This was really helpful. Even playing for months and lvl 70+ i knew how to glamour and item, but I still had no damn idea how the glamour plate thing actually worked and haven't figured it out. This helped. It also goes to show, if you take the time to make a well-detailed guide of something seemingly difficult other people will find it helpful playing the game.
It was always a mystery for me as well when I started playing but once I figured it out, I was addicted to glamour everything!
@@BunBossFFXIV please explain the process of getting the game to allowing the player to register glamor items or even storing items at all.
I am looking at the glamor chest screen and I cant store anything I have no clue why, and on top of that, it only allows me to use once item and that was the dlc exp earrings. How do I even put items in it at all.

Great guide ^^ Only thought I'd add when it comes to the armoire. Don't put pieces inside you used expensive dyes on like a pure or jet black dye. If you put items into the armoire, it removes the dyes and you cannot dye items inside sadly.
Absolutely! I would actually never dye anything outside the glamour plate! Since it’s resets all the items conditions
@@BunBossFFXIV if I have say a glamour piece for whm that I may put on and off a plate but I'm sure I'm almost always going to want it one color, say a more expensive one like the pure white I will put the item into the dresser than dye it before ever using it on a plate so I don't have to redye it every time. I did take my werewolf ears out of the armoire to put in the dresser instead for example because I want them brown to match my hair and don't want to waste dye redoing the color if I put them on more than one plate or take them on and off of plates.
I'm a new player and I can't tell you how much I appreciate that you care if you ruin the game for sprouts. Thank you for this content. I still am a little confused about what glamour plates are, but I still learned a lot. I'll read up on the plates.
Think of glamour plates as glamour you can put together and it stays there to be applied at any time. Without having to go back to the glamour dresser. Its like mobile glamoring. you set it up once and then you can apply it at any time in main cities. This is why they give you like 16 since you can have an outfit for any occasion.
Another example I like to use is the animal crossing new horizons magic wand that lets you switch outfits at any time. You just need to set them up.

I watched the first two videos that popped up when I was checking for glamour beginner guide and they were sooo annoying, the girls talked to fast and then their attempts at “humor” fell so flat, I was relieved when this was the 3rd video because I would have just gave up after this. Also, thank you for explaining the pure white dyes you purchase from online because i like pure white too and I definitely spend money on a game when it’s worth it. It’s not our fault other people are poor.
Really nice guide. Just a little thing tho, you should point out that the Pure White Dye (and jet black as well) can be also obtained in game, not only via the mog station :) Keep up the good work!

Went to watch your AST guide and was immediately shown that the events at the end of the patch quests weren’t exactly impactful as a certain man was wielding a totally different weapon. I think you could have done a better job describing the Glamour dresser. As someone who has never used it, you didn't really explain why it's different, or the benefits. But you did a great job explaining the glamour process.

I spent my Fantasia making my Lalafell’s eyes 2 shades darker blue to match their racial clothing, and he now sports a dyed beret that matches both. (See my avatar on social media.)
That is actually pretty awesome! It’s something I would do as well 💜💜 I’ve landed on my viera character from the day you can make one. I have only changed her once to make my favorite character ever.
Have watched this video Probly 5 times, great info!! Have a question for you tho (possible video idea to expand on this) is, when I’m using useful sites like Esoracollections and such, when I find one I want, what resources are out there to turn that glam you love into a reality on your character. Meaning how do you look up the gear, how do you understand drop rates or what vendors to get them from, where there located, tools to assist in that process. Maby a short play though where you pick a glam off EC and you build it (with all research) on screen!! Just a thought!!

Thanks for the video, I’m still a bit confused about one thing. Is the glimmer dresser basically your storage for any gear with the exception of costing 1 prism to store each piece? I got 12 prisms for completing the quest to unlock the ability but am worried it’ll be hard to get more while on free trial. Is there a proper storage place to store excess items and equipment? The armoire seems to only hold specific items.

