My vet told me never give egg to a sparrow which would destroy their digestive system. You can give good quality of kitten cat kibble . you boil water and let it warm and put some kitten kibble with chicken and wait till the kibbles got soft and observe water . You can feed the baby sparrow with it which I’m doing it now. I use tweezers and cut the kibble in 2 or 3 pieces and gently give one by one to the baby. I also mix it with the boiled drinking water ( to have a sterilized water) and givi it with a injection ( take of the needle ofcourse) . So that gives the bird water and the minerals she needs. I feed them in every 2 hours , sometimes even in 1 hour they get hungry. I don’t sleep however worth it for their lives. The other important thing is to make them feel that they are in their nest. And be aware of their body temperature. I don’t use hot water bag because I’m scared if I can’t control the heat. So I use stones which I warm them in the owen. And I replace them at the corners of their box. And make sure they have an organic box with air holes. After I feed then I slightly cover them and they feel at home and sleep. I check the heat in the box to make sure they are ok. And also I put soft toilet paper pieces where they sleep , it’s easy to collect when they poop. They poop when the mother is there because in nature, mother collects it when they are pooping. Very strange. You can find videos of it. So I try my best to do it in their own nature. This is my first experience and I wanted to share it with you. They are 7 days old. I hope all the best to you all
Hard boiled eggs are good for any baby bird! As long as it's moistened and easy to digest. It contains a lot of protein and my baby seems to me doing fine with his homemade cocktail!
Yes I agree. There’s also breeds of birds that don’t get regurgitated food from hatch either. The mum and dad bring back small insects for them. I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving them formula tbh

Mother knows best what to feed her babies and keep the nest clean by eating off baby 💩. They feed their babies with insects, grasshoppers, grapes, berries, etc. I don't know how they do it, but it's a treat to watch how bird parents raise their chicks with utmost care until they are able to fly as good as the parents. Surely birds have evolved a long way to be able to prove that they are the most responsible parents in nature, besides majority humans.

Same thing brought me here as well. Here in Hawaii the wind gusts have been very strong, found a baby Zebra Dove in my local park on the grass. I constructed a nest for it out of all the twigs in the area.
I found a baby bird 3 days ago and had no idea that was a crop thought some5ing was wrong with the throat actually until I watched this …so helpful this video . Still not sure what to do with the bird but I’m learning fast
Great video, but toothpicks or anything sharp and hard could end up perforating the crop and or esophagus. Super important you use something soft and not sharp, like a syringe with an attachment for a very young small bird.
I've been looking for easy formula & caring methods for a bit, this is the best one. I don't even know if ill need it but I wanted to be ready. I have a bird that has nested in my roof. It in a position that I can't even see the nest, but some heavy wind blew an egg out & it rolled down & landed in front of my porch. I don't want to try to put it back because the mom could reject them all, & I couldn't see/reach the nest even if I wanted to... there are no cracks or visible damage to the egg, so I'm hopeful it survived the fall. I figured it wouldn't hurt anything to try to save it. I put a heating pad in a empty fish tank & used the bottom of a Pokémon ball & a sock for the nest... I hope that will suffice. Thank you for your video. ❤
I just found 4 finch in my backyard. There a few weeks older then this little guy have, I think lol. I just gave them some earthworms now, I cut them up small. Hoping that’s ok. Gonna try this method next, thanks!
Great instructions! I wanted to share a word of caution about overfeeding, from lived experience. Babies will let you know when theyre full, but that doesnt mean you can't overfeed them. The difference between normal feeding and lethal overfeeding can be less than a teaspoon. Very hungry newborns (ex. rescues) eat quickly and vigorously, and their satiety won't kick in until it's too late. Then they'll tell you to stop, but shortly after that, they will die in bloated agony within a few hours. How much to feed is as critical as how to feed and what to feed. Save those babies!
