you always seem to not know what you are doing but what turns out is nothing less than spectacular! Thanks you.
Thank you very much Calvin, I start off with an Idea, the project decides what it wants to be
I really like the shape of this vase. And the color contrast between the light wood and the green is cool. Nice job, Doug! 💜
Thank you Tracey
Doug, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! I have been getting that tearout working with resin for pens for years and never understood why. Finally an answer! Beautiful work on the vase. Thanks for sharing.
Thank You Frank, I prefer to use a spindle gouge on pens,
My eyes are drooling over this!!! I'm so in love with piece Doug 💕💕💕
Thank you Cindy
My too..and i like second piece blue color too
It looks exquisite. Like the way the logo looks.
Thank you very much Sandra!
That is so nice. I love the color of this green. Thanks, Doug.
Thank You Kris
Love it! Green is one of my favorite colors.
Thank You Michele
Love the colors. It turned out beautifully! Nice job, Doug
Thank You Lars, Glad you like it
That logo coin is really nice in that piece Doug. Always entertaining buddy, thanks!
Thank you Lewis, Glad you enjoyed it
That is just beautiful!!! Very nice job!!!
Thank you very much!
You are really fun to listen as you work. You do some amazing work. I can tell you really love wha t you are do.
I appreciate that! Thank You
Greetings Doug, love the shape and the colour great job, stay safe and keep smiling.
Thank You Peter
Thank you for the discussion on chip out. I started turning my first resin bowl today and had terrible chip out. Now I know why. Thanks again!
Thank You Shaun,You are so welcome!
I need that in my life. Great work!
Thank You William
That piece came out Awesome Doug👍
Thank You Thank You Steve
Doug! It's awesome! I'm not a fan of the colors, but they really work with the "sticks". The only colors I'd need in a shop... purple, pink, blue, red. Thanks for another great video man! Stay safe.
Good call! Pink and Purple went well last week ! Thank You Vickie
Beautiful ... great video too ..
Thank you very much!
That’s really nice!
Thank You Morgan
Looks good. Thanks for the tip on cutting too much and getting the chatter.
Thank You
I guess my mutt's a fan. He's got his head on my shoulder watching along with me. Enjoyed as always, Dave.
Thank You Dave, He's just spending time with his favorite person in the whole wide world ! Take every minute of it, I miss Henry so much
that piece looks really cool to me I love your clear logo 👍👍😎
Thank You Luie, Glad you like it
I thought for sure that catch cracked it since it didn't come out of the chuck! Glad it didn't! It came out very pretty, buddy! Cool finish,
Thank You Billy, You and me both! I still needs to perfect that finish but I really like the shine of it!
this kinda inspires me to do something in green with bits of wood for a uv resin pendant, maybe some earings to go with it and then just hand them to my mom or daughter without sayin a word as to why.
That sounds like a good Idea !
@@PohlBarnProductions ty they might be thinkin im goin crazy since i have been makin so many things with uv resin. i did learn that if a piece turns out wrong acetone is an artists best friend.
Looks amazing
Thank You
Loved the whole process👌👌
Thank You
I think its Awesome!!
Thank You Nicole
Let me start over I grew up working in a cabinet shop with my farther. I decided to become a welder. So here I am turning wood again I in joy your craftsmanship and your knowledge. I would like to know your recipe for the shine juice.
oh ok Thank You Dennis, it's 3 equal parts of, Denatured alcohol, boiled linseed oil and Shellac, pretty simple to make just do not make much at one time, the alcohol tends to evaporate and that throws off the mix
I appreciate that you're becoming more instructive in your videos and less "recovering from disaster". You turn out some beautiful pieces despite your "apparent" muffs. Well done on this (and many of your pieces), and thank you for the techniques...
Thank You Harry.
The green color gives this piece a real manly vibe. Something that would fit in if you had your own man cave. If a man wanted to put flowers in his area without making it look too feminine, I'd definitely suggest something like this (of course, it'd have to be a specific type of flower; daisies would probably clash).
I say this as a woman.
