Fixes one of the biggest problem I have with a few BYD models (especially the lower end)…the interior is thankfully restrained. Makes the whole car look like a far more mature.
Acceleration: Mid-range variant 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 5.9 seconds, top-end variant 0-62 in 3.8 seconds. Price: $31,059 - $42,458 Range: 342-404 miles
So 1/3rd less expensive than model 3 with around 20-30% more range and similar acceleration. Why would anyone in China or where BYD exports want a Tesla?
@@christopherbeyer7740 Those are CLTC ranges, which are very optimistic. Real world range would be comparable to Tesla if not a bit worse. But all in all, a very strong rival to the Model 3. But there will always be people willing to pay more for a Tesla badge on their car, similar to those who are willing to pay more for an Apple logo on their phone.

Chinese cars are constantly being internationalized. But the problem now is that these cars have been eating up the market of Japanese cars and German cars. U.S. car sales are now less than one-tenth of what they were 10 years ago. South Korea's Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors are almost out of the Chinese market. Estimated to wait about 5 years. After the Chinese market is saturated, it will be provided to the EU market. Now in Southeast Asia, such as Manila in the Philippines, many young people no longer like Japanese cars. For the same price, young people prefer Chinese Geely cars. You can search for Geely Auto in the Philippines on UA-cam.

Looking forward to your test drive review, hope its of the performance version awd, you get to do some 0 to 100 and tackle some windy roads. And keen to know the regen braking, how strong it is and if it makes the car come to a complete stop
it would be good if you can review chinese car models that are sold in overseas market more, like their sales number in China and specs of those models in China. Interesting to see new chinese car models for sure, but those are pretty irrelevant for us overseas consumers if they are not coming anytime soon

I'm a mere 5'9, and the front seat was adjusted for my personal driving style, which is pretty close to the steering wheel. I'm not sure you'd be able to fit much of a baby seat behind you, but it's worth a try!

If you look at the average full time Chinese workers wages vs an average full time U.S. worker's wage? Yeah those cars aren't cheap at all. A 46k base model 3 has already been show to be as cheap to own as a 30k corolla is over 5+year's. 👍🏻
@@4literv6 Yes but unlike an average US worker, the average Chinese worker can opt to buy a wide assortment of cheaper EVs which don't exist in the US, all the way down to a Wuling Mini EV that costs well under 10k USD. Also while it is true the average Chinese worker has much lower income, there are so many more people in China that the total number of Chinese customers capable of affording a 50k USD car is just as many as there are in the US, if not more.

Lower income people in rural areas would buy those very rudimentary $2000 ChangLi low speed cars and trucks, also electric. The scale to which they've electrified their transportation infrastructure in China is just so much more ahead of the US or any other country really. Hundreds of thousands of fully electric busses and taxis are already deployed, not to mention their high speed rail network that is larger than the rest of the world combined.

Also adjusted for per capita the U.S. has the most ev and hybrids otr as of a q2 report showing the worldwide estimated total ev&hybrid numbers. China though has over double our total ev charging infastructure even adjusted for per capita. Which is impressive. They are killing it in some very interesting areas on evs&renewable energy deployment, they should be applauded imo and studied. 👍🏻

Saw one for myself yesterday. No test drive allowed. Exterior, material and craftsmanship are good, but the interior - let’s say it’s trying a bit too hard, lots of busy lines, with blue and orange LEDs littering around, and the tiny, sloppy plexiglass shift. Not to my taste. The rear trunk has a tiny opening - measurement sees it being 10cm shorter than the model 3 - making it hard to squeeze much in for family use. With the quality of the drive still unknown, I can say they seem to have traded utilities off to go over the board for the sportiness design wise. The lowest trim will be a good buy, just for BYD’s solid technology underpinnings, but other trims we’ll have to wait and see. Again, not my car, maybe I’m just too old for it… Btw the model I inspected was a 82.5 kWh, single motor version that weighs 2.2 tones.

these are exported. not all countries will get them though. it is unlikely to be available in usa, due to political risk and 25% tarriff.

With the quality of the drive still unknown, I can say they seem to have traded utilities off to go over the board for the sportiness design wise. The lowest trim will be a good buy, just for BYD’s solid technology underpinnings, but other trims we’ll have to wait and see. Again, not my car, maybe I’m just too old for it…
Btw the model I inspected was a 82.5 kWh, single motor version that weighs 2.2 tones.