I have a question. I love your channel I studied yours and others and I hand commercial formula left from my cockatiels. I hand-fed snd raised my 2 baby cockatiels from 2 weeks old up . We rescued a newborn baby maybe 2 days old that was either ejected from a nest or fell from a nest . I even was in contact with a lady I met on Tik Tok that rescues wild birds . I only had a little commercial food left so yesterday afternoon I ground up really fine oats and mixed the dry oats with the rest of my dry commercial formula. . I ordered more formula from Amazon and was waiting on it . The bird seemed to do just fine with the mixture . I had Frances Hope in a bed lined with fleece blanket on a cardboard box and the box inside of a big clear plastic box with a heating pad on low . I checked it frequently. I gave her the last feeding at 2 am this morning . I had to sleep , I checked on her at 4 am she was very dead . I’m praying it’s nothing I did , I’m praying it wasn’t the oatmeal . I made sure the consistency was right . I’m not sure if she was sick and maybe I didn’t know or if the fall injured her or what . But oatmeal is sticky and drying and I had the consistency right , I just pray it wasn’t the oats I mixed in the formula. My husband went out to bury it , I just couldn’t. All lives are so valuable, and I believe God wants us to be kind to helpless creatures . The bird was going to the bathroom a whole lot , this morning when I found it dead there was no bowel movement. When you rescue a wild baby it’s around the clock care and feedings , so much responsibility and work . If you think the oatmeal killed it then maybe my story will help . I didn’t overfeed it either .
Thank you for this. My kitty bought home 2 baby birds yday with the intention of eating them. Unfortunately one was already dead and the other one I quickly picked up before she could attack. No idea where she got it from so I have no idea where to put it to reunite it with its family. I looked online everywhere and yesterday I soaked some kitten biscuits in warm water until they were soft and fed that throughout the day. Then later I added some banana to it too. Today I've made scrambled eggs. He seems to be doing really well thankfully. Crop is full. I think it's a baby garden Robin as it's veryy tiny. He's quite playful too. Always jumping out of his box and running towards me and climbing on me ton snugglen
Hey I like your video.bcz I hv a baby bird which fell down his or her nest..but I don't know how to feed this baby bird ...plz tell me how many times to feed in whole day and how much quantity I give ..plz....tell me...I'm waiting
I used chopsticks. Lol. They sort of mimic the birds beak when you have to readjust your grip on the food, which in turn softens it. It also Mimics how birds can’t so easily chop things up or manoeuvre as finely as we do. Maybe they think I’m a bird. I found insects btw. Worms, berries, stuff they’d eat normally plus yoghurt and a few random things because they eat anything. I used a syringe for water if I couldn’t find wet clumps of roots to wring, a dewy leaf, etc.
Thank you, very helpful advice for feeding mashed banana, corn meal and seeds to 2 baby birds in a nest, under the rain... Not easy, but necessary! . I'm using a syringe, but I'll try a small wooden spoon... I'm even getting the worms I was advised to get for them... And I'm 100% plant-based! So let's do it all with love for the birds!! 4:25 What? The parents had stuffed Pepper? So why feed him again, why out of the nest? Did I miss something? Thank you!

GREAT video! I am feeding a baby sparrow. He is eating the mix you suggest and chirping and pooping. How long until he is ready to go off on his own? Hw will he know what to do since his parents didn't teach him?
I just found two baby birds at my backyard the nest fell and the mother is dead and I don't know how to raise them. Thank you for the video And this is very helpful 😁❤
Thank you god bless you. My cat brought two baby birds in her mouth last night and dropped them off on my porch! Made the egg and oatmeal mush and it is eating it and pooping regularly. One of the birds unfortunately died this morning. I thought it would as since it came it looked like it was having a hard time breathing. It’s sibling is chirping and eating and pooping. Keeping it warm till hopefully it can go out on its own.
it will take a decently long time in order to wean (this is what the stage during when they transition from mushy foods to solid foods is called) and it is a tricky process. it'll be very difficult for you to properly go through with this and the baby is in much better hands with a wildlife rehabber. please take it to the wildlife rehab center closest to you and they will take it in and other than just feeding it, they will also teach it to fly and make sure it is safely returned to its natural habitat. for now, just make sure to keep it on some sort of grippy surface like a towel so the fragile legs don't dislocate and lead to a condition known as splay legs. thank you so much for taking the babies in and doing all that you can do, unfortunately most times at least one baby of the clutch, usually the youngest, doesn't make it.
