- Patrick Bartley talks to Alphonso Horne about the importance of Wynton Marsalis’s mentorship in his career in an episode of ‘Jazzed About It’.
Still in his 20s, Patrick Bartley has been acclaimed for both a sweeping command of the jazz repertoire and the ability to electrify audiences on either saxophone or clarinet. After graduating from The Manhattan School of Music, the Florida native stayed on in New York, where he quickly became in demand for playing in genres from jazz and blues to rock. He has been featured with Jon Batiste on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, played with Wynton Marsalis at Jazz at Lincoln Center and in Rock and Rock Hall of Famer Steve Miller's annual blues concerts.
In addition, he has written and produced tributes to jazz legends such as John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderly, presented at major jazz venues and festivals.

Never heard of him until this morning. Incredible player (I heard his solo on "after you've gone"). This guy definitely immersed himself with the old style classic players; Coleman Hawkins, Charlie Parker, and I especially hear a lot of Sidney Bechet in his tone! He gets ten stars out of ten! Side note: His Mom is beautiful!!!!
That solo is becoming legendary, young cats like these have the power to capture new generations’ imaginations
