Nate you've said this in a few videos I've just been watching, and I think you need to follow up, because Mira says their P3 filter will not work for tear gas. It's in the FAQ section for that filter on their website.
I have the PMK-4 gas mask Russian army, rubberized hazmat chemical suit and hazmat boots, they are coming out with adapter hoses for Russian to 40 mm threads, the hoses allows for distant placement like in another bag or area for indirect exposure, could make a hepa filter bag than place your remote filter into that making the actual filter last longer, even a furnace filter cut up for a bag filter. in a survival SHTF longevity may be a key to long term survival when things are harder to come by. The rubberized suit came with feet or shoe soles but there not great foot wear made more for a indoor environment or to be used for a period than discarded after the operation is completed. for general uses it's great as it's washable with harsh cleaners, I cut the feet part off and will use the hazmat boots with the suit. Duck tape etc.. would be ideal to also accompany the kit loadout.
HEPA filters' rating is actually the particulate size they are *least* effective against, they are more effective the larger or smaller particles are from the rating
Hey there I'm a hazmat tech and I have to be fit tested every year. And when we wear our masks we must b we clean shaven and have the proper size mask as well. Then we get a card with the make model and size mask we were tested in.
Got mine in Israel . Sad to have to carry one every day but do what you have to. I was also given a bottle of K it's too stop radiation block it from the thyroid.
You will not have difficultys breathing when a filter witch activated carbon will expire. You will start to smell something when it expires. However the particle filter in the ABEK filter will clough and give you difficultys breathing.
I have a question, how should you keep your masks at the ready. So for example SHTF and it we need to grab them, and go....should they be in a plastic bag inside your go bag? Not hanging up IDK just trying to get a game plan
They do make a 40mm to 3M adapters. Should you want to be able to use those. Think eBay has them. This way your gas mask can use commercial non nbc filters. The SGE Infinity mask is a good option combined with the 40mm to 3M adapter, NBC-77 or VKF-450 should you just want one mask that does many things. You won't always want the nbc protection. That's where the Mira P3 filter comes in handy. If you want one filter that does most try the NBC-77. Want smoke protection added? VKF-450. Don't need smoke or nbc? Mira P3.
With HEPA filter, I can imagine coming out of a fall-out shelter to go into the garage to get a tool and it reducing the dose of settled radioactive particles. I've worn chemical carbon filter, they only handle so much and will saturate hence a good replacement schedule is important. I'd assume the most likely use is in the case of civil unrest if the police or military hit the neighborhood with tear gas. Gas mask and civilian respirators have limits, they typically in the case of the latter have a "protection factor" of 1 to 50 to 1 to 100 with that 1 part getting through. The masks look similar (not the same) to North brand respirator hence I'd guess the "protection factor' aka exposure factor is likely similar. I not sure if the North brand threads match NATO threads? I only worn the masks for about 4 to 5 hours straight without a break. A means of drinking can be important. In an industrial setting you can leave the room or around to meet your biological needs.
A gas mask WILL help you if you're caught in a volcanic ash fallout storm. I used one during MT ST Helens dumped ash all over E WA. I rode in back of an open piuck-up truck with no respiratory issues wearing it.
I stocked up on these and filters back in December. Buy extra one for the kids. They mess with things and well it could get them killed if you don’t have en extra one.
You need to do an alternative cooking methods for if the grid does down. I've seen alot of videos the last 2 weeks of people buying a crap ton of food, but not buying ways to cook if there's no water pressure, electricity, or gas lines.
Prepper Canadian! Have you ever done a video about deworming medicine being essential? I just had pinworms and lost like 10 lbs because of it. In a survival situation that's a death sentence.
Do you need to keep the caps on the filters to keep it from ruining the shelf life ? How long will the filters last once you open them and have them connect to the mask ?
Man Slim I thought this video was going to blow...but I learned a couple of things I didn't know, like the length of usefulness when exposed to contaminants or just the shelf life...I wonder if those masks have an adapter for a camelback or if they come in Desert Tan, Coyote Brown or FDE...if not, well I just invented them..good video... update.. I'm stareing at the thumbnail and I see a hose hanging down I'm guessing that's a drinking adapter...
