I found 2 baby pigeons just like yours today, and the parents were not anywhere. I waited and monitored them for about 3 hours, and parents never showed up. It was very cold and windy, so I decided to rescue them, hoping they will make it. Thank you so much for this video!😊
Usually parents feed early mornings and come back and feed late in the evening before it turns dark becuz with 2 chicks not enough space in the nest to sit if they have food in the crop it means they are being fed but if they are empty and looking like they are losing weight that usually would be the decision to rescue but now u have the babies makesure to not handle them too much if you want to release and take them to a rehabber who can do aviary soft releasesafter you weaned them that way they learn to survive like the adults your pigeons should be close to weaning so offer pigeon conditioner seed and water in dishes aswell 😊

Today came across a yet to fledge young pigeon on the street. Long story short, I'm a surrogate pigeon Dad until it decides to leave Not sure what kind of peas to feed it. Can I Mix it's food, can I give it whole grain brown bread and milk soked.🍼 🤔☘️
Frozen soft peas that you can warm or soft cooked corn, bread and milk isn't advised but you can get mixed small seeds and feed with a cola bottle with a balloon or rubber glove you have to snip a hole in it then guide baby's beak and it will eat just add a tiny bit of water to the seed if you do the bottle method 😊
This is really useful, we found a much younger one in the garden today, and rescued it from a neighbouring cat. Currently feeding egg and ready-brek based on something we saw on YT earlier.
Very useful video, I am fostering one pigeon with broken neck and he has difficulties to eat so I feed him by hand the green peas, sunflower seeds, sweetcorns and 20 ml of tropican by 1ml syringe
Peas, corn and mixed seed my adults have a conditioner mix that has aniseed oil in it and it comes out of the feathers they smell so good u gotta love sniffing pigeons when u cuddle them altho...when u find the ones that eat McDonald's fries...isnt that nice it's like stale...fries 🤣😂
*Awwwww Wow... This reminds me of the time my brother & I saved a pigeon in the winter that was frozen. We brought it into our basement my brother & I. After awhile I ran to tell my parents they couldn't believe it. My Dad wanted to let it go & I was worried, but it flew. YAY.... 🐦🐦🐦* Sharon in SC
Thank you so much for posting this...husband just informed me he's bringing home two fledgling pigeons tonight from work...their nest was a casualty of having to change an industrial light...
Awww when they learn to feed and drink water themselves and fly strong you can release into a park area with lots of pigeons that get fed by the public 😊
Thank you so much for what you do! I was searching for information and found your site. A week ago, a small baby pigeon fell off from the balcony above me and hit the ledge of my balcony. The lady was trying to kill them; she had succeeded in killing one and luckily this little one jump off but couldn’t fly. After finding out the story, I was greatly upset. I’ve had this little pigeon all week; trying to find out what I do with it. The parents found him and came all week long to feed it. I contacted Salthaven Wildlife but I was told they don’t do pigeon. I decided not to disturb the situation for the time being. It was stretching its wing and flying around on the balcony. I thought ‘great’…it might fly the balcony soon. Sure enough, one night around dinner, it flew on another balcony ledge. Both mom & dad were there with it. A redwing hawk showed up on my balcony ledge…o my I was so worried for the baby…I thought it’s way too young to fly yet. I shoes the hawk off…the pigeon tried to come back but ended up on the balcony above me, again. It was dusk; I ran downstairs to see where it was. O no…it stayed there overnight. In the morning, I was looking for it and when it saw me, it flew back to its perching place. Again, later in the day, it took off and I didn’t see it. I was praying for its protection.Tonight it’s a week since and this afternoon, it came back on my balcony; I’ve hardly got anything done all week…too preoccupied with this little baby… now my question is ‘do you think it will continue to return’? I haven’t fed it since the mom comes at least 3x@day to feed it and the neighbours are complaining. Any advice? Thank you kindly!
Now I know how to feed a fledgling pigeon. Had 1 fell or practice flying and end up on front of my doorstep. And now he's making the same thing when it's hungry. Thank you
Remember to introduce seeds when it starts to wean and when you notice it starting to peck or show interest in things on the floor tap your finger on a dish full of seed this will help it learn to eat on its own soon good luck 😊
When it's fully feathered it will start to flap and excersize its muscles then you will see it hovering In circles takes them a day to flap up high but they still need a good 2 extra weeks to build strength fatten up ready for release with a group of wild pigeons it will be very hard to not get attached aswell for both you and the pigeon minimal handling but only handled for feeding then once full put it back in its carrier or box and ignore it or after feeds should be left alone in a safe room to fly aswell there are many methods to do this and all pigeons are different at different stages in thier growth some are already wild some become very needy by day 1 of feeding usually feeding peas takes 2 days for them to realise your the feeder they learn quickly 😊
@@ThePigeonLady maybe something is wrong with my pigeon because it follows anyone whenever it's hungry. It even follows my cat and scare the day light out of him. 😂
Nothing wrong with him usually the ones that fall from the nest are more needy they usually get pushed out by the stronger chick that takes the majority of the food so are more needy and hungry they will ask anything for food because they are desperate and trying to be fed first also when you have fed them full and they still ask don't forget go dip the beak in water let them learn to drink too they will be thirsty also some like to just be comforted and warmed up aswell
Hello Harley thankyou for taking time to watch my video i usually feed peas and corn 😊 it's easier to feed when weaning then teaching them to peck a large variety of mixed seed and legumes like mung beans, black bean, red bean, soy bean, chick pea, and split peas 😊
I got home from work to find a young pigeon in my garden. kept an eye on it then brought it inside. I put my hand near his beak and pushed it into my fingers like yours in the video. Will get some peas tomorrow. do you keep the peas warm? Read online that they should be a certain temperature. What else can I feed it?
