Chara is actually trying to trick you, because you basically sold your soul to Chara after the first Genocide run, she wants you to do Pacifist, if you do natural, the game will tell you to do pacifist, so it's Chara's goal for you to complete pacifist after selling your soul to Chara to resurrect it, this way when "Frisk" leaves the underground, it's actually Chara being set free to kill both the monsters and the humans, like they always dreamed of. You'll get a different cut scene at the at.
ShadiComplains if they weren't always evil, they are now. They even refer to themselves as a demon that can be called forth. Now, in some things, demons aren't always evil but what little we see of her heavily implies she's evil, regardless if she started off like that or not.
Its technically human nature. If our lives are at risk we tend to persuade or beg the person to spare us, if our lives aren't at risk we may or may not tend to be aggressive towards the person you dont trust at all or couldn't be trusted

"Sentimentality" - a sense of nostalgia and fondness for past events. The "perverted sentimentality" is bringing back the world only to destroy it once again. Chara cannot understand such feelings- Why destroy the world just to bring it back? Why keep repeating it if you already know what happens? Chara sees value in gaining power, but such a thing is not useful at all if you just keep starting back at square one. Perhaps another path would be better suited- They're talking about the pacifist route, as that ending has now been altered in their favor.

Kind of makes you think a lot more about Chara as a whole after this. Its like the first time you meet them, they offer you the partnership to scare you so you'll do better next time. Now they know there is no 'better' for you. I've seen a lot of portrayals of Chara as this bloodthirsty killer for years, but having seen this, the fact they beg you to do better really shines a new light on things.

@@g3design637 still interesting tho One of Undertale biggest praises is that there's no correct way to play the game, one of the main themes of Undertale is morality and showing how the characters in the game are shades gray than black and white, the philosophy and the psychology of this game is just fascinating imo. Genocide route is just an attempt to get know more about the characters, it's like what if scenario, it's not about "you shouldn't Genocide" Genocide it's just pretty much a tragic route and chara at the end is just teaching you a lesson about consequences
I just realized that Chara is short for Character, as in a character sheet. The only thing that matters to a player is whether their character’s stats increase and improve, regardless of the source of their improvement.

Just saying this based off of various resources and passing it on. Flowey's dialogue right before you kill him goes on by itself, you cannot skip it but you cannot leave it because it progresses on its own without your input. You also kill Asgore without input from the player, walk towards Papyrus and skip his puzzles without input, etc. That's the character themselves doing that. When Flowey comes around it does this with his dialogue right until the very end, where he puts on the voice of Asriel and desperately asks you not to kill him. The dialogue stops going by itself. You don't have to murder Flowey. But you, the player, do. Here Chara gives _you_ the choice, the final decision. Like they need confirmation of what they're about to do. If you go back now and reset the game you are free of consequence regarding the TP ending. It's only once you kill Flowey do you ever see Chara and screw up the pacifist ending as well. Chara gave you the choice of input to kill one last time. Chara _hesitated_ Hope that all made sense, correct me if I got something wrong.
I like the details this game has, it gives everything a sense of weight, nothing is forgotten (through natural means that is). I also appreciate this alternate dialog because it cements something really important about Chara's character. Chara isn't a mindless killer, they do things with purpose. Chara talks about the Geno Route like a mission. Beat enemies, get stronger, and win. With all that said and done what purpose would there be in redoing it, barring what Chara calls "Perverted Sentimentality". A desperate want to take apart and scour through every little detail of something you once held dear until your enjoyment of it is artificial, without purpose. Chara understands this, they're a completionist and nothing more. It's a game to them, like how it was to Flowey, it's just that they can and do see things through. It's also interesting that Chara values the pacifist route, they don't hate monsters and don't particularly want them killed, but a win's a win. Chara's soul is an analog for the player's actions and I don't think they particularly like it when you fling it around all willy nilly without a reason, there's purpose behind replaying the Pacifist Route or Neutral Routes (secrets, missed information, yadda yadda) but not the Geno Route, it's not even fun.
"There is a reason you continue to recreate this world." The people who only do the genocide run to fight sans: "I don't know what you're talking about!"
A lot of people don't understand Chara because all they see is a little part of them, but look at it from their pov. You fall down a hole in a mountain, according to Asriel, it wasn't a very good reason. (Most likely suicide) You have a hatred for humans. (Connect the dots) You were taken in by a monster family. One day you and the kid you look at as a brother are baking something and mistake butter for buttercups. You accidentally poison your new father. Even though it's a terrible situation, you laugh it off because everyone deals with pain differently. Eventually you learn that in order to save the civilization you've come to love, you need the souls of humans. You hatch a plot to poison yourself, fuse with your brother, kill a few humans so you can free everyone! But it doesn't work, you die and are awakened by another human years later. This new human has determination just like you. You're forced to follow them, narrate and tell them information about your home, but they murder everyone you loved. You come to realize that you were brought to life for this purpose and your soul is filled with hatred. At the end you destroy everything, thinking that that is your purpose, only to have everything happen blamed on you. Isn't that a little fucked up?

