We won't desire the same things in Heaven that we do on earth. I think those relationships will continue but love of God is deeper then we can imagine. Imagine instead of being married to your spouse, you are both given the charge of carrying out an errand for Elohim. I think that would bring much more joy.
Have faith that our Heavenly father knows w.hats best for us. DON'T apply human thinking , leave it in our father's hand ,for his thoughts are higher than our thoughts.
That is my view, but so many believers on these channels want to "buy" an entrance ticket to Heaven, and be guaranteed admission whether or not they follow the rules. Heaven is not a city of individual throne-rooms where the proud can sit wearing their royal regalia, and ignore everybody they don't like. It is a community of souls, bound together by Love. Any misfits or worse, troublemakers will receive the same treatment that Satan got, else religion has no purpose. Think of the wedding guest in the parable who turned up in casual attire.
it's been said many times that we will be together again in heaven.. it's been said that we will know our mother, father, brothers, sisters, grandfather, grandmother, and so on so I would think we will know who our husbands, and wife's are.. we may not go on being married in heaven, but maybe we will.. it all depends on many factors.. the only one who knows for sure is "GOD" lets wait and, see what he decides..
Unfortunately Jesus makes it very clear and I can’t remember which gospel it is here but he says to his apostles “there will be no marriage or giving in marriage in that time”, so I guess that is ultimately the answer to that question. But there is some confusion, to me as well actually, about the pre-tribulation oh sorry post tribulation saints whether they will or will not have glorified bodies as they will liveMove out that thousand years being able to marry so that the kingdom will be more populated. God knows us and what’s important to us, he will make sure you are happy in heaven. He will take care of you and provide you what makes you happy and what’s important to you. Although this doesn’t mean you can’t obey the lord, build your relationship stronger with him and you will work for him in heaven. He is amazing and he loves you and will provide you with many happy things and people.
I can only share an experience I had when my brain was torn during surgery and my heart beat dropped down to 33bpm. Somewhere while i was under, i had this incredible peace came over me and an angel, or the Lord Himself empathized with my sufferring and kindly asked me if i was ready to go! Without hesitation i said "yes", but then thought about my wife and 3young children and how they needed me, and changed my response. He confirmed with me of my decision, and mentioned something that communicated i would have some challenges. I was ok and i remember thinking "i gave my life to the Lord and received His salvation at age 19 and my day would come at another time😊
I love this thought. The one I love is in assisted living in a distant town and we can only visit by phone. He has congestive heart failure and could go at any time. He and I discuss Heaven a lot over the phone and pray for each other. I hope will still be friends in Heaven, too.

i can't believe we won't have second chances. God knew when we came to earth we would struggle and to great things but fall short of some other things. i can't imagine not seeing and being with my wife again. not to marry again but to continue the relationship. we're in a different place that's better than earth. i can't believe we can't be with our spouses again.

I agree! My husband died suddenly in an accident 2 years after we married. I feel like we didn't even have a chance. We didn't get to have the life we wanted. . I was heartbroken for years, all I was left with with pain and longing for him. This was 20 years ago. To think that I will never again be reunited with him as a husband wife is sad. It makes marriage seem almost pointless just to procreate here on Earth and then we go back to being non-married. 😢

