    After I lost my dearest husband, my soulmate I was devastated, but Swedenborg's writing about marital love brought much comfort to my heart. For a future when we meet again and go on into eternity. I prayed to the Lord for answers and He brought into my life Swedenborg's writings. I am thankful and love your presentations. You are doing a great job bringing difficult topics alive in a very sensible and caring way.

    After my son died, I prayed that God would send me a sign that he had arrived in Heaven. Months passed with no sign, but on August 13, 2022 I heard from my son. I was the first one to wake up that morning when I heard my son say, “Mom”. I made a note on my calendar. Some time passed before I realized that I had been contacted on my father’s 105th birthday. Shortly before he died, my son told me that he really missed his grandaddy - my father. And so I got my sign. It made me really look forward to going to Heaven.

    I lost my baby dec 31st 2023 I miss my beautiful wife of 29 years soooo much. lam so depressed and lonely I cry for her all day. 😭we always told each other how much we loved each other a 1000 times a day. my friends would always ask me to do something with them like hang out, I always made an excuse not too so I could go home to with my precious baby. I go to sleep thinking about her and wake up the same way. I really believe I was born to protect, love and keep her safe. I want to be with her forever. I kissed her on her noggin so much her hair was receding. I bet I got in over a trillion kisses on that head. her name is Michele she was 67. I love you so,so,so much my precious beautiful wife I will be with you very soon my love.

      Oh Mark -- my heart goes out to you as you navigate this extremely painful and difficult time! As "time" does not operate in the spiritual world the way it does in this world, we believe the "timing" will work out just right for you and your wife. Love draws people together in the spiritual world, and perhaps you can sometimes still feel her spirit near you and your son, even with her on the other side. I'm so glad you have found some comfort in these ideas, and we wish you and your son every blessing as you carry on in this world and look forward to an eventual reunion. @@sonjawhite5815 I'm so terribly sorry, Sonja. Earthly relationships are never perfect, but that doesn't mean there isn't love underneath it all. Swedenborg witnessed that when in the afterlife, married partners are able to love each other more tenderly than before. You can still work on your relationship with your husband now, if you feel moved to do that. There can continue to be progress in forgiveness and understanding and love.

    I have mixed feelings about this. I'm sure my parents loved each other when they married, but several years afterwards, and before I was born, somehow my mother began showing signs of Paranoid Schizophrenia. My father just thought she was just acting 'odd', and so did I once I came to the age of reason, but as time passed my mother, through no fault of her own but the fault of her condition, made both our lives rather miserable. We moved around a lot because we eventually wore out our welcome with neighbors and landlords because of my mother's antics. Neither my father or I had many friends, and even close relatives eventually shunned us. My father should have had her diagnosed immediately, but there was such a stigma in those days around admitting you or someone you loved had a mental illness, that it was common for the immediate family to just 'suck it up' and deal with it the best they could. Eventually my mom died first, after she ran away from my efforts to have her treated, and about 20 years later my father died at 95. My Dad requested "NOT" to be buried next to her or even in the same cemetery with my mother, and I honored his wishes. I always wondered if they got together in the afterlife, and, hopefully 'released' from his anger, bitterness & frustration, and her 'mental illness', they would come back to that 'first love' they had for each other; or, did they purposefully remain apart because of their past worldly experiences with each other. I hope and pray that the former happened, and that their love grew, unimpeded by the 'baggage' of mental illness and resulting negative feelings toward it. I also hope that they still love and watch over me.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +13

      Oh Miriam, my heart aches for you. That must have been so hard to live with that condition, for all of you involved. Schizophrenia is such a hard thing to be around or in! Understatement, I know.
      I have no idea whether your parents are together or not. I am sure they were able to meet and remember the good times, and I know that they are both with a partner that is meant for them. Your mother's suffering would be over, and she would be able to be her authentic self, probably very different from what tortured her on earth and what made their lives so difficult. Your father would probably be able to see the woman he used to love. Even if they aren't together though, you can take comfort in the fact that they are with people they truly love and belong with. And you can always admire your father's strength and devotion in taking care of her, in trying to help her as best he could when the medical practices and social stigma of the time would have made life very hard for her. I'm sure she would be grateful for that, and they could have a good healing conversation together - and I'm sure they will again when you arrive! I bet they can't wait to show you how happy they are, and how much they love you. They are definitely watching over you and wishing you the best, I have no doubt. Sending you love, Miriam. Thank you for your honesty and bravery in sharing your story with us.

    Looking forward to seeing this video..
    My parents were married for 55 years and my dad just recently passed away, two years this May 9th.
    Mom mom has been keeping it together for the most part, probably cuz she has such a full house ...
    My husband and I and our 19 year old son...
    My mom asked us to move back here and move in with her,so we left Sonora Ca to move back to Desert Hot Springs Ca...
    Then my daughter, husband and two sons all followed us back to Desert Hot Springs California and are living with us as well ..
    My mom has been very active with help raise her two great grand babies ..
    So they have been keeping her going on for the most part...
    She dearly misses my dad and can’t understand why his spirit hasn’t yet come to visit her ..?
    Maybe this video can help her understand everything....
    She needs to know if he’s crossed over or if he’s stuck somewhere else, she had him cremated but has not released his ashes , she’s wondering if that’s could possibly be the reason why he has not come to her in spirit form ....?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +10

      My heart goes out to you and your dear mom. Please assure her that a lack of an obvious visitation does not mean that your dad is stuck, or that something is wrong. It's just not easy for communication to cross the veil. Encourage her to pay attention for more subtle signs that her husband is with her -- thoughts, feelings, memories, coincidences. There is no doubt that he stays near her in love and in spirit. In case this discussion would help, here's our episode "Why Don't Those Who've Died Communicate With Us More?" ua-cam.com/video/pPxPFCmHngE/v-deo.html God bless!

