- FIRST LOOK: The MDX Type S is getting BIG changes for 2025 from Acura. On the outside you will see an all new front fascia, grill, wheels and paint color. On the inside there is an all new 12.3in touch screen infotainment system and new premium sound system. Under the hood is a 3.0L turbocharged V6 that pumps out 355HP & is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2025 Acura MDX Type S the BEST new performance SUV?

Thanks brother Joe for bringing that 🔥 once again! I've owned three Acuras, two sedans and 1 MDX and every last one of them has gotten well over 300,000 mi on them! Not putting down bmw, Audi or Mercedes-Benz, but none of them will Outlast an Acura!
My parents have the 2023 MDX Advance which we love and Honda reliability def swayed us towards choosing it over other cars
I've owned plenty of Acuras and Hondas. Best balance of reliability, style and luxury in the business.
@@symungous agreed fully, that’s why my parents own a 2023 MDX and owned a 2009, my dad would seriously consider a new RLX if it came back but since that won’t happen his next car will probs be a Porsche
@CarGeek360 the RL/RLX was such an underrated vehicle and was usually the testing ground for new tech. My guess is they might attempt to resurrect the flagship sedan as a high end electric competitor to the Lexus LS/ S-Class Benz/ Telsa Model S down the road (if ever). Here's hoping. Cheers 🍻.
@@symungous Acura should bring back the RLX and give it the interior of the new MDX, I would love that, also I’m well aware of the electric flagship coming out but I feel like charging/range anxiety would be a hassle and it’s probs not going to come out for a few years, I’m sure it’ll be a fantastic vehicle however

Bought a 23 Type S with 4k km on it. Came in under a new a spec with how it was equipped. Like the front facia update, touchscreen.
Wheels on mine are much nicer. No regrets it's a phoneominal car.
Finally it's get a touchscreen. with this beautiful interior a big win huge upgrade 👍

Still a sea of plastics in the upgraded cockpit. Why not carry the stunning wood panels on the doors throughout the entire cabin?
That interior is a disaster. Lines and curves and materials and colors and plastics everywhere...someone was on something when they designed that.
Now they just have to totally redesign that RDX

I like Acura but I’m def with you on that one
This may be an unpopular opinion but I like the touchpad. It takes a few days to get used to but once you get used to it, its easy and you can operate the infotainment while barely moving your hand and without leaving your screen covered in fingerprints. I think a problem with it in reviews is that the reviewers don't have the cars long enough to get used to it.
I agree people have been ridiculously hating on the touchpad too much. its literally almost the same thing, you both use your finger, the only difference is instead of reaching all the way to the dash to use your finger, the touchpad is conveniently placed where your arm is resting.
I agree with you. The trackpad works great. I do wish it worked the same way when using Apple car play.

They changed to B&O speakers? I know that B&O is REALLY good, but I've read (and heard) that the ELS 3D studio speakers in Acura were absolutely top notch. I'm a cringe audiophile, so I hope that this new B&O is just as good if not better than the ELS speakers.
It really shocked me!
Was shocked, too when they announced Acura's partnership with B&O earlier this year and first intro'd in the ZDX.
I really liked the 3D sound, it was great, we will see how new one fares. Have B&O in Audi and replaced one speaker, with other 2 due to be replaced soon. All before 1st year of ownership with music usually at half volume with flat eq.
When you're driving with road noise, traffic, etc., you can't hear it the way it should be heard anyway, so it makes no difference.
We’ll see. I’m on my second Audi with B&O and I don’t love it. My 14 S4 B&O sounded better than my current 21 RS5 with B&O. If it’s anything like what’s in my RS5, it won’t be great.
Really diggin the front end new sporty look as well as finally getting a touchscreen infotainment. The perfect upgrade in my opinion. Great video Joe!

