Minecraft is the lego of games. For me it brings the same feeling as legos does. Follow the rules or a tutorial to build and enjoy, or do whatever you want with the pieces. Absolute freedom with the added benifit of everyone being able to play
@@LavaCreeperPeople idk how Minecraft fell off, the games you just listed lost their core imo but minecraft still has it's core. There are loads of things i don't like in minecraft but still the core gameplay is there
Because of my little experience with lego, but not entirely lacking, I do not associate my Minecraft with the feeling of my Lego. Interesting to see your perspective on things...
not my case. i "changed", it became too simple an too easy. i've been spoiled by mods too much. to the point that starting a new game feels pointless. starting a new survival game is basically starting a creative mode with extra steps.(context, i started to play in 2010 and i didn't stop playing until 2-3 years ago, so burnt out quite hardcore)
It’s hard to see Minecraft just become irrelevant. No one has the spotlight forever but Minecraft will at the VERY LEAST be a classic that is remembered by many and played by millions like the original Mario Bros, Pac Man, and Tetris.
The difference between the 80's and 90's classics is minecraft is still a changing game. Many fear that in the future it won't be recognizable to what we once loved. Especially if they discontinue minecraft all together for java.
@Woofa1 and with every release the minecraft community stagnated. 1.9 combat came out over half a decade ago and I can think of 10 servers off the top of my head who refuse to update any farther
the reason why Minecraft is such a great game is because of how unique it is. It is not a first person shooter or a driving game. It enabled creativity for people to basically do anything they wanted.
you're talking about minecraft as a software, not minecraft as a game. it's not special because it's unique as a game. it's special because it is a very powerful software that players build on top of. things like SMPs and crazy redstone contraptions and bedwars and skyblock can be constructed on top of minecraft because of its viability as a software. that's like saying legos are a really unique game - they're not, they're not a game at all, but they ARE excellent building blocks for games. the thing you're trying to identify is its orthogonality. think about the core gameplay loop: break the world, collect the drops, craft new things, put the crafted blocks back in the world. the rules are simple, limited, and they _always apply._ everything can be broken. everything drops something. all of those drops can be crafted into something else. there are exceptions, of course, but the important thing is that gameplay arises from the rule, not from handcrafted exceptions. compare with other games which are very limited so that you can only do what the game "wants" you to do - there is no orthogonal, systemic rule with meaningful applications to every imaginable situation. that orthogonality is why people call it timeless, and what gives minecraft its depth. minecraft as a game is very bland. combat is easy, survival is trivial, gathering resources is a grind. that depth and potential that you're talking about? that's the _engine_ of the game. the exceptionally accessible and orthogonal software that everyone builds on. that's the special bit.
@@RejvExamine Well about that. Notch was actually not very pleasant about minecraft's popularity. It just made him feel more pressured until he gave up and ranted on twitter. And then microsoft said yo can we have it if you don't want it. And he accepted the offer for the adequate pricing.
Minecraft has basically an infinite amount of free advertising, so no matter the actual quality of the game and updates, it'll always be relevant... for better or worse.
One thing that I love about Minecraft is its freedom. It may seem obvious but for such a complex game with many different things to do, not a single one of them is mandatory, you do what you wanna do, and that’s the beauty of it.
@@evilzach1586 I never got it to be honest. "Guns bad, have a crossbow instead..." Essentially, shooting people is bad, so shoot them instead, but instead of a gun with round bullets, use a gun with pointy ones because then it's ok. Or something.
@@aclutchboy5389 for Chatgpt... Minecraft is about teaching it about exploring itself and it's surroundings without human input. It's a "no goal" oriented goal... If you know what I mean. Testing capabilities between actions and autonomy
I am 26 years old and I just started playing Minecraft last year. I feel so sad that I have missed years of it, but at the same time I am so much in love with the game and everything still feels new to me. When I look at those images of Hytale, honestly I prefer the way Minecraft looks. Minecraft definitely has many problems but I still think that it is an amazing game and I hope it will be popular for many years to come.
I am 26 years old and will have played Minecraft for 11 years this August. Trust me, you've missed a _lot._ Servers rise and fall like empires, great seeds come and go as world generation constantly changes, and forums launch and end... Really, I have no idea how I've managed to stay invested this long. Maybe it's the search for a home on multiplayer that I've finally found. Maybe it's the content creators showing me cool building tips and tricks. Maybe, I don't know, it's just... _the_ game I like to play above all others, even while I enjoy some other games from time to time only to put them down and pick up this one again? Welcome aboard, fellow XXVI. Get your pig, horse, llama, strider, and/or camel, and enjoy the journey. (As for Hytale, no. If I am limited to looking like some caricature of a human and can't be a bassarisk on two legs, count me out. If I can...count me out. It just looks _wrong,_ like a betrayal of the simplistic aesthetics I get from Minecraft. I might like varied weapons as much as the next guy, but if I can call a trident a pitchfork and not look too silly, I'll pick the game that lets me call a trident a pitchfork without looking too silly.)