      Our situation is almost the same, Michelle. Our darling Dad died last May 21st and, after 66 years of marriage, Mum is adrift. She is managing, but not interested in much. I think she would willingly pop off too, except that she is scared of death (who isn't, really?). My daughter and I have moved in with her as she was not physically coping well and barely eating, except quick, sugary rubbish. None of us, including Mum, have had any kind of sign. I don't know what Mum makes of that, as she can't bring herself to talk about matters much; but my daughter and I have now accepted that's just how it's going to be with Dad (at least for now) and we have started to come through the despair of that and are trying to cling on to the hope that it's "all true" and that Dad does go on, much better and much happier than his last 7 years on earth.

    Thank you for sharing. Swedenborg never married in this life, still he believed in the Eternal Love between men and women who seek it in their hearts, minds and soul. Perhaps Swedenborg's "soul mate" was not in this world at the time he lived. "Separation" from those who truly love is always very painful. Those who are blessed with a soul mate will never desire to leave one another and both will ever wish to grow together now and forever. Many have told me that my great grandmother McAllister would not even look at another man after her husband died. She was still a young, attractive woman but chose to raise their four young children alone. She told my cousin Charlotte that he was her one true love and she missed him everyday. When I attended LDS church for a couple of years , I did hear them say we could have "spiritual" children in Heaven and perhaps so. I never met my "soul mate", but I find it a most beautiful idea. Their inner thoughts, desires, intentions, interests, values etc must be very close indeed, thus they would have the best friendship ever.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +1

      @Joseph Marton Earthly life is very short compared to your eternal story, Joseph! Anything you were deprived of in this life can be healed and fulfilled in the next life -- love, marriage, family, health, and satisfying activity. Just do the best you can with what you've got in this life, and trust that your life after death will be much more expansive:
      "Life Isn't Fair... Or Is It?"
      ua-cam.com/video/42BEBqN0H3Y/v-deo.html
      Also, read the story of Helen Keller. She had severe limitations (blind, deaf, mostly mute, and never married) and yet she found joy in seeking ways that she could help and inspire others in spite of her limitations. Wishing you all the best, Joseph! Your life does matter, and you are loved!
      "Does My Life Matter?" ua-cam.com/video/33FfPQsf_zU/v-deo.html

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +2

      @Joseph Marton Again, I'm sorry for what you've been through. But don't let any wrongs from the past continue to control you right now. You deserve to be free of the past. "Life" and "love" are the same thing in spiritual reality. If you look for something positive to care about right now, no matter how small a thing, life can begin right now for you. Time does not exist in the afterlife. You can "go back in time" and experience things you missed -- everything and as much as you want. Try to let go of hatred and resentment. It is only robbing you of more in this life. Please start to look for something good about life right now, for your own sake, and your own healing. I've heard from many, many people who have suffered horrendous things in the past, and yet they chose to be freed from the control of the past, and forge a new and positive present and future for themselves.

    Such an interesting subject. I was widowed 6 years ago, and I loved him fierce. How I found you...and as I have said many times I give this channel a fair amount of credit for helping me over the worst years of trauma and grief. Then two years ago...I met someone extraordinary and am astonishingly lucky to find myself, in spite of being sure I would never love another, deeply in love with the kindest man I have ever known. My late husband, who has been in unmistakable contact since his death (trust me on this.)..has now gone quiet. I very much wonder how this will all work out. They are radically different people, and I love them both....but value different things now, than I did then. I ...sigh...I do think about this a lot. I just want everyone to be very happy, which I am sure will happen, but I do wonder...how it will manifest.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +6

      Perhaps your first husband went quiet in order to give you space and permission to be happy in a new relationship! There is no need to worry at all about this. It's wonderful that you have found new love and happiness, and once you cross over into the afterlife, it will become clear which of these two wonderful men is your eternal partner, and which one is a dear friend who will find his own eternal partner.

      As a widow for 1.5 yrs I've wondered similar ideas and agree this channel has helped me. Before he left we each had agreed that was our marriage.
      I still feel my husband near me periodically. However, for a few months he was suddenly gone. Nothing had changed in my life, but I started wondering if he had met someone else up there. Then just as quickly as he left, he came back. Wish I knew what happened.
      Personally I can't imagine reconnecting with my soul mate in heaven & then have him leave to go live with a deceased earthly ex to verify she is to remain an ex. That doesn't seem like a very heavenly idea. The idea of greeting an ex when they enter the spiritual world is understandable & seems "socially appropriate" but live together?!

    I find it comforting in a sense because I want to be reunited with my husband and live back together again in the spiritual world. But I am only afraid that by the time I die, he may have had a change of heart and not want me anymore. He has been dead now, 1 year and 1 month and still he has not given me a dream visit like all of my other family has done. My greatest fear is never being back together with him anymore.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +4

      There is no need to fear! Real love is not affected by time. It can seem that way on earth, but especially in the spiritual world, where there is no linear time, a passage of earthly time makes no difference. The lack of a dream does not mean that your husband isn't with you. Sometimes with the people who are grieving the most, an obvious visitation can't get through. Look for more subtle ways to notice your husband's love and presence -- a thought, feeling or memory that comes to you, or a meaningful coincidence. Your dear husband's presence might be registering on a deeper level than is easily noticeable! Sending much love to you, Azraelina. One year is still very early in the grief process.

