Watching the guitar scene, all I could think of is that it has to be some kind of out of touch concept of what is considered "cool". I had the same feeling watching this scene as a teenager would when they hear their parents call their PS5 a "Nintendo". I don't know, maybe I'm completely wrong and we'll end up finding out that there's an interesting meaning to it, but at first glance, this is how I felt.
Stellar blade news, the Shift up CEO Kim stated this about the game:
Kim confirms that there will be around 25-30 costumes for Eve around the game. All of them IN-GAME. We'll be able to Collect costume material and designs in-game. Some of them will be able to be purchased in city towns/vendors. There will be some rare costumes too, unlocked via new game plus. Adam and Lily will also have outfits. All of this IN-GAME, NO GACHA, NO PAYWALL. Also, game will be around 25 hours main story, 35 to 50 for full 100%

I am confused as to how making a sequel makes it less Kojima, thats not really what he's famous for... I mean he literally worked on the same franchise for 25 years straight.
What he means is that it loses some of the surprise, nothing to do with the quality of the game but its a continuation to a vision you have already see, nothing wrong with that
Here is some additional info from the interview between the director of Shift Up and IGN Japan.
- Single player game
- Mix of linear and semi-open world areas
- Combos, parries and evasions plays a big role in combat
- Gameplay requires you to carefully assess enemy movements
- Difficulty adjustment available
- Has long-range weapons
- Has fishing
- 20~30 costumes for Eve and there will be costume available only from NG+. Adam and Lily also have costumes.
- Has rare costumes. Players will need to gather mats and design in game.
- Inspired by : Battle Angel Alita, Blade Runner, Nier, Sekiro, God of War, Bayonetta and Star Wars Jedi : Fallen Order

I think what gets lost in the "kojima is kooky" is that the metal gear games were actually really fun games to play. And the kookyness was something that enhanced that. I feel like thats been lost

had the same reaction to rise of the ronin. some of it looks great and some not so much. i usually trust TN so i expect the combat to be great but the open world stuff i have a feeling will ruin it

22:02 Idk about this take when Kojima made multiple sequels of MGS. What makes Kojima is not the revolutionary or new but his long ass movie like games , American culture references, showing his love for movies, and the girls.
Yeah I have no idea how someone could think Kojima is "always doing something new and revolutionary" when he basically did almost exclusively the MGS games (minus the zone of the enders) for almost 20 years straight. Brand new and uniquely weird compared to his other entries was never Kojima's thing and it's genuinely confusing why someone would think that and then write off the second game in a series from the guy as just being "more random stuff of this type of weird" as if his weirdness was ever random or constantly different. His whole take there sounded like it was coming from someone who has only ever heard of Kojima's games not someone who has actually played them.

Rise of Ronin combat looks a lot like their last game Wo Long and I wasn't the biggest fan of it.
i mean with the kojima stuff, thats just the same with all his games. mgs series wasn't much different than each other apart from afew new mechanics here and there. ds2 is no different. his weirdness just comes mostly from his trailers doing crzy stuff and having a bit of fun with it.
I like mgs series, but i find Kojima hype extremely overrated his games are ok that's all
The thing is, he makes every game very different, even MGS itself, like the survival system in MGS3 and Mother Base management and co-op, even Monster Hunter in MGSPW.
In some of his games, like Boktai, a game from GBA handheld, you need to play under real sunlight to charge your weapon.
His ideas can be hit or miss because he tries to make a new thing.

I mean it's obviously subjective. Personally I find his games just tiresome, and the way people waste time on his shenanigans instead of spending time on showing more games. Kinda like the game awards last year wasted time on him instead of letting the winners of awards speak for longer then 30 sec. Granted he wasn't the only one they wasted time on.
The designs lone are absolutely top notch. He truly has some of the best concept designers out there.
He's hard carried by Yoji Shinkawa.
What I've learned over the years is that there isn't such a thing and an auteur in gaming. Games are made by a bunch of people, and whilst it's clear in terms of vision he has a lot to offer, I can't help but feel there are collaborators who helped him make games like the metal gear games that he no longer has access too.
The metal gear games were kooky but they were also really fun games and that's a big part of their legacy and I wouldn't say that's something Kojima really seems to have
Death stranding was something I told myself it would be unique and good. After playing it I forgot the explanation of the story. I mean it is weird but good would be understandable. So 2 feels like it won't make any sense even when playing. I don't want to spend $70 to be confused. Sorry Kojima.
The story is pretty straight-forward, there's just a lot of worldbuilding/lore that's a bit more complex.
Stellar Blade just doesn't look all that good to me. They had such a long trailer and couldn't give us 10 seconds of raw gameplay? the shots all looked very weird.

To be honest I think @Cohcarnage is a little insecure on what it takes to develop a game such as DS2. Even though visionaries such as George Miller, Mamoru Oshi, Guillermo del Toro, Jordan peele understand and respect kojimas vision as revolutionary in the gaming industry, but lacks the instant gratification for those looking for a quick fast and in a hurry game that lacks critical thinking skills and patience.. Of course games that have a big booty protagonists with "special" physics, cliche RPG D&D action/narrative, and diving simulator with a Godzilla add on, or the saturation of MCU/DC games will of course resonate with that type of crowd, and think it's ground breaking. Kojima has been involved with gaming industry for 40 years..with classics that'll be known for generations even to those who haven't even played any of his games. Created one of the best horror games even though it was a demo, action series etc. For those who don't know higgs (Troy Baker) is a musician hence the guitar.. Sam (Norman Reedus) is himself hence his real tattoos, mannerisms etc. kojimas like to pay homage to those involved with his project why is that weird? Compared to the whole catalog of games we've played throughout the years and that's considered strange?.. but sex sells and that's definitely apparent with stellar blade (which maybe a good game). Not to say kojimas hasn't done silly scenes that involve mature audiences. Nah it must be because of the stellar animation and combat that DMC, ff, neir automata, d&d2 are portraying which we've never seen before (not to say they are bad games).. we fear the unknown, and reject that which we don't understand. Don't worry though.. There will be playthroughs of DS2 when it comes out cause you know we gotta hop on the bandwagon, boost those algorithms, and get those views up.. I get it, get that money, but don't undermine those who've been involved with the game industry long before most of us were even born. DS walking simulator.. ok well cod, battlefield shooting simulators.. mk, sf, Tekken, virtual fighter all fighting simulators technically right?.. it's odd how games become more advanced but yet we want less from it so we can get that quick rush so we don't lose interest within 5 minutes of playing it. With that being said @Cohhcarnage I appreciate your opinions on certain games but not with this one.. keep up the good content though 👍