Hey Doc, in 2008 I had a terrible accident 9 people died due to broken laws, then my eldest Son died in November 2009,in January 2010 I committed suicide, I died 2 and both times I had these beautiful experiences where my Son Steve took me to the place he was at, our previous son who died at child birth was also their, I found great peace and love there, so much beauty, flowers and this big Beautiful tree that was so full of life, I now call it the tree of life, on the second time I died, my Son took me to a castle like building, then he went away and showed up opposite me in another castle like building, now these buildings were very Grey in color, there was a Grey cloud moving between us, and the more we leande over the walls our hands could not meet, he kept pulling further, then He said to me, "See Dad, this is how it will be if you die" you will never meat up with your family again. So now my faith in Jesus is Strong, my attitude of death has changed, I am actually looking forward to it. Its many more time more beautiful than Life as we know it. I just wanted to share my story. My mother and father loved each other very much. December 13th was their anniversary every single year. They were so happily married that my Dad couldn't imagine his life without my mother. And I know my mother felt the same way. They were married for 47 years. And the only reason why she lost him is because COVID 19 took my poor Dad's life just 10 days after his birthday which was supposed to be a happy day, but instead of t was very sad. He had to be rushed to the hospital because he got to where he couldn't breathe on his own. Not without a tube down his throat. So I can't imagine God putting my mother through anymore heartache by refusing to let her reunite with Dad in heaven and I know that he went to heaven. God loves them and Jesus knows how much it hurt her very much to lose him. It definitely hurt me a lot to lose him but with her it was a lot different. Because he was her HUSBAND for 47 years. She always wished that when it was time that God would take both of them because she didn't know how to deal with losing him and she never wanted to let him go. What would you say if it was a marriage consisting of two people who both were saved and both loved each other very much? They were always true to each other and always made it a point to do the same things together. Mom says every day that she would never remarry because nobody else could compare to such a good husband that she had. But the way she lost him was EXTREMELY painful for her. I mean, the doctors barely even let her see him in the hospital even when he was about to die! How heartless!😥💔

Heaven will perfect our relationships. Since there is no sin in heaven, our relationships with be even deeper and more significant. What you will call each other or experience, I do not know but you will recognize them and it will be glorious, beyond what our eyes have seen or our ears have heard!

Our limited, carnal minds cannot even begin to fathom the eternal depths of happiness, peace, joy, and excitement that will be ours, so much so, that the way that we relate to each other now cannot even be compared to how we will relate with each other and with God throughout eternity! The answer is in your Bibles. The frequency of the question shows how little believers bother to read their "text-book." The other consideration is that without a reform of self, no number of Second Chances can make any difference to the outcomes. We have all heard of "serial divorcees," who always say that it is their partner to blame. Such an approach can never work. It is probably behind the number of people who ask for a guaranteed ticket to enter Heaven, where they would be misfits.

When we die our souls die too it is your life in your mind it is what you are your memory love talent likes dislikes etc..it needs body for the soul to live again we will return to dust but we will have new bodies from Christ when he returns. My wife passed away seven months ago at Christmas after 51 years of marriage. I understand there is no marriage in heaven, but how could a loving God be so cold hearted to prevent my wife and I from sharing eternity together? I know beyond any reasonable doubt she is in heaven and I pray daily that she’s happy, will remember me and still love me if I’m fortunate enough to make it to heaven. And, why do so many other theologians share a such a different view on relationships in heaven, so contrary to yours?

My stepdad died two years ago and my mom is still grieving. 😢You're right that theologians don't all agree because, like many biblical subjects, the issue hasn't been settled. I mean no disrespect to Dr. Betters, but he's simply repeating the party line on this subject. The idea of transcending earthly marriage into a higher marriage to God, or visio beautifica, is really based on Augustinian, Platonic and Gnostic teachings. They minimized the physical/earthly while elevating the heavenly/spiritual as better and in that state, earthly things fall away or so they believe. I know of a couple of scholars that have views opposite of Betters.

When he read the question, he added the words "and but this time". Doing so supports his notion that the person who asked the question did not have a happy relationship with her husband. By leaving those extra words out, the question implies that she hopes to have the same happy relationship in heaven as she did on earth.

We both agree that we will use our relationship to glorify God in every way possible meaning we are basically together until we die for as long as we seek God first in our relationship it’s guaranteed to last. As you mentioned, in God’s eyes, husband and wife are brother and sister; and there will not be a second chance in heaven. This means that a husband and wife will not recognize each other in heaven? What about the children they had together. My oldest daughter passed in 2021. Will my daughter recognize me in heaven when my time comes? I am longing to see her. Please pray for me, my youngest daughter and my grandson (my oldest daughter’s son) for spiritual peace and acceptance for my daughter’s passing. Still hurts immensely. I heard this theory once. We are not given unto marriage in Heaven since Heaven is temporary it just means people will not be entering into marriage but what of us who died while married those bonds will not be broken or maybe we have a choice? We will be back to this physical Earth which God will redo over but without sin. Remember before the fall we were commanded to multiply and subdue. We will not spend eternity as eunuchs!