Thank you Thank you , LOL
I've heard a couple drops of silicone oil in your resin helps with those "fisheyes", haven't tried it though. I guess they use it for painting resin on mugs also. Search "resin fisheyes" here on UA-cam for info.
Interesting!Thank You
That is a purdy vase, Doug. I was wondering if it might be waterproof, with the resin coating. Just lovely. Makes me want to put flowers in it.
Thank You Stephen, it should be water proof but I did not test it before shipping it out.
Looks like we call each other to decide about this week piece form lol
lol Thank You, you know how it is, brain fart as to what I make is some times easier decided by others.
Great project. I was wondering how much you charge for a sticker. I need one for my wall of fame.
Thank You Randall, there are a couple places to get my stickers, in the Store on my channel page and also in my Etsy store link is also on my channel page and in the description below the video.
It turned out beautifully!
Thank you
HA ! I see what you did there.
Resin 🙄!!
Ha Ha, cool video Doug, and the vase came out awesome!!
I found out after my show that the ebony effect blank I was turning was polyester and apparently polyester is one of the poopiest materials to turn? Plus I had no clue what I was doing 😂😂😂
Thanks for the little tips you put in this Doug, much appreciated bud 👍
Take it easy.....
Hey, we still gotta discuss a collaboration 😉
Steve....
I've only turned that stuff in pen blanks, but what I showed should still apply well enough, a collab would be great some time, we'll have to get that sorted out if we are going to be sending anything back and forth, seems they want to rape me sideways to ship over there,
First to comment woo hooo. Doug great piece. Love the colors. Keep up the great work good sir.
Thank you kindly Steve
I love it! I want to make stuff so bad! I have a nice garage and shop. Just gotta get my money situation figured out!
Thank You , yeah this is not a cheap hobby that is for sure !
@@PohlBarnProductions I bet! Looks fun and well worth it! Very rewarding! My rc & fpv hobbies are expensive as heck too
"The artist is always the harshest critic." Hey Doug, again you did a great job on the vase. Those colors are really nice combination. I really enjoyed how you explained a few things that you were doing there, it would be cool i think if you were able to do some more of that and maybe a video or two on how you do your turning techniques. Cheer and stay warm....bottom fell outta the thermometer here 🥶
Thank you Jeremy! Cheers!
Doug the piece came out beautiful I love the vase my friend very very nice the wood and the clear green is awesome you did a great job on it buddy I appreciate it thank you thank you from Doug
Thank You Doug, Glad you enjoyed it
Wow, that green just pops. I hate doing resin finishes. Way to hard for me. lol
Thank You Ken, it is a little harder but the end result is great, that's if I can get that finish, Kim Tippin is making all of us look bad, LOL she's got that finish down !
Wowza! That is magnificent! I love the resin colors and usually I’m not a fan of green. It turned out so beautiful! Great job! Bravo!
That carbine sure took care of it It sure cut it fast or did you speed that part up faster?? Looks great Doug!!! Looking forward to your next video. Really liked the clear logo on that one
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you Russell, nope the carbide cut right through it without any problems,
That is Awesome piece! Doug it remind me of old vase grand mother had when I was kid .You do such great work. You are great inspiration to me and to all view your work.Thank Doug👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank You Thank You Scott
An original and beautiful thing! Good luck!
Thank you very much!
Thanks so much for your shout-out. Looking forward to getting your sticker. And I hate green 😂 but that is amazing. Great video 👍
Thank You Wendy, Sorry Green worked for Claire when I shouted her out ! LOL
@@PohlBarnProductions hehe. I still love it. Had a few subbs too 😍
@@Toonpish That's great Wendy Glad I could help
Красиво получилось...
Thank you
That looks great Doug and that logo looks amazing too buddy!! Another great video brother!!👍🏻👍🏻
Thank You Bruce !!!
Great piece love the colors
Thank You Norma
Love the vase and and NEW LOGOS!!!! a how are you and how’s the hip? Still avoiding doing mine but getting harder to do that. Keeps tearing inside. Did the same thing last time. The temp surgery was supposed to last 5 years. I’ve been avoiding it now over a year but it’s gotten bad hear more in last 9 months. I sleep sitting up on couch. To keep pressure off. Bed makes it worse. I’ve enjoyed thru therapy from the last surgery. 7 months. This all stems from a motorcycle hit and run. Me on receiving end on it, many years ago. I’ve had a lot of surgeries and many years of therapy. Sadly.