    My wife recently took her own life. I am beyond devastated. We were best friends, soulmates, playmates, we did absolutely everything together. I didn't want to go for a drink after work with colleagues because all I wanted to do was get home to my beautiful wife. She was my world. I am 34 years old. I have a difficult time ahead of me in this world. All I want to do is be with my wife but I know that is not an option for me right now. Do you have any advice for me or any videos you can direct me to, to help my healing? ... She was the most kind, vibrant, selfless, playful, fun spirit I have ever met. She would dance in the street when we were even walking to the supermarket, she was amazing with children (although we didn't have any).. Because I am so young, I'm confused about what is the next step for me. Do I start another relationship (at some point) Will this be cheating?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +1

      Mark, I am profoundly sorry to hear of your devastating loss. Your wife sounds like such a wonderful person, and I have no doubt she is thriving now and healing whatever wounds she had that lead to her departure. You being left behind is so hard, because for her, time is irrelevant. She will see you soon, and knows that you have bliss ahead of you! But as for the next steps on earth, that's a very personal choice. You might marry again, and that doesn't take away from how much you loved your wife. You will still have the opportunity to meet again in the next life, and find out if you are soulmates.
      It sounds like this was very recent, and I think the decision to move on with someone else will take some time, and you shouldn't rush it. If there's someone else who is right for you, you will meet her when you are ready, and you will know in your heart that it's the right decision. It will not hurt your wife - she will understand, and if you are soulmates, remarrying here wouldn't ruin that for you, and whoever you marry next would find her soulmate in the next life as well if you weren't the one. You can still have a beautiful, meaningful loving friendship/partnership with someone else. It wouldn't be the same experience.
      Here are some episodes about loss, reunions in the afterlife, and marriage in the afterlife that I hope bring you some comfort as you move through your grief. Go easy on yourself - you do not need to have all the answers. As the cliche goes, take it day by day, friend. And please let us know if these resonate, if there's anything more you want to know, or if something comes up that we can help with. God be with you!

    Curtis you made everything perfectly clear and understanding for me! I grew up confused about God thinking that he was this hard non forgiving entity that wanted me to be this mistake free, perfect individual. I was really afraid of God till I started watching Swedenborg and Life…and even felt guilty about that because it was not a nondenominational or denominational church. I though when I died God would just send me to hell! I have always love the Lord God and His son Jesus Christ and believed that Jesus died for us all. I also have gone to church most of my life and have been deceived by these preachers that preached doom and gloom about God. That I am not supposed to love my husband as much as I do. He passed away February 3 of 2021 and I miss him so much! I am so happy to know that I will see my husband, Melvin and be with my him in heaven for eternity still married! I look forward to that beautiful time for us. When my time comes to be with Jesus my Lord and Savior and Melvin. thank you guys for the truth! I really enjoy Swedenborg’s understanding on the afterlife, heaven, hell and most of all the Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father and what is considered evil. You have showed me the true Go and Jesus! This teaches me to love my fellow brothers and sisters even more! Also, caring and doing for others! I want to know more, I will continue to watch, learn and donate to Off the Left Eye! Thank you so much!

      I also want to thank you for guiding me through this journey of grief for my husband Melvin. We have been married for 38 years and together for 40. We’ve raised three beautiful children and we were heading for our golden years. Since his passing, I have been through some ups and downs with my health. A heart surgery this past June and a stroke in August of this year. I am now in the process of healing from these journeys. After viewing your programs from off the left eye, I have come into enlightenment and a awakening about who I truly am in Christ. How God deeply and truly loves us all and have a purpose for everyone. I think differently about my Father in heaven is pure love and comfort in knowing that all that we go through is apart of God’s plan for us all. I no longer fear death here in this life for it is a gateway to life with the God and the ones we love. Thank you. 🙌🏿

    I’ve never been married or had any children myself. ( possibly from my upbringing) But I look at Jesus and he was single also. I suppose it really doesn’t matter as long as you keep learning to be a better individual and love your neighbor. I just wanted to say it must be very difficult to stay married today with the high divorce rates I alway hear about. . Those who can stay together here must have some special type of bond between them that I am not familiar with. But if God grants you that privilege of mutual love , I would definitely make the best of it.❤️👍🏻🙂🌸

      Julian, the concept of genuine marriage love, and how to achieve it, has been messed up for a long, long time here on earth. So yes, it's something that many people really struggle with. But God promises that everyone who has any desire for a true bond of love with a soul mate will be granted that in the afterlife, if they're not able to find that here on earth. The important thing is simply to learn how to love others, whether you do that in a marriage relationship or in other kinds of relationships and interactions. That will allow God to lead you to many forms of deep love and friendship in the afterlife.

    My husband just recently died (January 21st, 2024) and today (February 17th, 2024) would have been our 40th anniversary. We met and became friends four years before we actually married so have known each other for 44 years. I am lost. It was completely unexpected. He got sick and ended up in the hospital then died 3 weeks later of aspiration pneumonia. I kept thinking he would get better and come back home with me. Now I am terrified that I will never get to be with him again. What if I end up being sent to Hell but he's in Heaven? What if he just doesn't want to be with me even if I do go to Heaven, too? I know he loved me here in this life but what if I live another 10 or 20 years and in the meantime he has met and fallen in love with someone else that's already there? I don't want anyone else but him. But I also don't want him to be lonely and unhappy while waiting for me. Oh God, why couldn't you have just taken us together?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  8 місяців тому +3

      Simsane, that is such a heartbreaking thing to go through. We are very sorry that you are lost without him. It is a blessing to have found your real partner, but it is painful to lose him too soon. You are connected with love, and that will be the way you are reunited. We want to assure you that you will indeed be together again, and your love will still be strong. He has things to do and learn and enjoy while he is in heaven before you join him, but that does not mean he will forget you. You are still here, and perhaps there are things you need to learn and strengthen in yourself before it is your turn to be in heaven. God takes the timing of these things very seriously, and has not forgotten you. Here is a playlist of videos about marriage if that might bring you comfort. studio.ua-cam.com/users/playlistPLgtFTXGqZdSnVm6megbrsgDh8sMPeW9Bo/edit

