- Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday!
I don't even need to ask if you know that voice. It's a nagging voice inside, which speaks up loudly when you're bout to start drawing. It's your inner critic’s voice and it'll complain about your drawing skills, it'll make you feel guilty about spending time with your sketchbook while there are so many other important things that need your attention.
You manage to swat the voice away. You're doing this. You draw. As soon as you put your pen on the paper, the voice is back at it: "wait, WHAT will you drawing? Your subject should be meaningful. When you're spending time drawing, then at least the drawing should have a grand concept, and while I'm at it: it should be perfect."
Relatable?
Today, let's prove your inner critic wrong. You see, there is always something to draw. Especially the mundane things - they are part of your life. You don't need some grand concept or subject to enjoy filling a sketchbook page. Everything is interesting as soon as you start drawing it. And you're drawing life, how cool is that? I have a very deep believe that Life is better when you draw it. That's why I gave my book that title.
Besides, today's subject - the contents of your bag - tell a lot about you. They are very personal, and so very YOU. Which means that, as you are drawing all these pieces on the page, you're drawing a self portrait at the same time.

Materials used in this video:
-Stillman& Birn Beta series
-Lamy Safari nib B Safari nib B Safari fountain pen, nib size B, which stands for bold.
It's filled with Black Carbon Ink from the brand Platinum. This is a water resistant ink, which is suitable for fountain pens (because not all water resistant inks are!), so I can combine my line with watercolor paint.

Oh yeah! That nagging voice has been haunting me for years! It's so hard to keep it quiet and just freely draw. However, whenever I watch your Draw Tips Tuesday videos, I find a way to silence that critical inner voice and creatively flow.

Hi Koosje, I just received your book this week and I love it! I've gotten back into art in the last few years after a long dry spell and find that drawing is the perfect way to be more mindful and present in my everyday life and to draw out moments (no pun intended) that otherwise would slip by unnoticed. It's also injected a lot of joy into my life. Your book really speaks to this perfectly and is such a treasure trove of ideas and inspiration. Thank you for reminding me that art doesn't need to hang on walls to be art, and that the "doing" is as important as the final result. This exercise was so much fun!