Sprout question: Is there a way to turn off a Glamour Plate? I made a glamour plate with some gear earlier, applied my plate and then when I was walking around Gridania, decided I liked the original set better. But I can't seem to find a way to deselect the glamour plate and ended up having to physically deglamour each piece.
Yes, all you need are glamor dispeller which you can get from market board or some npcs sell them as well. Then go to your glamour plates in any main city, and go to the very last section, 1-79 I believe then there will be one that shows the gear you are actually wearing and there will be a dispel glamor button there. Or you can do them individually by just have the glamor prisms in your inventory and click use, and choose which gear, you want to dispel
This was super helpful for someone who's an absolute beginner player, but I'm still a tad confused. Why should I only glamour at?the dresser? (Had no clue there was an inn.)
Why shouldn't I glamour from my inventory/character menu, I'm very confused on the menu system? What happens if I, that's what I think I've been doing?
Well once you create glamour plates you can do it anywhere but you can only edit those at the glamour dresser. You can do Individual glamours but it’s nicer to have the plates
Game needs a catalog for us to see where to get those glamours and how they look. I mean you can't browse them unless you got it as a drop or saw it on someone else. Although WoW is dying and it's been terrible since the last 4 years, tmog and mount collecting in WoW is superior.
I love the blue collect website for logging things I collect not just gear. Yea I wish they had a in game one

Factoid update: online costumes can be stored in the armoire.
Relics are my only reason i don’t have them in the dresser sometimes i wanna change the relic weapon look to another and having to go the dresser just to change it is a chore
im a simple man. i bought the dlc swimsuit summer and i just want that to stay on top of any new lancer gear i am getting as i am leveling up. and as a new player im getting new gear all the time but want the swimwear to show.
I want to remove my earrings on my character cosmetically but I still want them equipped there's no option for that. There is one for head gear though
If you didn’t wanna wear earrings, then you would put emperors items in the earring slot in the glam plate option

The only thing I don't use the dresser for is glamouring on my eternity (wedding) ring to my outfits since it's a functional item and you can't put it in there anyway lol~

Hi there, so one little question about removing things from the glamour chest. Do you get the prism that you used to glamour it back or would I just have to buy another one to add something new to the chest?

The only reason I ever go without using the glamour dresser is when I'm just trying to glamour the weapon itself, but the plate that has the gear I'm glamoured for has the weapon for my main class. Same armor look, but different weapon

Correct you use it once for the glamor plate and it will stay every time you switch to that glamor plate again.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with buying things from the store with real money. That store is there to make our game some extra money so why not? It's a supportive feature and there is nothing they sale there that is pay to win, which I love.

Like the video but still lost could you do a video for Knobs like me:( I am really new and played eq2 for years and had so many clothes I love that but here I get stuck running around with boots on with a awsome coat:( I know learn the game first but this is part of the game and I don't know anything about the dresser and I am afraid to ruin something and get mad at myself for ruining something I loved. I am not quite sure I understand the question. If you talking about actually acquiring the gear, you get it through dungeons; gold saucer and many more ways. I’m sure that item exist somewhere but you can just make up the item and create it.

When an item is rewarded from a quest, do you get all of the glamour options (for all classes) or just the one you pick as the reward?
Quest items are specific gear or items. Ffxiv breaks it down to like striking, fending, maiming, aiming,casting, healing. These represent all the classes for the most part and the quest item would be like boots of healing which can only be equipped to the healers. It will be equipable gear to which then you can put it in the glamour dresser. There are some gear that is for all classes to which any class can wear it for glamour. If that answers your question
Or it can be food or materia or all sorts of things.
@@BunBossFFXIV Right, so if a quest rewards the option of healer gear or caster dps gear, you can only receive one of those skins / glamours.

@@Mmaniac93 yeah unfortunately it doesn't work like transmog. you have to have a physical copy of an item and then put it into the limited space of your dresser to use it for glamour
Watched it and still have absolutely no idea how it works. What ami dropping into the dresser? The gear that I want to be visible? The gear I want to wear for the stats? Guide doesn’t cover the absolute bare essentials.

If I can answer some questions here just to point you in the right direction. First pretty much any content creator will have a guide on this so you can check fashionista page as they do theirs in a really fun whimsical kinda way.
In the video, I explain that you use
Glamour prisms to drop your gear in the glamour dresser. Once your gear is in the glamour dresser you can make glamour plates by using the gear in your glamour dresser.
Gear that you wear for stats should always be equipped to your character in the character screen. When using the glamour dresser as the name implies, is only for the glamour or aesthetics.
I’m not sure how much more thorough I could get but maybe another creators style might suit you better. There’s the fashionista, desperius has one, I

your actual gear on the char is not visible anymore if you decide to use stuff from glam dresser.
best route is to create something nice in the glam dresser as glam plate and then link it to your gear list. you will update your gear list every few levels with better items but with the link to the glam dresser you will always look like the chosen glam plate and thus fight in style :)

