★ 🇮🇹Tirano - 🇨🇭St. Moritz cab ride with rear view, Italy to Switzerland [10.2019]

  • In this video, we look at one of Switzerland's most beautiful and unique railways, the Unesco heritage listed Berninabahn - this time in the opposite direction.
The next video on this line will be with deep snow in 4K, so stay tuned.
The Bernina railway sets a few records, including being the highest railway alpine crossing in Europe (2253m), the highest adhesion railway of the continent, the open air railway with the greatest height difference (1824m) and furthermore one of the steepest adhesion railways (conventional railway without cogs) worldwide, with gradients of up to 7%.
A unique aspect of Switzerland's narrow gauge mountain railways is the mixing of passenger and freight wagons in a single train, with wagons often added or removed at intermediate stops with shunting locomotives. On the Bernina line, the cargo mostly consists of wood on stake cars and derivatives of oil in tank cars. Our train today has 3 empty stake cars to the rear, which you will see in the rear view camera along the way.
Due to the late afternoon, the sun is mostly behind the mountains, leaving us without direct sunlight. However, this trip will be recorded again in different conditions and in 4K60p in the future.
Please note the position of the microphone to avoid conversations being recorded - it is on the opposite cab of our multiple unit. You will be hearing some eerie and for some people, funny creaking sounds along the way - this comes from the couplings and the buffer when push or pull forces are applied during the trip. The sounds are completely normal and exist everywhere where UIC couplings are in place. Grease and oil are not to be applied on the hook and coupling.
At this point, I would like to thank Paolo for making this video possible and providing a great deal of information included in the video. His channel: / dellacapaolo
Any questions concerning the trip and the line will gladly be answered by him.
Stay tuned for further RhB videos in 4K.

Lori posts the most scenic rides I've seen thus far. I served in the US Army in the late 70s-early 80s and stationed in Neu Ulm Germany I took advantage of any free time I could to see places such as Austria, Innsbruck quite often. Looking at the scenery in the videos makes me sort of homesick really

Absolutely brilliant ride up through incredible scenery and wonderful civil engineering - some of those narrow tracks skirting the edges of severe drops makes you want to hold on tight! We were climbing for 90 minutes of the 2 hour trip - it was a relief to arrive at St Moritz safely - what a thrilling trip!

I really enjoyed this video. I have Microsoft Train Simulator, as old as it is, running on my Windows 10 with 28" screens, and have driven this route in the simulator many times, one of my favorite add-ons of the famous Swiss routes. It was really nice to see the actually scenery, and experience the many sites and features, including the switchback climbs and the famous Brusio circle viaduct. I really appreciate your posting these long videos. I am old enough that getting out of my lazy boy chair often is a challenge, and these videos let me explore the world.

This is beautiful. I would recommend keeping the video recording at 30fps rather than 50 or 60. The subject matter of a train ride is smooth enough and a lower framerate will feel more natural to the viewer.

    • @dellacapaolo

What do you think about the newer Tirano-St.Moritz 4K 60fps video??

    • @Trazynn
      @Trazynn 3 роки тому

The increased resolution is welcome and noticeable. And yet still I think when it comes to subject matter like a smooth train ride, it would better be served in 30fps.

Wie schön der Herbst in Norditalien und der Schweiz ist! Was diese Schmalspurbahn betrifft, gibt es fast keine Grenze zwischen den beiden Staaten. Danke fürs faszinierende Onlinestellen wie immer!

Before the world went mad. This is amazing, beautiful scenery in perfect weather as weil as impressive Swiss engineering, both in terms of railway and rolling stock!
I hope to return one day :)

Hi from Eastern Canada! How are You in those very difficult time on Earth? Eleven thumbs down, it is awful, those kind of People are narcissistic, even the rocks making the railroads have more hearts than Them. That video is in the Sublime Category, the scenery was spectacular, there is no word to explain the quality of that marvellous video. You did in October 2019 a Supreme job and I and as I can imagine from all of Us here, we appreciate Your generosity and time dedicated to make that sublime video. Again thank You very much, that video help me to have hope and it brightens my day and it made my day. Take good care and be safe and stay Healthy. God Bless You and You all over here.

Thanks for your nice comment. It did actually take quite some time editing this. The camera was acting up a bit, sometimes very dark, sometimes too bright and often with the wrong white balance setting (accidently left it on auto).
      Be blessed!

As I write this I haven't watched the video, yet. But, I want to thank you for showing the consist before the trip. So many other video producers don't
    include this important information.
