Terran Dunklee Yup, and this also goes hand in hand when he tells you "But seeing what comes next. I can't afford to not care anymore." When Sans mentions the timeline starting and stopping than ending that's Chara erasing the world if Sans is defeated.
I've been watching Undertale for a long time. Yes, you, Undertale. I've never really played the game. But what's the point if I've been spoiled with the facts already, I've been on-top of all the resets, watching them. [Cringe attempt to act like Flowey, sorry]
I like how Undertale makes saving and loading less of a feature and more of a power. It really makes you think about just how powerful you are in video games.
@@michakrzyzanowski8554 she tell "lets destroy this world" or something like that so its logic that its not you but the world that she kill thats why the game is reseted after this because the world does not exist anymore
One fairly notable forgotten one. If you defeat Sans, but reload and fight him again, he'll call you a sick freak, but unlike Flowey, he'll always try to fight you.
Flowey distinctly remember every reset perfectly, while Sans takes into account your actions, expressions, and also has nothing left to lose after Papyrus is taken from him.
Alfie Bell He doesn’t remember, he even says that he knows you’ll reset without him remembering anything. He just knows WHY he doesn’t remember, and what your power is, unlike other characters. It’s hinted at that he studies timelines, and refers to the power to save and reload as an “anomaly.” He’s just a LOT more observant than other people, able to read your expression like a book. Your demeanor tells him if you’ve experienced something already, if you’ve died, how many times you’ve died, etc. He doesn’t remember, he’s just really good at guessing.
It's so terrifying... even after resetting the world and becoming a better person, the game literally torments you by letting you know that Chara, the person that you helped by killing numerous innocent people, is just... smiling back at you. Chara knows what you did and knows that there is no escaping the genocidal nightmare you caused for yourself...
Yeah, ok but what happens when you do a genocide run and then countless pacifist runs, does the game forget, or you get the soulless pacifist every time?
That is literally my favorite part of UnderTale. Even before UnderTale I never picked bad options even tho I knew I could just reset and play again but I just couldn’t because the characters in game don’t deserve that, like even when I go in fully okay with being the bad guy but when it comes to it I literally can’t pick the hurtful option. So having a game finally appreciate what you’ve done or what you’ve not done was genuinely so satisfying to me 😌
@@shereen3169What have i done? I just wanted to fight sans and undyne because its challenging and i ve started with true pacifist on a device and on an another i started with genocide and now i finished and now am gonna be haunted by my sins in every route ;(
I fucking shat myself honestly lmao it was my first time playing undertale and i was so stupid and thought that i had to kill toriel to carry on and didn’t think there were other options and I could spare her so when I realized that I could’ve spared her I felt SO bad about it and thought by resetting it would be like nothing happened but boy was I wrong when flowey called me out I was so freaked out but also impressed the fact that they remember and the dialogue is a bit different even before the second time I had to fight toriel and she said “you look like you’ve seen a ghost” well......
I remember when i first played undertale on my grandmas pc, i got the neutral ending but during the omega flowey fight the game would often crash, so i deleted all the files, reinstalled the game, and almost started crying out of schock when i saw flowey saying "you though you could escape?"
oh yeah that probably happened because you removed the game files, but not the save files. undertale's game files are probably stored in your computer wherever you let steam (or whatever else) store the game to after downloading it. however, the save files are typically stored in your AppData hidden folder. this contains file0 (aka whatever you save at a SAVE point in the game) and undertala.ini (Stuff across timelines that the game remembers, like picking cinnamon or butterscotch, resetting, killing someone, junior jumble vs crossword) if your undertale.ini or file0 (or both) are still stored, the game will remember the last flag your save file stored- Flowey's world after he absorbed the souls. So flowey will also remember you deleting the game, or 'trying to escape'.