Hey got a question on shinning my little resin projects. I obviously don’t have a chuck yet to turn don’t have space yet but finally got a turn sander/grinder/buffer... the stuff you use would it work on my small projects and would you show something doing something small without chuck. And show me how? Plus as I said before I want to send you some resin fish so you can do a bowl with them. I’m dying to see what you’ll do with them!!! You just need to tell me colors or I can send you a mold and you can make them your choice. Learned a new trick too. The 24k gold paint pen if you paint it in silicone molds will release the paint in the resin... and man it looks amazing!!! Specially on the fish scales or even mermaid scales tails! Been also using them on skeleton bones bones. Let me send you an ashtray. I know you don’t smoke but dude this thing is so bad to the bone... it rules!
my hip is fine, I actually broke my pelvic, took roughly 5 months to not feel it anymore but I am fine now, some of the stuff I use should work, I'm not looking at what you have, micro mesh works great for shiny stuff along with the buffing wheels. resin FIsh ! do them up I will figure something out with them. I hate picking colors, as you've noticed I have been making on suggestions the last couple projects or so
Absolutely stunning, love this green 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much Marie 😊
I know what the sticks are...
They're Green Wood...
(Wood in Green Resin - Green Wood)...
I know, I know, I really, Really, REALLY should resist...
But everyone that knows my knows I'm Never Gonna...
😈😈😈😁😂🤣
lol Thank You A
I really like the vase,,,,what are the dimensions?
started off at 4 x 8 so roughly that for a finished
No doubt this combination is a winner! 49 comment before me. THANK YOU DOUG!🤗 I was so excited to see this and turned out absolutely AMAZING 💚 Your logo was very interesting too how you picked that copper to accent your name was really cool. Hope you have a BEAUTIFUL week Doug 💚😇🥰again thank you 😊 ✌🏻
Awesome! Thank you Annie!
Beautiful👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank You Robert
I like it! (Even more if it was swirling, sparkling purple!) 😁😉😏 If it doesn’t work as a vase, use it in the kitchen to put cooking utensils in. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ I enjoyed your little lesson about pressure. Even though I don’t turn things, I still like to learn. I’d send you a sticker, if I had one. 🤭😆. I don’t do anything that would need one. 🤪 Thanks for another fun video. See you next time. 🦠Be safe!! 🌲💚🌳 🦅 🦕 ✨Roma
Thank you Roma!
Stunning 🏴 🇨🇦 Do you sell your work?
Thanks again Morgan, I do on Etsy, Pohlbarnproductions
I really like the combination of those sticks with a green resin. Very nice.
Thank you Thank you
Hi Doug, I remember the red one and I love this one just as much. Take care Doug. Cheers, Huw
Thank You Thank You Huw !
Looks good, Doug! Another really nice piece. The colours you chose really work for me. Usually I like brighter colours, but that green is lovely. I have a random stick casting in my near future. I won't be able to stabilize. Do you believe that stabilizing them in this blank was helpful? Regardless, I will probably take my chances with the equipment I have and hope I don't have how much to repair during turning.
Thank You Jay, you can buy wood hardener or use acetone to thin your resin and use it as a stabilizer, it thins the resin, that soaks into the sticks, Acetone evaporates then resin hardens, make sure sticks are dry.
That’s unique, I really like it. Will it work without stabilizing and just using a pressure pot. Really COOL piece.
Thank You Michael,Yes it will
Hi Doug! I'm new to your channel and I'm enjoying binge watching your projects. I'm in Michigan too😁
Just wondering where you get your logo pieces done?
I'm going to start getting into wood/resin turning too. I've found some inspiration from your channel along with others. Thanks and keep them coming!
