Im from a family of those who have served and i have seen the good and the bad of serving our country. Thank you for this video and keeping the soliders in the forefront this video.
This song with the video always gets the tears going. I listen to 5FDP all the time. Ivan is definitely a great singer. Any of the songs are great to react to. The Tragic Truth would be a good one to react to as it shows him fighting his demons of alcoholism. I come from a military family and this song always gets me. Ive have nothing but respect for the service. Thank you.
I can never get through this song with out crying but it is by far one of my all time favorites. 5FDP is such an amazing band. You sound definitely listen to more of them.
This song breaks me every time I hear it. My nephew was a proud Marine. He enlisted when he was 18. The day after he got home from his 5th deployment in 2015, we got the call that he had become one of the 22 a day. He was 25 years old.
These guys have so many good songs. Going back to their early days with The Bleeding, Coming Down and Never Enough to other songs like Jekyll and Hyde, Sham Pain, The Tragic Truth, I Apologize and many many more
This band gets too much hate, they have some amazing songs throughout their whole discography. Their first 4 albums are great especially that first one.
@@davidpoole7098 Nickelback hate is easy. Every song sounds the same, they never try to evolve or change. They actively sacrificed creativity for profit. It's pop music not rock, and that's fine, but keep them off my rock stations and in my rock concerts. FFDP gets hate because Ivan Moody is an asshole, he knows it and he doesn't care who says it about him or who he pisses off. It doesn't bother me, at least he's got something to say and is willing to take a stand but a lot of people don't think that way.
Yeah, I can't even say I'm a metal fan anymore because there's no bigger group of elitist assholes than metal fans. Would rather not be grouped in with them
Army veteran - I can't begin to tell you how many times I have watched this video. Still to this day, it breaks me every single time... We need to do better for our brothers and sisters. Thank you for taking the time to do this Knox!
Thanks for reacting to this... Nov 1 of this year will mark 20 years ago when I hugged my only 2 sons goodbye and left for Afghanistan. What returned was just a human trying to comprehend why I was still even living for the next decade. I made awful choice's and probably broke hearts of some close people. 20 years later and I got to put my 3rd son to bed tonight after he had an exciting toddler day. I hope all you brothers and sisters that return keep fighting through the fog and dark times for the days when the sunlight breaks through a while. Therapy, stoicism, cannabis and nature are a good start if anyone is still lost reading this. ❤
Thanks for this reaction Knox! I get to watch FFDP in concert in July. So excited. This whole song is an emotional moment. Two of my favorite by FFDP is American Capitalist and under and Over It. Great songs
My brother is in the air force while my grandfather and great grandfather were both veterans. So this hits hard for me. Every time I watch that video I think of what my grandfather and great grandfather went through, as well as what my little brother might go through in the future. It leads me to give a helping hand whenever possible.
I grew up in a military town so i have much respect for our veterans. One of my close friends (he was my AA dad) was a Vietnam War veteran. He used to tell me stories about how he was treated when he came back home after the war. He used to cry, and that broke my heart. Terry always reminded me of someone who was supposed to be in Tombstone, AZ during the old west times. He had a hard exterior, but a very gentle heart. I cry every time I watch this video. The homeless man at the end was the soldier that saved the man that walked up to him. He saw him and wanted to do what he could to save his life in return. A soldier will do whatever they can to never leave a soldier behind. They take care of each other, and we as American citizens should do whatever we can to help our soldiers live a happy life. We owe them that and so much more.
As a veteran, I’ve heard this song but never saw the video until now. My wife found me in tears. No words, just hugs. My dad was a Force Recon Marine who served in Vietnam. He was not the same when he came home. I only reconnected with him right as I enlisted. Thanks to all the fellow vets.
10:01 he sounds the same live. Love this band and how much they support military. He stops his shows to honor them, gives them HIS personal items, its one of my favorite concerts i have ever been to because of that. I will never understand how people don't like this band.