    With my illness advancing, I've been thinking about this a lot. If I leave my partner behind so soon in our lives, I'm not sure what that will do to his long-term faith, and I also don't know where to begin thinking about what would occur on the other side if he moved on from me. It's such an easy subject in 18th century Sweden where lifelong marriage, regardless of quality, was a given. It's too complex now.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +11

      Hi War Hawk, I'm sorry to hear of your illness. That leaves you with so much to contemplate, and it sounds very hard to process it all. I can't say how your partner would react to your loss, or if he will find someone else eventually or not. But the truth is, you will both be with whoever you are truly meant to. Perhaps a new partner would fill a longing and provide a profound friendship to your partner, but that doesn't take away from the love you two have, or mean you won't still be together in heaven. If your partner find someone else on earth, they may part ways as dear friends in the next life and you two will reunite, or, and I'm not sure this is comforting, but you might find someone else and realize your partner here was a dear friend. Whoever you both end up with will be unequivocally the RIGHT person for you, and you will experience a blissful connection with that person. My advice is, don't worry too much about the specifics, but instead focus on love in general, how much you can love this person and how much love you both have to offer, and focus on gratitude for that love. Remember that no love is ever wasted, and no love ever truly disappears. Even if it changes shape, the love always exists and was always a good experience. I think that's what matters.
      I hope that helps, and I promise, it will all work out the way it's meant to! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. I'm sure this is an experience many can relate to.

    • @rozchristopherson648
      @rozchristopherson648 3 роки тому +3

      I'm sure God will work things out to you liking and all will be well with your partner here as well. You will be praying in heaven if you leave this realm first. And God will watch over your partner. Once we are in heaven we will understand things better and be happy with and blessed by the results. Do not rule out that you may be reunited again after death. There were a lot of remarriages back in the 18th century because many women died in childbirth. Just trust God to do what is best when He blesses you.

    I agree fully with everything said in Swedenborg's viedo. Since I have been communicating with my spirit husband, I found when life ends , including marriage, as we feel it has, it really all continues on the other side as though it never ended.
    I'm not sure I heard correctly, but the reason we have this life is to grow a spirit, we are only soul when we enter a fetus, but very quickly begin growing a spirit, without a spirit, we cannot have a spirit life.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +5

      How beautiful that you have direct experience showing you that your marriage really does continue! Wonderful. And yes, I agree with what you're saying about the soul and spirit. I think of the "soul" as part of God's life, one of God's feelings, entering a fetus. But then we have to gradually grow a "spirit", which is an individual consciousness, an individual mind, that can make its own decisions. That is what our spirit is that survives physical death.

    So I still have the question, are we still married? I lost my husband of 33 years January 2024. Is he watching over me,with me and when I pass away, will we still be married? Have a house together, the house we are taught? Are I and my husband still married? My heart is broken and long to be with him. My heart searches for him. Longs for him . When he passed away he took apart of me with him.

    • @offTheLeftEye

      My heart goes out to you, Stacey -- such a fresh state of grief! Swedenborg says that when married partners truly love one another, the spirit of the deceased partner continues to dwell with the spirit of the partner still on earth. I'm sure every widow/widower experiences that differently, but love is like a spiritual magnet, and pulls loved ones together in spirit.
      Swedenborg says that on the other side, we meet the person we were married to on earth, and if we are genuine partners, we stay together. If not, we move on and find our true partner. And yes, Swedenborg describes married partners sharing a house and a life together.
      Sounds to me like you still feel married to your husband in your heart. I think that's the answer.
      Sending prayers for peace and healing, until your joyful reunion with your husband!

      Swedenborg did see some "marriages" in hell, but they were really awful. Each person tried to dominate the other, and there was a lot of stubbornness and fighting and violence until one finally gave in and became subservient. So, it would be about domination and control and possession rather than love and kindness.

    I have a few questions about those who are divorced, and it was not on amicable terms. If they fully understand why the marriage ended and let go, do they still meet? What of those that remarry either after divorce or death of a spouse? Can there be multiple spouses in Heaven? What if a person never meets the love of their life on the Earth plane? Can there be a possibility of meeting someone (for the first time) in the state of Heaven? Or does it have to be a prior soul mate. Some good questions for you I hope. I'm curious! Thanks for all the great videos on this complicated subject...

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +2

      Great questions, Marilyn! If people felt very clear on earth that they do not belong together, there would be no need to meet, unless there is something further to clear up. Regarding your second question, there are not multiple spouses in heaven, but everyone can meet with each person they were married to on earth in order to clearly feel out which person they truly belong with in an eternal marriage relationship. The others will find their own true soul mates. And yes, absolutely, a person who never found a soul mate on earth will find their partner in heaven! Swedenborg learned that God will provide a soul mate for everyone who wants that kind of deep, heavenly union.

    OK, the next question is if a married couple still has dependent children, and we will say they are all killed in a horrible accident ~ or when the Rapture happens and all are taken to Heaven at once, are they still united as a family??? My inclination as a Born Again Christian is to say yes. The God I know is all about love and wouldn't have it any other way.
    I won't get into the other family dynamics such as disfunction within the family. A straightforward happy family is enough.

Then if their loves move them to enjoy new things, that is all part of the progress of becoming an angel. You've probably addressed this before so I'm sorry for asking you guys to repeat something you've likely already discussed, but could you expand on the comment Curtis made about "we all have to begin in the physical". My question would be, why? Does it have to do with free will? Why is the physical necessary, I guess is the question when we're usually told how unimportant it is because it's temporary and deceptive (i.e. smthg can 'look' good but not be good or sound good etc.). The physical just seems like hard work.

