    Hands down fabulous tire in the snow I have Maxxis razor Mt 33 On my 1984 4runner did incredibly well through blizzard conditions in Donner and Tahoe going downhill braking fast and not slipping. Really great control driving them through thick snow and hard ice. Had my fun doing brody's in 2' of snow and plowing through without bogging down through 4' of snow. I felt comfortable on the highway driving over a foot of hard packed snow on a steep hill doing about 55 to 60 at times in blizzard like conditions.

      I'm getting ready to put on a set of 37-in on my 2005 F350 dually. How did they do on the highway? Do you feel like you should have gone with more of an all-terrain tire or you happy with what you got?

    • @raminit1363

      @@mr.dozer.7471 - Really happy with the tire. Very even tread wear, rides very well. Only thing I will change is tire size when it's time to replace. Gonna go down to 35's.
      Because of the aggressive tread, you will feel a little bumpiness when you first take off from a stop, which can get a little annoying in California stop and go traffic, but it does smooth right out when moving.
      If you do very little to no offloading, a all terrain may be better for you.

    Yes, narrow snipes (small burrows inside of the lugs/contact patches) increase snow traction like crazy.. snow sticks to snow.. and once its stuck and packed in there, it just adds traction. Thanks for the tire video.. its nice to see people analyze what's out there on the market.

    Honestly never considered these tires as outstanding in any one thing outside of durability. Durability seems like the most noteworthy quality of these tires from what I have seen of them in action. Never owned a set but it's a tire I pay attention to. Nice review. Man I loved my Ko2s in everything except mud honestly. Wish they were a bit more true to size though.

    I'm gonna second anyone giving you a thumbs up. You're doing an excellent job on your videos. You've inspired a lot of what I want to build but with an XJ Cherokee. Definitely want to go 40's. I live in Idaho, so we got some nasty snow here and the mud is super heavy snot like clay. It's super easy to get stuck in the Caribou mountain and Bone area because of those reasons.
    You should look into Yokohama X-MT's. I've met a couple guys running them and they love them in all conditions so far. They drive here and all around Moab Utah too. They are very aggressive tires but surprisingly they aren't terrible on the pavement. You should give them a try. I'm going to go with a set of those in 40x13.50x17's

    I have a set of these on my Sand Rail, when I do trail rides. I live in Arizona, my experience is in deep sand the last thing you want is an aggressive tire you will sink to your axles quick unless your moving fast. Believe it or not a regular street will do well in the sand versus an aggressive tire.

    I’ve been told that many off-road tires have changed their lug size within the pattern itself so that no two are the same size. It’s said that this minimizes the acoustics brought on by air and vibration as the tire rotates on the road. I guess this keeps the tire from resonating and producing a howl. IDK...

    I run the creepy crawlers in 37 which looks to be the same tire. I liked them for durability but traction in the rocks is not great without beadlocks. They need to be aired down to about 5 psi to grip but man are they tough. Only time I cut one was a roll over in Moab that pulled the tire off the wheel then shoved the wheel through the sidewalk when the Jeep landed on it. I have peeled two steel.wheel apart on the rocks and not hurt the tires.

    I have 6 RAZR MTS on a chase bypass rack setup raptor. Deavers, traction bars, long travel.. etc.. Ran a lot of sand in CA and I ran TX beaches. I'd give them a 4 in the sand for sure. They were stupidly good in the sand even at street pressure. I pulled out a few bro-dozers on the 20s sunk in sand. I have bead locks so airing down on the beach I went over spots UTVs were stuck. Im originally from MN and the RAZR does not have much for sipes. Not so good on ice. Snow depends on what kind fell and how deep. Air down and throttled in deep snow is different than dirt or paved roads and they are better than full MTs. Duratrac's are probably the best for snow/mud compromise. They will beat the ATs on that rover, I ran them on an 80 series locked Toyota cruiser.

    Honest review. I like how you did a sort of comparison from ko2 (what I have) vs these which I am cosidering getting. I haven't done much mud myself yet but soft sand, rocks, dirt, snow the KO2 have been fine thus far. Appreciate the info.

