- Death Stranding 2 got its first in-depth look during PlayStation's January 2024 State of Play. Sam Porter Gridges returns. Once again, he's not alone. But instead of having a baby as his companion, he has a weird little puppet guy. Higgs also returns in The Crow makeup armed with a guitar. The game is expected to release 2025.

The fact that I just watched an almost 10 minute trailer and still have no idea what is going on is a feat all its own. I think it's finally time I give the first one a try.
Parts of the 1st game I still found confusing so be prepared I suppose.

That's honestly part of what makes it such a joy to experience. It's original storytelling that somehow manages to retain its' mystery all throughout. People mock it with the whole "walking simulator" thing, but the gameplay fits the story. I recommend sticking to the main quest line, and the main side quests. There's a bunch of endlessly generated fetch quests in the game that will make you quit if you overdo them. They are strictly for people who want to play the game forever. Anyways the lore is fascinating. It's a world like ours, but so uniquely different. It's also a universe who's logic is consistent throughout the entire experience. Kojima really delves deep into the concepts he comes up with. He's not shy to just embrace the insanity of imagination and have fun with it, and somehow tie it all together and have it sorta make sense.
Give it a go! It's a cozy little artistic game in a AAA big-budget package. You've never played anything like it.

Norman Reedus' voice acting is really, really good in this trailer. He is really getting comfortable in his role.

People are talking how wild the guitar scene is, yet everybody miss the fact that the trailer opens with George Miller!
For those who do not know, George Miller is the director of the Mad Max movies. Kojima loved the last Mad Max - Fury Road where there is a scene of a crazy guitarist throwing flames on top of a modified truck. When I saw the first trailer, I thought "Well Kojima was really inspired by Mad Max", I didn't expect him to bring George Miller himself to the game!

Here's the thing.. This is how you know this man truly cares about creating games and telling stories....
Because of the public criticism for the first game, ANY OTHER COMPANY OUT THERE would have canceled any plans of a sequel. The fact that he's still putting the man hours in to make a second game proves that his vision is beyond just making money.
Oh absolutely, DS isnt for everyone sure I agree with that but those who actually do give it time, well they are up for a wild ride. I wasnt patient at first and wanted to quit, but once I immersed in actually playing the game (rather than focusing on the destination or action) only then I began to enjoy the actual journey. The characters unique and plot was bizarre but it kept me hooked. 100% agreed. Unfortunately, I do not have a PS5 so Ill watch the gameplay from a steamer or something 😅

Would be cool if there was a Crow game, the crow is a flexible concept so it doesn't have to follow the same story of Eric or other novel protagonists.
I remember playing the first game thinking it was a fantastic idea that needed expanding on with things like weather impacting the environment. So glad they've done exactly that with the sequel.

I love that Kojima is still paying homage to Metal Gear Rex with the ship designs just awesome.
The first game already had some of the best looking landscapes I’ve ever seen in a game but this new engine is INSANE.
Same engine. It's just this one is being built for PS5 only. Whereas the last one was limited by PS4 tech.

I got the feeling from fragile showing sam other rooms on the ship and specifically saying they’re exactly like yours but for other crew makes me think on the server your on people will have private rooms on your ship kind of like how you could go into other players built private rooms in the first I definitely think the online elements will be more integrated this go around.
i'm actually praying this game has a co-op mode

Okay- weird, but I’m in. Elle Fanning too? Love her. If you haven’t watch The Great. I thought we didn’t decommission Lou. Aside from the puppets and one sidekick being Luci from Disenchantment. The music and fight scene make it. Recently, I found that people enjoyed this (Luke Stevens) because of the calm traversal, environment, and achievement that you make your own without yellow paint. I enjoyed it- I hope people look at the game differently.
I really really hope Kojima back some if not all of Low Roar'a music, in honor of Ryan Karazija. RIP

@@booboo4963hideo kojima hid the release date in the games title art for years leading up to the release and nobody noticed until after the game came out so there’s definitely relevance in looking into everything in his trailers it’s part of the fun of waiting for a new game by him. He once said the game starts before it’s even released.

I loved the first one. Very innovative and had you on the edge of your seat not having weapons with some of those sneaking missions. Having an open mind to new things helps with these new games. Keeps things fresh.

this trailer alone made me play DS 1 and i can tell you all for sure that it's an amazing experience so far (and I'm like 20 hours in) give it a chance!

My prediction is the game will be focused on finding out what happened to Lou after earlier in the game Lou appears to die. Sam reconnects with Higgs and finds out that Lou is on a beach on the other side. So, Sam goes to the beach, reconnects with Amelie who has been the generous donor the whole time who tells Sam that Lou is in the real world. Sam finds her, but has a showdown with Higgs who kidnaps her. Sam ages to in time fall to save her.
That’s my guess, also guitar gun is great.
I just can't stop watching this, the art direction is exquisite, just the right ammount of weird and innovative, looks unsettling but yet familiar. Loved it.
Can't wait to get back to delivering the mail in my weaponized exo-suit.

This franchise is going in a really weird direction, but i think it's in good hands with kojima. I'm just wondering what the sentient puppet is all about. Maybe something with putting souls from the beach into inanimate objects? Also, in the beginning with Sam and Fragile, they're blue, which is the color of the souls lost on the beach seen in Heartman's cutscenes and the end of the first game, which maybe means they found some way to build things and "live" on the Beach?
Many theories are there, some are saying that we'll be able to travel through the beach and the seam itself in the Magellon. And yes, the theory behind the puppet is very likely the only logical explanation. Its possible that yhe pit the ka or the soul of a dying man in the puppet to save him. Kojima says we'll get to find out his story as we progress in the game.
DS1 was a flop. The game is not in good hands.