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому

      Yes, Swedenborg did learn that starting out in the physical level is crucial for get us started as eternal beings. Earthly life can be thought of as the soil that we puts roots into before sprouting up into the afterlife. Starting out here gives us the "roots" of an eternal identity that can then keep growing and flourishing forever. Earthly life can also be thought of like the shell around a seed, again, crucial for getting that plant started, but not the real life of the plant. My late wife watches over me ut she never actually comunicates unless she feels its important. You should find the most suprising info is usually the function of your 3rd eye oposed to the chatter in your mind. Seperating imagination from psy function is the hardest thing. Me and my wife were very close. We will be reunited on the other side. If you want to hear from your loved ones crossed over then ask them to come into your dreams often they will ablighge. I find praying out loud is more well heard than praying just in the mind. Nevermind paper vows. You know if you love each other. In fact we were never legally married. She wore my ring and i called her wufe she called me husband. Often sheeple gave me a hard time about that. God knew we were so close the bond would have lasted into our 80s and 90s if she had made it past age 24. We knew that. I found it harder to lose my wife Brittany Janvier harder than anything i could imagine. If my entire blood family from both sides passed suddenly that wouldn't have effected me 1% as much as Brittanys passing affected me. I would have given my own life in a second if i could have traded my own life so she could live. I still feel guilt for living while she cannot plus i was ten years older than my wife. I'm 40 she'd be 30 now... love you for eternity Brittany. She does hear that.

      What a powerful testimony about your bond with your beloved Brittany, fergal farrelly. I hope you can come to some sense of trust that you are each on your own spiritual journeys, and hers involves leaving this world at age 24, while yours involves staying in this world for a while longer. There is no guilt. She is alive and vibrant in the spiritual world, and given the bond you speak of, you will definitely meet again in the other world when it's your time to go -- love is like spiritual magnetism, and you will be drawn together. Blessings to you as you continue to live on in this world without her physical presence. You are blessed to be able to feel her spiritual presence sometimes!

      I think we can't conceive of the fact that "time" in the spiritual world does not work like it does here, user-vo1. In the other world, it's all about changes of state (mental and physical), not about the passage of days and years due to the movement of earth and sun. So what might feel like a long time to us, may be a blink of an eye for our spouse. Swedenborg asserts that we do get together with our spouses on the other side, and then we see if we are eachother's true match. Nobody gets cheated out of their marriage because of a glitch in timing. God guides the process very carefully, says Swedenborg. Reassuring!

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +1

      Shrishti, yes, that's possible. He may even realize it on earth. But you deserve someone who loves you in a healthy way, who can grow with you - that means the humility to admit mistakes, to apologize. We can't grow and change with someone who won't acknowledge their faults, and we can't grow and change ourselves unless we can acknowledge our own faults and mistakes. Marriage (or any committed relationship) is hard work, and it can only be done by two people who are willing to be humble so that they can grow and change together!
      I think we can have many true love connections that we learn and grow from. Even if they don't work out in the long term, that love will always be there and was always real. Even if you find someone else, something less chaotic, you will always love your boyfriend too, but in a different way. But know that your heart and your soul are worthy of a love that transcends petty mistakes and rises above the nitty gritty - a love that puts love before pride. If you know you are worthy and already always loved, you will find the right love for you (and if he can learn to love you that way, maybe he will, but don't ever short change yourself for something that causes you more pain than love!).

      Karen, I think this is a definite possibility! This morning I read in Swedenborg's book Heaven and Hell that each of us must undergo transformation in this world (and the next), which includes what he calls shattering experiences. Shattering experiences are a shedding, or sloughing-off process, as he explains it. I imagine that two human beings whose souls are deeply connected may be temporarily separated by all the muck that is present in the transformation process. But, like the way depleted soil is transformed by [apparently icky, garbage-laden] compost, I can see in my mind's eye the beauty of the healthy flowers and fruit that come out of the rich soil that emerges at the other end of the transformation process!

Once a Union with Christ comes forth, the way we deal with Eternity is quite different than here on earth. If you have found that one Love, hey go with what works for yah. Yes, assuming that that communication of helpful ideas of some kind (like I try to do here on OTLE) really is the thing I can do best to contribute, it is fascinating to think of what people in that line of work would actually do on the other side. Pam, I'm glad you asked! No, these partings that Swedenborg describes all happen in the "world of spirits," the realm between heaven and hell that people first go to after death. That is where people who had been married on earth can evaluate whether their relationship is a deep connection that will continue, or not. People who find their partners in heaven will never get divorced. At that level of awareness, there are no mistakes about who will be together or not. Marriages in heaven are based on a very clear perception that those two belong to each other, joined by God. I hope that clears it up!

Jesus couldn't tell people much about spiritual sexuality back in those days, because marriage was viewed in such a materialistic and worldly way, as a contract, with the wife as property of the husband. Would you be interested in reading Swedenborg's whole book about marriage love? In it, he writes about a new way to understand the concept of "chasitity" -- not as abstinence from sex, but as using sex to express genuine, committed love rather than self gratification. In heaven there is no more procreation. But when there is a new heaven and a new earth, things will start again. So it is possible that procreation will begin again later in this aspect of eternity. Just as in Noah's time, the Scriptures state that people "married and were given in marriage until the day Noah entered into the ark." (Luke 17: 26-27) They went about their lives, but the end was coming with the Flood. So the end came and people had to start all over again. When the "Son of Man" (Luke 17:26) comes there will be another ceasing of marriage when the world comes to an end. I believe all those who are destined for heaven will exist in a spiritual form for some period of time and marry, then, at the Resurrection, receive glorified bodies, just as Christ did and Moses and Elijah in the Transfiguration. At the Resurrection, marriage will cease momentarily again, just as in Noah's time with the Flood. After the new heaven and earth are created, then we will return in glorified form and begin again. Our bodies will be renewed and functioning again, only better, glorified and eternal. So procreation cannot be completely ruled out for all eternity just because it does not exist in heaven . I guess what I am saying is that marriage seems to be correlated with these three times when a type of ending or transition comes. The Flood. The End of the World. The Resurrection. These three things halt marriage but not permanently. Whatever Swedenborg may have seen of heaven, it does not seem that he was given any vision of what the new heaven and new earth will be like. No one knows that except God.

