Dominus: "Bad news, all your buddies are dead. Good news, you now have all the processing power to yourself. Swings and roundabouts. Praise the Omnissiah and pass the wifi password."
Good game, exited for the next games. Although the admech (other than the dominus) should not have gad access to canticles of the omnissiah - only doctrinas - as they are skitarii and not in mars (they are lucius forgeworld).
Oh wow, I'm so used to playing Mars, I didn't catch that one! 😮I had to re-read the codex just to be sure, and yup, no canticles for skitarii unless you're Mars😵
Nice battle report guys, but a ton of mistakes on the T'au side... He didn't pick his Pholiosophies of War? Mont'ka or Kauyon. Mont'ka would have helped the breachers quite a bit as they could have advanced and hit on 4's. Gun Drones have 4 attacks each. They're equipped with 2 x Pulse Carbines each having 2 attacks each. Shield drones don't give the entire unit 4+ invul, only themselves, so that gun drone shouldn't have had a 4+ invul. Battlesuit units can fire even if they're in combat.... So he could fired into the Alpha on his turn.
All this time later and the first stage of the Start Collecting Deathmatch is complete! Well done, marvellous stuff! How fortuitous it's at the crossing point between editions as well. Farewell trusty 9th edition, hello shiny new 10th edition!
Tau can actually shoot into combat. You can also declare attacks against units _outside_ of combat, but you have to kill the thing you're in combat with in the same shooting round.
It was actually infuriating to watch that one soldier survive everything due to he's 2+ save. That's literally terminator armour level whilst he's just wearing basic gear.
The guy playing from the US brings back memories of a commanding officer issuing mission orders from various 2000's video games. Very cool to hear that voice issuing orders to tau battlesuits.
Good Job on finally finishing the Start Collection series just in time. Shame they are removing the Start Collecting boxes. Time to make a whole series of 10th edition combat patrol boxes!!!!
I've been waiting for this battle report since episode 1! Glad to finally get here. Just one mistake on the AdMech side - in Lucius these units don't get canticles. Also, the Dominus has a BS2+ and is not affected by doctrinas, only canticles.
Awesome battlereport as always but I think you made some mistakes with admech The Canticles only apply to the Dominus. The Imperatives only apply to the skitarii. The Skitarii (and the Dunecrawler) can only benefit from the Canticles when you play Mars.
Not being a wargamer myself it was fun seeing a battle between two shooting armies in stead of melee/shooting combos. I like this series - relatively easy to understand and very fun 😊
The Skitarii Alpha was quite impressive it would make a fine specimen for my Haemonculus, I absolutely loved it and the start collecting series as a whole has been really awesome!👍
wait... concede? did jeremy forget about the battlesuit rule? could've easily put the burst cannons and flamer on the lone alpha, plasma, fusion and missile on the HQ and killed both models. It was way too early for tau to concede.
@@AleksMardel Most people want to talk about the actual video rather then just the impression we get title and thumbnail. The content is kinnda important
Yeah. Kinda gotta take the play as it came with this one. The rules butchering was pretty high. Just is what it is. But you would be right. If they can shoot like 9th Ed vehicles then this definitely shouldn't have been over. In all fairness he shouldn't have been in quite such a frustrating position to begin with because Mikey was using both canticle and doctinas on all his units when each unit should only have been getting one or the other. Overall though it was going to be uphill the second he blinked first turn by running his entire force into admech range.
Yeah some serious misplay on his part, deep striking a unit in a game this small, especially with your most powerful unit, just leaves your army incredibly vulnerable to getting alpha striked. Really makes me question if the guy has ever played tau before, I had a 2k army only for about a year or so but I feel like anyone who plays them as one of their main factions would not have forgotten the battlesuit rule, especially since he could have declared his weak attacks into the skittle and the strong ones into the tech priest (since 9th allows you to declare attacks against ineligible units as long as they become eligible when you come to resolve the attacks) he could have potentially removed both in the same turn, then it would have been a shooting match down to the suits and the dunecrawler. He probably wouldn't have won still but some savvy play could have kept it going, it felt a bit like someone quitting because they got too frustrated with their early mistakes and didn't want to put the effort into trying to claw it back.
To add to this discussion of missplay: Only the doctrina Imperatives should aply to the Skitarii, the Canticles are not aplicapbel to Skitarii! This would mean the light cover 2+ Save combo was not possible the Skitarii shoul have saved on a 3+ not a 2+.

Welcome to the hobby! As a relatively experienced admech player. My recommendations would be to just pick up a few skitarii and a dominus or Marshall if you wanna get straight to low points games. From their decide if you want to go down the kataphron (9-12 battle servitors ) infantry spam (40-60 skitarii) or specialist routes. (15-30 skitarii + a spam of elites, fasts or both tanks) Because really your core of troop slot models is the most essential soul of the army. Having access to all the hq options is a good idea. From there its really just whatever you think is cool or fun to fill the rest out. They change the way admech functions VERY drastically a lot of the time. So it's not an army to buy just for the rules. For example I have 40 electro priests that used to have 4 rules and ap- weapons and 20man squads. Who are now no rules, ap 0 10man squads. You can't predict the rules. So just buy for collection and fill things out for rules just before events and multi game days when you know it will be relevant. Hope that's helpful.
You might've missed a thing - the dominus actually has two guns on his profile - volkite/eradication and macrostubber (pistol) /phosphor serpenta (assault) as a secondary
Deepstrike is 9 inches, tau flamer has range 12. The breachers have to choose to set up the missile turret in the command phase and it doesn't have any movement so they'd have been locked on the back objective had they done it
It seems that all the armies I wanted to see victorious got destroyed, necrons got killed, Space Marines where sent to the warp and Tau got outgunned by the Omnisiah worshipers. I guess my luck has left me all by myself here 😂😂
@@alandtic4616 Ruleswise, Skitarii and the Dunecrawler don't get canticles, but the bigger issue was definitely the Tau player throwing away 2/3 of his army for no reason.

this was basically all the luck on one side and all the what not to do on the other.
still good show and well worth a watch and a like.
Also no marker drones which would have allowed a unit to hit at +1 balistic skill.
Also a massive mistake deep striking the crisis suits on such a small arena, losing a turn of shooting and leaving the rear objective open like that
It’s unfortunate seeing the player that goes first in these games blunder half of their forces into threat range for nothing in return
Also Breachers have a 4+ save so they wouldn't have all died.