@@SupersuMC It's the mod for me, having such a varied amount of mods and consequently mod packs gives it near infinite replayability. Got into mods because i saw the old video of how to make a portal to the aether, and felt so scammed when it didn't happen in my vanilla game pahaha. there's so much mods, some amazing mods with space, magic, building your own medieval kingdom, magic with plants, even optimization mods as well as generation and biome mods. the replayability is insane and easily my most hours spent on a game by far.
if Java were ignored, modders would basically take it over, virtually recreating every update that comes out on bedrock, but actually making it better, also microsoft would never ditch java, it's basically an advertisement campaign, it's what the vast majority of creators post on, and as such getting rid of that will basically ditch all of minecraft advertisement. also I'm like 80% sure hytale is never coming out
@@OmegaCat9999but it won't because then Microsoft would be shutting down one of the best advertising campaign in history. For the cost of developing 1 or 2 yearly updates for java Microsoft gets free exposure from thousands of UA-camrs and twicht streamers, something that would be way more expensive if they had to directly throw money at it to get the same level of exposure.
I think it's important to note that the java abandonment theory has no confirmation from any official source or any past occurrence that hints mojang would do this, as far as the latest update is concerned mojang still develops both versions equally. It's just nothing more than a fan theory because it feels like it makes more sense in a player perspective: if the game is suffering from dual development, just delete the version with less players. But this doesn't make sense in a business perspective. A lot of the game's advertising and longevity stems from the culture being formed around it through player made custom maps, mods, smps, mini games, and youtube content... All of which use Java for its flexibility and freedom. Bedrock may be necessary for more players to access the game in any and all platforms and devices, but java still has the heart and soul of the game.
I love that the video clip posted was someone claiming that Minecraft Java could be discontinued in 5 to 15 years. The difference between those claims alone is far longer than most games last.
That last sentence, that's it. Java is everything that has to do with the game's cultural impact. The most iconic servers, mods, etc. Tbf, I don't exactly think it's impossible for Microsoft to not care about any of that, but the "less players, less monetization and makes development harder means they're automatically gonna discontinue it" mentality ignores the value Java has beyond that.
i really think people wouldn't be as mad about the possible scenario of Java being discontinued, if Bedrock actually was a 1:1 C++ rewrite of Java instead of "Pocket Edition for PC and Consoles"
@@SnrubSource the main problem with that is that they cant make a fully 1:1 version of java, you cannot fully replicate all the quirks, things like bugs which became features like integral redstone mechanics, tnt duping and anything the technical community comes up with cannot be replicated onto bedrock, mojang tries their best, but its like translating words from one language to another, there will be words for things that the other language doesnt have words for to properly explain and communicate and vice versa. both are unique in many ways, and you cant just stop people from speaking a language either.
@@Topunitoand IIRC part of how they justified that idea that Java would end up discontinued was more because of Oracle who've been an increasingly painful bunch to deal with over the years but they own Sun and Java as a result, that statement was made a number of years ago though I think about the time the name change happened.
I have several thoughts regarding many of your points. First, i think the real reason 2 years had past was because they needed to discuss, coordinate, and work with Mojang with their goals and direction. They needed to figure out a plan of attack with code and limitations. The red tape of acquisition and direction takes time and so i think they started working on almost everything that was coming out long before so they can figure out what to release when to make the best sense. Look at how long games take to develop and they are pumping out new updates quite rapidly. These updates are also quite large in scope so that was probably a good thing they took some time to sit back and make a plan of attack at their new product. Second, eventually Java will stop receiving updates. Java inherently is not great for performance since is almost exclusively uses cpu and ram. This bottlenecks how much you can actually perform (though modders have done things to improve this) and as you said it is also the best for creative expression as it is easier to work with for the community at large. Bedrock is now to perform FAR better, but the modding community suffers and it has many bugs i keep hearing about which java rarely does. I said years ago, before the acquisition, that it would be better to go away from java and use a tool, very similar to how Bethesda provides the tools for modding, that facilitates the community to mod minecraft. There is still a problem with that though. As java stands now it can almost be modded down to some of the underlining workings of the game. People have even undone the combat changes, or many many things. The updates to minecraft add many good things, but what they add is nothing the modding community cannot do (with not as clean work) given some time. As others have stated once they do stop supporting java (it is inevitable that it will) the modding community will just replicate the updates from bedrock edition. In the end, as some others have said, minecraft is digital legos. All the pieces are there to allow for creativity in interesting ways, the community makes this game keep going. The game itself is very simple, but the community coming up with mods, different challenges, restrictions, or other such things actually keep it alive and fresh. What mojang does is less than what the community does for the life of the game. People play older editions for mods and specific things not yet introduced, or removed. Hell, i have played on 1.16 and much of the things in newer editions was made available in 1.16 just because of modding.