When I was doing my first Pacifist run and got to Toriel's battle, I didn't know how to spare her. I thought I'd just have to lower her health enough, just like most encounters. Of course it turns out that's NOT how you spare her, and I ended up killing her by accident. Then, of course, I paniced, reloaded my SAVE and tried the battle again, until I figured it out. Everything seemed well. But then I got to Flowey. And you know what happens if you kill Toriel and then change it later. "I know what you did. You murdered her. And then you went back, because you regretted it. Ha ha ha ha... You naive idiot. " That moment sent chills down my spine. A character who knows what I did in a different SAVE file which I overwrote with another one? I think that's the moment when I truly fell in love with Undertale. That's when I knew this game was something I'd never seen before.
That happened to me when I played the demo and reset because I messed up the fight with Toriel. Flowey talked smack when I got hit by the bullets and I was all “fuck you, Flowey.” But when he showed off his (and the game’s) awareness and gave his chilling laugh after rubbing the death of Toriel in my face, I sat in stunned silence. It’s one thing when you’re watching someone else play it. It’s another when you’re playing the game for yourself.
BRUH! THAT EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AS WELL! The one true reason why Undertale still haunts me. if someone asked me what i regretted the most, this will be the first thing that will pop in my head.
kvr0n thats why toby fox said its hard to give the player the feelings in undertale to deltarune because it does take alot of coding he also said it could take a thousand years for the end of deltarune because it does take a lot of coding thats why the end of deltarune is so similar thats why your choises dont matter its because whatever choice you make changes the game toby fox made the game like that so he doesnt do alot of coding for the choices you make unlike deltarune i just said the ending is mostly the same..
If you reset too many times after the neutral Run Flowey just doesn’t even TRY to be there Edit: woah I made this a year ago and it totally blew up that's cool (also I did the true pacifist run and I haven't done genocide and I haven't loaded undertale since I did the true pacifist run because I don't want it to be reset)
waffle king I’m sorry to say it, but you can’t. Flowey remembers between saves, only forgetting on true reset. Since you’ve done the fight already, he knows the souls will just rebel and kill him again, which means he has no point in trying to fight.
I tried to do the genocide run but failed the first time after I couldn’t bring my self to kill the dog, so in my second turn after I killed toriel flowey said “you sick freak, how many times do you have to kill her before your satisfied?” Sent chills down my spine..
@@bionicleapple1254 He has fought and has been killed by sans. Proof of this is that he says this while talking about sans in the neutral ending. “Let’s just say. He’s cause me more than my fair share of resets.”
11:25 I just realized that the line "Don't you have anything better to do?" matches with the ending of the True Pacifist route. If you go all the way back to the beginning, you will meet Asriel. If you repeatedly talk to him and go through all the dialogue he has, his last dialogue would be "Frisk, don't you have anything better to do?" got me shook
@Colin JACQUES you are close but it's undying. Undyne the undying Jeez when have you @Colin JACQUES and @satan(idk what it says there) played undertale last????
i remember beating genocide, then going to do a pacifist, regretting everything i did in the last round. after the special thanks, i expected to go to the title screen, but i saw this scene of toriel bringing pie. i thought, wow cool! then frisks face did the thing. i havent played since.
Frisk actually turned into Chara. I don’t know how. My theory (SPOILER ALERT): So basically, Chara died long ago. After many years, Chara saw Frisk (or the player) killing everyone. So Chara’s ghost got in Frisk’s body. After the Genocide ending (the Erase thing), Chara asked Frisk to give his SOUL, and Chara would bring the world back. Then Frisk, tried to do a Pacifist ending. After the Special thanks, when Toriel left Frisk’s room, Chara used Frisk’s SOUL, then woke up. Now, Chara was in control. This was my theory.
Normal Asgore: recognizes you as human Pacifist Asgore: recognizes you as human Genocide Asgore: "What king of monster are you? Sorry, I can not tell."