ive found a baby pigeon that fell from a nest onto a road. ive been feeding it for 4 days in a variety of ways..rubber glove with a hole over a bottle seems to work ...but its not eating a huge amount. should i just try numerous times a day or spent one long period of time just forcing it down. its very flappy so i have to hold the bird to feed it.
So everytime the crop is empty feed until the crop seems full and then feed again when empty usually some depending on age the younger the more little feeds through the day they need each day it will get less feeds but be able to hold more food with time don't try to force more food just feed as and when the crop empties hope this helps 😊
Thanks for this, i had one crash land in my workshop this afternoon. It landed right in the corner behind a machine. When i moved the machine out of the way, there he was on the floor with his beak facing right into the corner and not moving a muscle. He was easy to pick up, so I put him in a big box and took him inside. I tried using a plastic pippet to give him some water but he flew out of my hand , landing on the curtain rod. So i let him be for a couple of hours, didn’t want to frighten him any further. I remembered a neighbour who bred pigeons when I was a kid, telling me that pigeons wont fly in the dark. So waited until dark before I caught him again and put him back in the box with some minced meat. Last I checked he was nuzzled in the bed sheet i put in there with him. Hoping to try feeding him tomorrow, but wasn’t sure what, this gives me some ideas. Thanks 😊
He might need a few days with u as he will be slightly concussed and confused some birds hit thier heads so hard that u will see blood coming out the beak, nazel holes, ear holes and sometimes the eyes if u see the way I hold the pigeon u can wrap it in a towel like a burrito so he can't flap the pea method will work with adults just feed about 20ish peas then check the crop below the neck when it's empty feed again also u can pippet water through the creases of the corner off the beak and watch him swollow but also dont feed meat just put water and mixed seed in bowls in his box when he starts eating and drinking on his own and isn't stumbling u can release him keep me updated on his progress I have an Instagram if u need to instant message me 😊
This is very different to how i'm feeding my foundlings, this is the first vid i've seen, i'm feeding mine warm Oat milk and weetabix with sesame seeds in an old washing up liquid bottle, like a feeding bottle works fine and they are just starting to eat sesame seeds soaked in warm water out of a Dish, so i think it's been a good way to introduce them to eating solids on their own as they are very small seeds. Their favourite game to get my attention for food is sitting on my hat and pecking my face.
Yes there are many different feeding methods to try but to inexperienced people finding them I offer the pea method because when people try to feed water/liquid food they accidently aspirate and the bird drowns and dies its very common I get a call to pick up a pigeon when I get there they tell me its died and I find they have accidently killed them 😢
How much and how often? Defrosted ? What about drinking? Im having a fledgling brought to me today as a vet wouldn't take him..how long will i need to keep him before I can release him?
Feed until the crop is full start with 20 peas if you can manage up to 3 to 4 times a day peas need to be cooked then cooled down you can also feed frozen corn the peas and corn have water in them so no need to feed water introduce seed and water in separate bowls when the fledgling is eating on its own and flying really well roughly after 2 weeks you can release to a flock at a nearby park someplace where people will feed sorry I replied late only just saw your message let me know how you get on with it 😊
Thank you for thos video! I found a fledgling pigeon that was sat on the pavement of a busy road. He has some blood from his nose. I've put him in my old hamster cage and hes snuggled up asleep for the night. In a soft blanket eith water and some bird suet Im hoping i can feed him something in the morning. ❤
I love Pigeon always try to help i see it need help or hungry i feed it! got tell off by people don't feed it!, i would like to thank you for coming to my live stream yesterday good to see you, New friend here soobscribe to your channel! hope you have a great Sunday, take care my friend.
I enjoyed your live stream 😊also if people tell u off for feeding any bird its not ilegal your not commiting any crime I usually use my colourful replies for those people 😊 but try to feed discreetly people hate pigeons for no reason 😢
Not seen you around I helped an injured pigeon today that had an injured wing I fed him peas RSPCA came and took it to wildlife hospital got broken wing we think its the cat got it glad you posted the videos about peas not seen you around
I do not trust RSPCA with pigeons they put them down please ask them which wildlife hospital they took it to and then call the wildlife hospital to make sure
@@ThePigeonLady I had a update it was operated on wing is now pinned he needs lots off rest hopefully it can be released next week it was my emergency medicine that saved the wing I said if there can not get any one I'll take it on PDSA are looking after it
@@ThePigeonLady ahaha yeah not at the moment. I've kinda been out of the dating game for a little bit kinda the reason I ended up starting the channel a little over a year ago. Had my heart completely broken but UA-cam has helped me tremendously so maybe one day lol
Mine is just real adamant that it doesn't want to be fed. It doesn't have canker or w/e (no puss in its mouth). I don't think it's eating enough, but it IS eating on its own with the seed in its cage, and drinking water hasn't been a problem. It's been two days so far, so I hope it does well.