I've found Isaiah 65:17 and Psalm 145:16 have comforted me on that point. I think we can reasonably expect that we won't be left with a desire that cannot be satisfied.

Lose the love of your life and then say these things. My husband's dying hasn't deadened my love for him at all. If anything, I love him more than I ever did. How can a mother still be a mother to her deceased child, a grandmother to her grandchildren, a sister to her sister, a daughter to her mother in Heaven, but a wife not a wife? Why would we know those we loved on earth except in marriage? God's FIRST created relationship? Do we die and no longer love those we did on earth except God? The Word says, "Love never dies." How can things in Heaven be anything less than what we had on earth? You presume she was asking about re-incarnation. I do not think that was her equation at all. She was asking for hope, The religious leaders asking that question were trying to trick Jesus in an answer (thinking they are so wise). His response was, to me, saying she would not be anyone's PROPERTY (as women were viewed by them..."given in marriage"). But my husband has gone before me after fighting hard not to. We were best friends; soulmates. I know what awaits me has to be better than what we have on earth. Did God put Adam and Eve together to be separated? No! Sin did that. God says He will restore ALL things, I have to believe that even means two hearts that beat as one, in true love. If you never knew that kind of love, you will not understand.
I'm a 50 year old man who has never really had a long-term relationship and has never been married. I understand that in heaven, most earthly needs become irrelevant. I'm always open to dating and getting married even as old as I am, but I have also accepted the reality that singleness is what my calling seems to be until the day I die. After I pass on and change locations into Heaven, I would like to know if God will give me a heavenly wife to share God's glory and His eternity with?

Hello man God. I had three abortions before I was born again. I have received Christ as my Lord and Savour. I would like to know if I will get a chance to see my children in heaven?
In the beginning, you do not understand what was said in the beginning statement! It says Christ said "You know neither the scriptures nor the power of GOD...he is telling them is that... until they understand that which is given by GOD and the power of God and accept it... they will never understand GOD or his ways...there is a way to be with your loved ones for all eternity, if you will just ask God, he will show you the way! Believe and ask, and it shall be given unto you!
I have a question about when and if you see your spouse that passed on? So, my friend Caroline had a faithful husband Earl who died years ago of cancer. She remarried in 2018, to a guy named Joe, but he died tragically of an unexpected heart attack only a year later. So will Earl be reunited with Caroline in heaven after she dies, or reunite with her second husband? I also have another friend whose husband Jim died in the 1990s, but then she, Nancy, remarried about 6 years later, to a guy named Wayne, whom also was a widower before getting remarried to her. He recently died a few months ago. How does that happen after having two spouses die???

Nothing like that matters after you cross over. You are not male or female. These are all earthly ideas. N o t h I n g of earth matters on the next journey we take after life on earth. It's the ones we leave behind can't let go of what was this concocting up all sorts of ideas.
We won't desire the same things in Heaven that we do on earth. I think those relationships will continue but love of God is deeper then we can imagine. Imagine instead of being married to your spouse, you are both given the charge of carrying out an errand for Elohim. I think that would bring much more joy.
Have faith that our Heavenly father knows w.hats best for us. DON'T apply human thinking , leave it in our father's hand ,for his thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

That is my view, but so many believers on these channels want to "buy" an entrance ticket to Heaven, and be guaranteed admission whether or not they follow the rules. Heaven is not a city of individual throne-rooms where the proud can sit wearing their royal regalia, and ignore everybody they don't like. It is a community of souls, bound together by Love. Any misfits or worse, troublemakers will receive the same treatment that Satan got, else religion has no purpose. Think of the wedding guest in the parable who turned up in casual attire.
it's been said many times that we will be together again in heaven.. it's been said that we will know our mother, father, brothers, sisters, grandfather, grandmother, and so on so I would think we will know who our husbands, and wife's are.. we may not go on being married in heaven, but maybe we will.. it all depends on many factors.. the only one who knows for sure is "GOD" lets wait and, see what he decides..
Unfortunately Jesus makes it very clear and I can’t remember which gospel it is here but he says to his apostles “there will be no marriage or giving in marriage in that time”, so I guess that is ultimately the answer to that question. But there is some confusion, to me as well actually, about the pre-tribulation oh sorry post tribulation saints whether they will or will not have glorified bodies as they will liveMove out that thousand years being able to marry so that the kingdom will be more populated. God knows us and what’s important to us, he will make sure you are happy in heaven. He will take care of you and provide you what makes you happy and what’s important to you. Although this doesn’t mean you can’t obey the lord, build your relationship stronger with him and you will work for him in heaven. He is amazing and he loves you and will provide you with many happy things and people.