These guys put on an amazing show. And at each show they show respect and honor to all the veterans in attendance. It is such an awesome portion of the show. This band is very outspoken about the fact that veterans deserve so much more than they are given. But I do hope that you will check out other songs from them!
Got to see them live in 2018. Met a vet who was my 1st time, best friend in the pit. This song live was one of a kind. They were with Breaking Benjamin and Bad Wolfs opening. They killed it!
Well said Knox. Ive never understood why so many people fight or have fought for their country and yet appreciation is hardly seen anymore for anyone/anything let alone for their service. To all the veterans out there, or any current soldiers, I thank you for your service.
I was active duty in the Marine Corps 14 years. Deployed 6 times to war zones for various reasons, most that I don’t agree with. I didn’t go for the politicians that sent me there. I went for my brothers to the left and right of me. I went for my wife and daughters, but I came back a different man. I have been on the verge of making the dumbest decision of my life on more than one occasion, but luckily my support system is very strong and have pull me up time and time again. Thank you Knox for covering this song and bringing light to the veterans who struggle daily. It means the world to many of us. Believe it or not, just seeing this video could have brought a veteran from the brink and been what they needed to hear to help them through another day.
No matter how many times ive watched this video i still cry. My ex was almost homeless when he got back from his first tour in Afghanistan and me and my fiance let him move in with us, didnt even charge him rent. Id do it again too. I will never understood how friends and family can just turn their backs on our soldiers. I understood not letting a stranger move in but how many have family and friends that dont offer help. Yes it can be difficult but its more difficult for them when their on their own without any help or support. Just being there or offering them a bed can help alot.
I'm an Air Force veteran and this song always hits deep because i have know friends that are no longer with us. i always listen to this song at least once a week so that i can keep their memories alive inside me. i will always donate to any/all of those organizations that i possibly can. i have been personally close to being one of those 22 a day, and my wife will never know what timing she had when she came into my life and helped heal me without even knowing it. i can never thank her enough for always being there and almost 2 years ago giving me a daughter that words can never explain the love i have for her. if i could physically continue to serve i would do it in a heart beat just to know that i am doing everything i can to protect my family.
You should check out "Remember Everything" next! Either that, or "The Pride". They're two completely different styles of metal, but both incredible songs!
I can’t help but cry every time I hear this song and think of all my battle buddies that didn’t make it back home. Some of them coming up on 14 years gone. We were just kids in 08’ graduating high school and never knew what was in store. I wish we had more resources and help for veterans.
I heard this song on a friend's playlist while helping him out with renovations on a house. I later looked up the video out of curiosity because I liked the song and I wasn't prepared for its message. What's crazy is the friend who had the song on his playlist by letting me help work on the house renovation helped me out of a run and through a time where I was not feeling my best mentally. And it wasn't by talking about my issues it was about getting me out my families house and giving me something to do. I'm still not where I want to be but this song is apart of the start of my recovery and I know I'll get there eventually. How ever I hope that more veterans get the help they need. They more than deserve help, appreciation and recognition for their services
Us army vet, combat arms in the 101st Airborne Division. This song and video gets me everytime. Ive been homeless, married 3x now. Diagnosed with PTSD, and a list of other thingsfrom my 2 deployments. Been blown up, shot at, returned fire the whole 9. This video is an eye opener. And honestly one of the few things i feel any emotion from now. At 19 i didnt get the weight of it. But pushing 40, now i do and its tough. Thanks for caring Knox.

This video is one of the few things that can bring tears to my eyes, it does every time i watch it.. Any veterans seeing this video, I appreciate your sacrifice to this country more than words in a comment can do justice.
I'm not a vet, but my family are all combat vets, my brother served in Iraq, my cousin as well, my grandpa Vietnam, and great grandpa Korea. I have mad respect for all vets and this gets me every time I watch it.
I'm a Navy veteran. This video always gets to me. I showed it to other vets at college and it got them, too. It's such a powerful video and the song is amazing. Love 5FDP. Great choice!