@@user-jl7xj5iz9k >They should just rewrite java edition in another language once it comes to that point. That's... basically what Bedrock Edition IS. The problem is that Bedrock Edition kinda sucks in that regard, it feels alien :V
@@higueraft571 i think you got me wrong. i'm not saying it has the same code, i'm saying their completely different games (bedrock vs java) a rewrite is supposed to be a perfect copy. bedrock and java aren't even close

The fact that multiplayer is ran by the community and has ability to support plugins is the biggest factor, you rarely find a game with ability to self host servers letalone lets you build plugins
I was one of the first players in this "new boom", I started playing in the early days of 1.14 because my friends started playing it too, and I was instantly in love with it, discovering Minecraft is one of the best things that ever happened to me, even nudging on the best, it basically changed my life.
It's honestly fun to see how it's developed since my first version Alpha v1.1.2_01 though I sometimes miss the old sprites and I definitely miss Notch I hope you get to enjoy it for many years to come! -someone from the first wave
No, it was and still is the most popular modern game, and it won't die. Many people will leave it, many will join. Personally I have played MC in years 2012-2018, but I still have respect to it
@@Faizan29353trust me Minecraft going to die when Terraria goes 3D, I'm pre-ordering the next Terraria game whenever it's coming out because re-logic makes high-quality Games even though they're Indie Studios. Minecraft should never have been bought by Microsoft then it would still be good, Microsoft ruin the game I get it I love Minecraft I just prefer Terraria nowadays. Microsoft is essentially killing its own games they're making players leave by sabotaging the Java version I know not a lot of players are there but still it's still stupid the chat report feature and the Bedrock version is not that good of a version. And also look at the recent updates they have been not good 1.16 was the last good update the second Terraria Terraria 2 will be much better than Minecraft. Also don't you dare say Terraria is 2D Minecraft because it is not! Anyway what I'm saying is Microsoft is killing their own game and Minecraft would have been better on not selling their soul and not being a sell-out to a AAA company I get it Notch is transphobic but I don't think he would have put that stuff in the game.
Kinda sad about 1.9 and how players were feeling during that time, but I joined during 1.13 and the hype for its rebirth and I got used to the combat right away. I think it's an upgrade from the old combat code.
I've played since alpha and I thought it was a great change. I remember people hating the combat change as much as they hated the exp system, or the hunger system when it rolled out. Lots of the same "this destroys the old game"
i swear how is spam-clicking more engaging than an actual timer system to determine the strength of your attacks and a critical attack feature making combat more interesting all of these (well except for spam-clicking) make combat more critical about when you must hit and if you should try and critical attack or not, risking being knocked back or missing and losing ground on your enemy
1.9 combat is so much better for PvE it's not even a contest. For PvP though? I absolutely prefer 1.8. I find the new combat simply boring and confusing for PvP.
Minecraft will never die, people playing multiplayer and mods keep it up. This is because not so many people play vanilla (singleplayer) and I simply don't understand why, isn't it beautiful to see how much progress you've made? Anyways, this game will always be there for us in harsh times :-)
I firmly believe that Microsoft if it really wanted to could update the game into the ground and ruin it. So long as old versions are avaliable with just the older features, Minecraft with the unlimited potential it has to be modified and built upon makes it so that even if the base game is ruined players will take things into their own hands and improve what needs to be improved. They have done it before and I believe with such a dedicated community that we as minecraft players have, they always will.
I think what no other copycat game can replicate about Minecraft is how flexible it is Yeah you can have a adventure world with crazy storytelling but other than that what else can you use it for Minecraft has that flexibility being modded, coding, servers, pvp, survival smp and that’s what other sandbox games can’t replicate is how flexible Minecraft is
@@letmespeaktoyourmanager For modpacks you still have to download a bunch of stuff on unofficial external sites and their even more annoying to get working.
I remember the first wave of Minecraft's popularity. The 2012-14 golden age. I was 9 when I first started playing, and omg I loved that game. Still do. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if it outlives me tbh.
9:37 This reminds me that my dad played Minecraft in its early days. I was born soon after, and with this stuff, he might have thought Minecraft was over. But now I’m getting interested in Minecraft and I want to make it part of who I am.
I've never really understood the 'boom' of Minecraft again, for me, the game is timeless and I always want to come back to it. I think I didn't play it as much after 1.9, but when i came back to it a few updates later it still had that timeless charm, even if i didn't understand all the new things it had been updated with!
Vintage Story will eventually get attention since it shares the origins on Hytale development bcs the creator used to work with them on 2016 and later he decided to create his own game.
Vintage Story is honestly a masterpiece of a game. Its basically like what every video suggesting major overhauls to Minecraft mechanics is asking for. I'm amazed that its not getting more attention, its so well balanced, immersive, and addicting in a way Minecraft really can't be. Its definitely not a Minecraft replacement or Minecraft killer like Hytale _might_ turn out to be, but its fantastic in its own right. It will take a long time for hype and attention to build though, I'd give it a couple more years at least.
