So glad I watched this. I discouraged myself from doing glamours because I thought you could only change 1 item to look like another, which would be pointless for leveling when you are constantly upgrading. I'm glad I watched this to learn about plates, thanks!
So I just watched the vid because I thought it might be amusing. I didn't expect to learn anything I didn't already know. Then you did "link to glamour plate" and I don't know how I didn't already know about this.
Just swept through all the worlds, got lucky and only could've saved like 5%, so not a big loss. I could've saved that much just by buying without the city tax (which I also forgot)
when you divide that by weapon, head, body, hands, legs and feet, it is more like 65ish, so, it is definitely not enough. And I'm not counting rings, wrist and neck.
Seriously. I put my poetics gear in there when I'm not using it for other classes but I'm at like 300/400. I also hate deleting class gear for some reason. They need to expand what can go in the armoire

@@ZeplaHQ Yeah but inventory data moves around with you. Glamour Dresser, Armoir, and Retainer data goes to sleep when not in use, I imagine like a zip file. Then it gets unzipped when you open them. It's a way heavier load for that much inventory data to be constantly active though.
Minor additions: - You can permanent-dye and apply-to-what-you're-wearing-now items currently in the glamour dresser via right click menu, but not when editing plates. - There's also a warning for duplicate items that is good to watch for. The glamour dresser can hold multiple of the same unique for some reason. - Glamour dresser will wipe out random stats on aetherial items, though that's quickly becoming irrelevant. - If you need to check item stats or armiore-ability of something already in glamour dresser, right click, try on, hover on THAT icon in the dressing room window.
I feel so bad at glamouring, I can attempt and prog savage edens raids with some success, but my brain turns to mush when I attempt to understand the glamouring steps! They need to make the glamour dresser even MORE user friendly for ppl like me! Thank you for the video! You rock!

Yeah, I've been looking into this game (and it looks cool), but the glamour system seems like 10x worse to use than the other two mmos I've played (GW2 and warframe)
@@T2Designgaming At first it is, but after you figure it out it isn't the worst. Would be nice if you just automatically had any gear you pick up have its appearance saved to your glamor dresser and then slap it on whenever without needing to keep the gear until you throw it in there. I guess they were worried about data bloat or something?
@@zeterzero4356 if it worked like that you'd have all kinds of stuff you don't need in there, you'd basically just have a data base of stuff and I imagine that'd be hard to keep track of what people have unlocked. They're already struggling with storage but looking to give us more plates and gear sets in the future. This way you can get rid of things you don't need so it's a little less of a mess. Plus I personally used it as storage for gear I wanted to use for different jobs later. You can always take it back out once you've reached that level and use it. I know you can just give it to retainers but that's not the case for free trial and limited space there too unless you want to buy more retainers.
@Timothy Clark Yup! If I remember right he used to sell all the fifty-or-so kinds of glamour prisms. It felt SO GOOD turning all those things into the new glamour prisms.

I have been using one gear set as my city and golden saucer clothes. I didn't want to risk glamouring them because the glamour system seems complicated and I feared destroying them or tying them permantently to one set of gear. This video alleviated those fears somewhat.
This video was great. After recently discovering Glamour sets and the dresser, my main goal has been to level all my main classes and side classes that I like and getting them proper gear to then use glamour.
Very helpful! I didn't know about linking glamour sets to jobs, so there's more time I should spend gathering to earn money gone down the glamour drain, lol.

Thanks so much! I picked up some steps from quests and forum posts yet could never find something lay it all out like this. There are so many nuances people pick up over time and oftentimes when new you don't even know the question lol. The Appearance system in WoW is my main motivation these days, so finally having a better grasp of it in FFXIV makes me want to play loads more now >_
Somehow, despite having played for nearly 2 years now, I completely missed the Armoire option in the glamour dresser. I never picked up on the icon in the top right corner either. Did not know you could dye the plate or link to gear sets. Thank you very much Zepla for the informative video. I will now be doing a lot of glamour dresser management this week :D
This has to be the greatest thing ever for an "old" new player like myself with tons of random cosmetic items. Cleared up tons of room because of this!

That is very well explained,Zepla! Even as a veteran player returning after 5 months away from the game, i had missed out on the armoire being accessible from glamour dresser. Very handy! I also appreciate being shown the way plates work, i did not know linking glamour plates to a job would be specifically applied to that job only despite several jobs having similar gear! Sweet!

Only downside is that there are only 15 plates, and more than 15 jobs...I really hope they add enough plates for each DoW/DoM/DoL/DoH personally. Plus more more more space in the glamour dresser!

It took me way too long to realize the glamour dresser was my best friend and I only needed to go to an inn. Now I have difficulty deciding which of my 400 glamours to get replaced by a new one. Disappointing you can't get a glamour dresser in your house, but I get the technical limitations on that.

Yep! You can see me switching to Bard after linking the associated glamour plate by using a hot bar button on the bottom right of the screen at 10:19 :)

I have never noticed the amoire thing before (at the bottom of the glamour plate bit). . . I'd been putting some stuff (that could go into the amoire chest) that I wanted as glamour in the glamour chest instead of the armoire chest because I didn't think you could do that. XD Thanks! Now I can clear up more space in my glamour chest. XD

fyi you can sort the gear in your glamour dresser by selecting the drop down menu, and selecting the job whose gear you want to use for the glamour plate. you see the ">All", if you click on that, the window will drop down. above that, there is also an option to only show gear your race/gender option can wear, meaning if you started the game as lalafell male and became a viera female but have the male lalafell starter gear in the dresser, it will hide the starter gear from sight since viera cant wear gear designed for men or lalafell.

You're a godsend for this, i went from ARR to postgame Stormblood without doing this despite my friend who got me into this game telling me i should do this However once i had Maxxed all my tanks to 80 things began to overlap since they started sharing armor, this was becoming too much specially since i hardly had any invo space when starting on my DPS classes now, so again thanks SO SO much phew..
As someone that tends to avoid these optional things because I'm incredibly inept, this has helped a lot. Thank you-- my fit-to-bursting inventory is your biggest fan.

Yes! 400 isn’t a lot because many gear are also job/role specific. Unless you only ever put lv1 glamour-only items in there.

I've been told I need help dressing myself IRL, I never knew I needed help dressing myself in a MMO.
I've been playing for over two years and I didn't know you could link glamour plates to gearsets. This changes everything.
Does it use Prisms everytime you switch to the job that has a linked plate?
@@danthefool21 nope! Since it's using plates from the glamour dresser it just pulls from that. No more glamour prisms needed!

The old glam system was Glamour Savage, you needed different prisms for different types and levels of equipment.

the only thing i hate about the glamour system is that we only have 15 plates. At least give us one for every DoW/DoM plus a couple extra

I had no idea you could tie plates to gear sets like that... Does it still work if you make a button out of that gear set on a hotbar?
Yes it does....only catch being have to be in a city state or the like for glam plates to change between jobs.

However once i had Maxxed all my tanks to 80 things began to overlap since they started sharing armor, this was becoming too much specially since i hardly
had any invo space when starting on my DPS classes now, so again thanks SO SO much phew..

Omg thank you for making a simple to understand guide. I tried looking up other guides and just got more confusing. I'm not new to mmorpgs been playing them all my life from GW2 to Eso ect,but ff14 wardrobe or transmog system is the most confusing in any MMORPG I have played yet.
