The Gleam series is among the most sacred series of records I can think of. I discovered the Avett Brothers because NPR featured a song from the Second Gleam on its SxSW selection several years ago. I was so excited to see that there was a third Gleam in the works and it has lived up to all the hype my mind gave it. The first time I heard "Victory" my response was, "HOLY $#@&*%!" Just what I needed for 2020.
These brothers, by themselves or with their amazing band, are making some of the very best music anywhere right now. They blow me away with their stunning lyrics, gorgeous music, crystalline brotherly harmonies, and purely loving spirit. Have two tickets to a showof theirs in Richmond, VA in October that I paid ummm too much if you didn't know them and love them to the bottom of your boots. 4 rows from the stage, center section. Zero regrets, pure excitement, hoping COVID doesn't steer the train off the tracks by then. I spread the word about these guys everywhere I can. Then, here in Lynchburg, VA, about a month ago, at karaoke on Tuesday night at a place called Dish, a buddy of mine sang "If I Get Murdered in the City" and I KNEW I was in the right place for me at this time in my life. Yeah. Kind musical and spiritual geniuses. And humble and down to earth, who'd probably say to that comment, "Whoa, hold on there. We're just a couple if guys from North Carolina who love music."
I have been a member of the Church of Prine and I went to a service at Red Rocks where John gave the first sermon and let Scott and Seth take us to home. What a glorious worship it was.
I finally met my first fellow Avett Brothers fan in my hometown of Marietta, Ohio. She was a nurse drawing blood, asked what i was listening to and i said The Avett Brothers. This girl lost her shit. Im surprised The Avett Brothers arent a little bigger here.
Absolutely agree with everything you said! We are blessed to be living when these beautiful souls are playing for all of us, bringing hope and peace in an otherwise pretty disturbing COVID- ravaged world in 2020.
I love them so much. Seth and his wife lived on my street in Manhattan They do not live there anymore and e dry one is leaving my NYC...but we’ll survive!!!
At first, The Third Gleam didn't fit in my mind with the previous two. I was wrong, it does. It is the same as the others and it is better than the others. It took me a dozen listens to understand this, but I understand it now.
Love it all, but for the next album can I request a single old style murder ballad with lyrics that bring me down and harmonies that make me fly away? I'm a fan from way back.
Great session, but nothing compared to Saturday night's show from Charlotte Motor Speedway which was PPV. Glad I got to see it, but I'll be returning to see this again and again. :-)
always curious as to why, lately, so many guys are taking the opportunity to say "before the tisktisktisk hit." also i liked greenday before and after dookie hit. so, take that for what its worth.

Absolutely. I've been in hard times as well as happier times in my life and they're always there no matter which time I'm floating thru...
If only life could sound like this.
These guys keep getting better and better. Lyrical perfection.
Every time I listen to them I am blown away! The lyrics, the harmony…! Excuse me but I have to go listen again.

I don't think you can wear backward ballcaps even ironically anymore.
When you can play the ukulele non-ironically like that, you can wear whatever you want! haha
Is this about Georg flyd? I'm wondering about white privilege! So real.
