Thanks for coming out, I hope you enjoyed it enough to come try to some more tournaments to mix up training a bit. Your and Bren's fights were great (even if I was a little concussed in one lol). If you're even in Houston come by Shogeki for a practice!
Thanks for the match Lucas! You did awesome out there man, great meeting you as well. I def wanna try sumo again. Appreciate the invite too. If you're ever in San Jose come train BJJ with us!
Epic video! The collab we all needed! Hella cool to see you execute Sumo strategy real-time for edge fighting, tsuppari, and avoiding Georgian b*tch slaps! 🤯
Wow. Great courage competing in the open class! No doubt BJJ and Judo are helpful but there is no denying that experience and strong foundation (leg and lower back) are huge. Great video guys!
HOLY SHIT COLLAB WITH SENSEI SETH!!!!! Absolutely killing it with your videos. Your vids helped me get into judo. Thank you so much. Keep up the good work.
Great vid! Seth and you are my hero's for finding a way to monetize basically being Ronin Warriors, traveling the land trying new Martial Arts. Judo and Wrasslin' definitely helped you. Didn't see any bjj on display.
Hahaha thanks! Appreciate you following along. Yeah def no ground techniques from BJJ came into play… the principles of controlling somebody I guess translates tho. Inside position, etc, all of that.
It looked like so much comradery both in the team and the other competitors. Made this a super fun video! And lol at Seth's "wrap it up? what you mean my boy!?" loool
Great shit! I competed in my first sumo tourney on the 9th in Indiana. Seth's videos got me interested in sumo and my coaches/teamates have met/competed against/and had him on their podcast!
We didn't get to chat at Consulates, but I really appreciate y'all coming out and giving it a shot, neithhonor and respect for the art, the community, and the traditions of our beloved sumo. Hope to see you train more sumo!
Really interesting! Beyond understanding how to execute throws and take downs, manipulate weight and position, and bases.... sumo has a completely unique objective compared to all the other arts. I always wondered what sumo would do to help judo/jits.
It was great seeing you do well at your 1st tournament. Texas classic is coming up in December on the 7th. Also roller town tournament for next year has been announced you should come to that one for sure it's in April and is a 15 match tournament.
Josh your videos are the best You are a true martial artist. Not just because of your ability but also your lack of ego We should always strive to be the best we can, but stay humble eh
Sumo if taken seriously, is tough, hard training and hard on the joints. I acquired more injuries doing 3-years of sumo than over a decade of judo. However, adding the abilities to bulldoze and ragdoll folks along with the skill of holding ground are amazing for crowd/fight control. I have handled more occasions using basic sumo skills than my other fighting skills. I will be the first to admit I was surprised at how practical and useful the training was for applications outside the sport.
Super interesting how you can blend in experience and techniques from one martial art into the other Never would I have thought Muay Thai would benefit
Looks fun. Personally I think I'd like a rule-set where it's a do-over if both participants step outside of the ring. Sports fencing has this same issue where you have to look at slow-motion footage to tell who won, when in a real situation they'd both be dead. When you go prone inside the ring, does it count as a defeat if you roll and get up instead of landing on your ass/belly, I wonder?
i have my first tournament EVER tommorow, it's gonna be a judo one. i am so exicted. hopefully i compete against 11 year olds like me lol. wish me luck lads
Some judokas have competed in beach wrestling. Including Laetitia Blot. Although Laetitia Blot have also competed in freestyle wrestling, sambo, MMA as well as judo of course.

It's Rare See Sumo Outside Japan thank you Guys for show Respect for Sumo, I can understand now why Sumo is the Sport more loved in Japan.
Thank you for watching!
I think your BJJ and Judo gave you a lot of solid fundamentals. Now is just refining your techniques and strategies for your next Sumo match.
Thanks for watching! Yeah I think it gave me a solid base, like you said, but I realized there’s a LOT more to the strategy than I thought.
Love Sensei Seth, keep the collabs coming!
Great vid! Seth and you are my hero's for finding a way to monetize basically being Ronin Warriors, traveling the land trying new Martial Arts. Judo and Wrasslin' definitely helped you. Didn't see any bjj on display.

Snapdown!!!! I've been trying to remember the name of that for months!
There ya go!
It looked like so much comradery both in the team and the other competitors. Made this a super fun video! And lol at Seth's "wrap it up? what you mean my boy!?" loool
hahaha yeah that was funny
The Kiddo that beat you are really impressive he's not Big but are tough/skilled and showed to us that Sumo is about skills not only Size.
Yes he was very skilled!
Great shit! I competed in my first sumo tourney on the 9th in Indiana. Seth's videos got me interested in sumo and my coaches/teamates have met/competed against/and had him on their podcast!