      Interesting thoughts, Roz! Thank you for sharing them! Swedenborg thought that the Bible was written in spiritual parable, what he called the language of correspondences, and that everything within it has an inner, spiritual meaning. As for what Swedenborg saw of a new heaven and earth, he interpreted this as spiritual truth too - he believed this new heaven was actually created, but the new earth is a new spiritual era. Here are a couple of episodes about that:

      @@offTheLeftEye I agree that there will be marriage in heaven both before and after the Resurrection and have watched the first video you list. I am always watching more of your videos to get a better understanding of Swedenborg. But where I think I am differing in comparison to his thinking is that I believe the new heaven and new earth will not be only a spiritual world but a world of both and eternal spiritual world and an eternal PHYSICAL world permanently united with the spiritual world. I say this because of how I am understanding the duality of existence. I preface my remarks here by stating that I studied for my doctoral degree in English Romanticism, specifically Shelley's poetry. I also went to seminary. In traditional Christianity, Christ is described as having dual natures, being 100% God and 100% man. He is not a man that the Holy Spirit later descended onto, a doctrine known as Arianism. Neither is He God who only appeared to have flesh but is purely Spirit, a doctrine known as Gnosticism. Paul referred to Christ as "the firstborn among many brethren." (Romans 8:29) in describing Christ thusly, Paul is stating that Christ resurrected both spiritually and physically. Therefore, His existence is both physical and spiritual and this is an eternal state, an state to which we, as the "many brethren" will follow. Therefore, physical reality and physical existence will at some point return to the state it was in in the Garden of Eden. Eternal, both physically and spiritually. Some of the reason for this preoccupation with the spiritual being the absolute highest form of existence comes from the belief in matter or the physical world as being corrupt and that only that which is unseen and spiritual is pure. These ideas go back to Platonism. But according to God at the time of creation, all matter that he created was described by Him as good. Therefore, I think that a lot of what Swedenborg says about everything in the world he sees beyond this one being all spiritual and that everything has spiritual correspondences leads me to believe that he conceived the physical world as being unable to exist in a state of perfection and that therefore, everything must be spiritual in order for it to be perfect or uncorrupt. I believe that because God incarnated Himself as the Second Person or manifestation of the Trinity (note: the Second Person always existed, just not in incarnate form), God demonstrated to us that physical matter was once perfect and can be perfect throughout eternity. That is why I believe the new heaven and new earth are not just spiritual realities but will also be physical realities. For this reason, then, it is possible that procreation may still occur just as it was to occur in the Garden of Eden before the Fall. There is nothing in the Scriptures to indicate there is a set number of humans that will exist. Only that a third of the angels fell, indicating that angels have a limited number of beings. But not people.

      @@rozchristopherson648 fascinating, thank you for taking the time to share all of this with us! I love this idea, of a perfect spiritual AND physical reality. And agree with you that Jesus is both fully Divine and fully human, which connects with the Bible's repeated assertion that we humans are made in God's image - that of the Divine human!
      So Jesus' life was this process of making his physical human fully divine, through his work on earth, his death, and his resurrection. For more on Swedenborg's view of this process, see "Why Did Jesus Suffer and Die?" ua-cam.com/video/VqsbY9gRXxo/v-deo.html
      Or, see Swedenborg's book that explains this in detail through Scripture, "The Lord," available for free download here: swedenborg.com/product/lord-nce/
      We have more episodes about the life of Jesus but I think I've already given you too many! So let me know if you ever want more of those (or you can just search "Off The Left Eye Jesus" too).
      We believe the Trinity is three aspects of one being, just as the soul, the body, and the actions they produce are all part of what make a single human. (Here's the link to our episode on that idea, if that interests you: ua-cam.com/video/-YbEHk2N884/v-deo.html)
      But back to the idea of all things being good, and all things returning to good - I like this idea, personally (Melissa here). And while Swedenborg thought we would move - or could move - into an age where genuine love of the Lord and each other could open up incredible possibilities, such as speaking directly with angels and spirits as he claims ancient people were able to do, I'm not sure he thought we'd ever be perfect.
      Free will is a large part of his theology, and how he understands our relationship with God. This would mean that there always has to be an alternative to good in order for our choice to have meaning, and in order for us to have freedom.
      So, if we are bound by Swedenborgian theology, we have to accept that things won't ever be perfect, and we won't all be good - but it's my personal belief that the "alternative to good" we could experience could be significantly less harmful than what the average human lives through to day. People experience so much pain, isolation, fear, and darkness in their lives today - but I believe we experience less than those that came before us, overall.
      And I believe we can continue in this trajectory of being more considerate of each other, maybe one day even actively loving everyone as God asks us to, and then what would evil look like? Would it be the hard things people live with today - murder, abuse, etc. - or would it be mild indifference, a slightly bad mood or a nagging doubt we ultimately resolve? How evil would we let ourselves get, once we have worked our way back to good and know how wonderful it is by comparison?
      So those are some thoughts, and I hope they make sense! I think I agree with you, that things will be very different, humans will be very different, and our world will be so much better for everyone someday! What do you think, does that resonate with you, Roz? It's such a pleasure to get to learn all you have studied in your own spiritual journey, thank you for taking the time to share it with us! Blessings!