Minecraft will always be in my heart for many reasons. In my opinion, no game can replace the feeling that Minecraft gives. Notch will always be remembered. If he hadn’t sold Minecraft, I feel like it would have been so much better. He honestly would have made more money if he didn’t sell it.
What I love about MC is that I can do as I please in it. I've never been to the End, nor fought the dragon that resides there. I spend my time, walking, climbing, rowing, fishing, farming, and mining. If I can see what's over the next hill or around the river bend, I am content.
it's really a miracle that people don't stop playing this game. Instead of making a fucking LODs for their game that renders everything in full detail no matter how far away it is from the player, they make some questionable updates that take them months or some even years... Also the gameplay loop didn't really change that much, despite the fact that there's like 3x or even 4x more items in game since the last time I've played it in 2013
Great video as always :) Haven't played Minecraft alone personally, but it sounds pretty popular still. I know a few people from my college who recreated our university campus and even "minecraft game sessions" I had at work -- they seemed to really be fun because of modding -- I'm thinking this is likely the reason why it is pretty popular
I feel like Minecraft can't die honestly.. Unless they get rid of Java Edition. As that would effectively get rid of the majority of the community given how easy it is to install and play mods on that version as opposed to bedrock (which you have to buy, and most are typically limited to a specific world that comes with the pack) Even if they stop updating Java Edition, as long as it's still there, then Minecraft will likely stick around for a long time. People can create backport mods for every new feature and pretty much run a self sufficient community
Getting rid of java would make the game better honestly. To achieve a universal minecraft version, the better version must be kept in. The way i see Java is a bugged version of bedrock. For example, you will never understand how the redstone in java works unless you do your research elsewhere because you would literally have to understand the redstone bugs in java.
@@HunterWhatCat1213 please tell me all the bugs in bedrock because honestly as far as i can see, java has much more. I feel like the only reason java is still a thing because all the youtubers are on it. Also a bug with java is that a piston could activate even when redstone isnt touching it, so java is extremely BUGGED
@@HunterWhatCat1213 i have never played java, just as you have never played bedrock. Also I had also never died out of the blue or taken damage ever in my years of playing minecraft bedrock (and pocket edition). Also the piston bug i was talking about is called quasi connectivity, however i think its been added in as a offical feature, and is been accepted by the java redstoners as a "cool" redstone feature. However i do not see this as cool because it breaks the laws of redstone, due to the fact the restone is not touching the piston, however bedrock fixes this. Also the one thing i dislike about bedrock redstone is the randomness to the laws of redstone, like when you activate two pistons facing eachother at the same time, its random which piston pushes first.
Also, although im not sure, i believe hixpixel is only on java because the creators didnt decide to expand their server to java, so it wouldnt be bedrocks fault
Leaving minecraft behind is like quitting smoking. You will quit many times but always have that urge whenever you see it or see others playing it and come back to get your minecraft fix
What is so good about Hypixel studio is that it's a team of people passionate about Minecraft that doesn't want to see their favorite game die in the hands of a trillion dollar worth company so instead they're building their own Minecraft with everything they wanted from the original game. Hytale is not a replacement to Minecraft but an evolution.
Minecraft made it so far, I've enjoyed the game from beta. Its such a fun game. You can build anything, do anything and its just a game that I think people will always love! Thanks Mojang!
Minecraft haters dont care about other feeling Me 2019: I know don't how to make a world Me 2020: I make my first world I am just walking around Same night of 2020: Dig down a tree and full night under tree Me 2021: Now I know how to make simple tools me 2022:I am playing Java Me 2023: I am too good now Nothing can compete your first day in minecraft
I think the biggest problem with moving on from Java edition would be everything the players built. And I don't just mean all the servers and worlds, but especially the mods. To say there are thousands of them would probably be an understatement. Losing Java would also mean losing all the dedication and tech that was put into those mods.
An interresting fact is that minecraft java edition even if has a lower performance with huge fps spikes, most of its problems can be solved by mods like sodium, lithium, iris shaders and some resources packs (capable even of rezolving bugs), giving rock solid performance and also increasing fps by big amount and I find it incredible. Also these solution are implemented by using api's, like forge or fabric, and not by directly modifying minecraft's code (which would give more power), and out there, there are lots of optimitation mods that make the game more lighter, more performant and enjoyable. Even if C++ would be a better programming language for mc, java still has a lot of potential for optimization, and our Modder community proved it to us. So I think Microsoft and Mojang should take inspiration from our community that loves so much that game and do these improvements.