All babies are different some learn faster than others somtimes they like to be comfort fed and will ask to be fed even tho they eat but at early stage weaning just try to see how much the crop is full and then feed a little in the morning and at night before bed weight check aswell make sure he/she is gaining/keeping weight on it does take abit of patience but they will get there soon hope this helps 😊
@@ThePigeonLady It's progressively been eating more and more over the three days I've had it now, and drinking water without my having to dip its beak into it. Seems like it's doing OK. I normally feed the local pigeons so currently it's been copying them during their own feeding sessions. I'm just keeping it 'til it can fly upwards on its own properly, cheers for this vid btw. :)
I had one in my garden today, I think it's a young pigeon he's quite big and fluffy. He was walking around eating but other pigeons were attacking it, so I have put it in a box for over night with some seed and water I hope I've done the right thing.
Keep it for a few days but limit handling just feed seed provide water and a place to excersize its wings if its got yellow hairs on it then its still a baby release bk to the flock when it's a little stronger and the yellow hairs have gone and its fully feathered under the wings 😊
I found a baby pigeon yesterday and it’s not eating anything i am trying hard every method but she is sad for her mama. What food is good for her? I am trying puree of mixed beans and rice.
Are they being fed by the parents if no then secure them in a box or cat carrier if you look on Facebook there is many rehabbers willing to take the birds off you
I have a young pigeon who was neck twisting and couldn't manage to peck seeds successfully. Not sure if he has/had PMV or salmonella or something. Could you advise how to get him to eat the seeds he manages to pick up. He does peck furiously but thrashes about and nearly all the seeds don't make it past the end of his beak and they just get flicked away. The best success I've had has been to hold him to me and feed him the seeds from my almost closed hand. He can't flick them away, I can keep his head still and I can see if he has eaten any because there are less seeds in my hand at the end. It takes him ages to get even a small amount of seeds into him doing this and he expends so much energy compared to what he is getting from it. I've been keeping him going by tube feeding Harrison's then popping peas in by hand. He hates it, not as much as the tube feeding, but tolerates it. I didn't know how many would be too many and this is the first place I have gotten an answer, so thank you so much for that! I started him off on 20 peas twice a day then up to 30 twice, but I need to give more as he is still very skinny. Is there anything you could suggest to get him self feeding? Thank you in advance (says Bubby) x
He probably will have pmv if his heads twisting pigeons with this will need atleast a year of hand feeding sometimes he will need vitamins added to help recovery vitamin D I use zocal-D and avi Pro multivitamins, as for seeds a good conditioner mix there are a few methods to use pop seeds in a zippy bag cut a hole in the corner and insert his beak and shovel the food in if you can contact ne on Instagram I can advise you more also pigeons with pmv cannot be released back into the wild it's illegal in some country's but they can live happy lives as a house pet I have had quite a few as long as thier dietary and vitamin needs are met it keeps the pmv at bay as it effects them neurologically sometimes they can't fly aswell but please contact me via Instagram 😊
@@ThePigeonLady Thank you so so so much for the advice and for replying straight away! I don't have Instagram..tried it once and couldn't work out how to use it..not very technically minded that way. Is Facebook any good?
Usually when the chick squeaks for food they usually will let u know when they are hungry but you can feed 3-4times a day sometimes it can be more it depends on the chick but always make sure before you feed that the crop is empty
@@ThePigeonLady thank you so much for your answer. I have a few song birds I saved. And now we found a wounded pigeon. His wound is healed, but I have no idea how much should I feed him. He is about the age the pigeon in your video. Maybe a few days younger. I feed him formula and little bit of fruits. And he seems to be always hungry no matter how much I feed him. So now I know what to check before feeding. Thank you again for you time ❤️🌷
@@ThePigeonLady thank you. And yes, we already bought pigeon seeds mix and I feed him soaked seeds every other feeding so he will get used to the taste. Right now he is ignoring the box with the seeds completely. Should I bath him? Should I buy the mites treatment soap? The song birds bath a lot. He looks well by the way. Running around, loves his mirror and his reflection. Very curious about colored toys in his room.
Don't bath him yet you can buy Robinsons mite spray for caged birds 1 spray under each wing it's really good for mites you dont need to soak the seed just tap the seed in the bowl to show how to peck they are smart and will pick it up 😊
Rice is ok to give for emergency food but not for long term feeding as long as you can feed peas corn seeds the pigeons need food to keep moving through thier digestive tract so it's very important to keep them fed but wait till thier crop empttys before feeding again 😊
You won't hurt them trust me the first time is always stressful to feed your hands will shake but just pry the beak slightly open and gently squeeze they will learn to open thier beak
Try making your fingers alittle damp and then rub around the beak to encourage them to open but if they are too young or stubborn just pry the beak open enough for a pea to fit in and push the pea down then close the beak to allow them to swallow 😊
i found a abandoned little guy that just look like this. Unfortunately I don't know how to cook even basic stuff and my mom is always busy, if i thaw the peas and put them in hot water is it okay anyway? or does it hurt the bird?