Welcome Niccole! I get them from a guy on FB , Bob Cook @ facebook.com/laserartbycook
Beautiful work! I love watching your videos. Just one question. Newbie guy here… I took some classes on woodturning and I think I’m ready to start working with wood and resin… I just bought my very first lathe and a whole bunch of equipment last week and I am looking forward to start my new Hobbie. My question is, in your video, you talked about stabilizing the wood. How do I stabilize the wood and is that something that I would have to do every time I work with wood and resin?
Not at all, it's for rotten wood basically, there are a few ways to stabilize wood,
Truly inspiring! But what happens if you don’t stabilize the wood before pouring the first resin? Doesn’t the wood eventually get fully sealed by resin once you brush the outside? I’m wondering how to start this and I haven’t picked up any stabilization materials yet. Thanks for posting!
Thank You Thomas, it will, but the wood is then not as hard or may still be half rotten, you can cast sticks in resin without stabilizing them, all the other swampstick vases I've made are done that way,
Love the green, but loved the extra commentary about getting the feel right with the resin.
Thanks Doug you’ve become our Saturday morning kickstart to the weekend, a genuinely enjoyable point in our week in these crazy times. 🙏🏻
Awesome, thank you Craig!
I really enjoy your instruction / explanation of things. Not pedantic. Just enough for my ignorance to be filled a little. thanks! (And beautiful as always!!)
Thank You Jeffrey, lol the blind leading the blind ! I had no idea how to explain any of that.
I enjoyed watching your clips I enjoy giving you thumps up, what I don’t understand is when someone asked you a question regarding your work and all I get is a ❤️ how can we learn from your clips? At least you can do is respond on your comments so everyone can gain some knowledge not just a 💜 ♥️ ❤️. Your doing beautiful work how bout answering some questions?
um are you sure it me, I answer all my comments, and I mean all of them, sometimes it's hard to find a comment that is after a comment with all the comments I get But I answer them all on the first go, Thank you for watching and commenting,
I like it when you do these branches in resin projects. I have one resin Idea I wanna try in the near future. just one. I plan to title it "the only resin project Zed will ever turn'. ha ha. saving for resin.
lol WHAT ! Thank you Zed
Well, I think it’s stunning, Doug!!! Great job! I’d display it proudly. 😊
Wow, thank you Shay!
Since you repurposed the pipe from your pressure pot, this idea might not seem so far-fetched...
For the interiors, maybe wrap a cloth around a kitchen whisk? That way it has both pressure AND give?
Thank You Christopher, I suppose it could.
I thorough enjoy watching your videos, and your work is excellent... Did you learn to turn wood first before experimenting with resin?
Thank You Jared, NOPE ! I jumped in head first learned as I went
Green goes go with trees etc, nice job.I think you are harsh on your work, you will find fault, I do the same, it makes us do a better job the next time, that is why you very nice work.
I have done my first resin job and it is not easy, had to change the shape of the bowl once. Beautiful piece of cherry though. First resin left holes because the chamber I bought did not hold air? Got no email back from supplier, so had to sort it out myself!! £240 ish. Second resin went ok.
Thank You again Sonia, I had to coat the seal around the rim with petroleum Jelly, then marked on the lid after a few trials and errors where it did not leak so bad so I could put it back in that spot every time.
Very Nice Doug
Thank you Alvin
The dimples were a charming feature Doug. I know, I know: has to be perfect. Im the same way. And I have a broken rib which needs to heal... So,I cant do nothin else than watching videos here on youtube. Awesome vase. Love the green. Would like to see the blue one as well. That coin with your logo looks nice. Please stay safe and take care.
Thank You Stephanie, OH no a broken RIB ! I've only ever bruised a rib and that takes long enough to heal, I found a wrap during the day and a pillow under it at night worked well.
Stickers came today! Thanks! They're really cool! I'm planning on making a sticker board sometime and putting one on there and the other on my computer
Glad you like them!
Very nice again my friend. You are getting better and better with it. It strikes me that for the most of the time you get lost of Mr. Murphy. And I am pretty glad you are, because your projects are nice. Thank you for sharing Doug. 👍👏
Thank You
Good looking vase Doug! - Ed
Thank You Ed
Nice work Doug. Good tip on the chipping. That always drives me nuttier that squirrel poop.
