    • @NoktynGaming

Ben Affleck is actually smart, Michael Bay makes movies for teenagers and doesn't attempt to make "smart movies". Like Affleck isn't going to have anything to say about that given the chance. I love his recount of the exchange with Bay, so characteristic of both of them.

    • @samguy7654

Nokty I'm a teenager and that offends me lol.. I don't watch that much Michael bay... he has one or two decent movies though..
And I'm not sure there's something called "smart movies", maybe thought provoking movies fits better.. anyway I agree "stfu" pretty much sums up Bay.

+Sam guy -- So I know I'm responding to a ten-month-old comment, and who knows if you're even a teenager anymore. But for the record, their comment wasn't aimed against teenagers. It was paraphrasing something Michael Bay actually said. When someone criticized his movies for lack of substance, he responded something to the effect of: "I make movies for teenage boys. What a crime."

CinemaSins makes shit content and blames all their mistakes and misrepresentations on "jk lol."
Lots of movie "critics" on UA-cam make mistakes.
I prefer Chris Stuckmann because he's down-to-earth and is just a really genuine guy. The stuff he nitpicks is 99% real (I found one glaring mistake he made, but that's all I remember) and he enjoys movies and doesn't pump out half-assed videos just to capitalize on internet traffic/search algorithms.
If you have some time to spare, I strongly suggest watching this video: ua-cam.com/video/ELEAsGoP-5I/v-deo.html

Seth wasn't saying plagiarism is as bad as murder. He was saying that calling him a plagiarist is a personal attack. And the murder in question was of a cartoon character, not a real person. Calling someone a plagiarist is more serious than killing an imaginary person who doesn't really die, and will be just fine the next week having no memory the murder even happened because, you know cartoons aren't people.

Stupid typing. Almost killed that Family Guy joke. They actually did that? ROFL. Look, to quote Homer Simpson, "it's funny 'cos I don't know 'em." Or rather, it's funny because it's a goddamn cartoon character. The little Fox banner becomes an excuse for Quagmire to try to sexually assault Marge. Then he kills Homer. It's funny because it's violent and crass and completely unexpected. It's funny because there are no consequences. It's cartoon violence in a cartoon world.

Then you remember that stealth wouldn't prevent a spy from hanging out on the flight path of where the bombers take off and report on their comings and goings. Stealth makes a plane mostly invisible on radar, it doesn't render it invisible to the human eye.

It's been a while since I've watched it, but at the time it seemed like nepotism. Bruce Willis was the one that knew how to operate the drill, and he wanted his team with him to do the job. So, why did NASA agree to this? Well, you don't get years worth of teamwork and experience with a drill in a couple weeks. Simple as that. Sure, they could have done it with all astronauts, but they wanted the people with the most experience using the drill.

    • @highdough2712
      @highdough2712 7 років тому +18

Blood Angel Well, first of all, I'm pretty sure nepotism isn't the word you want to use. Secondly, it still makes no sense. Being an astronaut is MUCH more difficult than being a driller.

    • @S2Tubes
      @S2Tubes 7 років тому +3

      nepotism
      ˈnɛpətɪz(ə)m/
      noun
      noun: nepotism
the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.
That's exactly the word I wanted to use.
As for astronauts having a difficult job, and requiring a college degree, to join NASA, sure. It does not require a degree, nor is it especially difficult, to get taxied into space by qualified astronauts.
If you think your average astronaut could just walk onto an oil rig, be part of the team, and work effectively in that team with a few weeks training, you are wrong.

The worst commentary track I ever heard was for Guy Ritchie's Snatch. They apparently get a break every 15 minutes - of a two hour movie, because it's so arduous... and instead of sitting down and pretending to pick up right where they left off, they announce that they've just returned, and they've got sandwiches and shit. It's all "Hi guys we're back - even though as far as you're concerned we never left, and we've already told you this twenty times" followed by the sound of chewing into a ham and cheese.

The localisation director's commentary for Pokemon 3: The Movie is brilliant. He keeps pointing out flaws, like at the end when the girl's mother comes home, which isn't set up in the English language version, so the director's just like "So, this is the mom, and her being missing wasn't explained in the English version, so it seems here that the dad just brings some broad home and is like 'This is your mom now, kid'."