Two birds fell out of nest at my home. I made a nest for them and put them back by the tree but the mother did not come back. They seem bigger the pepper and seem like they will fly soon. I've been feeding them every 6 hours so just wondering how much longer they usually stay in near before they go off on their own?
a baby bird fell off it's nest, few days old and I decided to keep and take care of it till it can fly on its own, i took on yt to find what to feed baby birds, , then i found your post.. my questions are how many times do I need to feed it and when it grows a little bigger ( hopefully) do I need to change what to feed it or should I continue the same?? some worms or small insects maybe ? and if I need to change the food, when will I know it's time to change it??
I used Rolled Oats and Dried Mealworms crushed and mixed with a little Spring water. Put it on a plate out by the clothesline pole under the windchime and wind sock👍🏼Robins learn not to be afraid of the movement. Everything else scatters. But They Dont share the plate very well
I usually use baby porridge without milk or sugar. It consists of wheat, rice and buckwheat very finely grated. But i read that you still need some sort of enzymes to help them with digestion...
Thank you very much for sharing this video! I have a 16-day old baby Zebra Finch. The mother stopped feeding it or incubating after 13 days so I was forced to take care of it and hand-feed. However, it seems to be swallowing A LOR of air through the day and I don't know if there is anything wrong with it. Sometimes it creates what looks like foam in the top part of its crop... Am I doing anything wrong? Should I try your homemade formula? Thanks 😊
We took in two abandoned injured baby cedar waxwing fledglings. The last 24hrs we have been feeding them my cockatiels pellets. We have been crushing them into power and adding water. I ordered some parrot baby formula to feed them. Should I go with this instead?!
I found a baby bird that got kicked out of her nest- I tried giving her back but the mum won't let me so now I'm trying to keep her alive long enough to actually convince my parents the get her real bird food
We had a really tough time using this formula because we didn't know how warm to keep the baby. It should really be more emphasized how perfect the mix has to be because the bird rescue place said that is probably what killed the bird, that it hardened up in its gullet during the night. He was a really new nestling and very very weak.
I emphasized moultiple times that the mix has to be " not to thick or two thin " its not easy to get a good mix, but you have to play with it if to thick add water if to thin add more oats or egg. Im sorry for your loss but to be honest its very unprofesional for the rescue place to say that the formula may have killed the bird without considering other factors like for example (the temp tge bird was kept at) No matter what you feed a new nestling if they are not kept at the right temp they will die mainly because they are not warm enough to process and digest the food. So if anything I would say theres a higher probability that bird died because it was not kept at an adequate temperature. Again sorry for your loss .
@@paradiseaviary You know what, I feel the same way. I felt so bad when the guy told us this, like we killed the bird instead of "hey, thanks for trying to keep it alive," etc. Real bummer. We were so ignorant about the whole thing. We assumed that because it was really hot here (Budapest - in a heat wave) a warm bottle of water and a fleece was enough, but I think in the end he was just too weakened by the morning, and my guess is that you are right - that it was more the temperature than simply the food hardening up. I mean, I really kept it moist, and he was taking it all day long. It was only in the morning that he seemed not to want to eat it, or too weak to do so. In any case, we learned a lot!
I just rescued one the same age as yours. Can you please tell me how old yours is. Wanting to have an idea of what to feed him in stages. He is doing really well on what I am giving him now. I had a rehaber tell me something to feed him. Do I need to feed through the night at this age? I have been seeing feedevery two hours stop at 9pm start again at 7 am. I also have him in a horse water bucket with hay to hide hanging outside as it is very warm. It is supposed to get to 69 degrees tonight don’t want him to get cold. Should I bring him in and keep a heating pad under him? If anyone can answer my questions please do and thank you.