Ok…so the BASE item is what we currently are wearing? And the items to glamour has to be in your armoury chest for the glamour?!? I’m a moron lol. And…no shame in the dye. I purchased metallic red, purple, gold. I’m addicted lol.
if you hover over the item you glamored, it will shift back and forth between base item name and glamor item named. You will want to go to the glamor dresser to glamor any item pretty much. You can do it from your inventory but just makes it easier to have it all in one play.
@@BunBossFFXIV Thank you! I wanted to erase what is on a glamour plate but apparently I can’t….unless you are not able to. I found out I have two plates that only have two items worn. I wanted to add to that plate an outfit I created but can’t. Is there a way to overwrite the plate?? Sorry if I’m confusing you. I confuse myself. Lol!!! TY

Oh man I said this is my novice network and people who haven't played wow Ina few years got right upset. Like, it's okay for other games to do things better. 😅 FF does a lot of things better and no one complained when I prefered FF!

The Elder Scrolls Online outfit station is better or just as good, in my opinion, as FFXIV's Glamour system.
I don't use the Glamour dresser because it's too hard to use even watching this video is confusing and I can't use it because I use controller and the settings for that is completely different the little hand what moves up and down I don't care what people call it is difficult to guide. this video is complete wasted time just use the items into your enter infantry you can have them in a list you don't need the Glamour dresser the Glamour dresser is pointless and has no value in the game to use

Am sorry, but this guide was bad. I still do not know how to do it, you just showed me what we can do with it and not the how.
Literally at 3:40 it shows how to put stuff in the glam dresser. And then at 4:58 I show how to put a glam plate together that you can access at anytime and 5:28 I show ti apply the glam plate to the character that you made. You need to just take the the time and watch the video 👍
@@BunBossFFXIV ok, first let me thank you for your guide on the controler configuration, both for the w crox bar and targeting configuration, that helped a ton. On to why I saied the video was a bad guide, am a new player, I dont know anything and am very overwhelmed by the amount of windows and submenus. When you did your video about controller configuration you handholded me trow the process. Here on the 3:40 no items were showing for me to place on the dresser, I was confused and didn't know why. After I saw another video it was because I was on default "Inventory" once I changes that I could see the items I could glamour. Then I found out that for each armor I glamour I spend one prisim, am a free to play account I can't access the market board and companions is a bit further on level for me. Again after watching another video I found out that if I used a level 15 carfman I could talk to the same girl and already pick up the quest to creat more prism and be able to get the emporror new something so that I could take of clothes. Those are my main problems I had with the video. This is just a constructive feedback, and showing in the eyes of a new player. There were other things that the video didn't help, but they are minor compared to the ones I talked about because I was not able to glamour.

@@BunBossFFXIVoh another issue I had, but tis more for you to know. At fisrt I thought that when I glamour something I meant that I glamour my chest items, meaning if were to level up and get new gear I would not need to pay more prism only if I founf another armor I would like to glamour. That was not the case, so I had a problem, I started glamoring with a shirtless character and placed an armor I would lile to use on my chest via the dress, so an red x appeared and did know why. I after I used the manual way woth out the dresser I could understand what was happening, I was glamouring a single unit of my armor, so if I was shirtless I could not glamour on the dresser.
Such a garbage system. Absolutely horrible. If a player who's never applied Glamour before, can't do it intuitively, its terrible. Random quest. Random person. Random place. Done at dresser, at inn, which I've never seen. I'm a new player, I see the literal words "Cast Glamour" from my inventory, so you know, I think that means cast glamour. So then it says it can only be done to gear of the same level. This gear is from an achievement so there is no finding it at a higher level. So then I'm asking in chat if I can increase the level of the item so I can cast glamour because I'm a new player, I don't know anything and shouldn't need to lookup a fucking video for something that should be so simple. Just blows my fuckin mind. Insanity.
Here's Guild Wars 2's method:
Hero -> Wardrobe -> Click Item to change -> Click Skin to use -> apply... 5 Clicks....
What's worse is people defend this shit. Not to mention every skin is fuckin character locked too. Like I'm enjoying the game, but its like some things were created in the 1990's where they don't give a shit and expect you to just wander until you sort it. Like just changing a job to white mage, I would absolutely never find that npc without looking it up. Never. Just let me play what class I want at spawn.
