As a Lexus 5-time RX driver for 23 years, I’m going to be watching all 2025 MDX reviews. The updated Lexus RX has some disappointing changes. Not the least of which is the switch from a V6 to a Turbo 4. It has also reduced its cargo-carrying capacity. The new TX has also left me less than excited. The new MDX might just fit the bill.

Wish Acura produce hybrid version of MDX Type-S. the same or improved hybrid system that RLX sport hybrid had. It could make type-s even faster and more efficient. I would definitely buy one. Still great changes. Wish they also leave brush holder for driver, it seemed to be convenient. Don’t like piano black and would be great to have aluminium or kind of carbon alternative for type-s at least for additional payment

In fact, the touch pad is even better than touch screen. You have to lean forward to get to certain points on the screen, versus you can rest your body to let your finger do the job on touch pad. People are so hesitate on the touch pad design at first including myself. But after using it for the first time I think it is even better expericence than touching screen.
To be fair, I own both MDX and Tesla. Often times I would misclick on touch screen by little which makes me jumping in and out of menu multiple times. On touch pad I have accuracy in the sacrifice of quick response.

Guys, your reviews are simply the best! Always look forward to your unique insights. Do you think on the 2025 MDX Type S Advance, the Lane Keep assist and traffic jam assist will finally work from 0 MPH, like it does on Hyundia / Kia models? I had a Type S advance and had to trade it back in under 10k miles and go back to a Kia Telluride because the lane centering and navigating turns worked perfectly at any speed. I felt like I had to constantly correct the MDX, where with the Telluride as long as my hands were on the wheel the car would drive itself perfectly, even most soft to moderate curves. No jogging "ping pong effect" or the wheel constantly vibrating. If a local road in a residential neighborhood had a line to the left and right of the car, it worked. The MDX couldn't assist well in any capacity unless cruise control was on, and we were going above 45 MPH. Thank you @CarConfections

Good review and showcase of the new 2025 MDX ! I have a 22 MDX Advance with a lease expiring in August. I have one problem with the confusing lineup. It seems that the Type S (which I pine for!) is equal to a A-Spec Advance with the following exceptions : The Turbo 3.0 V-6 Engine, controllable Air Suspension, and the 31 Speaker B & O Sound system? Do I have that right? The Typw S is an Advance , correct? The new Touchscreen is very welcome. Despite dealing with my 22 MDX with the TTIP system for almost 3 years, I still don't like It. If the MDX wasn't so good looking and ride/handle so well, the TTIP would have forced me to decline it. But I'm still Digesting that front end change with big lower bezels!! I have to see that live. Having said this, my 22 MDX is an outstanding SUV with terrific Handling/ Steering /Ride/ Comfort with many creature comforts. The Standard V-6 actaully s enough power and very responsive paired to a great 10 Speed AT.

I agree that it would have been nice to keep the pad and to add the touchscreen. However, Acura probably liked the idea of cutting down costs of the additional hardware since they are adding the touchscreen. (However, I also think they should have kept the hand rest even if they got rid of the pad).
My CX-90 PHEV has both a rotary dial AND a touchscreen (when you are using CarPlay or Android Auto) However, I prefer my rotary dial as well since I also dislike fingerprints.
I really considered and test drove the MDX, however, I would have had to pay 5-6k more to get an Acura with the equivalent features of my CX-90. Also, the Acura had much worse gas mileage than my PHEV model. Heck, even the inline 6 Turbo model has superior gas mileage to the MDX.

Ugh so close to a home run!! The touchscreen is a great upgrade, but I wish they’d integrate the infotainment system into the dash for a more refined look (and ditch piano black). What blows my mind is that they STILL don’t have vents in the third row. How can this be a top family SUV without them? As a Mom of 3 living in Texas, not having vents in the third row is an unfortunate dealbreaker. I really thought this would be the SUV for us, but without AC back there the 3rd row isn’t functional. How is it that the Pilot has vents but not the premium MDX? 🤯

    • @CarGeek360

Yea the TX is our front runner right now, but I still don’t love the front end. @mmbrindley Місяць тому

@@Jeez001 We live in Texas … gotta have vents back there if you’re going to have passengers for an extended amount of time (especially if they’re a kid in a car seat). It’s another reason why ceiling vents are a much better option (and why the TX unfortunately beats the new MDX + comfort in the backseat). Even if they offered a climate package like Mercedes does for the GLS would be a win … I’d absolutely pay additional money to have ceiling vents in the 3rd row!

New wheels aren’t very good looking. I prefer the ones that came on my wife’s 2023 Type S. Not a fan of touchscreen, I have touch on my Blackwing and it’s always covered in finger prints. And the kicker, no more apple car play or android auto.
The map display is the only thing new on the interior of this car that I wish I had in the 2023.
Also, massage seats already came with the advanced package, did I miss something? There’s no chrome in my 2023 mesh, wtf are you talking about? It looks the same 😂