Frozen peas can be warmed with boiling water then let them cool down before feeding, feed 10-20 peas everytime the crop has fully emptied also offer seed and water in a small dish to start the weaning process
Hello there. I have a stray pigeon of the same size in the video sitting in my house for almost 3 days. It's totally stopped eating and drinking at all. I've been feeding sparrows and pigeons and other birds for almost 20 years now. I can't watch it die like this, it's so beautiful. I really don't know what to do as when I get close to it, it gets scared and tries to flea. Please please please respond quickly. SOS
Please tell me what to do. I watched some videos and I know I'm gonna have to catch it in order to feed him physically, but I can't go close to it as he gets super scared. It's become so thin and I'm afraid it will die soon. SOS
Try to catch the pigeon and wrap in a towel try and open its mouth look inside if you see any white stuff or anything that looks sore the pigeon may have canker you may need to get medication for this but if there isnt anything inside the mouth try to hand feed and encourage to eat with seed or peas
Don't worry Just keep trying to catch it and it will get tired but try not to stress the bird too much try using towels to throw over the bird or a fishing net if you wait till its dark you can pick it up in a dark room pigeons can't see at night so turn a light on see where the pigeon is turn the light off and pick it up 😊
I found a pigeon that looks like this one and it wont let me hand feed it even though it clearly wants to be fed. Its giving the same reaction as that one
Will need peas makesure it's crop is empty before you feed also if a cat has had it will need antibiotics cat saliva id deadly to birds let me know how u get on 😊
Pigeon laid eggs in a galvanized railing basket which had turtle vine plant in it. and everything was alright until yesterday the basket overturned maybe rain or wind. Tbh, I don't know why the pigeon laid the eggs in it Coz it was really unstable basket. They were badly tangled in the dried vines. I didn't touch them but I removed the vines and used a dust pan to pick them up back in the basket. I am just glad that the basket didn't fall on them it would have crushed them. Now obviously the nest is distributed and moved after this incident. I cleaned my very very small balcony. Now the babies are actually in fledging and they are scared of any kind of human presence. They have lots of yellow hairs and visible black wing bones which don't have fathers in on them yet. It has been more than 24 hours and maybe 2 days, the mother hasn't attended them. Usually on our balcony she'd I will hear their parents and other pigeons flock and flutter. All of a sudden as if all of them have disappeared. I do spot other adult pigeons in other nearby buildings. And I have no idea what to do. Babies are screaming, pushing each other. They are surely hungry. I don't think they will make it Coz they are too much traumatized by the fall.
You can handle the babies when the parents are not looking they don't go by smell so your smell on them won't be noticed just touch their crops and check morning and evening when xhicks get past 1 or 2 weeks the oarents visit kess and less but are nearby it's becuz the babies get too big mum and dad can't sit on them anymore
@@ThePigeonLady @ThePigeonLady thank you. I actually read most comments and your replies to them. One mentioning that they come to feed early morning and late evening. I did notice today later in evening the mother came and fed them. Its actually been more than 3 weeks. I feel there development is slow. Anyways I am glad that their mother came back even though their nest has been bit displaced. Thank you for replying not only me but so many others. I am a mother of a toddler and seeing those babies go through a fall really scared me. Thank you.
Feeding peas and corn can help with some water intake but u can encourage drinking by directing thier beak into water let them swallow a few times they will drink do not leave water with them un attended 😊
did you find this pigeon in the wild and rescue it? was it originally fed via its mother before you found it or was it raised by abreeder and hand fed? bc i am getting a pigeon soon who is 1 month old and it is fed by its mother and thinking of maybe hand feeding a hatchling instead since i do have lots of bird experience and raised baby birds before
This pigeon was found on a industrial chemical site and its parents had been culled so he was starving he's now been released into a nearby park where I feed and check on the flock I've placed there where visitors feed them too if you have alot of time and patience then hand feeding is hard parrot formula can be used but if u hatch from an egg u need to be prepared to feed through a tiny tube and feed ever 30 minutes all day u will lose sleep ive had people messaging me why thier babies died and they need constant feeding I'd stick with the weaned pigeon they will be fine for a first pet pigeon 😊
If you choose the one month old plenty of handling will make them tame and makesure to find a avian vet close to u for emergencys feed conditioner mix seed all year round it kerps them in good condition and feed fine oyster shell grit in a separate bowl they Nedd calcium and vitamin D if they are going to be indoor pets you can also supplement as a plus with johnsons pigeon tonic in the water too it's mixed vitamins I'll try to do a video soon on what I feed my adult birds
@@ThePigeonLady hi i got a dove and i believe she is a ring neck albino dove! She is shy but already becoming close and comfortable with me. Her first day she didn’t really eat but i started cutting small chops of apples, peas, corn, and carrots with a pinch of dried eggshells and only giving the small seeds of the mix and she is now eating alot better, crop full, and has alot more energy :) following you for more information down the road!