Hi.. yesterday I rescued the bulbul bird from street dogs, maybe it is 10days old (eyes are opend). I don't have any idea about birds feeding. But yesterday I fed some (Wheat apple flavour) cerelac. Today I fed some fruits like ( Ivy gourd, apple and grapes) But bird poop looks like some watery and looks like fruit colour what I fed. Is there something wrong with my feeding? Is that loose motions or normal motions? Please let me know. I'm worried 😟 I'm feeding every hour once. Not at all over feeding. Because it's opening the mouth only twice.. each and every time 🤷

How did it go?
Did it die?
Please tell what is that I have a baby bird I can't understand what products he mixed
I just found an abandoned nest with 2 baby robins this video saved a life thank you so much
I’m currently helping a baby grey catbird. I’ve been feeding it banana blueberry organic baby food. It has some feather growth so it’s not tini tiny.
iwas searching how to make a bird formula at home and this just saved a life
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you for the hand feeding formula recipe. I found a tailor baby bird and this will help me a lot ❤️
this video took me to the next level of feeding baby birds
This helps so much. I found two baby birds that fell out of the nest. Thank you.
Glad it helps 🙂 good luck with the new babies

Thank you!!!!! I was thinking it would he something complicated but u made it soooo easy! Thank you!
Thank u so much! So far this has worked perfectly! Now the next question is how many times a day do I feed it.
What the product is that😢
Great video, but toothpicks or anything sharp and hard could end up perforating the crop and or esophagus.
The mother bird would not reject the eggs, that is just something people say.
@@paulabrown5243 my grandmas bird used to push the eggs out if you touched them though.
I just found 4 finch in my backyard. There a few weeks older then this little guy have, I think lol. I just gave them some earthworms now, I cut them up small. Hoping that’s ok. Gonna try this method next, thanks!
The right tool to feed seems critical. I have a small syringe and its a bit touchy. Needs s little finesse 🐥
Awesome idea!
Ohhh noooo ….. I’m so sorry 😢
Thanks man, I tend to find a lot of baby birds, nobody else seems to bother helping them here :(
Thank you for your tips...I saved a little one and now she is ready to fly
hi, is this okay for all baby birds? i’ve got a pigeon egg and i need to hand feed him as a hatchling and i’m aware they normally eat crop milk
Straight to the point and VERY informative! Thank you so much for this!
hi! I just saw you earlier in the comment I just wanted to ask if it's normal when a baby bird's neck grows fat? Im scared what if it explode lol 😔
How was he straight to the point? Wasted a lot of time at the start
Bro i just found a bird and he is running ob road and came to my hands so i bring him at home and now he nit not opening his mouth 😢
I found a abandoned baby birds this morning. And I saved it so I will try your formula today
Did it work?
Thanks so much for this information! Question: could I use corn grits, basically ground hominy, instead of corn meal?
thank you for this. I had to buy warms yesterday for a rescue.
Awesome !!! Helped a LOT ! Thank you :)
Thank you so much saved my conures 10 day old chicks 🙏💙
I also found a fledgling today and stumbled across this video while searching how and what to feed him ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I used chopsticks.
Thank you!
@Paradise Aviary could you do a video on how to hydrate a nestling and a fledgling? my fledging just passed away and Im trying to think of things I couldve done better.
Found an indian pied mayna today in park n brought her home as couldnt place it in the nest as it was too high. Fee her boiled rice paste n boiled egg, so far she is fine n will prepare the oatmeal feed…hope she survives n rejoins her clan, soon!!!
This is saving a life today, my grandma found a baby bird that fell and lucky landed on a mattress, despite them telling me that it WILL die im still determined to save it!
Thank you so much for making this video, I found 2 baby birds in my backyard and they seem to have fallen from their nest. I tried to return them to their parents but I can't find the nest. So now I have taken the responsibility to feed them and I will be using this formula. Thank you so much!
Such a lifesaver video help me out so much thxxxx
I found this baby bird and I didn't know what to feed it so...thankyou
GREAT video! I am feeding a baby sparrow. He is eating the mix you suggest and chirping and pooping. How long until he is ready to go off on his own? Hw will he know what to do since his parents didn't teach him?
Thank You soooooo much. This is going to be a life savor .
I just found two baby birds at my backyard the nest fell and the mother is dead and I don't know how to raise them.