I'm currently 29, Marine Corps prepared me for so much, but nothing prepared me for the mental battle between feeling if I did anything good and was all the bad justified. I was severely injuried to the point that i was wheelchair bound and lost the ability to walk or feel my feet. Being told I'd never walk again, may need to amputate my feet, and all the past pushed me over the edge quite a few times and nearly became a statistic, but something saved me or stopped me everytime. Eventually i pushed myself harder everyday to walk again. Now I'm walking without a cane, using braces, still can't feel my feet, but thats fine. I feel mostly normal now. I've used that knowledge and experience to help others. Just by talking to them, can fix so much because many just want someone to listen. I've experienced a lot in the last 11 years of my life between military, post-service, injuries, and mental health. Im happy to say i havent had those thoughts in a few years, but so many are still suffering. I try to help as many as i can. Any chance to listen to a veteran, may just save their life.
At the end of the video he said "you know me. you saved my life brother. its gonna be ok." i come from a family of Army Marines and Navy here. Thank you all who served and continue to serve.
Ty knox. Im a navy submarine vet. 3rd generation vet my great grandfather norval nelson stormed the beaches my grampa n u uncle were army rangers. Ur heartfelt message to everyone was amazing
My grandfather served with the 1st Marine Division during World War II as an automatic rifleman and earned a Purple Heart and Presidential Unit Citation during the battle of Okinawa. He never talked about his time in the Marines and never let on that he had PTSD of any kind but we knew. He couldn't stand to be around live fireworks. He was lucky enough to be able to go to our local VA hospital for doctors appointments when my grandparents moved to Florida in the early 50's. I always thought it was great that they covered his health care because of his income. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in July and died October 18, 2002 just 9 days shy of his 77th birthday. His motto was once a Marine, always a Marine.
“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him” - G.K. Chesterton If there are any men or women who have served our country who are reading this, thank you for your service.
Im glad u caught the one vet recognized the other that served with him. Did you catch the vet being arrested had the same tattoo, which makes them service brothers. Thus the respect of taking off the cuffs. Powerful video. They have many powerful songs, id suggest u check them out.
As a US Army Vet of OEF I love 5FDP for their support of the military and veterans this song every time I hear it breaks me I wish all my battle buddies across all branches the best and if your struggling please reach out to someone! I lost my brother who was part of the 22 a day please don’t add to that total your life matters you are worth something!
I am a disabled veteran who fights every day to keep my demons at bay. I have been homeless at one point. I lost a couple brothers to suicide which almost broke me. This song twists my guts every time. I would give anything for my brothers.
I'm not ex military. I am contractor and I was in Iraq and Afghanistan for 15 years. I've worked for and along side hundreds of our servicemen. This song is quite literally the only thing on earth that brings me to tears. I can't stand up when I hear it. To anyone else who was over there and who is struggling, you are in my prayers every single night. I hope you find the help that our government can't be bothered to find for you. I sincerely wish there was more I could do and I'd help all of you if I could. Just know there are plenty of us thinking about you and praying for you all over the nation.
I served 4 years in the Marines, ad I've lost too many friends to the demons that haunt us vets. I have moments of I guess imposter syndrome where I don't believe I was in the military at all. I dissociate alot from my military self because it changes you as a person, and the process of leaving the military doesn't do much for preparing you for the civilian world. I've been out for 9 years and still struggle daily with thoughts of being a statistic, my wife is a vet as well and she is my anchor back to reality. I listen to this song atleast once a week and it still brings me to tears, reminding me of the friends I've lost over the past years. Thank you for introducing more people to this video. It's beautiful and painful, but I don't regret the decision I made as a kid to join and fight. But I gained immense mistrust in our institutions, and I don't think that will ever go away Love your reactions sir, keep on keeping on
My dad was a veteran. He recently passed away due to ODing. He suffered from severe PTSD and other mental issues. In the end, I really think it killed him. He turned to drugs to cope even though we did everything we could to help him. This video still makes me cry.