Ahh yes I will do a video his name is morten he's got a girlfriend called penut and early morning he likes to shout at me while I'm doing the breakfasts for all the pidges and my cats 😊 morten and penut are still in quaranteen away from the bigger flock they are awaiting blood tests which have been slow cuz of corona but once they have thier last check up I'll integrate them into my flock 😊
So from egg to chick it's 18 days and chick to adult 32 days doesn't take long so at this stage about 10-20 peas or corn mix by the time u fed for another week u can encourage pecking with seeds by tapping a bowl of seed 😊 please let me know what happens with baby pidge 😊
@@ThePigeonLady Thank you! It's a feral grounded pigeon, exactly like in your video, so 30+ days old I thought. So I counted 20-30 peas (plus grains) 3 times a day? Total 60-90 peas per day? I have also made little pea sized balls out of parrot seeds (no hulled sunflower) mixed with crushed linseed, oats and water to form the balls. Im planning to feed 10 balls, 3 times a day, total 30 balls per day. I cant feel the crop very well (Im new to this!) so that's why Im trying to be so specific about the quantities, as I dont want to under/over feed. And can I pour water via syringe freely? Im afraid to drown the baby but YT shows people pouring water down the beak without hesitation. If yes, how many ml?
Last nite I found what I think is a young pidgeon. It was just sitting in the middle of an alley. I got some seed and it's pecking at it but it's not drinking water. This morning it's lying on its side and not standing anymore....but its still pecking at the seed. Not sure if it's even swallowing the seed. It's got all Grey feathers....what's wrong & what can I do...HELP!! Are those cooked peas? This one looks to be the same size as the one u have ....maybe a tad larger.
these are cooked frozen peas feeding them these or frozen corn will help get some fluids into them only feed 30 Peas at first if u feel around the crop near the chest u should feel seed or food inside u can syringe water into it's mouth too just do it little by little if he's eating seed then that's a good sign too sometimes they slump on 1 side when they sleep but encourage movement let them in a safe area to roam
@@ThePigeonLady hey can u pls answer me as soon as possible a fledling just landed at my front porch idk what to do im only 13 its not eating anything and isnt drinking water so im trying to make it eat by force cuz im scared hes gonna starve
@@ThePigeonLady no hes exactly your pigeons age i mean he looks like he can fly but he can oonly go upto about a metre or so high and he isnt eating so idk what to do
I’ve been trying now to open my fledgling’s mouth and I cannot open it and I’ve tried I don’t want to press too hard and hurt it it seems you’re pressing at the very base of its beak near its face but I’ve tried that and it just will not open I’m not quite sure what to do he looks like he wants to sleep he keeps closing his eyes now. It’s evening but he’s not eaten all day when I found him, no poop. I am waiting for a rehab to pick him up but it won’t be for 24 hrs. Any advice? Do I jut let him sleep? Don’t want him to starve. thank you.
If its crop seems full then it might want to sleep only feed if the crop is empty usually pressing alittle hard doesn't hurt them but try and pull down the beak with your finger somtimes they get stubborn if they are scared let it sleep for now try again in the morning try wetting your fingers and gently rubbing the moisture on the beak sometimes it prompts them to squeak and nibble at your fingers sorry for my late reply I just got home from work 😊
I found 3 week old Pigeon 8AM by the front door. I went to the nest but it's sibling was also gone. It was outside until 3PM in a corner. No parents that I could see. Seemed to limp a bit when it tried to walk. there are Cat's around so I bought him in. I have tried to feed it but it simply refuses to open it's beak like every single video I watch. I have tried a jar with latex gloves...nothing. refuses. I just got the Peas and tried that. I can get his beak partially open and get one in and he will eat but it is a struggle. I put him/her outside near the nest in a low branch. nothing. I put him on the edge of the bird bath.....nothing. He jumped down and within a second another Pigeon flew on him and attacked him. I've bought him in now. He's had 30 Peas a few sunflower seeds, sweetcorn and raisins with soya milk in 2 days. what can I do? I made a syringe but I can't get him to open up to get it down.
Hello. I just found a baby pigeon, it looks exactly like yours. I brought it home- too many cats around... will that much food last them the entire day? How often should i feed it, what about water intake. Thank you.