Hytale shows a lot of promise, but it feels like it will never release. Like, ever. But, looking at their blog, it does seem they are still working on it. I believe that once it realeases, even if it takes another 5 years, it will absolutely detonate in popularity. that being said, at least early on. people liked Minecraft's simplicity and janky blocky nature. Hytale almost seems TOO polished and great. But time will tell if it succeeds. Side note, being written in C++ really has no effect on performance in the long run. With mods, Java edition can completely blow Bedrock Edition out of the water in terms of performance. It all depends on how much effort the team puts into optimizing the game. In fact, using Java might be a reason the game succeeded; Java applications are extremely easy to beak apart and modify - They didn't even need an official modding API, because the programming language itself allows for moding by default. Compare to C++ where modding without an official API is basically impossible.
Hypixel studio just want to take their time. They want to deliver the best product because they know dang well that if the game isn't perfect from launch, people will call it a minecraft copy and will never pay attention to the game again
Can everyone stop saying they will faze out Java edition mojang said they have no plans and will likely never stop updating let alone get around that version of Minecraft
I am still a Minecraft fan, and I always loved it. So much new stuff added, and more ways to go forward. Its still the best game to this day. Steve was the forst, so he is basically the sans from undertale, but for minecraft. I refer to sans as people know him a lot even before playing the game, same for Steve, if you mention him, everyone knows. You can see the reactions when it hit Smash Bros. I am proud of being a part of Minecraft, so much new stuff, may not be the same as years before, but building has been getting better.
Some informations here might be already a bit outdated. The Minecraft platforms were already combined years ago via community mods. Java Minecraft servers can by joined by consoles and mobile phones via the Geyser plugin/proxy, which just translates the data packets. Also there are many pros of also having a Java version: - It's the only one running on MacOS and Linux. Scrapping it would mean loosing support for these platforms. - Even if stuff is written in 2 languages, the algorithms for the world generator etc. only need to be developed once and can be used by both teams. So the additional costs might be moderate. - It also has advantages to diversify. The overall brand will be more resilient and doesn't depend on a single technology. - Using different technologies allows to use the advantages of both for different audiences. - Java is much more suited for server programming than C++. - Java Is only maybe 10-20% slower than C++. Not 100-200%. And in some scenarios faster. Proper algorithms can be used to fix performance issues. - Tons of mods and plugins have been written in Java. It's the engine where most of the community and server development takes place. - Even if Mojang would decide to discontinue the Java version, the community probably won't. - The consequences and damage for the brand wouldn't be predictable when scrapping it. Eventually having the community even split up more than before. This in a sum doesn't look like support for the Java Edition would end soon. Rather it would be possible to have a shift to a combination of C++ clients (which typically run faster on GPUs) and Java servers (which typically are better with complex CPU-bound logic and networking). Also, Simon is not working on Hytale anymore. Core of the Hypixel staff were Java Developers, not C++ developers. When Hytale was sold, the original C#/Java edition was scrapped. They then hired many new C++ developers, visible in job announcements. By that you can assume that the original Hypixel team isn't involved anymore. So the game here to come won't have all the previously announced features anymore and will very likely be a totally different one.
The fact that you can do whatever you want in minecraft, is what kept it alive, total freedom within the game's mechanics, and then, there's mods to change the mechanics as well.... Now you get, total "full" freedom. Minecraft is more than a game, it's a game engine itself that happens to be playable by default.
1:42 I wanna say that the performance drops are not because of it running on Java, but because of the ancient code-base that was not made to run such a big game. This is mainly due to it not being multithreaded/async in Ticking, Chunk Stuff and so on
I believe Minecraft could solve their big problems if they made 1 universal version of Minecraft bringing the positives of both versions together. There’s just something I can today my finger on with hytale that makes me not sure about it
Its impossible with how they are both structured. Micro trans actions would be a necessity for microsoft, and that'd piss off every java player in existance, and especially if its made in C++ and can't be modded like java, since bedrock can only have add-ons which severely limits the scope of modifications. Why else do you think why you don't see something like create in bedrock? Because its simply impossible with how its structured.
@ZeroBytes0 my brain no work but yeah closed source is the problem, and just adding onto existing code cant make some of the greatest mods i've played. Since most of them rewrite some of minecraft's code so that it either becomes almost an entirely different game, or just small improvements become harder to make. Then again, I may be biased since i know how to code in java and not c++.
@@alternativeaccountmercury that IS biased. Java is a less superior system than c++. C++ innovates on the popular C language and is used by most platforms
8:45 that doesn't seem bad for sales per year. but other graphs, (by just searching minecraft sales per year) showed different numberes, mainly 2018 only selling 10m
This is gonna age well with Hytale around the corner. Minecrafts days are numbered. Sure it won’t become 100% dead but it’ll become unprofitable overtime and Microsoft will probably just sell it or abandon it like they have done before with other things.
People keep bringing up TF2, which has a community so dedicated, that through 5 years of ZERO major updates, the game is still incredibly popular. Minecraft is an even bigger game. Unless Microsoft seriously does something awful to it, it won't die. It can't die. Throwing in my two cents, I started playing this game in 2011 when I was 5. Although I have grown up now and am almost a legal adult, I still play this game every single day. I took breaks sometimes, but in the end I would always come back for more. I know I'm not the only one who feels *this* connected to the game. Realistically, if Microsoft *did* do something that killed the game, I might honestly keep playing older versions for the nostalgia alone.