You should have mentioned about the threads of the gas mask filters since there's 3 different 40mm threads which is STANAG (NATO thread), GOST (Warsaw Pact/Russia/Eastern European thread), and DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung or in English German institute for standardization thread). DIN threads mostly found nowadays in industrial 40mm but not all the time. STANAG filters are the most common filters but they won't fit GOST threaded masks like GP-5 and PMG. GOST filters fit all three types of threads just like DIN but it's a bit of a controversial topic among the gas mask collectors community. Same goes to the myth of 40mm standardised/normalised thread which is said used used by Israel and China but in reality, Israel uses STANAG while China uses GOST yet unlike other countries, gas masks from these countries somehow fit with any of 3 threads. You should make a vid about it or at least make a video to warn about the threads. Either way, your videos are great. Edit: Sorry for my grammar. English is my second language.

Which is better for escaping forest fires, a fire mask/smoke hood or a gas mask? Why are smoke hoods more expensive? The biggest risk for my family is forest fires in our neighborhood, so I want to keep something on hand that anyone can easily use in an emergency.
Smoke hoods are less expensive because they're disposable. A carbon monoxide filter would be Best for forest fires, although all the filters will work for that purpose it's the only one that will filter out monoxide.

I'm using a MIRA MB90 in an industrial environment. The one thing I have been searching for are filter canisters that allow the addition of a pre filter since I get so much dust and metal into the filter which wears it out pre maturely. If I can do this I can change the pre filter often and the particulate filter less often. I know 3M has some filters and pre filters but I don't know much about them or if they would work. Do you have any insight on products that have pre filter support?
The P3 filter filters out 99,4% of particulars whit a size of 0.3 micron smaler particulars are filtered out better due to the effect of Brownian motion on smaler particulars. A part of the filtration effect on a P3 filter is it electrostatic charge of the filter material, the lose of the charge is the shelf life of the P3 filter. The color code on the gray en green filter is Brown [A] (looks a bit like orange in the video) means it filters out organic gasses and vapors, Gray [B] non-organic (chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen cyanide (hydrocyanic acid)), Yellow [E] acidic gasses and Sulphur dioxide, Green [K] ammonia and ammonia deviates, Red [Hg] mercury vapor dark Bleu [NO] Nitrous gases, including nitric oxide, Orange (not on these filters and are special reactor filters) Radioactive iodine, including radioactive advisable to reuse a NOCO filter!
Practically speaking, a small P3 filter is all you really need, whether it comes to viruses and nuclear dust. Better to have many of those than few of the thicc boys.
You said the green metal one has a 14 year life, you meant a 14 year 'shelf life' right? If it has a 14 year "LIFE" then I definitely want a couple of those! But if it's only 'shelf life' then I'd go with the MIRA that has a 20 year shelf life. You also said that the middle one was equivalent to the MIRA, if that's so then can you please tell me what more the green metal one filters that the MIRA does not? Please clarify if you get a chance to read this. Thank you very much!

Which gas mask is the most comfortable? I have seen pictures of nurses/doctors with pressure ulcers from their masks after prolonged usage, i want to avoid such injuries.
Silversurfer It really has a lot to do with the shape of your face. You should test them in person for a proper seal, and definitely have a clean shave when in use, if possible. A sure way to test if it’s functioning properly is have someone spray your face with pepper spray. (Outdoors of course) You will very quickly find out if your mask is sealed correctly. Lol.
@LegoGuy87 I went through the gas chamber several times. My seal was always good, but the bite on your skin teaches too. We had to remove our gas mask in boot. So, I know very well what happens. I wasn’t referring to a mask such as the N95. Edit: the testing also creates confidence in your mask. Especially for new users who can often struggle with the confinement aspect of the mask. Just a thought.
I'm not prepping for chemical warfare. In some scenarios I would prefer to die. I am at peace with God. Suffering is only temporary while God is eternal.
Can you use those extension tubes to get the filters away from your face? It would be easier to use 2 or 3 if they were mounted to a place carrier instead of my face.
Do these filters need to come wrapped in vacuum sealed Mylar? Or a mylar not vacuum sealed? I’m getting mixed answers. And should I vacuum seal it myself? Has it already been shortened by arriving in mail without any bag or seal?
thewhitewolf thank you for the info, the CM-2M Kids Gas Mask is sold out on Mira with only hoods available. Any thoughts on the pressurized hoods? I have a child 4 years old Also will measure out the Mestel and see if the small mask will fit, my guess is the small is too large. Any other options?