Usually peas hold water and 20-30 peas every time the crop is fully empty u can encourage drinking from a small lid aswell if the baby is similar age to my one start putting seed in aswell mixed bird seed no large sunflowers they can eat them but small safflower wheat mix once the bird is eating and drinking on its own and can fly really well introduce to a flock of pigeons 😊
Hi Pigeon Lady :) I have a question-my fledgling is flighted but looks young in that it isn’t fully feathered..do I feed it peas too? And is there any sound that will help calm them
Hello, can I ask why do you feed the pigeon instead of letting it eat them it’s self. I have just found a pigeon about 3-4 weeks old he is eating seed for the first day today what shall I do next? Would appreciate advice please and how often to feed and shall I try other foods etc
At certain stages pigeons will ask to be fed until they are ready to learn and some even though they are weaned will ask the parents to feed them sometimes its like a comfort from chic to adult it takes 32 days so just over 4 weeks and still some can be late weaning I feed my pigeons mixed conditioner seed this can be fed all year round I feed per adult pigeon 3 times a day over 1 shot glass so breakfast lunch dinner pigeons need to constantly graze to keep thier crop and intestines moving adding calcium like crushed oyster shells will aid in digestion and also adding vitamins d will help them absorb the calcium
If they are eating seed on thier own you don't need to hand feed peas or corn but you can buy the corn and peas pigeon mixed food but I prefer the conditioner mix they prefer the smaller seeds I think
Frozen peas cooked in hot water then cooled alittle feed 20 peas and wait till the crop empties fully then feed again usually the baby will start to learn and squeak for food
@@ThePigeonLady ok, i have started to give 20 -30day old resqued pigion baby 15-20peas per day, and 10ml oat milk(only water and oat)it's 3rd day all look good ...but instead of squeezing for food he stared biting me in anger 😭
Ahh yes they get fiesty when they are close to weaning try offering seed and water on the side pigeons when they peck sometimes it's playful even though it looks angry it may not be they may get annoyed with being handled too much
Rice hasn't got many nutrients in warmed soft peas or corn would be best and also offers hydration also easier to feed by popping 1 in each time remember to feed between 20-30 peas or corn it sounds alot but babies need alot of food to grow hope this helps
Hi please help me with advice I found baby pigeon abandoned he is now with me 7 days I open his mouth and feed him and I open his mouth and give him water because I try to put slightly warm water and pigeon seeds he never try to eat he look like 3 week when I found him How can I teach him to eat by him self ? And he every time I try to tech him for feeding he really scared even now 7 days with me How can I make him pet so I can take care of him well Please advice
Usually not all baby pigeons turn into pets if they are scared of you it's becuz they already imprinted to know who the parents are and will stay wild, feeding or weaning him you just leave seed in a dish and water so they learn and when they are fully eating by themselves you release into a flock in a park not all want to stay as pets only the special ones stay this baby in my video is released into a beautiful park flying free 😊
@@ThePigeonLady oh ok really thank you for replying so for the food I always put some seeds but he never eat or when I touch his crop it’s nearly empty What should I do now please If it’s not gonna be pet should I release him ? I seen him fly he is ready to go out but since I fed him by force is he gonna be okay ?
He still needs help with feeding so when you give seeds in a dish try tapping the seed to encourage sometimes you will get a pigeon that will be slow learner also when you feed make sure they are fed with a light on in a room or in daylight because they can't see in the dark I had a lady say she gave food then turned the light off and the pigeon hadn't touched its food so I explain they are blind at night 😊
Hi just found a young pigeon he was soaked through and cold so Ive put him in our rabbit hutch, he has a good apatite and feeds and drinks by himself but unable to fly at the moment, Im not sure what to do now, Ive been feeding him seeds and suet pellets and gave him so water Please help xcx
Bring him into the house in a box and makesure he's dry before keeping him in a drafty rabbit hutch after a few days of feeding he should regain strength allow him a bathroom to fly in or somewhere its easier to wipe up poop if he's flying strong u can release or if he's still not flying head over to Facebook and look for pigeon rehabbers in your area there are many people who will be willing to pick up the pigeon from you 😊
@@ThePigeonLady many thanks, he is dry now and its not drafty in there but its cold tonight so al bring him in, in a cat carrier, is it ok to keep him in one as we have cats, sry and ill look up pigeon rehabers for sure, many thanks for your reply most appreciated xcx
@@ThePigeonLady braught him in as its cold, in a cat carrier and put him with food and water on top of the wardroab out the way dont want to stress him but he looks well xcx
You can feed water by dipping its beak in water but don't dip the nostrils in also a pipet or syringe is a handy tool I'm in the middle of moving house so I'll try adding some videos about these different methods 😊
@@ThePigeonLady at the Minute im dipping the Beak into a tiny bit of water and sometimes using a syringe but I don’t like using the syringe just incase the pigeon drowns but I do make shore it goes further into the crop so that it will not drown and thank you
Ma'am, I live in India, out of excitement I had touched a chick when the mother wasn't present. Now, I'm not able to find the mother anywhere near the babies? Will it abandon the babies? If so, what am I supposed to feed the babies? Please respond.
Touching baby birds does not affect the parents abandoning them if the nest is safe the parents will come back pigeons sit on a nest until the babies get to a certain size and then they leave the nest with the babies in to search for food they only start feeding the chicks every few hours so u might not see the parents sitting on the nest anymore but they still feed the chicks u can keep checking the crops of the babies usually you will find them full but try to not scare the mother they will be close by watching the nest. If the crops are empty dont take the chicks straight away just keep checking on them you can contact me on Instagram for faster responses if you require more info or more help
If the babies are close the fledgling u might see them on the floor soon the parents feed them on the floor too but usually they can fly alittle and this is where they learn to eat and forage from the parents 😊
I love all animals, but all kinds of birds are my absolute favorite of all. That's precious
I love your turkeys maybe one day I'll get some pet turkeys if I have space 😋
This has been invaluable in feeding a fledgling we found half drowned in the canal. Thanks so much! 😊👍
Thankyou very much I hope the little one is doing well keep me posted and if you need anymore information contact me via Instagram 😊
@@ThePigeonLady that's a really kind offer, thank you. They seem to be doing ok so far, I'm happy to say. 😊
Is that all, just peas?