I can only share an experience I had when my brain was torn during surgery and my heart beat dropped down to 33bpm. Somewhere while i was under, i had this incredible peace came over me and an angel, or the Lord Himself empathized with my sufferring and kindly asked me if i was ready to go! Without hesitation i said "yes", but then thought about my wife and 3young children and how they needed me, and changed my response. He confirmed with me of my decision, and mentioned something that communicated i would have some challenges. I was ok and i remember thinking "i gave my life to the Lord and received His salvation at age 19 and my day would come at another time😊
Happily ever after is real you brothers and sisters. We will all live for eternity with our loved once Praise to GOD in the name of JESUS Amen.
I love this thought. The one I love is in assisted living in a distant town and we can only visit by phone. He has congestive heart failure and could go at any time. He and I discuss Heaven a lot over the phone and pray for each other. I hope will still be friends in Heaven, too.
I was married for 21 years and my husband died of cancer 7 years ago. Will he know me as his wife or someone else? My heart still ache and I still cry for him. I agree! My husband died suddenly in an accident 2 years after we married. I feel like we didn't even have a chance. We didn't get to have the life we wanted. . I was heartbroken for years, all I was left with with pain and longing for him. This was 20 years ago. To think that I will never again be reunited with him as a husband wife is sad. It makes marriage seem almost pointless just to procreate here on Earth and then we go back to being non-married. 😢

Me and my children desperately missed him everyday, but I know we will see him again in heaven someday when it is our time to leave this world. Hey Doc, in 2008 I had a terrible accident 9 people died due to broken laws, then my eldest Son died in November 2009,in January 2010 I committed suicide, I died 2 and both times I had these beautiful experiences where my Son Steve took me to the place he was at, our previous son who died at child birth was also their, I found great peace and love there, so much beauty, flowers and this big Beautiful tree that was so full of life, I now call it the tree of life, on the second time I died, my Son took me to a castle like building, then he went away and showed up opposite me in another castle like building, now these buildings were very Grey in color, there was a Grey cloud moving between us, and the more we leande over the walls our hands could not meet, he kept pulling further, then He said to me, "See Dad, this is how it will be if you die" you will never meat up with your family again. So now my faith in Jesus is Strong, my attitude of death has changed, I am actually looking forward to it. Its many more time more beautiful than Life as we know it. I just wanted to share my story. My mother and father loved each other very much. December 13th was their anniversary every single year. They were so happily married that my Dad couldn't imagine his life without my mother. And I know my mother felt the same way. They were married for 47 years. And the only reason why she lost him is because COVID 19 took my poor Dad's life just 10 days after his birthday which was supposed to be a happy day, but instead of t was very sad. He had to be rushed to the hospital because he got to where he couldn't breathe on his own. Not without a tube down his throat. So I can't imagine God putting my mother through anymore heartache by refusing to let her reunite with Dad in heaven and I know that he went to heaven. God loves them and Jesus knows how much it hurt her very much to lose him. It definitely hurt me a lot to lose him but with her it was a lot different. Because he was her HUSBAND for 47 years. She always wished that when it was time that God would take both of them because she didn't know how to deal with losing him and she never wanted to let him go. What would you say if it was a marriage consisting of two people who both were saved and both loved each other very much? They were always true to each other and always made it a point to do the same things together. Mom says every day that she would never remarry because nobody else could compare to such a good husband that she had. But the way she lost him was EXTREMELY painful for her. I mean, the doctors barely even let her see him in the hospital even when he was about to die! How heartless!😥💔

When you keep this in mind at how Paul thinks you can also know how he sees marriage.

