Thank you so much for this video. Had my car to two shops who couldn't solve the problem. After watching your video I was able to fix the Sniper system in my garage in 15 minutes. It was a loose plugs. Thanks!
We fixed the Sniper , Thanks to you , it was a loose plug fixed the problem. Holley wanted me to send it back to them with a 12WEEK turn around. Thank you and God Bless
So glad I could help. Thanks for the comment.
Boy you saved my butt again, first the Fuel Reg, then i had an injector that probably wasnt hooked up right since i first started the engine with Sniper. Runs like a totally different Car. Feels like a Pontiac 455 again! Thank you so much!
Glad I could my friend.
Thanks for the video. Same system I have on a project for a customer and it was doing the exact same thing in the exact same ol. I'd already noticed it wasn't sporting fuel but I wasn't sure how to go about fixing it cuz I've never or one of these apart. But you are right Holly uses some very cheap connectors on those they do not make a good connection at all
Great video im goin to this method .. mines is doin the exact same thing very informative..and you have a new subscriber
0:15 I'm a simple man. I see Landcruiser, I subscribe.
Appreciate the info about the Sniper EFI issues. Trouble shooting my retrofitted FJ60, and discovering some of the low build quality within this unit has been an adventure in patience.
Yeah, it's a learning curve. And I think they could have priced the unit higher and made the quality better.
Youre not kidding. I have all the EFI Haters in my head telin me i made a mistake everytime i run into one of these "Factory" defects , -___-
I appreciate the information. I am installing a Sniper in my 71 Corvette. This video will help me troubleshoot it if I have the same issue. Thanks
You are welcome my friend. Good Luck on the project!
Well, SOB, I was watching Alaskan Videos on UA-cam and somehow this video popped up. My Mustang has been down for about 2 months. I did everything I could do except call holley. But after watching this video I decided to give it a shot. Wel SAS it was the problem. I can't say thank you enough. KJ
This one sure mad me smile after a long day. Glad I could help you my friend.
@@troykane Just in case any of your followers need the number for the Holley aftermarket replacement 02 sensor its from a 2013 Ford focus ...part number, "Bosch 17321" The sensor cable is a bit shorter than the one that came from Holly but there was plenty of lead coming from the sniper to extend to the new O2 cable.
Also the injector has a number stamped on it...250R169A

Troy, Im 66 yr old lady who's late hubby gave me his 56 Chevy Belaire. It had a FiTech pos system on it and it was nothing but trouble. I had a Sniper Stealth installed and it was ok. Never beastly in my 350 small block with street cam, but it would start up and go. I dont have even 100 miles on the Sniper and it started bucking, missing and backfiring. My mechanic doesnt know enough about it to fix it so I came on your site. He was just here to address a leak in the tranny sensor and the car started fine. Now it wont even start . I want to pull my face off. I want to pull those covers off of the injectors myself and do the prong sleeve tightening trick. I believe it must be the problem. I cant see the injectors being bad in a brand new system but still, a possibility. These guys are charging me a fortune for "experimenting" instead of fixing. Why dont they tell you up front that they cant find their arses with both hands when it comes to fuel injection??? Im tempted to put an Edelbrock carb system on it and be done with it,🙄
Carbs are not a bad thing. The fuel injection is a sharp learning curve for most of the old school wrenches. If you go to Holley.com they could refer you to an authorized Holley service center. Hope that helps. Good luck with the project
Troy - thank for the video. I have a dry butterfly and plan to take the steps in you video to correct. Curious, is there fuel pressure in the system and should I prepare for a mess when disconnect the fuel line at the fuel rail? I noticed your fuel line remained connected at the unit. Maybe you disconnected at another location? Thanks again!
Good question. I waiting for fuel pressure to go to zero. I also removed the line, just maybe not visible in the veidoe clip. Thanks for the comment and good luck.
A question though...How do you set the Sniper settings back to default factory from the handset? Im tempted to try to do this and set it up per specs for my engine. I might just get good enough at this with a little tutoring that I can keep some of my money!😂
I believe you can just go back to the set up wizard and go threw the set up and then upload that fresh info and you're good to go.
exactly like what mines doing
I had the same problem but real problem is the pins bend out of alignment on the crappy connectors and you then force the plug on. Get the female pins perfectly center first. Watch the video again and you will see the bent pins. Good luck
Interesting, mine was not even plugged in.
Hi, I'm new at this but wanted to know if it is necessary to run a Air Cleaner with these type of systems??? Thank you!!!
Always run an Aircleaner. Regardless of the system you should run an aircleaner. Thank for the comment and good luck
I have both rear injectors doing the same thing. Would it be common for both injectors to be doing the same thing.
It is possible, but common I don't know.
love all your info . maybe you can tell me my problem ? My sniper up and decided all on its own to start the #1 fan when i turn the key to ignition. also it will not start correctly and cuts out several times when i go to start it ! then it takes 10 minutes to warm it up ... i tried setting the Iac also and that is all over the place . thanks for your video's
what style supercharger is that ?