Corn and mixed seeds but frozen corn and peas warmed then cooled is the easier option until you find a local rehabber

Currently feeding egg and ready-brek based on something we saw on YT earlier.
this is how my mom made me eat vegetables
Lol

Lollll😂
I hated all veg as a kid, I missed out on so much. Now I love all veg and. 😋☘️
Very useful video, I am fostering one pigeon with broken neck and he has difficulties to eat so I feed him by hand the green peas, sunflower seeds, sweetcorns and 20 ml of tropican by 1ml syringe
That's absolutely amazing... I can't believe they eat peas. I can tell you really love your pigeons❤👍

Awww when they learn to feed and drink water themselves and fly strong you can release into a park area with lots of pigeons that get fed by the public 😊

Adorable little bird! Awesome work Pigeon Lady!
@@ThePigeonLady it has this kind of behavior but still hard for it and me. Haha. May I know how long does it take for it to fly?
THIS IS THE GOSH DARN SOUND I’VE BEEN HEARING IN MY BACKYARD FOR 1 WEEK
they love the peas!
Hello Harley thankyou for taking time to watch my video i usually feed peas and corn 😊 it's easier to feed when weaning then teaching them to peck a large variety of mixed seed and legumes like mung beans, black bean, red bean, soy bean, chick pea, and split peas 😊
Wonderful video! What a cute baby with his flappy wings💕
Hello. I want to thank you for a short simple video. I found a baby this size and featherlesss underneath who cannot keep up with his mother.
So cute. I love birds.. I always have them on my window as my visitors.
Thanks 😊
He might need a few days with u as he will be slightly concussed and confused some birds hit thier heads so hard that u will see blood coming out the beak, nazel holes, ear holes and sometimes the eyes if u see the way I hold the pigeon u can wrap it in a towel like a burrito so he can't flap the pea method will work with adults just feed about 20ish peas then check the crop below the neck when it's empty feed again also u can pippet water through the creases of the corner off the beak and watch him swollow but also dont feed meat just put water and mixed seed in bowls in his box when he starts eating and drinking on his own and isn't stumbling u can release him keep me updated on his progress I have an Instagram if u need to instant message me 😊
I found a little guy about the same age as this one and he is a little scared but he is eating so that’s great!
After a day or so they usually learn quickly that your the feeder and will get familiar with you 😊
This means that My Sweet Hope is a Baby Pigeon after all...and I Love Her just the same...
How sweet ❤️🐦 one of God's wonderful gifts .. God Bless and TFS .❤️🦋👍😇

I have two baby pigeons my I ask where you keep them not to sure what to do they are still in the garden

Thank you again for you time ❤️🌷
If he is coming close to weaning try seeds he should be starting to learn to feed on his own soon
Don't bath him yet you can buy Robinsons mite spray for caged birds 1 spray under each wing it's really good for mites you dont need to soak the seed just tap the seed in the bowl to show how to peck they are smart and will pick it up 😊
Can you feed them with cooked rice?
Rice is ok to give for emergency food but not for long term feeding as long as you can feed peas corn seeds the pigeons need food to keep moving through thier digestive tract so it's very important to keep them fed but wait till thier crop empttys before feeding again 😊
How do you make it so easy? We found a baby bird abandoned and we cannot feed him this way because im too afraid of hurting it
You won't hurt them trust me the first time is always stressful to feed your hands will shake but just pry the beak slightly open and gently squeeze they will learn to open thier beak
@@ThePigeonLady thank you. Attempting to doing it again now
@@ThePigeonLady tried again with no luck 🥺 it’s stressed when I try to open its beak
Try making your fingers alittle damp and then rub around the beak to encourage them to open but if they are too young or stubborn just pry the beak open enough for a pea to fit in and push the pea down then close the beak to allow them to swallow 😊
Are those peas and if so do we mush them up?
Frozen peas warmed up and fed whole 😊
i found a abandoned little guy that just look like this.
@@ThePigeonLady I can't catch it, my dad and I tried to catch it. I wish I could send you pics or videos on here. It's so sad

@@ThePigeonLady alright thanks 👍
left u a big like nice birds ❤
Thank you.
Found one yesterday under a bridge, he's a bit younger than this one. Learned to feed him. Do we give them water?
Feeding peas and corn can help with some water intake but u can encourage drinking by directing thier beak into water let them swallow a few times they will drink do not leave water with them un attended 😊
Nice video
Thankyou 😊
cute pigeon
Hey thankyou lanih 😍❤
did you find this pigeon in the wild and rescue it? was it originally fed via its mother before you found it or was it raised by abreeder and hand fed? bc i am getting a pigeon soon who is 1 month old and it is fed by its mother and thinking of maybe hand feeding a hatchling instead since i do have lots of bird experience and raised baby birds before
This pigeon was found on a industrial chemical site and its parents had been culled so he was starving he's now been released into a nearby park where I feed and check on the flock I've placed there where visitors feed them too if you have alot of time and patience then hand feeding is hard parrot formula can be used but if u hatch from an egg u need to be prepared to feed through a tiny tube and feed ever 30 minutes all day u will lose sleep ive had people messaging me why thier babies died and they need constant feeding I'd stick with the weaned pigeon they will be fine for a first pet pigeon 😊

Her first day she didn’t really eat but i started cutting small chops of apples, peas, corn, and carrots with a pinch of dried eggshells and only giving the small seeds of the mix and she is now eating alot better, crop full, and has alot more energy :) following you for more information down the road!
Lovely
Shy and mel here
pls make a update video about this lil peep btw the pigeon that i got about 3 weeks ago can now fly and eat by himself👏
@@ThePigeonLady awesome!