Minecraft (and Terraria too) are like the TF2 of pixel sandbox games. The old animations and community are never going to go away completely. They might get down to absurdly low amounts... but they will mever be truly gone.
Minecraft is an experience, and an experience that fun and good can never die that easily. Even if it does it will be a monument that took the world by surprise and will always be remembered as the Greatest of all games
The reason for the update hiatus is because the code was held, ON PAPER, by lawyers during the transaction, and no one at Mojang could work on the game
I really do hope Hytale succeeds, not just for the sake of their beloved developers, but also for Minecraft. I see a future for these two similar to what happened between Valorant and Counter-Strike, where healthy competition made Valve have to keep up with Valorant and improve CS on a more frequent rate.
@@joeburns8054 I don't think that'll be the case lol. Minecraft and Terraria released pretty close in time to each other and Terraria is very much its own thing anyways. The comparisons between the two games were always quite superficial and they weren't ever really competing with each other that much. Terraria just took inspiration from a few basic ideas from Minecraft but it plays VERY differently. Minecraft didn't have much to lose from promoting Terraria and rejecting the (at the time) widespread idea that it's just a cheap Minecraft copy. Same for Terraria. Meanwhile, Hytale is basically Minecraft+. It's trying to be a straight upgrade. I do not see Minecraft promoting Hytale, that would be like suicide, the two games will be fiercely competing with each other.
Minecraft was such a huge part of my childhood as I’m sure it was for many others. While I don’t play Minecraft nearly as often as I used to when I do go back to it always brings back so many memories! 🥰
The main issue with hytale is the development progress, the initial trailer is now 4 and a half years old, and they've delayed the game for the foreseeable future "2024" but they said the same thing "2023" back in 2022 when they delayed it the first time. Hytale will either flop or overtake minecraft instantly because of what the development team has been doing.
People are being impatient and have (understandably) lost faith due to how the industry works. I think they'll make something amazing, since the payoff for actually creating a true Minecraft competitor would be unbelievable.
I don't think they've even said 2024 lol, I think last I heard from them they've straight up admitted they have zero idea when the game will release. It might release 5 years from now, who knows. I mean, it doesn't matter either way. The only period where development time would've mattered was the initial hype period after the trailer, and they've missed that already so they can take as long as they want. Beyond that, for their success it doesn't really matter if it releases tomorrow or in 5 years. Either way the only following it has is dedicated fans, the hype for everyone else died down a long time ago.
@@higueraft571 Yeah fr, I've had an account for about a year now and its amazing how underrated it is. It now seems to be finally, _finally_ getting its deserved attention. Really brings back the original magic of 2012 Minecraft, but with way better balance and more stuff to do.
The thing that I love about java edition is the liberty it gives. You can play which version you want, you can install which mods you want and do all the things you would like. The thing that make me worry about the bedrock edition it's how Microsoft tries to add microtransation and pay walls for basically everything, even mods, trying to milk the most possible from players. Seeing these marketing strategies making their way on minecraft really disappoints me and worries about its future, especially because there is a possibility that the 2 version would merge together.
Minecraft , as for me , its more than a game , its like a deep down feeling in heart that no one can take off from you , you hate it , its the root for all causes , but you love it the most at the same time . I'll be really sad , crying for days if minecraft has died . I just love it . If you've ever watched some videos from squared media , then you'll think that some rules of minecraft , mixed with that of reality will be "perfect". Minecraft has all the things you need( mostly ) .personally , i love to be in village and protect the f**ckingly stupid villagers , ( whom i feel alone without) , pet cats , tame wolfs ,and the best companions of me are the persons who brought me to this game , whit whom i took my baby steps in this game , with their hepl i got my roots deep in this game . We started multiplayer, and till this day , as an introvert , i still mess the charm it has with my brothers , . We are five brothers , we started thi game 3 to 4 years ago , and till this date , we're playing it . After all , I love this game more than any game I've ever palyed . This was my story if this game ever dies ( praying that this won't happen ) . After all , I'll say that , if this game ever lives to itsmost , it'll make history , 'bout the game , who's dynasty can't be beaten , The "MINECRAFT".
As nice as Hytale looks, the difference is high pixel count to Minecraft's more retro low pixel count. Hytale to me is not giving off the retro 8-bit vibe of Minecraft, but it is giving off the kinda MMORPG style vibe similar to games like Warcraft and Runescape, but with the added feature of being a sandbox. Hytale will gain a great audience, but to call it the next Minecraft, is like saying the Nintendo Switch is the new Game Boy. Also the issue with Java is an issue with Java script itself, Im not sure the company that makes the program for Java but they may be limiting the programs capability which then dominos down to Mojang having to work with Java's strength and weaknesses.