If you kill Toriel and reset, she tells you something like "why are you looking at me as if I were a ghost. Do you know something I don't?" before fighting. And if you select *talk, it says the usual dialog and then says "how can you beat her without killing her" or something similiar.

When I started playing undertale, I did a pacifist run. I reset and decided I would do a pacifist again to find any other secrets, then I realised I could do a hard mode and find secrets there so I reset and found out my name was remembered when I reset mid-run. I reset over and over every time I got to a save point, seeing if I could change it. I was pretty desperate. After a while, I ended up with flowey giving a single sentence of dialog instead of his normal introduction at the beginning of the game. “Don’t you have anything better to do?” I wish I could throw my actual self into the game and say something.
Do a genicide run complete the game and then you can completely destroy the game. It kicks you out and when you load back in everything is completely reset
"I know what you did. You murdered her." Quite possibly THE creepiest line I have ever seen in a game. i was not ready for this level of Fourth-Wall breaking.
One time, a youtuber started an Undertale series on his channel. I already knew the game, but i wanted to see his reaction. In the first episode, he said that he never played the game. But when he started, weird things started to happen, too. Flowey recognized him. And Toriel, Sans, Papyrus, Mettaton too. The youtuber looked nervous when some dialogue showed up. Because he played ALL the game alone, and then he played it again in front of the camera. I was so sad that his reactions were not real. Too bad the game revealed his trick. To respond to all the obviously _good_ people that _nicely_ asked me about who that youtuber was, it was just a really small channel, and even if I actually checked, I can't find it anymore. To be honest, he actually received a lot of bad comments from people that knew about that "trick" and got mad. He probably deleted the series because of all that hateful comments...yeah, sometimes the undertale fandom does that. As someone said, there would be no reason for me to lie about it, so...whatever, think what you want. Also, to all the people that got triggered by my grammar, I obviously do not speak english as a first language. I should have specified that before. Anyway, I corrected my mistakes, so all your mean comments about it makes no sense now.

I accidentally killed Toriel when I was trying to do the pacifist route, but thankfully, I reset it immediately to my last save, before the death scene finished. So Flowey didn’t know.

