If he does not confirm the reliability of the paper filters, I will look for a replacement for them. I used paper filters based on research findings from Karean scientists.

    The valves are a great contribution to the homemade mask discussion. Filter cartridge medium could be improved to include activated carbon and commercial air or vaccum filters.

    • @peter4210
      @peter4210 4 роки тому +1

      Correction to original comment due to new knowledge:
      a vacuum filter and some commercial filters will do the trick if you take care and clean them after usage so you can reuse them and it is better then using random pieces of tissue but they cannot filter out viruses at 100%
      adding activated carbon to the filter will increase the efficiency but activated carbon reduce in efficiency over time as well a become bacterial colonies. they eventual become deactivated.
      Unless you can reactivate charcoal or clean the other filter materials, or even know the proper protocol to use a mask and not contaminate yourself anyway. Not wearing a mask is safer because you wont be over confident and expose yourself more then what you can deal with

      @@SW-ii5gg yup, that's not re activating it at all. You would have better luck running hot steam trough it even if it is not supper heated. If it is getting filled from harmful chemicals you want to just throw it away. If your using it for a virus, a disinfectant like alcohol could do the job but eventually it will be clogged or the virus wont be getting killed by the alcohol.

      @@xbugz3579 The SARS-COV-2 virus could be airborne with out the assistance of particles. Secondly water is a fluid, one that can evaporate quickly in our atmosphere.
      If your wearing a surgical mask, and you were lucky enough that the infected droplets did not go around the mask and into your nose/mouth and actually stopped on the fabric, you now have infected water in the fabric. That fabric was designed for the doctor not to spit on your wound during surgery and not to be worn all day against infections. Trough you breathing, the water will eventual be pushed trough and into your mouth/nose or the droplets will dry out, leaving only the viruses in the fabric to await a strong inhalation.
      Mask and gloves work in hospitals because the doctors and nurses fallow strict procedures to make sure they take out the gloves and swap the mask with out making contact with the infected surface. They also swap them frequently. here in Canada they are investigating way's to reuse that equipment due to the international covert war to hoard the resourses. But The average joe is too misinformed to know any procedures.
      That is why you either wear the right stuff and take care of it properly or you don't. Over confidence is more dangerous then not having a mask as staying 3m away from people.

      @@xbugz3579 No, I am just Hypochondriac. I did do some years in college on social science but I switched to Computer science after getting Bord of teachers trowing science trough the window.
      The information I have is available if you do your research properly. You can even look up how a n95 mask filters and why a pair of jeans in inappropriate to make a filter.
      Information on the misinformation done by governments is harder to find, my provincial goverment was open about the misinformation and just said to the public, that people in hospitals need them more then you. The WHO even talks on their reports of how they are Using the name COVID-19 for the virus not to scare the public when they themselves gave the real name of the virus which is SARS-CoV-2
      I have been looking at people making mask online to get an Idea on how to make my own mask but usually the filtration is not the best. I was still doing research on filters when I made my original comment so If I said Vacuum filters are shit here I am sorry, some of them are basically n95 or better.
      If you want to make activated charcoal yourself there is a guy on youtube called cody's Lab. The guys wears copper chain mail out of fantasy or some shit and his set ups look like a meth lab but it is a proper way to make activated charcoal. 3M Filtrete filters used for the home, MERV-13/MPR-1900 or higher rating. Rated by 3M to filter down to 0.3 microns (like an N95 mask but at a lower efficiency than a proper N95).

    Why bother with exhaust valve? It will not close in time and you chance some contamination. If you have much larger filter surface area maybe you can still breath but no need for the valve. Could be worth testing.

    • @sumadartson
      @sumadartson 4 роки тому

      I've been reading all the comments looking for someone who realizes the output valve is not only likely source of contamination but IS a source of contamination. If you have the virus or are asymptomatic and wear this you will continue to spread the infection. NO OUTPUT VALVES PEOPLE. I doubt anyone cares though.