Thank You Andy, I still get it just not as bad as most do, and the whole you have to fix it or it will just get worse thing is frustrating also. lol
I should know but I don't. What is the music at the end of your videos. Ih and the vase is cool. Love the concept but I really appreciate your explanation of pushing to hard causing chip out.
Thank You Rick, The Awakening - Patrick Patrikios, I got it from the UA-cam Library after I kept getting flagged for copyright on a song I purchased a license for,
Good lookin' vase Doug! Perfect use of the Maker Coin too! THANKS!
Thank You Bob. Glad you like it! sent someone your way this morning.
Doug it was nice to be in the workshop today. The vase came out nicely. I like to Pohl stamp on the bottom. Cool design for the vase. Thanks for sharing this!
Thank You Linda
Hello Doug, the color compliment the wood a lot, and as usual you make a nice vase out of it.
Stay safe and keep turning.
Thank you Thank you Hans
Lovely shaped vase and love the colour Doug Cracking job as we say over here😊
Thank You Bram
beautiful piece Doug..love the logo in resin effect...enjoyed the video pacing as well
Many Many thanks!
You might want to take a look at Nick Zammeti's video on keeping swirls in mixed colours of resin, might find it interesting/helpful
Thank You Scott, I've watched it, I know how to keep them separated, Nick should of known also, I follow Zac Higgins for all my resin information.
Nice result Doug on the vase, and I really appreciate the turning tips on the result of pressing too hard with the chisel and what part of the chisel to use 👍👍Many thanks👍👍
Thank You Lee Glad I could help
Not sure why, but I’m thinking of lava lamps looking at it... nice work.
Thank You Lynda, they do sort of look like those lava lamps.
I love your work and you stay consistent with your content I carve wood sculptures but your channel makes me want to dust off the lathe n turn A vase 🏺 I’ll keep watching your videos
Thank You Peter, I try to keep it real as possible, I will try other things here and there but for the most part it's turning with resin.
Very nice Vase, Doug!! like the green. GOOD WORK!!----Rex
Thank you very much Rex!
Liking that the colours to compliment that wood...l thought it looked great Doug!! 👍👍👍
Thank You
It seems to me that, no matter what craft someone is practicing, a lot depends on the amount of experience the crafter has. Just as an experienced baker will know by feel if a dough they are working with is too wet or dry, too soft or hard, you know by the feel of the cutter on the wood and resin if you're pressing too hard, or if there is some other problem. It is a very difificult thing to convey in words- that's why in olden days the crafts did the apprentice- master thing. A master can teach his apprentice only so much: the rest has to be learned by actual practical experience.
Thank you Carolyn, this is true but it's hard to convey here on UA-cam sometimes.
Lovely vase Doug. Love the color. I sent you a sticker without a note sorry. I am just starting out haven't posted anything yet.
Thank You, I will keep my eye out for it and get one back your way as soon as I get it.
Looks awesome Doug. Love the green, looks real cool with the sticks. I do like that you paused and explained how you are doing it
Cool, Thank You Steve
Talented people are their own worst critics! That is absolutely beautiful, you make it look so easy, but I know it’s not.
Thank You Marty
Have you ever considered using a vibrating table when you do your resin pours? It might help with getting the resin into the nooks and cranies, and also air bubbles
Thank You Allen, I have but I do not have one.
That came out beautifully. The color of the sticks wit the green resin was perfect. Great job!
Thank you so much!
How awesome that you've got a viral vid on your hands - you deserve it!!
ALSO - love the new logo deeliebob, and also love that you take some scrap wood and make something beautiful out of it.
Thank you Chris, hopefully this one goes that way also !
Oooh! I just got some logo coins too! Have to make something worthy of having a coin on it now though. Lovely colours and fab tapering shape Douggie 🥰🌲🦊🥰
Thank You Thank You Claire, I can't wait to see you use those coins in a project !
Hey! You need some Magic Mystery Sticks for that... I´m sure you´ll come up with something very worthy! Claes.
I’ve watched all of your videos and now I’m watching them again. They’re that good. I forgot to say, and so are you.
Thank You Susan, Glad you like them!