Finally, I've been waiting for this video
hell yeah, thanks for watching!
Nice to see sumo get some love. GJ.
100% Awesome Video!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Really interesting! Beyond understanding how to execute throws and take downs, manipulate weight and position, and bases.... sumo has a completely unique objective compared to all the other arts.
I always wondered what sumo would do to help judo/jits.
Cool video, but I don’t know if I’ll ever practice sumo. Judo , aikido and karate are my occupation 6 days off the week . Keep it up!
Let's go, ShuaiJiao and TuiShou next!
As a sumo fan, this makes me excited.
love seeing sumo get more love

Thank you! Oh that’s awesome, thanks for the info. Hope I can make it out next year. December unfortunately I can’t because of a jiu jitsu tournament.
Sumo guys seem so chill.
that was fun
It was such a fun time, and meeting you and Bren was very cool. I hope to see you guys in Houston next month too!
hey thanks brother! appreciate ya

hey thanks bro!
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾yall did fantastic. Hope to see yall in middle weight one day😁
Hey thank you man! Thanks for watching
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Such fun!
Thanks for watching!
Never forget that Lyoto Machida was a Sumo practicioner, and proudly cited it as one of his grappling bases.
Good stuff bro Great to meet y'all
thanks and you too!
I can't remember the name of the guy Bren lost to first, but from Seth's videos I know he's a monster. Guy's a natural athlete.

Super cool tournament!!! Hope to see you compete in BoToashi one day
thanks, glad you enjoyed it too and now you're doing sumo 😂
Good video!
12:55 that was basically a draw tbh
He stepped out before me though
VAR takes the fun out of everything
I think good martial arts is always about meeting nice new people and dear old friends.
good job
Awesome vid
glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching!
as an avid Justin Breakfast and basho enjoyer it was nice to see this
haha thanks for watching!
You know what you should try. Catch wrestling its pretty cool
Kids gather round! The new Josh Beam video dropped! 🔥🔥🔥
hahaha let's gooo
It was one hellva match and really enjoyed the experience 15:32
hey you too man!
Super interesting how you can blend in experience and techniques from one martial art into the other
Never would I have thought Muay Thai would benefit
Yeah I never thought the Muay Thai would come up either! Was pretty cool
My idol
ossssss hahaha
Great video! Now you need to explore other wrestling like Senegalese or Mongolian wrestling!
would love to do bokh!
I’d love to try this for the sake of trying it.
I couldn't place where I've 'seen' Ben before until you said the Malfroy look alike.
Hahahaha
Bro said it was the thin edge that did him in. Hahahaha
Yeah it wasn’t the Georgian sumo champ. It was the tawara
Something about the live training vid having only 385 views and Lucas being one of them is kind of unnerving
23:18 was the big guy going easy on him or slow to react or what? He seemed like he was just watching him spin around there.
oh yea he was def taking it easy, he was very aware of the size/strength difference and was being nice (which I very much appreciated hahaha)
Just gotta lock in
Locked in for life
Cool
Sweet cherry biiiillllll what’s up homie
@@joshbeambjj fine trying to be less unhinged it hard
Nah we love the unhingedness 😂
No way Ben doesn't know the names of kimarite, at least the more common ones! That boy is a troll :P
Hahaha yea he was just trolling me (we asked him to for the camera, of course 😂)
Uuuuh sensei seth is a sumo champ??? Just how good is he??
He’s pretty good 😂
Looks fun. Personally I think I'd like a rule-set where it's a do-over if both participants step outside of the ring. Sports fencing has this same issue where you have to look at slow-motion footage to tell who won, when in a real situation they'd both be dead.

The two of you kinda look like brothers ngl
definitely not the first time I've heard that in the comments hahaha
Did you just say Seth is an edging specialist? 😳
It can transfer but you got to train with Seth and the sumo group he is in, that's how he got so good. In Japan, Sumo matches are all open class
GEORGIAN POWER RAHHH🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪
面白かったよ。
Thank you for watching!
The Georgian guy was trying to save you from falling.
It worked!
i have my first tournament EVER tommorow, it's gonna be a judo one. i am so exicted. hopefully i compete against 11 year olds like me lol. wish me luck lads
Haha let’s goooo! Good luck
Josh your such a goofy goober
you're the goofy goober
Can you imagine if Lasha Talakhadze became a sumo wrestler?!
Wait which one of you bearded guys is Josh?
The one with the short hair
Now try beach wrestling ( kinda like freestyle wrestling but you win by takedown like judo&sumo) and/ or catch wrestling.
Some judokas have competed in beach wrestling. Including Laetitia Blot. Although Laetitia Blot have also competed in freestyle wrestling, sambo, MMA as well as judo of course.
I’ll do it too
@@SenseiSeth Fuck it I'm in 😆
And for MMA Laetitia Blot trained in bjj and Luta Livre ( Influenced ALOT by catch wrestling and judo). For sambo she did BOTH sport and combat sambo.
Let’s do it @SenseiSeth @BrenVez
not much being in the NFL woudl help more.
all is wrestling. Of course your other wrestling arts will help you
Who are you rooting for this Basho?
i have no idea! what about you?
How old were u
i'm 32!
@ that 14 year old is strong! How old was ur first opponent
Not sure about my first one! I think mid twenties? I forgot
@ nice he seemed heavier then you! But think he was an easier guy than the 14 year old.
Can you challenge the 14 year old to bjj
He just didn't want to fall on a kid
Did you have benefits because of your training in judo ?
I definitely felt like the judo gave me confidence to try some different things, yeah.
You let women in the sacred space.
Just can't seem to dig Western sumo😢
Why not?
@joshbeambjj after consideration I have decided the list is too long to type out with my thumbs 🤣
fair! 😂
ur just not a wrestler and thats what i want to see like we are dif and its a dif type of grappling
