@@P1P31150 Dame has carried his team to the second rd at least and has dealt with rebuilds on the fly. Like LaMarcus Aldridge leaving and others leaving. So Dame has a way better case than Anthony Davis. Walton is a lock 🔐 through it down big man lol.

Sorry SAS but Klay should probably be top 75 but dwight is a better player than klay. Klay is one of the best 3 pt shooters of all time and is a very good defender. But he cant carry a franchise like dwight did multiple times
Also, as a miami native and heat ultimate heat fan (tim Hardaway senior used to mow my great granddad's yard in chicago), I'm embarrassed that DZ a fellow heat fan made the original post
Yea but Tracy McGrady is arguably a top 2 scorer ever
Lmao! Perk funny af at the end talking about how players used to dribble back in the days
But they had to, anytime your hand deviated from the absolute top of the ball, it was a carry. Oscar was revolutionary with his use of the in and out dribble during this time. Later Earl Monroe, Pistol Pete and the ABA laxed these rules cause the NBA seen how the fans reacted to that 'hot dog' style of play (hint, it led to more money). Perk should've called out AD, Carmelo, Kyrie or Dame to replace with Dwight tho. Or called out his injury history and argued for Grant Hill, T Mac or Bernard King...
I can’t believe anyone has the pov that Dwight doesn’t belong but since it’s Stephen A it makes sense
Honestly, I think it would make complete sense to have left off guys like AD or Dame who are still in their prime and added Dwight instead. They could have definitely made the 100 Anniversary team. The team that I expect Kyrie and Klay to make
@@josephhect5339 seeing as kyries career is potentially over does he even make 100? Ja and lamelo look like they’re about to have a nice next 10-15 years and who knows who else emerges. Dame being on the current list is insane though

90%? Stop it.
Dwight never developed his offense and that is why he struggled once his athleticism left him. Dunking off a lob is not offense. offense is a consistent hook, turnaround and a scoop. He is one player who should have gone to college to learn how to play.
There’s no reason for dame to be on the list when there are clearly better options
Facts from a Blazers fan
Prime Tracy McGrady ( 13 points in 33 seconds) would absolutely cook most players on that list, and yes Dwight Howard should have made the list...
Too bad he didn't cook enough to make it past the first round 😭
@@atlien1988 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣thats the tough reality
Dwight Howard was the reason why every team needed a big man. He would tower over people. He was so tall, but skinny at the same time and athletic. He got beaten up because people didn't want to give him easy baskets. The toughest player to guard in the NBA for a 3-4 year period.
Howard never developed an offensive game and that is why he struggles today. Dunking off a lob is not an offensive game. He had no consistent low post presence. He never developed a hook, turnaround jumper and a scoop. That is why he is not in the top 75.
@@Gnofg amen. Sort of an earlier D'andre Jordan.
@@Gnofg Your comment is wrong. Yes, Dwight might not have a very refined offensive game like a lot of those players chosen in the 75th anniversary team. But, there are a couple of players, with very limited scoring abilities on that team. There's jason kidd, who never had much of an scoring game. There's Russell westbrook, who has always depended a lot on his insane athleticism to score. Then there wes unseld, who most of the seasons he played scored less than 10 ppg. Let's not even talk about Dennis rodman, who averaged 7 ppg for his career. Now, there's a legitimate argument that howard is more deserving than AD, Dominique wilkins, Wes Unseld, Dennis Rodman, and some other players. At his peak, Howard was a legitimate franchise player, who could take his team to the finals as the best player on his team and in the discussion as most valuable player of the league. Probably 1/4 of that 75th anniversary team can not do that.
@@Amick44 d andre jordan was never in the discussion as the leagues best player. D andre jordan never got to the finals even with a stacked team. The biggest problem was the fact that they had to leave the original 50 on it which left other better players off because there isn't any room
@@UndercoverSpill it's also hard to justify old players because there was actually a rule that forced players to dribble all stiff like they had been, not because they couldn't dribble more loosely.

Klay doesnt deserve it.
How does Klay get snubbed? His career averages aren’t that crazy good. 2 of the 3 rings he won were with an obvious championship team. He was 3rd fiddled to a team with KD and Curry both MVP players in their prime. Easily both top 5 in the league.

When he was on other teams that weren't built around him, he didn't know how to work in their system. If Dwight had High BBall IQ back when he was on the Steve Nash-Ron Artest-Kobe Lakers.... on paper they should've won. If Steve Nash has a problem with you.. you're the problem. The Magic team catered to Dwight, Dwight can't cater to systems that aren't built around him.

Exactly
3rd because dray is more important
We're not talking about who leads a team. That has nothing to do with skill set or where your place on the list should be. There was alot of great players on REALLY bad teams. If y'all old enough to know. If not look up Mitch Richmond, Dominique Wilkins, Drazen Pertrovic. Sometimes it's only so much a person can do alone. Barkley only went to finals when he had a TEAM that was solid. Hakeem went when his TEAM was solid. Ewing went when his TEAM was solid. Leading a team by yourself is great but that shouldn't be the STANDARD of greatness.
@@elijaharvinger8711 Leading a team success is a huge factor. Cause there's a whole different level of pressure when you're the main guy coaches game plan against rather than the second or 3rd guy. The point is Klay has yet to prove he could be the top guy of a playoff level team or have the level of success of a Dominique Wilkins, Barkley, Ewing, or Dwight. Plus your argument doesn't even work cause Dwight has more individual accolades by far than Klay along with being a more impactful player longer.

Klay is a great career three point shooter, but so are other players who didn't make the list. In overall advanced statistics, he's not even in the top 250! Look at career Win Shares and career WS/48, for example.
Yes, he's 20th all-time in made threes, but, heck, look at a guy like Kyle Lowry, who people forget is 18th all-time in made threes *and* has had much better WS/48 compared to Klay. Klay will likely pass Lowry on all-time made threes and in total points if he returns to his past form, but it's not like Klay has shown some sort of dominance in combined metrics compared to other players. He's just been a very good scorer in today's game, but even on that measure he's not in the top 75 for points per game for his career.
