Having a passion for wheeling can teach you many skills that you may have never acquired other wise. Welding, math, fabrication to rebuilding differential gears, transmissions and transfer cases. I get a great deal of mental therapy from both the fabrication aspect as well as the actual wheeling. My tire of choice 43” Sticky Swampers 3 psi. My buggy is fairly light and Swamper side walls are very heavy.
I agree, you learn so much you would not normally learn by rockcrawling! Wow, 3 psi, that’s awesome, I always wanted to try out the 43 inch sticky swampers, my friends that have them work great!
Thanks! The challenge is what keeps the trails empty. If I go up to the mountains in the summer, it’s completely packed with Jeeps and rzrs, if I go to the rockcrawling trails anytime of the year, they are pretty empty, that’s what I like!
Our sticky tires are no different than drag car tires, that's how I explain it. Tread depth/pattern isn't as important as actual contact area. Rubber to rocks! Like you said, out here in the West at least 😁
The only part you really didn't cover is Snow wheeling tires. Where I live in N. Idaho we need the deeper tread or we just spin. I actually have 3 sets of wheels and tires for my Jeep. 1 set that is keeps me street legal, 1 set for summer, and 1 for snow only!
Rock crawling is stupid lol it costs so much money!! I think all the time how I can’t afford it. Yet somehow I end up still buying parts and still hitting the trails. It’s all how you look at it. How deep you get into it. And how much you love doing it.

Agreed: we are dumb for liking rock crawling 🤣 So much time, money and effort to go out and wreck tires and parts.

Those kr3s hook up dumb good, But they wear down painfully fast. Krawlers are a good choice on a light rig for sure
I really liked the KR2s, they have great sidewalks, but they do wear fast! I will be interested to try out the reds again!

That’s a good way of describing it, I didn’t think of! But once you go sticky, you never go back!
We always use anti seize just to be safe. You ever have problems with corrosion when taking them back apart?

That’s a great mix of tires you have there! After thinking about it, there are quite a bit more I could have covered in that video.

These tires are going on my custom rock crawler, so the suspension is completely custom double triangulated with fox air shocks.