2:51pm EST I have a 2019 MDX Advanced and have been wanting to purchase a new MDX but hadn’t because of the archaic infotainment system. But after watching the 2025 MDX Type S preview, I am elated to see the improvements made, especially the touch screen, and I am thoroughly convinced that I want to purchase another Acura MDX, preferably the Type S. I am glad that you already included the Advanced features. Now, the only thing I have to consider is the new pricing probably. I pray that it’s not to high. Acura you did an Excellent job in improving your flagship!! TSH
I have a 22 MDX Type S not sure the changes are enough to get me into a 25 but the new infotainment looks awesome! Color is on point but love my Tiger Eye Pearl.

Trade it in. Better infotainment and has built in Google maps.
No point in trading in over infotainment. Thats a lot of money for a pretty minor upgrade.

It’s not the best performer in its segment, as the new X5 is faster, but the Type S is number 2 overall with regards to performance so far, which is an amazing feat. I do believe it’s currently the best deal in this segment. Acura has done a phenomenal job.
Yeah Acura is solid, tested agains i6 x5 and honestly it’s a tough call. The sound system in Acura blew me away

The only missing Type S now is on the RDX. Remember the previous generation RDX when it had the same 3.5L V6 that the other Honda/Acura products had? Then they went to the 2.0L turbo for the current generation. I would love to see them bring a Type S for the RDX to the market with the same turbocharged 3.0L V6. That would be awesome.
The refresh of this MDX Type S is awesome!! The major change of the redesigned InfoT. system is worth the price of Admission for this Fantastic SUV. I have a 22 MDX Advance. lease expires in August. I would be willing to extend my lease for the time needed to get a new 2025 Type S. Great Thoro Review Joe. Really liking the new Color with the light Gray Leather interior (I have that in my 22 MDX with Fathom Blue Pearl exterior).

Air suspension, adaptive dampers, massaging seats that actually massage, SH-AWD, and V6... what's not to love? I want this SUV!
Great review as always. Love what Acura is doing these days. Im on my 3rd now (2 iLXs and currently a TLX) If they got rid of the iLX and added a 2 door integra instead .. id say they'd have a better balanced lineup.

I really dig this new MDX though I think Acura should’ve kept the touchpad and added a touchscreen instead of replacing the touchpad system with a touchscreen
I thought the same thing.... These bigger screens aren't always easy to touch while driving especially for short arm people..... Both would have been nice

I would actually miss the wrist bar/rest I like to hold on to it while driving. No where to place my hand now

I Currently own 22 MDX Aspec, I am thinking the same thing. I feel the touch pad is easier , and safer to manipulate when driving. This gives a good reason to hold off until the next gen(full refresh).

Great and much needed changes. I abhor the touchpad on my 2023 MDX. Now it’s just missing a Hybrid power plant that’s tuned for performance like the previous generation MDX Sport Hybrid.

They should have added 3 prong plug in the middle row, can this be purchased with out the 3rd row also can the gloss black be swapped out for say carbon fiber or some other material? Nice SUV for sure, hopefully can be able to customize it more on the build your own.

That touchscreen is so much better than the track pad. Now better than the QX60. I am surprised by the piano black however.
I'm glad they finally got rid of the touchpad! The #1 problem I have with the new Acura is that the camera doesn't come on automatically when you decelerate when parking like it used to in the older MDX. Also, why can't I just choose my colors for the ambient lighting like in my cheap Mustang? Not enough color combinations. Everything else about Acura is awesome.
Love my 2024 MDX Type S Advanced with blue leather and Lunar Silver exterior…. The only things I don’t like is the piano black trim and the small fuel tank - only have 300 Mile range. This vehicle needs to have 380 to 400 Hp…. But I do really like the 355 HP… has a lot of fun. My second Acura - 4th Honda Product. Excellent vehicles. My 2012 TL Advanced has 176,000 - so reliable and love driving it. Bought it new…. Best car I have ever owned. Thank you Acura

Great review as always Joe/Lori. I just can’t get excited about the touch screen considering they’re only 10 years plus late in getting with the rest of the automotive world! Would really have liked to see a bump in hp/torque.
