Melee weapons might have some alternate attacks based on tap vs hold presses. Most weapons allow you to move while aiming. The lock-on is fairly reliable. What's wrong?

I know people nowadays are saturated of walking simulator horror games with defenseless MC but i prefer that over junky distracting unispired combat, Silent hill 2 in particular would be heavily improved by making it like that. But by simply making it not junky and adding little bit of challenge it will at least make it not drag

You're best off trying to play the original or watching a playthrough. This remake looks terrible, and I have zero faith in Bloober team having any sense of tact when it comes to the themes and subtext of the original. Woolie has a good playthrough, or Vinny Vinesauce's. Both are blind so the story hits perfectly.
For the SH2R trailer, it should show the story alongside some action and monsters and end the trailer with an iconic scene. This trailer tries to show the core gameplay, like the environment, puzzles, monsters, and combat, but is trying too hard to show that they can make a combat system in the game, making it look overly dramatic and messing up the tone of the game.
I agree with the sentiment that this game will probably suck. But in the interest of fairness, I'll point out that this trailer was probably made by a marketing team that knows nothing about Silent Hill 2. Or at least they know so little about gamers/fans of the original that they thought the best way to market it was a montage of excessive violence like it was a Gears of War title.

The SH2R puzzle stuff looks neat, visually it looks okay. My issues come from the game not looking darker, the original apartment was almost impossible to navigate without a flashlight. The animations surrounding combat are stiff and the sound effects for the guns aren’t great but hopefully are just placeholders…also the big fucking X button when trying to shake enemies off with the terrible looking blood effect.
Death Stranding 2 feels like pure post-story Kojima. First game is the story he wants to tell. Follow up is "okay here you go you dumb fucks--everything you complained about during the first game right here in your dumb gamer mouths." And I'm here for it. So fucking excited for that game.
not that far for the truth actually, in his podcast he mentions that because of the pandemic and how it mirrored the real world he wanted to focus on escapism. Despite the crazy supernatural stuff, DS1 was quite grounded and it didn't seem like the world was much more advanced than ours. So yeah in a sense i think this game will be a MGS3 scenario, usual kojima stuff and no trying to fool the player.

DS2 has a ninja/Joker who fights you by playing wank guitar solos at you. And maybe a premature baby piloting a mech suit. Same vibes as metal gear cows and a fist fight on a REX.