So us neighbours to your east have just learned that our premiere is mulling the idea of a lockdown in the name of the Chinese cough....... got to say you were right once again. Keep up the good content and we’ll keep overlooking the fact you’re from saskabush lol
I really like your channel. Excellent content and it always stays withing the content of the title. Thanks for being so thorough
makes the soldier keep going longer. thanks man.
Nate you've said this in a few videos I've just been watching, and I think you need to follow up, because Mira says their P3 filter will not work for tear gas. It's in the FAQ section for that filter on their website.
Excellent instructional vid! clear well metered speech and concise to the point information
Great stuff! Perfect timing. Just got my mask and one activated carbon filter so far.
Would love more talk about decontaminating and how to do it.
Decon is not something you can do by yourself without a highly specialized setup.
@@crossbowsniper Thanks for the reply!
Thank you very much for letting us know about the gas mask and filters. We will have to see what is in Australia.
HEPA filters' rating is actually the particulate size they are *least* effective against, they are more effective the larger or smaller particles are from the rating
This has been very helpful. Thank you.
Wow I didn't know that respirator filters expired! Thanks for the heads up.
Hey there I'm a hazmat tech and I have to be fit tested every year. And when we wear our masks we must b we clean shaven and have the proper size mask as well. Then we get a card with the make model and size mask we were tested in.
Sir pls make a video on ur biceps routine, they look vascular
Great video! All you need to know in simple words. Thanks!
Great info on tear gas and CN gas being particulates not an actual gas, thx I did not know this.
Thank you 👍
Great video CP!!
Nice studio setup, nice lighting too....
Mira P3.
My GF wears one of those when I eat chilly.
The point of the 3 ports is for shouldering a rifle so you can move the filters so it doesn't get in the way of the gun
Thanx, just the info i needed.
Can you please teach us how to make radiation filters for bunkers ( maybe we can make small filters for gas masks too)
With HEPA filter, I can imagine coming out of a fall-out shelter to go into the garage to get a tool and it reducing the dose of settled radioactive particles.
They last the cheaper ones you got technically last 20 and the Myra safety 20year one lasts 25 if sealed and stored properly
Great video! Thank you!
Thanks, your video was so helpful
Some advice : For both gasmask and filters, only go for Dräger brand. Most other brands are plain junk.
I have been using a Drager half face mask, and it is by far the most comfortable.
Hard to find for most people outside the EU. I bought rd40 filters made by Drager and they are great, this was way before the plandemic.
Agree, Drager products have years of industry use, along with 3M filters.
Whatching this is 2023 like, weve seen 3 situations this year. Wow thats literally like 3 days in 2023
A gas mask WILL help you if you're caught in a volcanic ash fallout storm.
Thx bro, i just got my m50 gas mask, this is helpful!
Unfortunately M50 don't take 40mm
Thanks, I knew very little about gas masks.
Nevermind…. I asked my question before watching the video in its entirety…… he answers my question in the video ! 😊
Very helpful and interesting info.
Every house in the world should have one mask for each person..
Thanks CP!
Thank You, very informative.
Please make a video on how to make your own filters
What about construction masks . Like a full face respirator with good filters particularly that 3M brand. Could you do a video on that.
I asked that above, P100 filters and a wide assortment of chemical scrubbing media for any purpose at a good price
I’m a militaria collector over the lasts four years get the surplus gear it’s just as good as the modern stuff as long at its 40mm and preferably one filter not the double filter bologna, I’ve used 60mm and 40mm they don’t make 60 so go for a 40
Exactly, why pay 300-400 for a mask when you can buy genuine military surplus which are almost in new unused condition. I have Avon FM12 and Forsheda A4 that are the most comfortable masks i bought, had israeli ones and re sold them when people were panic buying bought for 40$ and sold for 180 :)
@@CyprusTM just reading that comment made me hate you
BEFORE INSTALLING FILTER TO YOUR MASK REMOVE THE PLUG! I read somewhere trained members of military in high stress put on the mask before pulling the plug and nearly suffocated.