I have high hopes that Hytale will be the better game, but even still, it's not clear if it can *kill* Minecraft. Though I'm actually not sure if MC has achieved such a cultural status that it can even survive when a game that does everything it does but better comes out. I think it's possible that its playerbase drops to a fraction of what it used to be if Hytale turns out to be better, but another possibility is that Minecraft will fight back and try harder than ever to deliver amazing content to compete with Hytale. That would be a win-win scenario tbh, maybe this current lack of competition is the reason Minecraft's content has felt lacking for a while, and some competition will give it motivation to be better. Either way one thing we should never doubt is that it will absolutely be remembered. Nobody's going to forget Minecraft's existence anytime soon. And also I doubt Hytale will achieve the same level of nostalgic magic that Minecraft did (especially with its C418 soundtrack), so that's one thing Minecraft will always have value for.
Something about Minecraft is just different than every other game. It is creativity coded into a game that anyone can play. It has so much freedom, which is unparalleled by other games. It is a unique experience for everyone. No two people play identically. That is why Minecraft is an immortal game.
Minecraft in its golden age was no doubt a masterpiece. Its one of those things that I will 100% admit it should have ended when it did, but considering how big it was, there was no reason to stop. The Nether Update was REALLY needed, and I loved it. The Caves and Cliffs was cool, but the "Wild" Update was where it kind of felt like there wasn't enough to consider it being called that. Should Minecraft have ended when it did? Sure Is it still good? Pretty much Is it as good as it was in its golden years? No Could it be worse? Yes Do I still love Minecraft? 50 50

the reason why Minecraft is such a great game is because of how unique it is. It is not a first person shooter or a driving game. It enabled creativity for people to basically do anything they wanted.
you're talking about minecraft as a software, not minecraft as a game. it's not special because it's unique as a game. it's special because it is a very powerful software that players build on top of. things like SMPs and crazy redstone contraptions and bedwars and skyblock can be constructed on top of minecraft because of its viability as a software. that's like saying legos are a really unique game - they're not, they're not a game at all, but they ARE excellent building blocks for games.
the thing you're trying to identify is its orthogonality. think about the core gameplay loop: break the world, collect the drops, craft new things, put the crafted blocks back in the world. the rules are simple, limited, and they _always apply._ everything can be broken. everything drops something. all of those drops can be crafted into something else.
there are exceptions, of course, but the important thing is that gameplay arises from the rule, not from handcrafted exceptions. compare with other games which are very limited so that you can only do what the game "wants" you to do - there is no orthogonal, systemic rule with meaningful applications to every imaginable situation.
that orthogonality is why people call it timeless, and what gives minecraft its depth. minecraft as a game is very bland. combat is easy, survival is trivial, gathering resources is a grind. that depth and potential that you're talking about? that's the _engine_ of the game. the exceptionally accessible and orthogonal software that everyone builds on. that's the special bit.
and it also can be a shooter or a driving game
How has Minecraft survived? It's a timeless masterpiece, that's how.
We need Notch more :)

Sounds like Minecraft should just be open-sourced. MS owns GitHub, so...

Vintage Story will eventually get attention since it shares the origins on Hytale development bcs the creator used to work with them on 2016 and later he decided to create his own game.
Vintage story was more complex and very Immersive that's how I like mincraft to be.
I bought Vintage Story. They need to improve some things, specially combat, which sucks big time!
@@MedievalFantasyTV No doubt man since the game is still in development
Minecraft will always be in my heart for many reasons. In my opinion, no game can replace the feeling that Minecraft gives. Notch will always be remembered. If he hadn’t sold Minecraft, I feel like it would have been so much better. He honestly would have made more money if he didn’t sell it.
at the same time, now he can get on with his life, as he already would have enough fame and money already
i will never play again if java is removed, it is the proper minecraft and bedrock will never compare
Also the gameplay loop didn't really change that much, despite the fact that there's like 3x or even 4x more items in game since the last time I've played it in 2013
Great video as always :)
Haven't played Minecraft alone personally, but it sounds pretty popular still. I know a few people from my college who recreated our university campus and even "minecraft game sessions" I had at work -- they seemed to really be fun because of modding -- I'm thinking this is likely the reason why it is pretty popular
YOU HAVE TO GET IT!!! it is an amazing where you can do anything, so no matter what you like you should enjoy it
238M copies sold?! Damn, I bought ten of those!!
I feel like Minecraft can't die honestly.. Unless they get rid of Java Edition. As that would effectively get rid of the majority of the community given how easy it is to install and play mods on that version as opposed to bedrock (which you have to buy, and most are typically limited to a specific world that comes with the pack)
Even if they stop updating Java Edition, as long as it's still there, then Minecraft will likely stick around for a long time.
