Wow, this video really demonstrates how important bass is in music, as soon as the bass is brought in it sounds so much thicker and fuller. Anyone who says that bass does nothing for music/isn't important needs to listen to this.
So many bands doing so much stuff these days, and yet Gorod can still be recognized within a few seconds. Keep that signature sound going guys, cocorico !
For such a talented band, I have huge respect for them for staying true to prog/tech death metal. There isn't a lot of money it, but they play it because that's what they want to play. If we didn't have guys like this, I would have nothing to listen to lol. They could easily play some stupid popular shit, but they don't. Bands in this genre are truly dedicated to making music, and I really respect them for it. Gorod is really amazing. I love their more progressive sound too, the somewhat "light" aspect one might say, in the context of progressive or technical death metal.
Easily some of the best shit ever! My personal favorite Gorod song. Can't believe the band thinks highly enough of it to make this kick-ass vid. for it. Top tier metal fellas! Doesn't always have to be brutal as fuck!
Now this is the kind of music I like! Can anyone recommend similar bands to Gorod? All I can seem to find that's called "real metal" is 80's metal bands like Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. Not that there's anything wrong with either of those two groups, I love 80's metal, but it's not quite heavy enough.
erik berrier Inanimate Existence is great and so is Fallujah! Fallujah especially is atmospherical and probably something you'd like for sure, Inanimate existence I just found but they are still great
Sam left Gorod - guys are thinking about new drummer, rest of season will play with a temporary drummer and than back to studio - new album! Source: Gorod's FB
Anata are a great example of tech death done right. It's got all the impressively flashy and complicated bits but they're fused into the song in a way that isn't ridiculous and silly. Can't say the same for Animals as Leaders.
Yeah The Faceless just don't have enough hooks for me. Jaw dropping technical stuff though. The new Spawn of Possession is great. And Psycroptic. Thanks for the tips but my question was actually meant to be rhetorical. Haven't checked out Cryptopsy though. Cheers.
Late, response, but, I never said that there was no bass, I said that the guitars on their own sound quite empty, as soon as the bass is brought in, boom, there is the fullness that the music needed.
As for this, Beyond Creation blend their technical influences into the piece rather than simply rely on technical influences to be the piece which is essentially what this song is doing. Big difference. All technical metal bands are full of technical wankery of course, it's the entire point of the genre but it's the overall composition of the song that marks a difference between those who are simply showing off and those who are trying to create something.
Sorry on phone meant to search that! Gorod kick serious ass, I find their music kinda carnival-esque. Like some kind of carnival overtaken by mutants and monsters and the sort. Anybody else think that?
Listen to Animals As Leaders, arguably the most technically oriented band out there at the moment, yet the voicings are beautiful, i've heard people say the same thing about AAS as you have said about this band, it's really what YOU make it, i get emotion out of this song, i also think its very catchy, the technicality just tops it off. Listen to ANATA its technical, yet you can hardly hear the technicality because they hide it, they're melodic death metal, i feel you'd enjoy them
Ulcerate and Obscura are the only ones that can compete with these guys. But apart from those two.. no. Gorod is amazing. And they are an amazing live band too.
This song is proof that technical death metal has stellar musicianship and not just distorted blast beating and 1000 mph shredding

I like seeing a band playing to an empty room. There's something comforting about it.
the more i listen to this............the more i have to listen to this. it is mesmerizing.
I really love this version. The snare just sounds amazing!

Both French and French Canadians are redefining the boundaries of music... For instance archspire
I love how mr Alberny flips us all off while doing powerchords at 220bpm with a ferocious blast in the back; a signature move made to last!
I'm totally addicted to this album! Congratulations on a masterpiece!

I've been watching this video three times a day for the past two weeks. Time to say something.
One of the best technical death metal bands in existence. One of the best ever in my opinion, easily.
All of the riffs. All of the notes. All if them
I slept on them for so long. Sooooooo glad I finally gave them a chance
Oh... so they did. I wasn't aware of it. I've mostly listened to their stuff before that. thanks!

MASTERPEICE !!!! this is it
I love every Instrumental song from gorod (first two minutes in this case)... no screamer to damage the good stuff that the guitars do.
There definitely is. I listen to this on my headphones all the time. The bass line is pretty sick,
One of the best bands out there.

erik berrier Inanimate Existence is great and so is Fallujah! Fallujah especially is atmospherical and probably something you'd like for sure, Inanimate existence I just found but they are still great

I didn't knew Mr.Lawrence Krauss played in a awesome Metal band. Stay Heavy \m/
INSANE!
Completely agree.
Anata are a great example of tech death done right. It's got all the impressively flashy and complicated bits but they're fused into the song in a way that isn't ridiculous and silly. Can't say the same for Animals as Leaders.
The all mighty octave.
QUE BUENA MUSICA!

Yeah The Faceless just don't have enough hooks for me. Jaw dropping technical stuff though. The new Spawn of Possession is great. And Psycroptic. Thanks for the tips but my question was actually meant to be rhetorical. Haven't checked out Cryptopsy though. Cheers.
Benighted
New SOP is amazing haha good call.
it feels so weird, metal without bass
Lol what!? Pls be sarcastic
+vZZenn oh wait nvm this play through doesn't have the bass in it.
+vZZenn nvm again lol it comes in later xP
after two minutes of great riffing and chaos part, bass is coming.. lol
BASS PLayer, stands next to the drummer, w. a green bassguitar… Buy the record.. Then you can hear the true sound, not a U-tube video!!
Late, response, but, I never said that there was no bass, I said that the guitars on their own sound quite empty, as soon as the bass is brought in, boom, there is the fullness that the music needed.
Sick
This so great reminds me of paganini
Those who cant hear bass, listen at 2.00, there is pure bass… They have o.c. a bass player!!
What model is that yellow guitar of his? I need it
rival junior Hi this yellow guitar is a LAG arkane model (french guitars). the others are from a french luthier : Hugot Mermet.

for Cryptopsy, listen to Phobophile or Cold Hate, Warm Blood
C'est des Français ? Super 😍
De la Nouvelle Aquitaine !
did they change their vocalist>? sounds the same but looks very different.
Actually, there's a bass what do you think it is at 1:58 ?
does anybody know where to find tabs for this song?
Is gorod still active?
HOLY SHIT...
💗
Sorry on phone meant to search that! Gorod kick serious ass, I find their music kinda carnival-esque. Like some kind of carnival overtaken by mutants and monsters and the sort. Anybody else think that?

Not the first couple of minutes, later, yes :)
Listen to Arkaik's new album if your looking for something new. That shit kicks ass, n so does gorod =)
I thought I was good at guitar until I tried to learn this
anyone know the tuning? makes tabbing way easier
Ulcerate and Obscura are the only ones that can compete with these guys. But apart from those two.. no. Gorod is amazing. And they are an amazing live band too.
Mathieu Pascal with his damn tele...in a technical death metal band.
no bass?
The fucking masters \m/
Is there a better tech death band?
2023 who’s still here
Juste dommage que la caisse claire n'ai pas de timbre.
comes in with the vocalist around 2:05
quite an intro there.