It's an individual choice that a person can make in his life. Male or female.To be married or not.
Those unmarried will have a higher reward then those married.
That's also why the 144.000 saints from revelation don't have wifes but they do have a larger reward.

He told me when he was still alive that if ever he is no longer on earth, I have to keep my faith in God and bring our children to the house of God always, so we will see him again in heaven when it is our time to leave this world. While I do believe that Gods presence will be fulfilling for all of us, I would like to point out that Adam was in Gods presence in the Garden and yet god still have Adam a companion. Marriage is a mortal construct but maybe in heaven we will be able to enjoy companionship on a level that is higher than marriage🤷🏾♂️.
There are people who lived before and some here on Earth who are going to die without hearing who Jesus is. The is depressing. What’s the use of getting married on earth if you can’t take that person with you to heaven? So in heaven we’re alone? No relationships? If our love language is physical touch on this earth will that change in heaven so we don’t care about love?
Heaven will perfect our relationships. Since there is no sin in heaven, our relationships with be even deeper and more significant. What you will call each other or experience, I do not know but you will recognize them and it will be glorious, beyond what our eyes have seen or our ears have heard!
You need to read Isaiah 65:17-25 and familiarize yourself with expectations for the new earth.

Born again believers are united in one body in the power of Jesus blood and in His name, and we are all going to be spending eternity with God in absolute perfect love. Our limited, carnal minds cannot even begin to fathom the eternal depths of happiness, peace, joy, and excitement that will be ours, so much so, that the way that we relate to each other now cannot even be compared to how we will relate with each other and with God throughout eternity! There is a reason why the Bible says "But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9. What a mighty God we serve!
The answer is in your Bibles. The frequency of the question shows how little believers bother to read their "text-book." The other consideration is that without a reform of self, no number of Second Chances can make any difference to the outcomes. We have all heard of "serial divorcees," who always say that it is their partner to blame. Such an approach can never work. It is probably behind the number of people who ask for a guaranteed ticket to enter Heaven, where they would be misfits.
Dr. Better, when we die does our soul go immediately to heaven or hell or does it rest until the day of judgment? Scripture says upon Christ's return, the dead in Christ shall rise first. What is your opinion.
To be absent from the body is to be present unto God.
When we die our souls die too it is your life in your mind it is what you are your memory love talent likes dislikes etc..it needs body for the soul to live again we will return to dust but we will have new bodies from Christ when he returns. My wife passed away seven months ago at Christmas after 51 years of marriage. I understand there is no marriage in heaven, but how could a loving God be so cold hearted to prevent my wife and I from sharing eternity together? I know beyond any reasonable doubt she is in heaven and I pray daily that she’s happy, will remember me and still love me if I’m fortunate enough to make it to heaven. And, why do so many other theologians share a such a different view on relationships in heaven, so contrary to yours?
I'm really sorry about you losing your wife. My stepdad died two years ago and my mom is still grieving. 😢You're right that theologians don't all agree because, like many biblical subjects, the issue hasn't been settled. I mean no disrespect to Dr. Betters, but he's simply repeating the party line on this subject. The idea of transcending earthly marriage into a higher marriage to God, or visio beautifica, is really based on Augustinian, Platonic and Gnostic teachings. They minimized the physical/earthly while elevating the heavenly/spiritual as better and in that state, earthly things fall away or so they believe. I know of a couple of scholars that have views opposite of Betters.
God doesn’t say physical or sexual relationships end, you 2 will be one flesh together, gods marriage for Adam and Eve was not by law like earth but by one flesh together, so I believe it will be restored back

When he read the question, he added the words "and but this time". Doing so supports his notion that the person who asked the question did not have a happy relationship with her husband. By leaving those extra words out, the question implies that she hopes to have the same happy relationship in heaven as she did on earth.