Also i believe bedrock is the only version with split screen
Leaving minecraft behind is like quitting smoking. You will quit many times but always have that urge whenever you see it or see others playing it and come back to get your minecraft fix
What is so good about Hypixel studio is that it's a team of people passionate about Minecraft that doesn't want to see their favorite game die in the hands of a trillion dollar worth company so instead they're building their own Minecraft with everything they wanted from the original game. Hytale is not a replacement to Minecraft but an evolution.
Bro if Minecraft dies, it'll leave a big hole in my heart🙁🙁
It would leave me on half a heart
I got 3/4 through this video to realize it was a giant ad
Minecraft made it so far, I've enjoyed the game from beta. Its such a fun game. You can build anything, do anything and its just a game that I think people will always love! Thanks Mojang!

I feel like minecraft is just getting better

@@Pengouinn Exactly. They're putting a ton of work into making it as good as possible before release.
What makes Minecraft popular, it’s the memories we spent playing it
Can everyone stop saying they will faze out Java edition mojang said they have no plans and will likely never stop updating let alone get around that version of Minecraft
Hi Ashish!
Some informations here might be already a bit outdated. The Minecraft platforms were already combined years ago via community mods.
Java Minecraft servers can by joined by consoles and mobile phones via the Geyser plugin/proxy, which just translates the data packets.
Also there are many pros of also having a Java version:
- It's the only one running on MacOS and Linux.
Rather it would be possible to have a shift to a combination of C++ clients (which typically run faster on GPUs)
and Java servers (which typically are better with complex CPU-bound logic and networking).
Minecraft is almost part of everyone's childhoods now. No wonder it's not dead nor showing any sign of dying.
The fact that you can do whatever you want in minecraft, is what kept it alive, total freedom within the game's mechanics, and then, there's mods to change the mechanics as well.... Now you get, total "full" freedom. Minecraft is more than a game, it's a game engine itself that happens to be playable by default.
The Moment Minecraft discontinues java thats the moment Minecraft is dead
@ZeroBytes0 java indeed sucks
C++ innovates on the popular C language and is used by most platforms
what positives? Bedrock edition sucks B A L L S.
unlike games like fortnite and such, minecraft can never fully die because of the infinite possibilities with building and such
8:45 that doesn't seem bad for sales per year. but other graphs, (by just searching minecraft sales per year) showed different numberes, mainly 2018 only selling 10m
This is gonna age well with Hytale around the corner.
Minecrafts days are numbered.
Sure it won’t become 100% dead but it’ll become unprofitable overtime and Microsoft will probably just sell it or abandon it like they have done before with other things.
The simplest answer being - The children yearn for the MINES
Minecraft will never die
Yea lol, this video is biased
Hytale is like modded Minecraft. Ppl still stay for vanilla! Plus, minecraft is now more about community and doing anything you want with friends.
Great video again! I love your " Should be dead " Series!
This is cause we don’t stop playing ,we take breaks because my crafting table and furnace is the only thing I need
I hope it becomes a minecraft and Terraria where they both said to play the other.
Either way the only following it has is dedicated fans, the hype for everyone else died down a long time ago.
hytale has no chance of ever overtaking.
@@StuffandThings_ The catch, however, is that Vintage Story legitmately seems more like an ACTUAL Competitor than Hytale would be :V
Don't hold your breath for Hytale. If M$ removes support for Java we'll just play old versions
exactly
thats one of the games greatest strengths (old versions being playable)
Even despite the amount of times i say i quit due to the game crashing in the 1.20 update Minecraft always finds me crawling back without a word 😂

It's a good game and that's why we haven't seen it die, but Microsoft will *certainly* try
Minecraft and technoblade will never die
The way to help Minecraft isn't to create a different minecraft but to help Mojang fix it as a community
Hytale ain’t coming out anytime soon anyway
Hey man , Love your videos , Would love to see some Older games as well , or why some popular games died as well
Maybe the real Minecraft is the voxels we made along the way?
Sure
Is it still good? Pretty much
Is it as good as it was in its golden years? No
Could it be worse? Yes
Do I still love Minecraft? 50 50
My daughter is playing Minecraft in Peaceful mode as her first video game. It’s sad how the game has been mishandled, but I guess that’s how it is with all games, at least some of the time.

You typically cant easily fabricate information (through means the devs are going "LALALALALAA THAT ISNT REAL THERE IS NO EXPLOIT!!!" at as we speak) in those games, and it typically DOES NOT apply to stuff like LAN servers or singleplayer.
Which is where most bans come from (LAN, Private Realms servers, and generally small personal servers), hell, in a few cases you dont even need to be REPORTED to get banned.
You act like it's a case of simply "lmao just stop acting like kids and blaming moderation", when it's more "the moderation is fucking stupid on it's implementation, and blasts people in the opposite of the places it was intended to"
As soon as you said riot bought hytale, the answer is no , the project will die due to micro transactions and lack of community freedom and toxicity
There is a pattern here, if the game is really accessible like can be played by most or all pc and has modding community it will most certainly live long
