Needs an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. But also Best Director, Picture, Actress, Cinematography, Sound Mixing, Score and Visual Effects.
Agree 100% with all those categories. Excellence personified.
I love Perri.
WE love Perri.
And I love "Arrival." :P
I also love Perri. and would take her to dinner.
Love you all right back! (And Arrival too!)
I don't think people appreciate enough the idea of language. People don't understand the complexity and magic of language. We take it for granted. This movie helps fire the imagination and curiosity.
This movie was phenomenal. PHENOMENAL.
I just saw the movie last night and it's awesome. Easily one of the most original, pure sci-fi movies in YEARS. It has actual ideas that will tickle your intellect and gives the audience the benefit of the doubt. Thank you Eric for writing such a great script.
Best adapted screenplay winner right here
Great interview! I'm going to see Arrival on Saturday. I have been looking forward to this movie ever since I first heard about it. I'm a big fan of proper high-brow Sci-Fi which is rarely shown in the cinema. So this seems to be right up my alley!
What an incredible film. Just got back from seeing it, it's the type of movie that once it's over it just leaves you speechless. Denis Villeneuve is one of the best out there!
Seeing The Arrival in 2 and a half hours. CAN'T WAIT. (Abyss is one of my top 10 movies of all time...so)
This movie has got me to the edge of my seat the whole time, up to the very end. This movie is brilliant! And great interview, Perri. :)
This wonderful gift of a film struck me to the core. Now in my personal top ten films of all time.A masterpiece that dives into and explores the Heart,Mind And Soul.
Seeing Arrival tomorrow. Cannot wait. One of my most anticipated films this year!
Also adore listening to writers/creators speak about their films, more please Collider!
I can´t wait for this film. Seems like those few quality blockbusters we get once in a while. And I mean real quality blockbusters, you know, the type that can be taken seriously even for awards and serious circuits :)
sanyrub
Not sure if it's going to be a blockbuster. I hope it does end up doing well.
F G Type Zero 0 Well yeah it probably won´t do those type of numbers. It has got that vibe though, like something definitely not small. That´s why I put it there in the blockbuster category :)
Superb movie, fantastic interview
Finally something watchable after todays movietalk...
Yes, I don't know about you but I found Rapaport to be an obnoxious ass! At first it was amusing and I chuckled, but it got old very quickly! I was thinking "shut the fuck up already".
Great, great interview.
Great interview giving insight in to the BTS and thought process that's goes into making the beautiful movies we love! Looking forward to more like this
Such a great interview!! I learned so much
I'm seeing this film tonight!
Going to see The Arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to it!
Great interview Perri. I love what he said about the decoding efforts at the other pod sites around the world: artists, sign language and the 4 cello player idea at the Hokkaido site sounded really interesting. I'm fine that we didn't see any of that as it may have emphasised the decoding effort more than necessary, but now that I know what they were, a little bit of me would have liked to have seen some of it :) What a wonderful screenplay you wrote Mr. Heisserer. Well done!
I'm going as soon as I get off work tomorrow.
just watched arrival really dope...ending you will not see coming
Arrival is what Interstellar aspired to be.
watching it tonight at AMC dolby style! I can't wait
me to!
This is the same man who wrote the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street, but wrote Final Destination 5, and wrote this.
0:58 I'm french-canadian and you got it right !!! hahahaha
Really nice interview :)
Imagining Shadows and
Perri is just as cute as she is good at her job! *o*
BALLS! I just paused it at 4:45. And spoiler warning 'round here? No worries, I'll finish it when I get back from the movie later.
It sounds like a spoiler but he's actually just implying them landing on earth which is shown in all the marketing.
Got back hours ago. Here I am. Still awake at 1am. This happens with certain movies. It...BLEW MY FUCKING MIND. On the drive home I had this moment of...holly shit! Its a work of art in many ways. Going for 2nd viewing in a few days.
Read the Silverwing books by Kenneth Oppel so you can evaluate the idea of a movie franchise
He loves Lovecraft, he's a good man.
Perri should produce the next FD.
Sounds good to me! 😉
Get Denis Villeneuve for an interview!!! Please!
The way you pronounced the name Perri is how French ppl would do it
Perri is a babe
GUYS, guys, guys... Ok, I'm a french-canadian from Quebec, like Denis Villeneuve. This is getting a little bit out of control. Perri, the second one you said was the closest. It's VILLEN*HUH*VE.
Say it like an hesitaiton "Eeehhhh''.... Villen"eeehh"ve. Not easy trying to write it down, I feel like I'm going to fuel more confusion.
Quick, somebody get Dr. Louise Banks. She'll get us sorted :)
Matthieu Côté i've tried to teach them too dude, but we have to understand how tough it is for english speakers.
Villeneuve = Vihlnoov. Trust me, i'm french-canadian too.
I am french and no you definitely don't pronounce an "r" in Villeneuve. I just googled "Villeneuve pronunciation" and almost all the suggestions were wrong... This matter needs to be addressed haha
EDIT: He's French Canadian so he might pronounce it a bit weirdly (they have a very distinct accent in Quebec).
Xelif37 as a french canadian I can assure you we say his name like you frenchies do
Thank you for clarifying !
Movie was excellent except we all know that there has to be sequel to this to explain in more detail how the Squids save "humanity" in 3000 years. Or at least the next phase of evolution.
Dude...spoilers..
Sandman loses Joseph Gordon Levitt as director and writer over creative differences. Gets new writer Eric Heisserer, and he leaves over creative differences. I have never had more reason to boycott a movie without even seeing a teaser trailer. Obviously the studio has no understanding and respect for the source material.
forever known as the guy who ruined shadow and bone on purpose so he could focus on the crows
This movie was quite all right, but not as good as this video tries to put. Interstellar had a much bigger impact on me to be honest ...