      @@offTheLeftEye Hello Melissa and thank you for your wonderful and thoughtful response to my comment. There is so much for me to digest so It will take me a few times revisiting your response. I hope that is ok. For now, i would like to address one of the points you made concerning Swedenborg's theology. You stated that free will is part of his theology and that in order for good to mean anything and for our choices to mean anything, there must be the presence of both good and evil or good and bad. I agree that this is part of our existence. It seems to have been a part of our existence from the Garden of Eden and the creation of the first man and woman. Adam and Even were told what not to do. Do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They were told to eat from anything else there but not from that tree. However, they chose not to follow God's command. Now, humans exist in a state where they must operate according to that choice to not follow God's command. I don't think that can be fully described as simply a choice. Not the original command. Accepting the original command to not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was really the will to obey. After the Fall, then there was the desire for good and evil.
      Afterward, God removed Adam and Eve from the Garden so that they could not eat from the tree of life, which is Christ, because then they would have been eternally in a fallen state. Note, however, that eating from the tree of life was not forbidden until they disobeyed God's command. What I am saying is that we cannot really judge life with God in heaven or in the new earth and heaven by what we consider freedom of choice here in our fallen world or even describe what happened to Adam and Eve as freedom of choice. In the case of the Fall, there was disobedience to a command. The angels decided to follow God or Satan and one third fell and were kicked out of heaven. But we are not told that Satan has the power of choice anymore or that the good angels can still chooses to do bad things and follow Satan. No. Their fate is sealed on both sides. Likewise, once we go through with life here and the Resurrection and glorification of our new bodies, our fate is sealed like that of the angels. We have made our choice to desire God. We do not need to be in a dilemma of choosing between good and evil anymore, vacillating back and forth. We are eating from the tree of life--Christ--and are eternal beings with God after that. So the theology of good vs. evil and freedom of choice, etc. is effectively over at that stage in the game. We want to be with God for eternity. We are not ever going to be God Himself, so that type of perfection will not exist. But we will be perfect as God intended us to be. We won't have to strive to choose Him or to be better. As it is stated, we will be like the angels in heaven. From that point onward, we are sealed with the will to desire God and only God and that is the whole point of the Incarnation and Christ's
      sacrifice on the Cross.

      @@rozchristopherson648 yes, I think Swedenborg would agree with you! There are many kinds of love and in Earth biology fuels romantic love. In spirit what would fuel romantic love and what harmonizes these kinds of relationships?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому

      Rick, great questions! Swedenborg tells us that we still experience romantic AND sexual connection in the afterlife, and that it can be even better than it is on earth. The principle difference is that sex does not lead to reproduction, as it does on earth, but to "spiritual offspring" that Swedenborg seems to liken to a spiritual renewal.
      I think romantic love on earth is only a fraction of what we can experience of love, in this life and the next. Attraction will be more direct, because part of the process we go through when we arrive in the spiritual world is shedding our external layers and appearances and attitudes that don't reflect who we truly are. Once we become our most authentic selves, "dating" would be much easier - because there's no hiding anything anymore. Attraction, therefore, would be more powerful and it would be hard to mislead anyone. Swedenborg describes spirits who were married on earth meeting again in the next world and "living together for a time," getting reacquainted. Some of them stay together, but others decide to move on. Some go peacefully, some fight and realize they need to separate. But I think they come to an agreement and wish the other well, and then find a partner they're better suited to.
      So in other words, it varies from person to person or couple to couple, but I do think that on the whole, it's much less complicated there than here because we are more ourselves. And we have lots of love to look forward to as well!

    What is Swedenborg’s views on homosexuality?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +3

      Great question, TheLackstar. Swedenborg barely mentions homosexuality at all, which is notable in itself. Jesus, also, did not speak out against homosexuality. Instead, Jesus spoke out against adultery and lust. So, rather than focus on external forms of sex, Jesus pointed to paying attention to how sex is used. Adultery is using sex to betray a commitment to someone. Lust does not mean just sexual desire (which is a good thing as a part of a loving and committed relationship), but instead means using sexual desire for selfish self-gratification, using people instead of loving people. Jesus was constantly working to steer people away from judging things according to outward appearances or circumstances, but instead look at the deeper things, like goals and intentions and motivations.
      Swedenborg echoes this in his writings. He states that adultery and lust are the things that can lead a person in the direction of hell, because they are selfish and opposed to heavenly love toward others. (Swedenborg listed 4 kinds of hellish lust: the lust to deflower, the lust for variety, the lust of rape, and the lust to seduce innocents.) So again, a focus on how people are *using* sex. He learned that God and heaven are not concerned with people's outer actions, but instead are concerned with their inner motivations and intentions. God is looking at people's hearts and minds, and all that they are dealing with. If a person is doing the best they can, no matter what external and bodily situation they are dealing with, to become more genuinely kind and useful toward others, then they are on a path to heaven. All people are beloved by God, and God is the only one that can know what each person is dealing with in their heart and mind, and help them to sort it all out after death.
      If you read the stories about how Jesus acted, he always ignored the judgmental nature of society and the religious leaders who were wanting to condemn people for not externally living in a certain way. Instead, Jesus took each person as an individual instead of part of a "category", reached out to people that society considered in the wrong or outcasts, and looked at their hearts in order to see the best and most wise and loving way to help and heal and guide. And he spoke the most criticism toward those who self-righteously condemned others! Swedenborg emphasizes that it is not our place to make spiritual judgments about others, because we cannot know their hearts and minds.
      So, there are some thoughts. I hope that helps!

    So we can believe Swedenborg about marriage, or Jesus Christ. We have this guy Curtiss and some man who lived over two hundred years ago calling god a liar.
    Jesus warned us about false prophets to come.
    Be careful who you follow.
    If there really is marriage in heaven, why didn’t Jesus say so during his earthly incarnation?