It doesn't sound petty to me, it sounds reasonable. Seth decided to poke at the Simpsons using a character that regularly rapes women, so it's not like it's some new bit created just to attack the Simpsons. Meanwhile they took a very personal jab at him as a content creator, and he responded by having an animation of one of their main characters being raped and then calling him back for more afterwords.
It's a fucking joke, and he was reasonably outraged that his joke couldn't be used and theirs could. The Simpsons makes more money internationally and through products, but Family Guy has been getting better ratings for years. It doesn't make sense for Fox to play favorites like they did, and I personally thought the bit was hysterical.

The explanation for this "joke" is one of the dumbest things i've ever heard. Way dumber than the actual so called "joke". I guess I'll have to chock up the good earlier seasons of FG to the writers cause clearly Seth's humour is more consistent with later FG seasons which are basically brain-dead stoner babysitters.

On the Seth bitching about the simpsons joke, it's about knowing your audience. It's likely many who watch Family Guy also watch the Simpsons, and to them a jab like plagiarism is not the same as raping and killing iconic characters because you're pissy about it. In the end, the joke went through and what did it accomplish? Hearing a commentary track of the creator pissing and moaning about being called a plagiarist. Hypocrisy at its best from Seth.

You could tell that he was trying to skip out anyway, I'm pretty sure he wouldve done the same thing to anyone else in that situation. This guy just happened to be a dwarf.

There was a commentary by Director Ang Lee and Co-producer James Schamus which is one of my favourite commentaries, because at the end of the film when the happy ending was going on they ended up talking about how the Horse at the end of the scene died like two days later.
Also, Seth Mc Farlane is a gross man.

Tbh, i'd rather someone make a joke about me being raped over someone calling my work unoriginal/stolen ideas. Using the "too personal" excuse was pretty shitty imo. If they didn't want rape jokes on their channel, fair enough, but don't make it about "being too personal."

It reads like MacFarlane had Trump levels of thin skin there. "Grr how dare they point out similarities between two shows about bumbling dads! I'll rape a beloved mother character and shoot a bunch of children! That'll show them."

Trollovon Flidder but how will you ever improve your rape jokes if you ignore criticism?
I think the main reason it got pulled for being 'personal' is that you can sort of justify the simpson's plagiarism joke (not saying its valid). You can argue it makes some sort of commentary on some sort of subject.
The rape joke is just a depiction of rape and murder. In direct response to the simpson's joke. Seth Mcfarlane obviously has issues with the creative team at the simpsons (the full clip has him blasting max brooks by name i think) and i think fox was just like, 'ok, this shit is gonna stop. Cash cows fighting spoils the milk'

About the family guy thing, what they also mentioned in the commentary, that Matt Groening actually liked that joke. And you guy left the part out where Marge states that she actually liked it and started an affair with Quagmire, which ended with the shooting then. And yes, I think Seth is in the right to call fox out. Like they do these jokes all the time, but sudenly its a no go when they are doing it with the simpsons? And again, Matt himself would have been totally okay with it.

These are all from well known movies, but there are some commentaries that are even worse. I had one on laserdisc for Fallen where the producer was sitting between the writer and director, literally, because they hated each other and got into a fight on microphone. I think it was Jack O where the participants, one being Fred Olen Ray, get into a huge fight, and one locks the other out of the room and you can hear the other person trying to kick the door in. The Limey also has a pretty good fight.

Reagan made his political debut in 1964 became governor of California from 1967-1975 and had military experience. AND THEN he became president after accumulating governing experience.
By that point you can't call him a movie star or an actor that just stumbled or was raised into presidency.
That's like if you went to college, got a finance degree, became an analyst and then got promoted to Fund Manager, and then someone calls you a lucky McDonald's employee because that was the job you had before attending college.

ImperialWarhawk123ABC he is saying that Reagan got elected because of his stardom, not because of his experience and it's true, but it's also the same reason why every other president got elected. It's why candidates have advertisement campaigns and it's why Trump won over Hilary, I believe.

    • @theoreticallyinsane5

To be fair, Reagan's experience as a Hollywood Democrat during the McCarthy trials and his speeches about challenging communism through true democracy instead of using unabated federalism in the name of patriotism gained him a massive amount of respect after the 50's. I'd even argue that his popularity as an actor was even more important than his time as governor towards earning his presidency (Of course, the experience likely made him a significantly better president than if he had not). After Nixon and Watergate, people flat out didn't trust politician's anymore, so seeing someone they trusted that spoke out even when it was considered unpatriotic was a massive boon.

Reagan's military experience was all stateside and almost exclusively involved public relations. He was in effect Captain America if Captain America had done nothing but publicize war bonds. In 1983, Reagan claimed he'd personally been at liberation of nazi concentration camps with the Film Corps, which was either a lie or a symptom of his dementia.