    Thanks for the review Nate. I gotta say when you are talking and the wheel/tire is in front of you it really puts how large the tire is into perspective. Either there's a little kid talking or they are some Hugh Jass tires! Or both, haha.

    Maxxis tires are great I had them on my FJ in a 6ply which was awesome for a light 4x4 daily driver cause the everyday ride quality was there and they were quite and then love them so much i put them on my 97 f350 powerstroke 4x4 4dr LB in a 10ply and they towed well and got me in and out of sticking situations. Most under rated and overlooked tire. I have a jk now and will be putting these on it and recommending them to my jeep group. But you know they will just think I'm a cheap ass cause they think price and name are where it's at lol

    Hey brother! Through and through your channel is becoming my favorite. Love to see more content like this but also for the more DD who wants a bigger tire and minor escapes to the good life of off-road. Have a 74 J10. Want to run 35’s with R15. Suggestion with a budget? Dana 44’s 4.10 gears. Prefer more of a skinny. Live in GA with that clay!
    Thanks! Keep up the great work!

    When the KO2s wear out, you should try out Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws. They have been a tremendously great tire for my Jeep and they actually do exceptionally well in mud, surprisingly. I plan to run a Milestar Patagonia M/T next. Great video and keep up the great work!

      Michael Nord you will be lucky to get 20k out of a set of Patagonia’s. Plus they are not impressive in the mud compared to trail grapplers.

      Dynapro atm... I took them in the mountains of montana with less than 2/32 tread during hunting season and forgot my chains.. got a little nervous but got home. Multiple stories from this winter, making it to the fiancees cabin in late November high drifts, But I'll save the details. Would definitely get them again if money wasnt an issue which is why in here haha. Idk if it's a testament to the tires, the truck (99 powerstroke, 6 speed manual) or growing up in northern Michigan with a 2wd truck though. haha. But those tires have been nothing but beast mode for me (315/75/16)

    Almost went with the Rzrs but ended up going with Cooper Stt pros. So far its been my favorite tire. They seem to be a great all around tire. My old bias ply TSLs were a one trick pony! The Rover will do awesome in the snow. Just make sure your traction control is working!

    • @donhappel9928
      @donhappel9928 4 роки тому

      As a Rover owner, the main issue I find with Rovers in deep snow (basically bottomless) is the weight and small tires mean they don't float very well and you end up high-centered. As for those Cooper STT Pros - I've had a set on my LR3 (275-70-18) for about 3 years now. Performance has been pretty good in mud, rocks, and snow. Haven't spent much time in sand. And while they still have tread depth they chunk worse than anything I've had. Literally entire tread blocks have torn off down to the cords. Also have several bad gashes in the sidewalls though they are still holding air. They are a 'big' tire for their size, so I've decided to go up to a 285/70-18 Yokohama G003 next. It's actually only .1" wider, but .6" taller which should be 33.9". Will be interesting to see how they compare.

    • @krover01
      @krover01 4 роки тому

      @@donhappel9928 Interesting about your experience with the coopers. I had that same experience with my TSLs. Mostly because of how big the lugs are. Ive had the Stt pros for about a year now and have had zero chunking and zero cuts! Im running a 35x12.50 on the Rover so it doesnt really sink too bad in snow( Nc doesnt get that much anyway) Same in the sand. Had zero issues while out on the outerbanks for a week.

    • @donhappel9928
      @donhappel9928 4 роки тому

      @@krover01 I'm running them on a very heavy fully built LR3 and they've seen their share of rock crawling (Rubicon) as well as more typical moderate wheeling. I do run them at 50 psi on the street to help with heat and mileage. I've actually liked their performance over-all, but the chunking got out of hand by around 25K miles. Now on my D1 I run 37x12.50x15 PitBulls and LOVE them - great in the rocks, snow, mud, whatever I've thrown at them. But not exactly the tire for the typical Rover owner. :)