Like other ex-army vets, myself included, there is something so emotional about this. We can resonate with older vets who were in Iraq, Desert Storm, and even Vietnam. Personally, I did two tours of Afghanistan, and both times I believe I lost pieces of myself there. My family tells me I'm not the same person, and I know that the person I was died in Afghanistan. Serving with the British army, they failed me, like so many of my brothers. But I hope my international brothers, wherever you served, are doing well. I know the struggle, as I fought it for two years after leaving the army. I abused alcohol and drugs, but now I'm finally getting help. I hope you guys can too, if you're not already.

yes I've been waiting for this day. I'm an army vet of 14 years and this song always gets me close to tears
You jumped into reacting to 5FDP at a perfect song to do so. What an incredible song. Every time I listen to it I’m constantly reminded about how lucky we truly do have it in life and that a lot of people take things for granted daily. Thanks Knox. Love the content 🙏
Amazing
US Army vet
Feel every THING
every time I hear this song
Im from a family of those who have served and i have seen the good and the bad of serving our country. Thank you for this video and keeping the soliders in the forefront this video.
The part when the little girl gives the guy a picture and the mom pulls her away is so heart breaking
Thank you.
This is my favorite "respect the troops" kind of song
Thank you for reacting to this song 🙏🏼 I am in a family of some vets myself. Thank you to all of those whom served and welcome home.
So sorry for the loss of your brave nephew. So many demons and too little help for those battling them. 🥲
These guys have so many good songs. Going back to their early days with The Bleeding, Coming Down and Never Enough to other songs like Jekyll and Hyde, Sham Pain, The Tragic Truth, I Apologize and many many more
I think its called you but thats a great one too.
Way of the fist, meet the monster. Early 5fdp has some good stuff
Does anyone notice the way Jacolby (the African American soldier) picks Ivan up, it's the same exact way Ivan picked him up when he was wounded.....
This band gets too much hate, they have some amazing songs throughout their whole discography.
Their first 4 albums are great especially that first one.
They're the new Nickelback. Everyone says they hate them but never say why.
@@davidpoole7098 lead singer is a drunk who beats his wife, unfortunately
@@davidpoole7098 Nickelback hate is easy. Every song sounds the same, they never try to evolve or change. They actively sacrificed creativity for profit. It's pop music not rock, and that's fine, but keep them off my rock stations and in my rock concerts.
FFDP gets hate because Ivan Moody is an asshole, he knows it and he doesn't care who says it about him or who he pisses off. It doesn't bother me, at least he's got something to say and is willing to take a stand but a lot of people don't think that way.
@@ididntdoit157Ivan's far from an asshole 😂
Yeah, I can't even say I'm a metal fan anymore because there's no bigger group of elitist assholes than metal fans. Would rather not be grouped in with them
Great reaction. Another song by them that is heart wrenching is "Coming Down"
Army veteran - I can't begin to tell you how many times I have watched this video. Still to this day, it breaks me every single time... We need to do better for our brothers and sisters.
Thank you for taking the time to do this Knox!
Spanish Army veteran here. 24 years of service (94-2018). I served with USARMY several times around Europe. Big hugh to my brothers in arms!!
6:43 to quote the great George Carlin: "If crime fighters fight crime, and firefighters fight fire, what do you think freedom fighters fight?"
Thanks for this reaction Knox! I get to watch FFDP in concert in July. So excited. This whole song is an emotional moment.
Two of my favorite by FFDP is American Capitalist and under and Over It. Great songs
the role reversal at the end is fantastic. Captain saved him on the battlefield and now he gets to save him in life. Amazing video
Who else is crying? Beautiful song tho✌️🖤
I love this song, clip and the meaning behind it, so I clicked instantly when I saw this video!
Knox my brotha you have a way with words that helps put lyrics in perspective. Repect bro much love, great reaction as usual.
Well said Knox. Ive never understood why so many people fight or have fought for their country and yet appreciation is hardly seen anymore for anyone/anything let alone for their service. To all the veterans out there, or any current soldiers, I thank you for your service.
