I think the issue is that the trailer highlights the absolute worst aspects of the game. The combat in the OG sucked ass too, but the music, characters, and environment were pretty cool.

Love it or hate it Death Stranding is good for videogames. At their absolute best games like God of War and the Last of Us emulate Hollywood oscar bait which is not necessarily a bad thing but it's nice that there is room in the medium for weird stuff like this that some people will absolutely love and others absolutely detest as nonsense masquerading as art. I'm glad Kojima makes games and not movies. Where games like God of War add a bit of movie in to your game, Kojima adds a little bit of game in to your movies. Which is not to say that his games don't have good gameplay but more that he uses video games as a medium to influence the narrative in really cool ways. So I guess what I'm trying to say is let kojimbo cook so we can enter a food poisoning induced coma together and rejoin the mother planet that is Kojimbo's id.

And honestly the game is so gorgeous and there's a sereneness to just walking up a big ass mountain during a snowstorm, and seeing some lonely old man who really needed his medication. Or just completing a delivery for an unknown player, just because you can. Or building infrastructure with a community you don't see directly. Like I said it's just a great game about connection.
Slightly more realism in that ronin game would've been awesome, but on the other hand it's the safer choice for devs to produce hack'n'slash games instead