I think you will be reunited with your spouse in Heaven ....just like your mom, dad, children, and friends and family .....but the act of marriage or being married won't be a thing ....but if you was married down here then your already married so that has already happen and I believe it's a union God allows to transcend this place but in a diff way ....but only God knows for sure ...best bet is to refer to scripture and pray on it

LiN someone sevral years ago that this was my belief. I do remember coming to the "conclusion" Heaven is where everything is pure, innocent, FREE OF SIN & anything unHOLY. INNOCENCE', NOT SEX! I even thought we wouldn't have those type bodies. And we REALLY WOULD love one another for our minds and not body.I felt God put this in my mind.Gave me the answer. Or somewhere close to it. And we would all live one another with that agape love! I just realized I also heard about that around that time also.I think that's the same thing?

We both agree that we will use our relationship to glorify God in every way possible meaning we are basically together until we die for as long as we seek God first in our relationship it’s guaranteed to last. But I’m kinda worried over Mathew 22 when it references about marriage and stuff and how we aren’t gonna be married in heaven. Is he talking about marriage for like husband and wife or something else because pondering over this is making me quite upset.

As you mentioned, in God’s eyes, husband and wife are brother and sister; and there will not be a second chance in heaven. This means that a husband and wife will not recognize each other in heaven? What about the children they had together. My oldest daughter passed in 2021. Will my daughter recognize me in heaven when my time comes? I am longing to see her. Please pray for me, my youngest daughter and my grandson (my oldest daughter’s son) for spiritual peace and acceptance for my daughter’s passing. Still hurts immensely. I heard this theory once. We are not given unto marriage in Heaven since Heaven is temporary it just means people will not be entering into marriage but what of us who died while married those bonds will not be broken or maybe we have a choice? We will be back to this physical Earth which God will redo over but without sin. Remember before the fall we were commanded to multiply and subdue. We will not spend eternity as eunuchs!
From a post of yours dated3-20-17 I asked question but figured post was and you didn't see my question on Will we know recognize our loved ones n heaven... Your answer was you believed we would. My question is if in heaven there will be no crying sadness or sorrow how then would we recognize our loved ones what if some don't make it to heaven will they be erased form our minds ?if not wouldn't that cause sadness knowing this ? and as I said that will not be in heaven sadness that is.

I've found Isaiah 65:17 and Psalm 145:16 have comforted me on that point. I think we can reasonably expect that we won't be left with a desire that cannot be satisfied.

Lose the love of your life and then say these things. My husband's dying hasn't deadened my love for him at all. If anything, I love him more than I ever did. How can a mother still be a mother to her deceased child, a grandmother to her grandchildren, a sister to her sister, a daughter to her mother in Heaven, but a wife not a wife? Why would we know those we loved on earth except in marriage? God's FIRST created relationship? Do we die and no longer love those we did on earth except God? The Word says, "Love never dies." How can things in Heaven be anything less than what we had on earth? You presume she was asking about re-incarnation. I do not think that was her equation at all. She was asking for hope, The religious leaders asking that question were trying to trick Jesus in an answer (thinking they are so wise). His response was, to me, saying she would not be anyone's PROPERTY (as women were viewed by them..."given in marriage"). But my husband has gone before me after fighting hard not to. We were best friends; soulmates. I know what awaits me has to be better than what we have on earth. Did God put Adam and Eve together to be separated? No! Sin did that. God says He will restore ALL things, I have to believe that even means two hearts that beat as one, in true love. If you never knew that kind of love, you will not understand.

I'm always open to dating and getting married even as old as I am, but I have also accepted the reality that singleness is what my calling seems to be until the day I die. After I pass on and change locations into Heaven, I would like to know if God will give me a heavenly wife to share God's glory and His eternity with?

It says Christ said "You know neither the scriptures nor the power of GOD...he is telling them is that... until they understand that which is given by GOD and the power of God and accept it... they will never understand GOD or his ways...there is a way to be with your loved ones for all eternity, if you will just ask God, he will show you the way! I have a question about when and if you see your spouse that passed on? So, my friend Caroline had a faithful husband Earl who died years ago of cancer. She remarried in 2018, to a guy named Joe, but he died tragically of an unexpected heart attack only a year later. So will Earl be reunited with Caroline in heaven after she dies, or reunite with her second husband? I also have another friend whose husband Jim died in the 1990s, but then she, Nancy, remarried about 6 years later, to a guy named Wayne, whom also was a widower before getting remarried to her. He recently died a few months ago. How does that happen after having two spouses die???