Chara is actually a representation of human nature; killing others in games because they're in your way, or because you're bored. Chara is all about the player being the strongest in every game, which is why she says to move on to the next world (game), and is confused when you beat genocide a second time because it wasn't for progress, it was a "perversion".
Furthermore, when Chara refers to you HP, LV, EXP, ATK, DEF going up (like it does in most other games AS A RESULT OF KILLING) that's her presence. Like I said she represents our nature of progress towards a stronger 'chara'cter when playing games.

Chara isn't all evil, they are literally telling you to recreate the world and that ANOTHER path would be better suited. Chara is telling you to stop doing genocide and play a pacifist instead. Chara doesn't want to kill all their monster family, especially Asriel.
Donovan Howes I would suggest watching these videos by Judgment Boy. They were helpful and they prove why Chara isn’t evil. See, they did bad stuff, but nothing unforgivable. In fact, compared to other characters in the game, they didn’t even do anything that bad. Every character is evil in a way though. Every enemy tries to kill you, Toriel tried to raise you rather than bringing you back to your actual parents, and Alphys was doing experiments where she injected people and animals with stuff and turned them into mutants, like some kind of Nazi doctor. The game judges you for using the fight button, but really, everyone is messed up.
I'm super late, but I want to add something. Everyone says how Chara is disgusted at you doing another Genocide route, and thus suggests you to do another route for a change, however, I think it's for different reasons, ones much more insidious. If anyone remembers, doing a Post-Genocide / Souless True Pacifist Route ends with Chara taking over Frisk's body on the surface, as shown in the "Stay with Toriel" ending, at the same time, the "I have places to go" ending has very big implications that after taking over Frisk's body, Chara kills everyone on the surface, the monsters and even possibly other humans, at least that's how I interpreted it. So the way I see Chara suggesting Frisk to do another route here, is that Chara is saying that there's not reason to do another Genocide to continue with the plans, you already sold your soul, so instead you should do a True Pacifist Route to liberate Chara on the surface to unleash hell there, unhinged and with no way to be stopped. And if you ask me, that's the most evil thing I could think of.
That's certainly one way to interpret that (especially since we know Chara hated humans and is not a fan of seeing others dodge responsibilities). But I personally think they alter the pacifist ending to feel less good as punishment for doing the genocide run. As a way to hold you accountable.
It's basically like Chara saying, "You really don't care about consequences, do you?" I always thought that Chara said it because they wanted you to do pacifist after genocide so that they could fulfil their wish of gaining power, and doing another genocide doesn't really help them 'cause they already have your SOUL.

Kind of makes you think a lot more about Chara as a whole after this. Its like the first time you meet them, they offer you the partnership to scare you so you'll do better next time. Now they know there is no 'better' for you. I've seen a lot of portrayals of Chara as this bloodthirsty killer for years, but having seen this, the fact they beg you to do better really shines a new light on things.

One of Undertale biggest praises is that there's no correct way to play the game, one of the main themes of Undertale is morality and showing how the characters in the game are shades gray than black and white, the philosophy and the psychology of this game is just fascinating imo. Genocide route is just an attempt to get know more about the characters, it's like what if scenario, it's not about "you shouldn't Genocide" Genocide it's just pretty much a tragic route and chara at the end is just teaching you a lesson about consequences

Just saying this based off of various resources and passing it on. Flowey's dialogue right before you kill him goes on by itself, you cannot skip it but you cannot leave it because it progresses on its own without your input. You also kill Asgore without input from the player, walk towards Papyrus and skip his puzzles without input, etc. That's the character themselves doing that. When Flowey comes around it does this with his dialogue right until the very end, where he puts on the voice of Asriel and desperately asks you not to kill him.
The dialogue stops going by itself. You don't have to murder Flowey. But you, the player, do. Here Chara gives _you_ the choice, the final decision. Like they need confirmation of what they're about to do. If you go back now and reset the game you are free of consequence regarding the TP ending. It's only once you kill Flowey do you ever see Chara and screw up the pacifist ending as well. Chara gave you the choice of input to kill one last time. Chara _hesitated_