@@ThePigeonLady thanks for information mum just fed them and hour ago was just a bit worried that's all also I noticed that there's food in nest
wow , nice trick to understand
hello again and yes.... another baby pigeon has landed in my backyard and i dont know if hes hungry or not he looks about 23-28 day old baby
So cute!
Brilliant 👏
Hi i have one question how many days is your pigeon?
Between 26-32 at 32 they teen/adults this one at the time wasn't weened quite yet and took another 3 days to ween
Still unsure how much to feed the pigeon of this size? 20-30 peas (plus other seeds and grains) how many times a day??
Roughly 3 to 4 times as soon as the crop is fully empty
@@ThePigeonLady Understood, thank you 🙏🏻
Last nite I found what I think is a young pidgeon.
Does he have feathers under his wings is he still baldy ?

@@ThePigeonLady no hes exactly your pigeons age i mean he looks like he can fly but he can oonly go upto about a metre or so high and he isnt eating so idk what to do
Awe hi birdie 😀
Thanks for your information . sister.thku so much...
Thank you
Hi Pigeon Lady :)
I have a question-my fledgling is flighted but looks young in that it isn’t fully feathered..do I feed it peas too? And is there any sound that will help calm them
I’m playing this rn and my scared pigeon is staring at me 😂
U should start to introducing seed now 😊
@@ThePigeonLady Ok, I am doing that thank you so much💕
so cute!
@@ThePigeonLady thank you and do you think I should introduce peas or sweet corn and if so when just started on seed mix today
If they are eating seed on thier own you don't need to hand feed peas or corn but you can buy the corn and peas pigeon mixed food but I prefer the conditioner mix they prefer the smaller seeds I think
You are doing great
That was interesting, thanks
cute
Not sure if you will see this hope you get your new home 💕
Thankyou got a viewing in a few days 🥰
How often do you feed them?
Everytime the crop fully empties at different ages it's different
Is it boild peas?how much quantity per day?
Frozen peas cooked in hot water then cooled alittle feed 20 peas and wait till the crop empties fully then feed again usually the baby will start to learn and squeak for food
@@ThePigeonLady ok, i have started to give 20 -30day old resqued pigion baby 15-20peas per day, and 10ml oat milk(only water and oat)it's 3rd day all look good ...but instead of squeezing for food he stared biting me in anger 😭
Ahh yes they get fiesty when they are close to weaning try offering seed and water on the side pigeons when they peck sometimes it's playful even though it looks angry it may not be they may get annoyed with being handled too much
Can we give rice to eat it
Rice hasn't got many nutrients in warmed soft peas or corn would be best and also offers hydration also easier to feed by popping 1 in each time remember to feed between 20-30 peas or corn it sounds alot but babies need alot of food to grow hope this helps
Hi please help me with advice I found baby pigeon abandoned he is now with me 7 days I open his mouth and feed him and I open his mouth and give him water because I try to put slightly warm water and pigeon seeds he never try to eat he look like 3 week when I found him
How can I teach him to eat by him self ?
And he every time I try to tech him for feeding he really scared even now 7 days with me
How can I make him pet so I can take care of him well
Please advice
Usually not all baby pigeons turn into pets if they are scared of you it's becuz they already imprinted to know who the parents are and will stay wild, feeding or weaning him you just leave seed in a dish and water so they learn and when they are fully eating by themselves you release into a flock in a park not all want to stay as pets only the special ones stay this baby in my video is released into a beautiful park flying free 😊
@@ThePigeonLady oh ok really thank you for replying so for the food I always put some seeds but he never eat or when I touch his crop it’s nearly empty
What should I do now please
If it’s not gonna be pet should I release him ? I seen him fly he is ready to go out but since I fed him by force is he gonna be okay ?
He still needs help with feeding so when you give seeds in a dish try tapping the seed to encourage sometimes you will get a pigeon that will be slow learner also when you feed make sure they are fed with a light on in a room or in daylight because they can't see in the dark I had a lady say she gave food then turned the light off and the pigeon hadn't touched its food so I explain they are blind at night 😊
@@ThePigeonLady can I give her normal house temperature water or should I warm the water I used to warm the water bit ?
Doesn't have to be warm water normal cool tap water is fine after 3-4weeks
Cat carrier is fine I keep mine with cats also as long as they are kept separate in a temporary situation it's all good 😊
@@ThePigeonLady Many thanks will keep you updated xcx
I am your new friend
Nice 👍👍
Why do you put the peas in water ?
They were frozen and then cooked in the water also helps hydrate the bird without accidentle aspirating (drowning)
@@ThePigeonLady thank you for letting me know this and for replying and I was scared of the pigeon drowning but know I don’t have to worry
@@ThePigeonLady thank you ma'am, the pigeon came today, but she's not sitting on the babies anymore is it normal?
Yes that's normal usually the babies get to big so no room for the parents to sit 😊
@@ThePigeonLady thank you ma'am. 🙏
If the babies are close the fledgling u might see them on the floor soon the parents feed them on the floor too but usually they can fly alittle and this is where they learn to eat and forage from the parents 😊
pls do a part twooooo
Major is so sorry
I'll forgive u 😋
I did the same thing with our pigeon
Awww ☺️