I think you may have a bad Temp Sensor. That would explain most of the simptoms. You'll have to fix that and then reset the IAC. The supercharger is a Procharger. Good Luck
@@troykane would you have a link to the temperture sensor , or a part # .... its the one that screws into the thermostat houseing ?
@@jgvford here is your link amzn.to/46FMMyg
It should be in the Intake manifold or Cylinder head to be the most acurate.
got it thanks .... do you have a part # for the procharger@@troykane
@@jgvford No I would go to Prochargers website and see what they recomend for you
Good afternoon sir I have a 77 vette with the sniper EFI Quadrajet now my tuner it overheats up ta two hundred yes it I have an overheating issue any ideas Wit a 383 stroker. New Heads new radio everything but I haven't hooked up my tag gauge should I solve the problem as well halfway
I don't think the overheating is due to the fuel injection.
Hi, hopefully you can help me out with my situation. I watched all your videos about the sniper to prepare for mine. I installed a sniper2 on my vehicle and she started right up beautiful. Waited to get the temp around 170 before I made any adjustment on my IAC. I have her dialed in at 800rpm and IAC as at 6-8. The problem starts when as soon as I put her in gear (automatic) and the afr and IAC is going ballistic. Not sure it’s because it’s still in the learning process or what. It was trying to stall out but it’s making adjustments. I did it three diff times and it still doing the same thing. Any input would really appreciate it.
Get the IAC between 8-12. And then give it some time. It takes several times to get the IAC stable. Also when the IAC is a little higher it has the ablility to lower the throttle. Good luck
What should actual fuel pressure be set at in handheld ? Mine says 90 seems little high ?
58-62 PSI Yes 90 is high
I have a sniper efi 2 and when I open the ignition key the injectors send a lot of fuel
I have the super sniper set up on my sbc wit a 671 blower.everything is reading good on touchscreen but none of my injectors are firing....any help ?
Sounds like a computer issue. I would talk to Holley Tech.
I have the super sniper set up on my sbc wit a 671.everything is reading correct on the touchscreen but no spray coming out any of the injectors
Fuel Pressure Reading at the throttle body?
Do you feel like the spacer is absolutely necessary? I am running without one on a new 496 build.
I don't think so. I would treat it just like a carb as far as the spacer goes.
Hi Troy. I have the Holley sniper EFI system. It was running just fine then one day it wouldn't start. It would just crank over I checked spark and fuel and both were there. When I press the throttle during cranking it will start. I pulled and changed the plugs cuz they were all flooded. I can't figure this out
Check fuel pressure. Look down the throttle body when it's running, make sure all four injectors are firing. Good Luck
I had exactly the same - it was driving me nuts - did all the checks, fuel pressure, plugs (fouled) changed, and it was the injector connection all this time - fixed with a zip tie ;-)
My Sniper EFI is losing fuel pressure when giving it throttle. It’s dropping from 58 to 20 psi and sometimes bottoming all the way out. I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator and installed a new pump Holley told me to buy. Have you ever had this problem. It has always had a stumble. The afr will run normal and then run red up to sometimes in the 30 range and shut the truck off. I’m just looking for some guidance. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.
I have never encountered this problem. The AFR going red I think is due to a lean condition due to the low fuel pressure. I would put a mechanical gauge a the inlet to the throttle body and watch it as you throttle up. If the fuel pressure drops I would run my return flow into a can and see what is happening there. This should help determine if you are not getting enough fuel coming in or are you simpling return fuel back to the tank and not building correct pressure. Hope this helps. Good Luck
Did that give you an high AFR rating mine is a 35.6 and it floats in and out and I checked and one of my injectors is not firing Did you have issues with the AFR light and hopefully this will fix that
Fix that injector. You are running lean
Well I did pull bowl and zip tied both injectors what a pain in the butt put in the screws back in until after I lubed the o-rings...ughhh. but unfortunately that did not clear my code MyO2 sensor was all gummed up so I did replace it now life is good but I'm sure that injector was making my car run like crap and I didn't even notice , a V8 to a six cylinder... yay
Yes a non firing injector will cause a lean condition. This causes the AFR light to be triggered
Would fixing this help out with fuel mileage?
I do not believe so.
I bought q truck with the spider carburator and non of the injectors are firing, I checked the wiring to the injectors and they look good what else could it be?
I have no idea
I have the Sniper 4150 installed. The car runs great, however after driving it and when I stop and put it in park. The idle drops very low and almost stalls out then picks back up and runs smooth. Other than that the systems seems to be working great. Any ideas as to why I am having this problem?
That sounds like your Idle Air Control. Watch my video on how to set the IAC
I have it set the way you explain. It is running between 3 and 10.
Read it when you are having the low idle condition.
Seem like they have a lot of problem with them are they worth it
It's a steep learning curve for those of us old school carbs guys. But once you've learned the system it is really so much better. Especially when used with power adders like turbos and superchargers.
My sniper is racing up and down what could be the problem
Reset the idle air control would be my first thought.
Fuel pressure gauge where could I put it
Put it at the fuel inlet. There is an adapter that you put between the inlet and the feed line. The gauge screws into the line.
@@troykane Thank you Troy, would you have a part number
