★ 200km/h 🇨🇭Cab Ride Basel SBB - Bern, Switzerland (InterCity) [05.2018]

  • Welcome aboard an InterCity service between Basel and Bern. We'll be travelling on the new "Bahn 2000" line between Olten and Bern, the only line predominantly in the open to allow speeds over 160km/h. The Gotthard and Lötschberg base tunnels being the remaining high speed lines.
    The video depicts the current state of the line. In the near future I will be uploading a video of this route as light signals were still operated alongside the ETCS Level 2 (Cab signalling).
    Interesting on this trip are the various construction zones along the way and how they have been transforming the railway since. In Wankdorf (52:47) for example, where they are building an underpass to allow trains to cross paths without obstructing each other's paths.

    Thank you for posting this interesting trip. I couldn't believe my eyes where this line took us. I remember the Bern-Basel line in the early 60s. This of course is much faster. I see in 2004 they built all these new tunnels. Living down under now, I am proud of the SBB Organisation. They can show the world how a railway system should be structured and run.

    Endlich sieht man mal die NBS aus Lokführersicht.
    Zwei kleine Kritikpunkte möchte ich noch anbringen.
    1. Schade, dass es nicht mal einen Blick auf den Tacho gab, um zusehen ob wirklich 200 gefahren wird.

    Danke für die Führerstandsperspektive einer sonst bekannten Strecke. Warum wird der Zug in Lausen abzweigend vom Durchgangsgleis ans Perron geführt? Ist das der übliche Fahrweg? Danke und eine gute Zeit wünsche ich dir.

      In Lausen ists einmal so, einmal so. Ich denke es komme oft darauf an, was für ein Zug als nächstes kommt. Wenn als nächster einen Zug mit halt in Lausen kommt, macht es mehr Sinn über das mittlere Gleis zu fahren, damit der Fahrweg schon offen ist für der hinterher kommender Zug sobald die Weiche abgedeckt ist.

    Thanks for fine video, Lori! Switzerland is beautiful! I wonder, why there is no light in the tunnels. The driver controls the way with an LCD monitor, radar / infrared / ultrasonic? And why there are few passengers on all stations?

      @xeetzer5478 4 роки тому

      Why would there be light in the tunnels ? (Sorry, just normal for me here in Switzerland). For the number of passangers, I believe it's because mostly commuters take the train at those stations. I was on the first station (Liestal) one time at peek hour and there was at least a hundred people boarding the (absourdly long double deck xD) train.

      @@SergeT0925 on the 200 km/h section there is the ERTMS, which doesn't have conventional signals, because all of the info regarding speed and line clearance is relayed in the cab, eliminating the need to look out for signals (except when needing to stop, as you have to stop before the next marker, the blue square with a orange arrow), and also tells the distance to the next marker to ensure speed limits and stopping positions are respected.

    Nice! :) Which IC-line and heading number were it? Did you sit in the locomotive or in the driving trailer? Which model of passenger coaches was it?

    Mit einem Tunnel zwischen Breitenbach (bei Laufen) und Solothurn könnte man Basel-Bern direkt in 45min. schaffen und der Hauensteintunnel und Olten wären entlastet.
    Bin ich der einzig wo das gseet?

    Was there an active speed limit all the way from Liestal to Tecknau? Any idea why?

    • @lorirocks777
      @lorirocks777  4 роки тому +1

      Speed limits:
      Muttenz 125
      Tunnel 160
      Liestal 125
      Lausen 120
      Sissach 100
      After Gelterkinden 125
      Tunnel 140
      These speeds are due to curves and switches.

      As much as I love our trains, having to commute from Basel to Bern daily would be a nightmare...takes way too long and is way too far. I think there is practically no one who commutes on this route daily.