I knew you would get to this one eventually. Nice gesture letting the video run until the end, did not expect anything less from you.
This song hits so hard and for a good reason.
You are one of my favorite reactors. Thank you for doing this song. As a veteran, this song hits home.
This song FFDP🥹💔Thank You to all the Service Men & Women 🫶🏽✌🏽🇺🇸
🎶Music heals souls!!! ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹
On a close call to 1 million subs. Keep it up and make our love for music grow more
Us army vet, combat arms in the 101st Airborne Division.
Do more from five finger death punch they have alot of good songs
Knox, 23yrs of service, 3 branches, 10 countries. God bless my brothers and sisters, God bless the Patriots, & God bless the United States. Thank you for reacting to this.
next five finger death punch song you gotta hear is their cover of LL cool J's mama said knock you out which features tech n9ne. it was either on this album or the other album the righteous side of hell (dual release, the other side of heaven was one album, the righteous side of hell is the other half)
This video is one of the few things that can bring tears to my eyes, it does every time i watch it.. Any veterans seeing this video, I appreciate your sacrifice to this country more than words in a comment can do justice.
I believe they are all veterans, so pretty much all of their songs can have a general meaning, but also a specific military meaning
None of them are veterans, but they do so much for our community. I'm a Marine Corps vet and have followed their work for years.
@@Spotastic9 ah ok. Cool to know. I don't remember where I heard that from. Great music with great meaning though
@@blakewilson7762 It frequently gets passed around as if true. Other veterans I know have thought the same. I just like correcting misinformation.
I'm not a vet, but my family are all combat vets, my brother served in Iraq, my cousin as well, my grandpa Vietnam, and great grandpa Korea. I have mad respect for all vets and this gets me every time I watch it.
Love FFDP! Thanks for this reactiong bro! Brought so much more out of this song for me! Keep being you bro 👌🤙🤌🔥❤️
Such a powerful message and sing.
Please do more five finger. Always a powerful message. Check out gone away, coming down, and tragic truth
My whole family is military and this song hits home so hard
Thanks for reacting to this. FFDP does a great cover of the Offspring song Gone Away. Another great song by them is I Apologize.
That spot where the soldiers reconnected, they slowed it down enough to be able to lip read. "You know me brother" "you saved my life"
The black and white guys on front and back of song are the key to the song, tears!
I'm a Navy veteran. This video always gets to me. I showed it to other vets at college and it got them, too. It's such a powerful video and the song is amazing. Love 5FDP. Great choice!
when he says "you know me. you saved my life brother" with tears in his eyes. unbelievable.
Coming Down is an amazing song, such a STRONG message. I don't want to give it away, it's a must watch video...
“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him” - G.K. Chesterton
If there are any men or women who have served our country who are reading this, thank you for your service.
But I gained immense mistrust in our institutions, and I don't think that will ever go away
Love your reactions sir, keep on keeping on
My dad was a veteran. He recently passed away due to ODing. He suffered from severe PTSD and other mental issues. In the end, I really think it killed him. He turned to drugs to cope even though we did everything we could to help him. This video still makes me cry.
Thank you to everyone who have served this country. Love you all like family.
Remember everything is another song by them that has the same level of depth as this one. Beautiful.
This reaction... by far is the best breakdown and analysis of this song and ive seen atleast most reactions to this song and you have done the best by a million miles! As always! You even caught that devilish undertone at the beginning and thats something ive missed that throught the thousands of times ive listened to this song and thank you for helping spread awareness of of veteran homelessness and mental health!
Your breakdown of this song is so damn perfect. I love your analysis of music. You even pointed out notes I didn't even spot after all these years of this song - like the devil part being deeper!
Everyone who served. Thank you for your service. You guys are better men then me.
This is SUCH an incredible song, and its so fitting that it has such an epic video .... i LOVE this .. all of it ... five finger death punch is such an awesome rabbit hole to get lost in... i hope you react to more of their stuff.. if you like this you'll love the rest, or at least most of it... ENJOY KNOX!
