Worked well on a beam and broad reach. Was pulled down close to the water when going up wind, so may need some other type of kite that works in a wider wind range.
The camera is attached to the kite line using clips. You can find them online used for fishing etc. See this short video ua-cam.com/users/shorts284wbTU42LA?feature=share
It's an Insta 360 camera that records in all directions. So when you edit the video you can select what part you want to be showing at any time. So all the camera movement is done in editing.
The kite keeps flying just fine. I did find that when going up wind, the extra apparent wind speed would pull the kite low to the water. Going across the wind was fine. Going down wind the kite risks stalling as not enough apparent wind. So depending on what kite you have, the board speed and direction will probably affect how it flies.
@@vardenispavardenis2318 Surprising how little pull there is. I used a small kite, about 0.5 m2 and it's at an angle to the wind, so you only feel a small pull.
Big Brain! so awesome
Very cool way using old school kite.

Insta 360 kite cam
Very good idea! It's possible to see how the cam is monted on the kite? And more details about this great project? Thank you!

Hahaha. This is awesome!
it appears that the camera is panning and following the sailor as he passes by. how did you do that?

what happens when you turn back, at the turning point?

what will be when windsurfer will fall into the water?
The kite keeps flying, as long as there is enough wind! So the camera stays up no problem.
@@goldney another question is ,r the kite does not brake speed?