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому

      Because Jesus could not speak plainly about heavenly things when people were so earthly-minded. He had to speak in parable:
      “All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them.”
      -Matthew 13:34
      “These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father.”
      -John 16:25
      “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now” (John 16:12).
      “If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?” (John 3:12).
      The people asking Jesus about marriage in heaven thought of wives as a piece of property that would be passed from brother to brother. So Jesus could not talk to them about the spiritual union of hearts and minds that is heavenly marriage. We address the deeper meanings of Jesus's words in this short clip:

    It is our longing for eternal love that we remain married to our spouses in Heaven in perfect union with God. But I as Jesus said to the Sadducees in ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22:23-30:
    “The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him, Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother: Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. And last of all the woman died also. Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.”

      Hi, atgred! That passage is indeed misleading in its literal sense. The mission of our channel is to share the works of Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772), a Swedish scientist and late-in-life theologian, who was also a scholar of the Bible. Swedenborg began to have spiritual experiences and visions that he claimed were directly revealed from Jesus Christ and the afterlife, and spent the remainder of his life recording what he learned and publishing his works. This lasted for almost thirty years. Swedenborg was raised a Lutheran, and read and loved the Bible. But he also wrote that the Bible contains hidden inner meanings that he was shown to share with the world, meanings the Bible tells us are there, “All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them.” -Matthew 13:34
      If you want to learn more about Swedenborg, check out our short clip here, "Who Was Swedenborg?" ua-cam.com/video/HEa0e8AcS78/v-deo.html
      If you'd be at all interested in hearing how the ideas in this show are grounded in the Bible, I recommend the recorded episodes of this Bible study: www.spiritandlifebiblestudy.com/or
      Here is how Emanuel Swedenborg interprets the particular passage you shared in your comment, atgred: from the book "Conjugial Love," on the passage quoted in Matthew 22:
      "There are two things which the Lord taught by these words: First, that man rises again after death; and secondly, that in heaven they are not given in marriage. That man rises again after death He taught by saying that, 'God is not the God of the dead, but of the living,' and that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are alive. He also taught the same in the parable of the rich man in hell and Lazarus in heaven (Luke 16:22-31); secondly, that in heaven they are not given in marriage, He taught by the words: 'They that shall be accounted worthy to attain the other age neither marry nor are given in marriage.' From the words which immediately follow, that they cannot die anymore, because they are like the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection, it is very evident that no other nuptials are meant here than spiritual nuptials. By spiritual nuptials conjunction with the Lord is meant, and this is effected on earth; and when it has been effected on earth it has been effected in the heavens also; and therefore, they are not married and given in marriage again in the heavens. And this is also meant by the words, 'The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, but they that are accounted worthy to attain the other age neither marry nor are given in marriage. They are also called by the Lord sons of nuptials' (Matthew 9:15; Mark 2:19); and here angels, sons of God, and sons of the resurrection. That to be married is to be conjoined with the Lord, and that to enter into marriage is to be received in heaven by the Lord, is clear from the following passages: -
      The kingdom of the heavens is like unto a man, a king, who made a marriage for his son, and sent forth servants and invited to the nuptials (Matthew 22:1-14).
      The kingdom of heaven is like unto ten virgins, who went forth to meet the bridegroom; five of whom that were ready went in to the nuptials (Matthew 25:1, seq.).
      It is evident from verse 13 there (where it is said, 'Watch, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh') that the Lord here meant Himself. Also from the Apocalypse: -
      The time of the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife hath made herself ready. Blessed are they that are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:7, 9).
      That there is a spiritual meaning in all the words, and in every single word that the Lord spoke, is fully shown in The Doctrine of the New Jerusalem concerning the Sacred Scripture, published at Amsterdam in the year 1763."
      You can search Swedenborg's works at newchristianbiblestudy.org - I typed this passage and found that explanation! Fascinating. Let me know what you think!

    My husband just passed Feb 8. He died in my arms. I told him not to leave me but what is really strange is that our marriage feels even stronger now, and he's not here in body. Let me rephrase that last sentence. It feels as if the bond and love is stronger than it ever has been. I love him so much. Two days before he passed he asked me if I was going to miss him. He knew he was going to die. I want him to wait for me.

      It'sTricia'sLife, thank you for sharing that powerful story with us. I am sorry for your recent loss. It gives me so much hope to know that even in the heartache you still feel connected and bonded! You clearly have a powerful spiritual connection and awareness of each other. Swedenborg talked about death being a transition, that our losses are just temporary separations. I think you and your husband understand this.
      Each of us have soulmates and can spend eternity with them! You were lucky to find yours on earth, and of course he will wait for you! Why wouldn't he? Your are his soul mate! No one else would ever do. And for him, the time will feel like nothing, since spirits experience time and space so differently. Here are some episodes that I hope bring you some joy and comfort when you think of him and feel his presence with you:

      @@offTheLeftEye WOW! Thank you so much for your reply. I didn't expect to get one. The hurt is less now b/c I know I will see him again and this is only temporary. He just graduated to the next level. I just can't believe how strong our love is and yes no one else will do. I want him. Someone told me, he wants me to be happy, they wanted me to find someone else to date. Under no circumstance will I do that. I consider myself still married to him. I feel it. Plus I told him I would never marry again. I will wait for him. Thanks for all your video's you shared. I will definitely watch them. I love your show and the video's you put out. It has taken a lot of the fear away from dying. You explain everything so well.

      Swedenborg witnessed that people in the afterlife still have gender, and still have marriages!

    When did “conjugal” become “conjugial”. Why do allegedly educated American insist on showing their ognorance?!

    • @offTheLeftEye
      @offTheLeftEye  4 роки тому +6

      The word "conjugal" can be used to mean anything connected with earthly marriage contracts. Swedenborg purposely coined a new word, "conjugial" to specifically mean a spiritual, heavenly marriage relationship -- an actual union of hearts and minds.