I like the details this game has, it gives everything a sense of weight, nothing is forgotten (through natural means that is).
I also appreciate this alternate dialog because it cements something really important about Chara's character. Chara isn't a mindless killer, they do things with purpose. Chara talks about the Geno Route like a mission. Beat enemies, get stronger, and win. With all that said and done what purpose would there be in redoing it, barring what Chara calls "Perverted Sentimentality". A desperate want to take apart and scour through every little detail of something you once held dear until your enjoyment of it is artificial, without purpose. Chara understands this, they're a completionist and nothing more. It's a game to them, like how it was to Flowey, it's just that they can and do see things through.
It's also interesting that Chara values the pacifist route, they don't hate monsters and don't particularly want them killed, but a win's a win. Chara's soul is an analog for the player's actions and I don't think they particularly like it when you fling it around all willy nilly without a reason, there's purpose behind replaying the Pacifist Route or Neutral Routes (secrets, missed information, yadda yadda) but not the Geno Route, it's not even fun.

A lot of people don't understand Chara because all they see is a little part of them, but look at it from their pov.
You fall down a hole in a mountain, according to Asriel, it wasn't a very good reason. (Most likely suicide) You have a hatred for humans. (Connect the dots) You were taken in by a monster family. One day you and the kid you look at as a brother are baking something and mistake butter for buttercups. You accidentally poison your new father. Even though it's a terrible situation, you laugh it off because everyone deals with pain differently. Eventually you learn that in order to save the civilization you've come to love, you need the souls of humans. You hatch a plot to poison yourself, fuse with your brother, kill a few humans so you can free everyone! But it doesn't work, you die and are awakened by another human years later. This new human has determination just like you. You're forced to follow them, narrate and tell them information about your home, but they murder everyone you loved. You come to realize that you were brought to life for this purpose and your soul is filled with hatred. At the end you destroy everything, thinking that that is your purpose, only to have everything happen blamed on you.

Chara is actually a representation of human nature; killing others in games because they're in your way, or because you're bored. Chara is all about the player being the strongest in every game, which is why she says to move on to the next world (game), and is confused when you beat genocide a second time because it wasn't for progress, it was a "perversion".

Chara isn't all evil, they are literally telling you to recreate the world and that ANOTHER path would be better suited. Chara is telling you to stop doing genocide and play a pacifist instead. Chara doesn't want to kill all their monster family, especially Asriel.
Donovan Howes I would suggest watching these videos by Judgment Boy. They were helpful and they prove why Chara isn’t evil. See, they did bad stuff, but nothing unforgivable. In fact, compared to other characters in the game, they didn’t even do anything that bad. The only character they killed was Frisk, and only after the latter killed every monster in the underground.

Every character is evil in a way though. Every enemy tries to kill you, Toriel tried to raise you rather than bringing you back to your actual parents, and Alphys was doing experiments where she injected people and animals with stuff and turned them into mutants, like some kind of Nazi doctor.
The game judges you for using the fight button, but really, everyone is messed up.

I'm super late, but I want to add something.
Everyone says how Chara is disgusted at you doing another Genocide route, and thus suggests you to do another route for a change, however, I think it's for different reasons, ones much more insidious.
If anyone remembers, doing a Post-Genocide / Souless True Pacifist Route ends with Chara taking over Frisk's body on the surface, as shown in the "Stay with Toriel" ending, at the same time, the "I have places to go" ending has very big implications that after taking over Frisk's body, Chara kills everyone on the surface, the monsters and even possibly other humans, at least that's how I interpreted it.
So the way I see Chara suggesting Frisk to do another route here, is that Chara is saying that there's not reason to do another Genocide to continue with the plans, you already sold your soul, so instead you should do a True Pacifist Route to liberate Chara on the surface to unleash hell there, unhinged and with no way to be stopped.
And if you ask me, that's the most evil thing I could think of.
That's certainly one way to interpret that (especially since we know Chara hated humans and is not a fan of seeing others dodge responsibilities). But I personally think they alter the pacifist ending to feel less good as punishment for doing the genocide run. As a way to hold you accountable.
It's basically like Chara saying, "You really don't care about consequences, do you?"
I always thought that Chara said it because they wanted you to do pacifist after genocide so that they could fulfil their wish of gaining power, and doing another genocide doesn't really help them 'cause they already have your SOUL.
