Not a good idea to buy a new generation truck 1st year. Retired but worked in automotive supplier industry with also a lot of business with Toyota. ($60,000,000 a year). Crap happens even in Toyota’s great new vehicle development process. Toyota and Lexus will replace roughly 100,000 engines in Tundra trucks and LX SUVs built for the 2022 and 2023 model years. Also 2025 4Runner delayed. Reason high demand for common parts across vehicle platforms. Part forecast for new vehicles is planned years in advance before a launch with a production cushion capability in case of higher demand. A supplier ships to higher demand. Hell or high water you make the production schedule. No excuses, unless a disaster or a covid pandemic. There should be no part shortages now. Wonder what the real reason for the 2025 4Runner delay?

Yes. That tried and true bulletproof engine is why we had no issue shelling out so much money. We knew it would run for 100s of 1000s of miles. We don't buy them for fuel efficiency.
That turbo 4 been lasting since 2015 have you seen a lexus nx or is200t broken on the side of the road? No toyota is last going turbo its because they been perfecting the turbo 4 and turbo 6 before they put it in there products unlike all the other car makers.
Oh yeah turbo 4 motors like 4g63 and the b series aren’t reliable, you are not an engineer. Not a good look to spew these baseless and uneducated opinions
Been waiting for this. You were the first. Thank you!! Toyota got this one right. There is still faith in Toyota for not screwing up the legendary 4runner. This will certainly do well on the market. I can already say that of all the new vehicles, Tundra, Sequoia, Tacoma, Camry, GX, TX, RX, this 4runner seems to have kept the Toyota heritage the most. "Off-road twinkies" Hahaha! The new 4Runner is almost perfect (just needs amber turn signals in back). To be honest, I hope Toyota makes a lot of TrailHunter and TRD Pros early in production to not only meet the inevitable demand but to help put a stop to dealer markups.
