  • I've been chasing low and surging fuel pressure with my Holley Sniper EFI...This is probably due to fuel aeration. or cavitation, since I only have about 1/8 of a tank of gas, but its still a problem..

Watching your video is so intense waiting to see the problem fixed so you can take us on a joy ride. Maybe a trip to Mexico lol! I'm in the final stages on my build . Just wiring up my msd ignition and alternator. 2yrs on the build as of now. Hopefully this weekend I'll have it running. Thanks for sharing your videos. I'm learning and seeing what I may face.

How do ya think it feels in my end?!? I want these issues done, but it's all part of the hobby. Good luck with your project and thanks for watching!

I’ve installed 2 dozen of these systems and the most common issue after a short amount of time is the FIRST fuel filter you install(if installing kit components) - the internal filter cartridge breaks loose and will block flow. I’ve told them this several times since 2019 and they still supply the same trash filters.

The second issue is fixing other people’s installs and finding the system being mounted above or in a way that requires the pump to suck the fuel out of the tank. THESE ARE NOT APPROVED PUMPS FOR THAT AND MUST BE FED EITHER BY GRAVITY OR INSTALL A LOW PRESSURE INLINE PUMP TO FEED THE HOLLEY PUMP. Stop mounting your shit wrong people

I didn't use any filters from Holley. Ultimately it came to the design of the fuel system overall, and trying to use the factory pickup/return designed for carburetors. Every since I did this: ua-cam.com/video/Nsqjp8FHV_8/v-deo.html I have had ZERO fuel feed/pressure issues

What fuel pump are you running? Is a strong enough lift pump. I had this kind of issue on a 280z that I swapped an rb20 in. I ended up having to run a carters lift pump to a surge tank that fed my high-pressure pump. My high-pressure pump just wasn't strong enough to suck fuel from the sending unit on top of the tank.

I'm running a Walbro 255. It doesn't seem to have any issues pulling the fuel through the pickup

@@MoonBuiltGarage same pump I was running. I went through 2 pumps before I figured it out. Didn't have any issues after I put the carters lift pump in.

Is the pump you are using designed to lift the fuel up the pickup tube? Or is it designed to draw from near the bottom on the external side of the tank where it is not having to lift the fuel ?

I'm battling the exact same issue with my Sniper install, and have done about all the same things you have done with no success. Definitely frustrating.

I think I have the fuel issues all worked out...check out ua-cam.com/video/Nsqjp8FHV_8/v-deo.html I'll hopefully be getting a test drive in this week, then finishing the tuning with Dirty Side Gets Down...make sure to check out his channel, too!

I actually found my issue. Like you, I knew it was fuel related. What I forgot about though, is I had elected to keep the itty bitty factory screen in the fuel pickup line from the fuel tank to the fuel pump, well, yep. That was plugged solid with a very very fine powdery like material. I checked and rechecked both my post-pump filter and pre-pump filter and those were both spotless. That stupid little screen caused me so much headache. Now I can't get away from RFI with the Hyperspark ignition system! Put the system in, and it runs for a little while and will just stall randomly with a flash of "No Data!" on all the parameters on the handheld. So for now I'm running a GM style HEI distributor on my SBF powered '88 Conquest with the base Super Sniper.@@MoonBuiltGarage

Bill, why are you wasting time with the fuel return configurations? To eliminate it as a variable, route the fuel return to an external gas can or a 5-gallon bucket as a test.
I am no expert, but I think the problem lies with your pump. Thing sounds like a dying weasel.

I'm thinking the pump is fine since I recently replaced it. Running the return won't get me much since it tends to not have issues until the engine had been under some load, and I aint about to drive around with a bucket catching the returned fuel lol...but the thought did occur to me for testing. Besides...I want ya'll to see me struggle!
