    This is a really helpful video, my sniper has been running for about 18 months with no issue but now it appears I've got a low fuel pressure issue, as the AFR leans out to 20+ and the CL comp jumps all the way up from 1% to 50%. Fuel filters are clean and lines are not restricted so this is my next place to look.

    So glad I came across this video!! New Sniper installed and tuned by Henson Racing (so I know its right). New aeromotive fuel system with intank pump, inline 10micron filter. Last 3 out of 5 drives she acts like she's running out of gas and dies. Now she never does this (or at least hasn't yet) on the highway, only on city streets. 1st time big backfire (sounded like thru the carb) then sputtered and died. let her sit 2-3 mins fired right up. Next time, just sputtered along and died. Tried to start her up right away and no go. let her sit a min or two and fires right up and drives fine. same on the third time she's done this. I'm gonna run a data log on my next outing and see what I find. At least I know some thing s to start with. Thanks again for the video!

    1) Truck is badass and sounds good. 2) I believe this is my issue. I also have a black powder coated unit and ever since first startup it didn't want to take fuel well and have to rev slowly. Erratic fuel pressure at time. I have opted for the holley filter/regulator setup (corvette filter style with 58 bypass) just with 6AN fittings. I really hope this does the trick. Also, can't remember if I checked back of unit for vac caps on booster port, ran to intake.

    I have had consistent high pressure (~69 psi) on my Sniper 2300 since I installed it. I pulled the regulator diaphragm and cleaned the screen, etc. Plus, it makes this godawful whine/squeal when priming and sometimes when running, which Holley says is “regrettable, but normal”.
    Came here wondering if it would work to pull the diaphragm and go with an external regulator, so THANK YOU for posting this!!!

Measured AFR is reading a full point higher than what’s in the table, and Holley thinks it’s overfueling due to excessive pressure. We’ll see! Do you see a problem with not running a return line with the sniper 2 with a returnless edelbrock sump pump? I will be putting turbo on and figured the boost reference internal regulator on edelbrock sump pump would take care of everything. ..?

    • @troykane
      @troykane  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes I do. My own experience with a boosted vehicle, is you need a return line. The reason is the pump with the built in bypass cannot react quickly enough to the fuel demands of a boosted engine. So use the same pump (I did) and install a boost reference regualator to the return side and run a return fuel line. You'll be amazed at the difference in performance. Good Luck

    On the regulator, with that AN adaptor (Edelbrock Russell 670343 Fuel Pressure Take Off), that line goes back to the fuel take - so you essentially converted it from a RETURNLESS to a RETURN system?

    I have a question. I have a turbocharge 98 Honda accord, engine is fresh rebuilt, same as turbo kit. After 300 miles my cheap Amazon fuel pressure sensor gave up on me. Is it still safe to drive on small road for errands as long as I stay under boost? The new sensor won’t be here until the weekend. Fuel pressure was set at 50psi but I’m only getting 27.5+- psi. The cel will pop up if I go above 3500rpm. Car starts up normal, idles normal, and drives normal under boost.

    Great video... My problem is it wont hold the pressure once primed! So I hit the key, it primes up to 60 psi then goes to 20 so then when I crank it, it won't start! just crank crank cranks. If I go to the return side at the firewall mounted regulator and kink the hose it will build 100 psi and start.... then I unkink the hose! at this point runs and perfect fuel pressure.... Tried another regulator and same issue!

      Ok, this is my set up. From the in tank holley pump. To the inline fuel filter. From the inline filter to the drivers side rear of the sniper, with a pressure gauge installed at the inlet. I removed the Holley regulator from the throttle body on the passengers side. Connected my return line from the sniper return to the boost regulator. Then from the boost regulator back to the tank return line. The vacuum line on the regulator goes to manifold vacuum. Then adjust your fuel pressure at the remote regulator. This works for me me. It should work for you. Good Luck.

    I just tried putting the Sniper on my 66' GTO after having the engine rebuilt. I used an internal fuel pump with the new fuel tank. I have great pressure at the tank but only getting about 5 PSI at the Sniper. I am miffed at this point. Blew out the fuel lines and did every thing I could think of. I finally put the old carb on there so I could go to Cruise the Coast in Biloxi. I've talked to Holley experts about 3 times and they blame the fuel pump, the fuel pump experts tell me the line is blocked. I will worry about after the I have my fun at CTC.

I ordered a 100 psi fuel pump. My car dies out on light acceleration. If I stop to fast it’ll kinda choke out and die. So I’m hoping this is case just not enough pressure. By moving the adjustable regulator to the return side will that set the psi to 58 returning to the tank and 58 psi to the inlet also? I have 2 tanks and the valve to switch tanks is like the one on my f250. Some times the return dose not switch and it will over fill the back tank. I hope by lowering the return side it will make the switch work right. I had problems with the sniper at first it would backfire. I was getting false spark from wires crossed. It was solved by bending the gray wire in a uturn and twisting it and the false spark quit . There was no video at the time to go by .
