I think that is proof that Chara is not evil, nor are they the instigator for the genocide run. If they were, they would be pleased with our actions and encourage us to do it again.
@@rcspeedy8109 I personally don't think so, as in this very same ending Chara also states that their newfound purpose in life is to help you eradicate whatever world you visit next. I agree that Chara didn't start the geno route, but they undeniably helped the player finish it (without Chara's interference the Sans fight would be unwinnable since you wouldn't have been able to attack twice). My personal headcanon as to why Chara acts disappointed with you in soulless geno is because there's no point in killing everyone again in the same world. You've already gained everything there is to gain from Undertale's world, so doing the entire thing again is pointless. You don't gain any more LV since your LV is reset when you start a new run, you don't gain another soul to give Chara since the one you gave them is your soul and not Frisk's, and Chara is already at their maximum power so they don't gain anything from it either. Of course this is just my opinion, there's probably something that went completely over my head which disproves everything I just said. There's so much nuance to this specific part of Undertale's lore that I don't think a single correct conclusion that perfectly explains the whole Chara situation could ever exist outside of paper. Oh, and before you accuse me of being a 'Chara Hater', Chara is actually one of my favorite characters; I just personally disagree with the idea that they remain good even in the geno route, since there's several lines of dialog that heavily indicate that Chara ends up becoming just as maniacal as Frisk by the end of the route.
@@justanleo4800 I can see where you're coming from. The player is the one at fault in the geno route, and I won't deny that. That being said however, there's an argument to be made that Frisk most likely ends up becoming corrupted by the influence of LV by the beginning of Snowdin, since that's when Frisk stops displaying emotion and begins acting 'off'. The player can't be blamed since Frisk starts to act on their own without the player's input during those scenes. Chara most likely can't be blamed either since they're probably not powerful enough to influence the physical world at that point (it takes until LV 19 for Chara to be able to attack on their own). As for Chara being corrupted in geno, there's several lines of dialog which imply that Chara completely looses their sense of morality in the geno timeline. An obvious example would be Chara calling Papyrus "Forgettable". A more obscure but far more powerful example would be that if you try to leave Waterfall without killing all of the monsters during a geno run, Chara will specifically stop you in your tracks and tell you that you "Shouldn't proceed yet"; clearly indicating that Chara _wants_ you to complete the geno run. There are several other examples but I don't want to be here for hours pointing out every incriminating Chara quote since there's a lot of them.
Many people interpretate this as chara saying you're evil or something My interpretation: chara has already erased the world and gained your soul, so they see no point in doing it again if a reset is going to happen So she recommends a better path next time, not to avoid genocide, but to achieve a more useful ending That's right, *the soulless pacifist ending*