This game will forever be in my heart. There will NEVER be a game like it. It’s so touching! The best thing is though: It breaks the fourth wall so well. Instead of just feeling like it’s just a game, it really goes deep and can change your emotions so quick. It’s so unique and different, and the story is one of the best I’ve seen. In Undertale, You kill something and everyone avoids you in fear of death. In normal games, You play a game and everyone in it acts like it's real life. In Undertale, They know they are not in control of their own destiny, fearing that it will be reset. In normal games, You can Save and load and reset games, and no one will notice. In Undertale, they know they've seen you before. They remember. In normal games, no one has knowledge over saving and loading. In Undertale, Not only do they know, but they can CONTROL yours. In normal games, everyone is unaware. In Undertale, *THEY KNOW.*
I love to think that the one ending the game punishes you for constantly is just *how you play RPG’s*. When I was doing a Pacifist run, I thought, ‘I want to prepare for Asgore’s fight, what should I do?’ And I remembered how I prepared for other bosses in other RPG’s- pick an area and kill everything. It really makes me rethink a lot.
The sun shines through the hole in the start room, it shines through the throne room, and according to the dialogue, shines through the barrier. So he could use that. Could also have used artificial light; fancy bulbs exist IRL that provide all the light plants need to live without the sun, which was likely available to monsters since the flowers in the True Lab stuck around. That or some kind of convenient sunlight magic. this has been overanalisis with peeble, thanks for coming to my ted talk
A common misconception is that Sans can remember timelines. Taking a stretch, maybe Gaster can, but not Sans. He’s not aware of the different timelines, but he does know they exist.
i bet gaster can. if you listen closely to his voice sound things, it sounds like it was taken directly from the abc_123 laugh hidden in the files. if it really is, then it has some interesting implications.
Plus, people seem to think he can remember them because he's able to tell when you do reset or "come back" but I believe he's just perceptive and very good at reading body language. Because he makes several different comments on your expression and mannerisms.
@@bumbabees honestly seems somewhere in between for me. In genocide when sans dunks on you i thought "what if I dont come back? What if i reset everything and then be a pacifist" expecting sans to act different with me but he just acts normal. It seems like he can remember your "saves" in a single game and going back, like with the puzzle comment, but doesnt remember anything from past timelines
There are also more scenes where Undertale remembers: Normally, if you fight Undyne without killing anyone beforehand, after she told you what you did to Monster Kid on that bridge, she will chastise you about the uselessness and the cowardice of you holding that stick, before saying you'd be useful dead than alive, and then allows you to battle her. However, if you befriended her in a previous run, then reset, and encounter her again without killing anyone, she will instead tell you that the whole time she was chasing you, she felt like missing being friends with you, but then she thinks it won't happen, and that you're a mind-controlling freak, and that she will knock you down. It's resonating within her! Not only that, but Alphys remembers as well. Remember that she tells you that she's been "observing" you since you left the Ruins? She first thought she should stop you, but seeing you made her root for you. However, if you've befriended her in a previous run, then reset, and meet her again in the Lab, she would tell you that seeing you is like meeting an old friend again. Your actions DO matter, even if those characters don't seem to remember much about them! Also, some characters even remember their deaths. Of course Flowey remembers, because he could actually remember every run. Toriel also notes that. If you kill her before, then reloaded your SAVE file or resetted, then she'll note that you've seen a ghost, and asks that if you knew something that she did not, before wiping that thought out of her mind. You could even tell her that you saw her die, but you'll think that's too creepy. As for Sans, not only does he know how many times you died to him, but he also knows that if you've killed him. If you reload your SAVE file or resetted after killing him, he'll feel an indescribable disgrace by looking at your face before fighting you, and even thinks you're kind of a freak if you came back after killing him more than twice. I think someone doing this must be kinda acting like Flowey, as he's willing to kill the human over, and over, and over… just like what those people did to Sans. No wonder Undertale's such a good game!
Cappi Lau also I typed in the name CHARA and started to do genocide run, but then reset but kept CHARA as my name and flowey said, “CHARA. Again? Really? Well go ahead and do what you gotta do.” Which I thought was pretty interesting
no need to tell us, you literally SPOILED the secrets, (of course i already found EVERY SECRET YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT)great job, i hope you feel good that you sapped all the mystery and excitement of the not so endless possibilities anymore of the players.
@Gabriel Tyler Miraflor Bruh, cmon, game is like 3 years, plus this is a spoiler video in itself. If someone didnt want to spoil the game, they wouldnt even look at it, moreover read comments.
I want to see how many genocides flowey has done. Has he ever considered sparing? Maybe did he do so just once so that he could kill them easily afterwards?
Ooh, I really appreciate the interactions you get if you kill Toriel then go back. One thing you didn't mention is that before the fight the second time around she comments that you 'look like you've seen a ghost'. It's exactly what happened to me on my first playthrough. I went spoiler free and was playing pacifist until that point, but the fact that the dialog you get the first few times you use Mercy on her is just '...' is what tripped me up. I ended up assuming 'okay, she wants me to show her I'm strong enough to survive, I guess I have no choice but to fight. There's no way she'll die if it's basically training, right?' But then, obviously, she did. So I reloaded to see if I missed something obvious and that's how I found out stuff changes based on things you do even if you don't save, and that's when I knew this game is going to be something special.
:Paulinich Admittedly, it’d be a really neat detail if, upon canceling a Genocide Run either when sans spares you, or perhaps including up until the last chance to turn back, upon meeting him in Snowdin, he’d comment on it: “heya. you look really bummed about something. like you did something that you regret. well, if you’re here now, i guess we can probably be friends”