Excellent tutorial! I'm considering the MIRA model, but it's quite expensive.
@@CanadianPrepper Thank you! I was looking at the iEvac American certified smoke hood/fire mask, and it looks expensive compared to the gas masks. I'll check your links for gas mask recommendations. Happy New Year!
Good information, thank you.
I have the Israeli gas masks filters, im wondering what the self life is for those?
So if I want to go near an erupting volcano, the correct filter to get would be the VKF-450 Carbon Mono filter?
Well done!
The color code on the gray en green filter is Brown [A] (looks a bit like orange in the video) means it filters out organic gasses and vapors, Gray [B] non-organic (chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen cyanide
(hydrocyanic acid)), Yellow [E] acidic gasses and Sulphur dioxide, Green [K] ammonia and ammonia deviates, Red [Hg] mercury vapor dark Bleu [NO] Nitrous gases, including nitric oxide, Orange (not on these filters and are special reactor filters) Radioactive iodine, including radioactive
advisable to reuse a NOCO filter!
Are nerve agent is concern outdoors? Smallest mask to survive nuclear fallout?
That hurt seeing you open it for demonstration lol
Practically speaking, a small P3 filter is all you really need, whether it comes to viruses and nuclear dust.
Better to have many of those than few of the thicc boys.
great Video
You said the green metal one has a 14 year life, you meant a 14 year 'shelf life' right? If it has a 14 year "LIFE" then I definitely want a couple of those! But if it's only 'shelf life' then I'd go with the MIRA that has a 20 year shelf life. You also said that the middle one was equivalent to the MIRA, if that's so then can you please tell me what more the green metal one filters that the MIRA does not? Please clarify if you get a chance to read this. Thank you very much!
@Nate.
What mask do you recommend for someone who Has to wear glasses?
I can’t function without mine and I’m in the market for a mask. But it needs to function While I wear my glasses.
I’m wondering if I’m stuck having to wear a partial face mask..
According to the MIRA Safety website, the CM-6M is compatible with the 3M Safety 6878 spectacle kit. I have the CM-6M, although I do not have the spectacle kit. Not sure if the Mestel mask has a kit available. Just FYI, gas masks are not compatible with standard glasses as they would break the seal.
@@bradjacobs6919 that’s my worry. If I get a full face mask will there be leaks around the arms of my glasses
honestly do you still have trail hiking first aod basics. ( quick stitch thingies because i fogott the exist, maybe some of the chest wound patches..? the fvk else was i after... first aid stuff..
Which gas mask is the most comfortable? I have seen pictures of nurses/doctors with pressure ulcers from their masks after prolonged usage, i want to avoid such injuries.
Most comfortable mask i have are the AVON FM12 (bought for 80$) And the Swedish Forsheda A4 that i bought for 139$ and is in new condition.
Thanks for the info!
Top Video man! Ty a lot
Your a beast dude!
I'm not prepping for chemical warfare. In some scenarios I would prefer to die. I am at peace with God. Suffering is only temporary while God is eternal.
I'm not impressed at all with you.
👍
Good 4 u
Thank you
Can you use those extension tubes to get the filters away from your face? It would be easier to use 2 or 3 if they were mounted to a place carrier instead of my face.
Do these filters need to come wrapped in vacuum sealed Mylar? Or a mylar not vacuum sealed? I’m getting mixed answers. And should I vacuum seal it myself? Has it already been shortened by arriving in mail without any bag or seal?
What about masks for kids, how can parents protect their children? Thanks, great info as always
Mira safety sells masks for kids, Mestel safety has a small size that can fit kids
thewhitewolf thank you for the info, the CM-2M Kids Gas Mask is sold out on Mira with only hoods available. Any thoughts on the pressurized hoods?
I have a child 4 years old
Also will measure out the Mestel and see if the small mask will fit, my guess is the small is too large.
Any other options?
I use drager brand mask, mine is L size, I am male adult, there was also M and S sizes. I'm going to buy one in S size for my 9 year old, will see how good it fits.
@@fspa427 Mira has a mask with PAPR combination for children. Breathing through a PAPR is much easier compared to filter directly attached to mask. PAPR (powered air purifying respirator)
The ParticleMax are listed as ULPA merv 20 not HEPA.
