I thought that boardwalk looked familiar…
I live about 30 min from Ocean City, so I was quite surprised to see it used as the subject here. This exercise is one that I expect to be of great benefit, so thank you for the demonstration.

I really enjoyed this drawing ‘exercise’…drawing people … uggh. I want to capture - in lines - the essence of people in motion. One has to be mindful of the body’s proportions while drawing the movements you observe. Please do more of these ‘people in public’ drawings-you offer great suggestions. Thank you…

Thank you! This was so on time, I'm going to ride along with my boyfriend and have nothing to do while he's on an interview. You inspired me to sit outside and draw people around me. Never done that before, so excited!

Thanks for the excellent tips! 🤩Using live cam footage is such a great idea! On a side note, my dad always took us to this beach in Ocean City Maryland when we were kids! 💖

I've found paying attention to negative space helpful to capture moving figures quickly :) a lot of information about their pace and posture in how long a stride is or how close their arms are held to their torso

Thanks, Koojse. Another great video! May I suggest as a next video that you can consider skin tone/colours? Thanks!

This is an important exercise for any artist- being able to capture the essential gesture of a moving figure is such an advantage when working from life, or even from imagination. This lesson is taught in some of the large animation studio internship programs, so any artist working with figures, sequential art or animation should give this a try. Thanks!