Something tells me that it is not every monster who is aware of this. Only characters who have shown a high amount of Determination seem to be capable of this feat. I think Undyne is an exception because she's more of a dense blockhead who focuses on her job more than anything else. That's why Toriel, Asgore, Sans and more are capable of this. Unlike other monsters, they can be considered incredibly unique. And it makes sense why Flowey is capable of Saving when you are not around. It's because he is an embodiment of Determination. He is Asriel persisting after his death in the form of a flower.... in some way at least. So he can be considered to be the most determined of all the monsters

the soulless pacifist/photo ending is so scary. once you play genocide, the game never lets you stop feeling like a murderer.
It's so terrifying... even after resetting the world and becoming a better person, the game literally torments you by letting you know that Chara, the person that you helped by killing numerous innocent people, is just... smiling back at you. Chara knows what you did and knows that there is no escaping the genocidal nightmare you caused for yourself...
i haven't played it in a while, i came back to it, i cant remember if i did genocide or not

Yeah, ok but what happens when you do a genocide run and then countless pacifist runs, does the game forget, or you get the soulless pacifist every time?
@@wrp7550 I guess you keep on getting Soulless Pacifist, even if you do the Pacifist route a billion times.

EVEN THAT CANT DELETE THE OMEGA FLOWEY?? I GOT STRESS ON THAT FIGHT
Oh dear heavens
Me: *has offline windows version*
*deletes File0*
Flowey: "you're new to the underground, aren'tcha?"
Me: why yes, yes I am 😈
oh yeah that probably happened because you removed the game files, but not the save files.
undertale's game files are probably stored in your computer wherever you let steam (or whatever else) store the game to after downloading it.
however, the save files are typically stored in your AppData hidden folder. this contains file0 (aka whatever you save at a SAVE point in the game) and undertala.ini (Stuff across timelines that the game remembers, like picking cinnamon or butterscotch, resetting, killing someone, junior jumble vs crossword)
if your undertale.ini or file0 (or both) are still stored, the game will remember the last flag your save file stored- Flowey's world after he absorbed the souls. So flowey will also remember you deleting the game, or 'trying to escape'.
TERRIFYING LMAO
That moment sent chills down my spine. A character who knows what I did in a different SAVE file which I overwrote with another one? I think that's the moment when I truly fell in love with Undertale. That's when I knew this game was something I'd never seen before.
This also happend to me and when flowey told me i cried
That's literally the exact same thing I did when I first played.
It’s another when you’re playing the game for yourself.

wha frisks face did the what
Frisk actually turned into Chara. I don’t know how.
My theory (SPOILER ALERT):
So basically, Chara died long ago.

This game will forever be in my heart. There will NEVER be a game like it. It’s so touching! The best thing is though:
It breaks the fourth wall so well. Instead of just feeling like it’s just a game, it really goes deep and can change your emotions so quick. It’s so unique and different, and the story is one of the best I’ve seen. Every single thing about it is perfect in my opinion. The characters are so on point, both with their looks and their personalities. They all seem like so much effort was put into each of them individually.

The classic fallout 1 and 2 games do remember "a bit". But not like Undertale haha. Well written!

*how tf do you even live without the SUN*
I imagine he goes to the start room every morning and takes 30 minutes just soaking up sunlight lmao
Prob the same way all those other flowers in the True Lab did--artificial nutrients. lol
The flowers in the underground probably evolved to not need sun

Sans just gets a little deja vu
Every monster has a bit of deja vu of the timelines, just Sans can remember a bit more and is good at reading expression.
There are also more scenes where Undertale remembers:
Normally, if you fight Undyne without killing anyone beforehand, after she told you what you did to Monster Kid on that bridge, she will chastise you about the uselessness and the cowardice of you holding that stick, before saying you'd be useful dead than alive, and then allows you to battle her.
Welp Then i am like Flowey because i killed Sans over 8 Times in a row now

I want to see how many genocides flowey has done. Has he ever considered sparing? Maybe did he do so just once so that he could kill them easily afterwards?
Okay, this is epic

Admittedly, it’d be a really neat detail if, upon canceling a Genocide Run either when sans spares you, or perhaps including up until the last chance to turn back, upon meeting him in Snowdin, he’d comment on it:
“heya. you look really bummed about something. like you did something that you regret. well, if you’re here now, i guess we can probably be friends”
