  • Here's an easy 30 minute fix for the common problem on a Holley Sniper EFI throttle body fuel injection unit. The injector clips wiggle loose and your unit will run very lean. Working on a 1962 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88. #holley #holleyefi #sniper #oldsmobile #injection

Just posting this in case someone finds this useful. I bought my 70 Pontiac that had the Sniper EFI on it. Got her home, got it started and immediately found only 2 barrels getting fuel. I wasn't the original owner, had zero documentation on the unit, and (of course) Holley wanted me to send in the entire unit for diagnosis. I knew that was going to cost me huge so I found someone in a forum talking about the clips and fixed his using this method. I did not zip tie all of mine in but found the one that needed it. This worked and 2 years later it is still holding and no issues. Cheap fix but as stated in the video....Holley needs to address! Great Video, sir!

Thanks for the comment! I love my 62. Prior to the sniper, I had on Offy intake with dual quads (Holleys) and it was just too much screwing around, all of the time. It was also just too much cfm for that olds big block. The Holley Sniper really is a great system, and makes the car fun to drive! Stay tuned for more content on the 62.

We have been fighting multiple issues with a Sniper I just installed on a 67 Camaro. Customer took the car home and it's just not what it should be. Changed the plugs last night and it sounded better but not right. Pulled air cleaner and one injector isn't spraying anything. Frustrating

Did you check the clips? I've also heard of some holley injectors being bad right out of the box.

@Wrap Shop Garage he's calling Holley tomorrow. We don't want to void the warranty, although it's probably the connector and can be fixed quickly. I want them to exchange this unit because it hasn't been right from day one and the install is solid. Just a multiple of issues one after the other

I haven’t had that problem yet. Just RFI interference causing wackiness. Had to ground everything and fab a makeshift screen faraday cage for the distributor. And ferrite cores on all wires

Has Holley not addressed this issue yet? What caused you to have to fix it?

I haven't checked lately to see if Holley has corrected this yet. The reason I had to do it because my 62 was running great one day, and super lean the next day. Ended up tracing it to an injector not firing because of the clip that fell off.

@wrapshopgarage No official fix from Holley but I saw some are cutting off the rubber connectors and adding legit fuel injector connectors

I did the same thing, great system but a terrible design. Holley thinks it's ok.

My sniper has chronic Chinese style rinky dink injector wiring BS. Zip ties help, but they will come loose again. Trust me. I love my sniper- WHEN IT WORKS. I really feel holley must do something bc the unit, with this problem, is unreliable for long road trips. And that Fn sucks.

I too have a Love-hate relationship with the sniper. I do hope that Holley comes out with a permanent fix for this, but for now, the zip ties have not failed👍