Thank you for the video
And this is very helpful 😁❤
This was so awesome to see!!
Very helpful as we get many baby birds that have fallen from thé nest in the Caribbean.
Great video, extremely informative
Thank you Deb, by the way next weeks video will be an aviary release on the birds you gave me 😁
ALLAH BLESS YOU 🎉
Thank you god bless you.
Does this food work on any baby bird?
Same question
Same for me🤔
No if it an insectivor he's going to eat insect
Two birds fell out of nest at my home. I made a nest for them and put them back by the tree but the mother did not come back. They seem bigger the pepper and seem like they will fly soon. I've been feeding them every 6 hours so just wondering how much longer they usually stay in near before they go off on their own?
are they still with u?
please tell me
Thank you, your channel is great and I really benefited❤❤
Useful content as always!
Thank you my friend
a baby bird fell off it's nest, few days old and I decided to keep and take care of it till it can fly on its own, i took on yt to find what to feed baby birds, , then i found your post.. my questions are how many times do I need to feed it and when it grows a little bigger ( hopefully) do I need to change what to feed it or should I continue the same?? some worms or small insects maybe ? and if I need to change the food, when will I know it's time to change it??
I used Rolled Oats and Dried Mealworms crushed and mixed with a little Spring water. Put it on a plate out by the clothesline pole under the windchime and wind sock👍🏼Robins learn not to be afraid of the movement. Everything else scatters. But They Dont share the plate very well
Awesome, the formula is short here in local shops
You put his cousin egg on it???😮😮😮
😂😂😂
As you can see😂
I usually use baby porridge without milk or sugar.
Interesting. What do you use? Petco has powder food. I do not think it's organic.
Question, for how long can we use the same food (the formula of egg and oatmeal) before i have to make new one?
just once.
Can rice be an alternative to the oats?
Is this good for vermivores too? Or just seed-eaters?
Thank you
Very helpful and straight to the point
Thankyou
Ty for this in the morning i will try to do it but before this video we feeded bird with wet and smooshed dog food hope this is gonna be better
I found a baby bird that got kicked out of her nest- I tried giving her back but the mum won't let me so now I'm trying to keep her alive long enough to actually convince my parents the get her real bird food
Your video is very helpful! I had a question: could I use an egg incubator to keep a baby bird warm?
yes u can
Heating pad on low under their bed
@2:00 Oatmeal cornmeal boil egg make paste
Did make a new batch often and add water and heat it up every time you brought it out?
Hi there! That was a very informative video. Is this formula alright for baby pigeons too?
Thanks.
What about for an even younger bird ? (Days old)
found 3 baby birds on the ground. they survived. i have them in a box with a shirt. this was clutch timing 👑👑
Can we use the regular oats that are provided in market for humans and then grind then to make thinner
Is the oatmeal cooked. What kind of oatmeal is it. Rolled oats or the quick cooking type.
This was very helpful.
I just found a baby eagle. Thanks for the info
holy crap...
i raised a fledgling robin, after it learned to fly, it would leave, and come back to me everyday....
i couldnt imagine a 9 lbs frickin eagle coming back to perch on my arm..
*_nuts_*
Hi.. yesterday I rescued the bulbul bird from street dogs, maybe it is 10days old (eyes are opend).
I don't have any idea about birds feeding. But yesterday I fed some (Wheat apple flavour) cerelac.
Today I fed some fruits like ( Ivy gourd, apple and grapes)
But bird poop looks like some watery and looks like fruit colour what I fed. Is there something wrong with my feeding? Is that loose motions or normal motions? Please let me know. I'm worried 😟
I'm feeding every hour once.
Not at all over feeding. Because it's opening the mouth only twice.. each and every time 🤷
Thank you for this i was able to save a baby bird
Thats awesome 😁 your welcome
Very helpful video. Thank you so much
Hey i have same age baby bird that's you have. Than how many times in a day i feed it. And how much quantity take.
Is this formula good for zebra finches ?
When the eggs hatch do i leave a light on (IN the cage) so that momma bird can feed the babies regularly during the night ???
Should I grind all together in grinder for paste !! To giving a zebra finch birds
